I appreciate that this is not a direct remake, but a reboot that uses the same characters in a different story setting.
Bill Skarsgård is a talented actor that can morph into any role. I think he would do the part justice as long as he’s not imitating Brandon Lee but make the character his own.
But I’m still on the fence on this. The look of the film feels to polished. A generic cinematography look, similar to movies like Morbius and the bad RoboCop remake.
The original Crow film and the comics had this dark and greedy mood. A low-key aesthetic to the production, like a really good independent film. Which mirrored perfectly with the self published black-and-white comic book.
From the trailer this version of the Crow feels to Hollywood produce. It looks like a typical by the numbers glossy revenge action film.
The Crow character and story is not only about revenge, but also a journey of self reflection.
Unfortunately the Director of this film is the same guy who directed the live action ghost in the Shell movie. And based on how he missed the point of the plot of ghost in the shell. I have a bad feeling that his version of the Crow will just be a soulless action film.
I’m still gonna give it a chance and see it. Maybe my assumptions are wrong and this is just what I’m getting from this trailer.

Maybe the Thunderbolts weren’t supposed to go up against the Sentry. Maybe they didn’t know that the Sentry is overpowered.
Maybe there’s a secret organization like AIM, Roxon or the intelligentsia that’s trying to create their own version of the super soldier serum.
General Thunderbolt Ross & Val assemble a team of spies, assassins and super soldiers. Their mission is to infiltrate the secret organization. The spies Job is to steal & destroy the formula and any records pertaining to the formula. The assassins will kill or kidnap any of the scientists involved with developing The formula. The super soldiers are there as muscles in case this organization succeed in creating their own super soldiers.
The mission goes south when the thunderbolts discover that one of the test subjects is a mentally disturbed man by the name of Bob Reynolds. They also discover that this version of the super soldier serum doesn’t just give you enhance abilities like Captain America. Instead gives you god like Super powers that is the equivalent of million exploding suns.
The thunderbolts are fucked. They weren’t expecting to fight against a Superman with mental problems. The team now has to improvise and figure out a way to stop the Sentry. All while trying not to get themselves killed.
Ultimately Bucky is the one who stops the Sentry. Not by fighting him, instead Bucky tries to communicate and sympathizes with Bob Reynolds. Bucky understand what the Sentry is going through. He was also ones unwillingly experimented on and turned into a killing machine. This snaps Bob Reynolds out of whatever mind control that the organization had on him. Now with a clear head the Sentry flies off to freedom.
The thunderbolts destroys the secret organizations facility. Along with The super soldier serum, as well as any documents that could help re-create it.
General Thunderbolt Ross is furious with the thunderbolts for disobeying orders by not bringing back the formula. General Ross is especially pissed off at Bucky for allowing the Sentry to escape and threatens to lock him up. But Bucky doesn’t care what Ross does to him. Because Bucky did exactly what Steve would have done.
(basically this is how I would write it)

A lot of these episodes are playing it safe and to me it seems kind of boring. The “What If” concept should be experimental. They should take chances that they can never do with the movies. And since it’s animated they could go bigger.
They should have it episode where Thanos won after endgame. A new universe were the heroes who try to stop them don’t exist. But somehow other marvel characters would take up the mantles of those heroes in this universe. Like Luke Cage becoming the Captain America. Peter parker becomes the punisher after uncle Ben and aunt May are killed by gang violence. Killmonger gets abducted instead of Peter Quill and grows up to become the leader of his own planet that he calls Wakanda.
For that “die hard” inspired Christmas episode. It would’ve been interesting if Justin Hammer hired different mercenary’s to be part of his goons. Like taskmaster, Killmonger and the ghost. That way like the original “Die hard” We see a unlikely hero like happy hogan defeat enemies that are powerful than him. Just like how John McLean was a ordinary New York police officer and not a muscle up action hero like Schwarzenegger.
They can even go deeper to adapt comic book storylines. Since they have the right to the X-Men property. They can adopt the age of apocalypse story. Or any of the countless interesting stories from the comics. And based on the fact that they introduced a brand new character. They can incorporate many other marvel characters from the comics that has never been introduced in the movies yet.
Also don’t see you needs to tone down with the quippy dialogue for every project. The thing that the comic book share universe used to do was that every book had their own tone. daredevil was serious. The punisher was dark and spider-Man had light moments, until A life lesson Peter had to learn came up. There were different types of X-Men books that varied in how they were written. Basically there was some thing for everyone because everything was different but still were connected.
The problem with the MCU, because of the first avengers movie is that everyone has to be funny. And that ruins the audience’s suspension of disbelief. A lot of these writers who do this think they’re being smart and Meta, but really it’s stupid and lazy story dialogue writing.
Also I’m not a fan of the cel shaded animation. To me it feels too uniform. It would be interesting for a anthology show called “What If” to have different animation styles for each episode.
For example a anime style episode that features Shang Chi. Or a CGI animated episode with Iron Man. Or maybe go more experimental with a claymation Christmas episode.
This can also help give work to different animation companies, Who are desperate for work.
Like I said the “What If” concept should be experimental an interesting. But these guys are playing it safe by doing bland within the box story writing.

I just finished watching Zack Snyder’s “Rebel Moon”. And I kind of have mixed feelings. It’s Entertaining, but it’s not groundbreaking. What I mean by that is it’s not the type of movie that you would obsess over after. It’s not really memorable. Just like his last zombie movie, you’ll probably forget what happened months later.
Visually the movie looks gorgeous. But the premise is generic and obviously there were moments that were inspired by “Star Wars” and “Seven Samurai”.
We’re introduced to characters that look cool, but they don’t feel like characters. They’re all defined by what they can do. Sure they all have their own backstory, but we’re told about it through short expedition dialogue. We don’t really get a feel of who they are. They’re like NPC characters that follow you in a role-playing game. They’re just there.
The Direction, like many of Zack Snyder’s films. He favors style as a narrative tool. Which is OK if you’re directing a big budget commercial. Don’t get me wrong, it’s always welcoming to have some razzle dazzle in a action film. But they have to be narrative reason to have slow motion laser gun battles, instead of it just being cool looking. Zack Snyder is the type of Director that makes bold choices, and I kinda respect him for that. But did he make the right choices? That’s something that’s highly debatable, pending how are you see his films.
Zack Snyder is great on picking actors. He doesn’t automatically cast famous celebrity actors. He doesn’t try to use expensive actors like Leonardo DiCaprio in every movie, like Scorsese, Nolan and Tarantino. He doesn’t care about casting the movie star, instead he would give prominent roles to unknown actors. Gerard Butler A theater actor who had a couple of film credits to his name was given starring role in “300” by Zack Snyder. Ray Fisher, a Broadway actor who is handpicked by Snyder to to play cyborg for a big budget Hollywood movie. No other directors in Hollywood would give chances like that.
Like I said before, visually the movie looks good. Snyder knows how to shoot a film. Writing and Directing is where he falls short. Honestly I think Zack Snyder should just focus on being a cinematographer for other Directors projects. Imagine a master storyteller like Michael Mann or Ridley Scott in charge of directing duties with Zack Snyder as only a cinematographer. That film would be a cinematic masterpiece.
Overall, Zack Snyder’s “Rebel Moon”was entertaining but “MEH”.

Loki could replace Kang in MCU.
Tumblr media
I think A villain that can replace Kang is Loki. Not The heroic Loki who remains at the end of time. He would be a evil variant, Loki who has never gone through a heroes journey. A power-hungry Loki who has conquered everything in his time.
Somehow a connection with the Loki at end of time gives evil Loki abilities to access the multi-verse. Evil Loki will abuse this power in order to conquer every reality shape it all into one. The good Loki at the end of Time notice this and assemble his own multiverse avenger team to stop him. And eventually would have to make a another heroic ultimate sacrifice, that could reboot the entire MCU.
This can do two things. Allow the writers to stick with the multi-verse saga story line. And Give Tom Hiddleston a chance to show off his amazing acting talent by playing two different versions of the same character in one project.
This can also give Tom Hiddleston A proper sendoff. If he decides to retire his role at Loki, similar to Robert Downey Jr..

Vin Diesel should Play Batman!!! It would be a challenging experience for him as an actor. For a guy who talks about “Family”, playing a character who has no Family.
