SPIDER-MAN: MILES MORALES GIVES A FRESH STYLE TO AN ALREADY GREAT GAME. Spider-Man: Miles Morales takes place not long after the original game, and at the outset Peter and Miles are still working alongside each other as complementary Spider-Men. It seems the training has gone well: soon enough Peter abruptly announces that he’s going on vacation for a few weeks, leaving Miles as New York’s only webslinger. At the same time, Miles and his mom have recently moved to Harlem, and he’s still getting used to both the new neighborhood and his mother’s budding political career. Oh, and the neighborhood is also under siege from both a seemingly evil technology conglomerate and a band of high-tech criminals called the Underground that look straight out of Watch Dogs. It’s not exactly the best time to be a solo Spider-Man. Like the original, Miles Morales is structured as a fairly standard open world game, with a big map full of points of interest to seek out. There’s a main storyline to play through, which will probably take around 10 hours to finish, along with copious side activities like solving petty crimes, collecting time capsules, and, of course, rescuing cats. What makes this rote structure work, though, is how incredibly fun it is to be Spider-Man. In most open world games I ignore side missions because they’re a chore. In Spider-Man I do almost everything because I enjoy swinging across the cityscape and climbing buildings. Playing Spider-Man can almost be like playing Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater at times; movement is so fluid and fun that it changes how you view the urban landscape around you. I find myself constantly seeking out new ways to navigate it. (Miles Morales even adds a completely superfluous but extremely enjoyable THPS-style trick system so you can swing in style.) #spiderman #ps5 #gamenews https://www.instagram.com/p/CHSkJOnHpq6/?igshid=fqos443hlgjh

Fortnite will reportedly be playable on iOS again through Nvidia’s GeForce Now Not quite as easy as just opening the Fortnite app. Fortnite might come back to iPhones and iPads later this year, but not quite the way you’re used to. The BBC reports that Fortnite will be available to play through Nvidia’s cloud gaming service, GeForce Now. The service hasn’t been announced for iOS yet, but the BBC reports an announcement is expected before the holidays. GeForce Now will supposedly run inside of Safari, the web browser, rather than as a standalone app, because of Apple’s restrictions on game streaming services that make it onerous to support them through the App Store. The service allows you to stream your personal library of games to laptops, mobile phones, and other devices that might not otherwise be able to run them well — or at all. A standard “Founders” plan currently costs $5 per month, though you can play for limited time periods for free. #fortnite #nvidia #ios #apple https://www.instagram.com/p/CHOemNcnXKe/?igshid=1g1iec45cqcc0

Pokimane wants Twitch fans to stop giving her so much money . Big donations are a sure-fire way to grab attention on a Twitch broadcast, but such performative gestures may not always make a streamer feel comfortable, even if they’re grateful for it. And so, one of Twitch’s most visible streamers has put a stop to giant donations on her stream. Aspiring Vtuber and Twitch juggernaut Imane “Pokimane” Anys announced on Twitter in early November that, from now on, donations on her channel would have a cap. You can no longer donate more than $5 to Anys, who is asking viewers to instead take that money and give it to other streamers who may need it more than she does. @pokimanelol #twitch #gamer #streamer #donation https://www.instagram.com/p/CHLj7ztncEp/?igshid=8gh10hez1p4g

Ruined King: A League of Legends Story, the upcoming single-player League of Legends spinoff that will see the franchise debut on consoles for the first time, has released its first (albeit, vague) bits of information. It’ll launch sometime in “early 2021” on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Steam, and the Epic Games Store at launch, with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X / S versions set to follow shortly after. (PS4 and Xbox One players will be able to upgrade for free.) Along with news of a release window, Riot Forge also announced some additional details on what Ruined King will actually be: a single-player, turn-based RPG set in the Bilgewater and Shadow Isles regions of Runeterra (the planet on which League of Legends is set). The company also revealed the roster of League of Legends champions who’ll appear as playable characters in Ruined King: Miss Fortune, Illaoi, Braum, Yasuo, Ahri, and Pyke. There’s still no look at actual gameplay yet, but Riot Forge is already promising more information on Ruined King in December. The release will be the first game from Riot Games’ new indie publishing label, Riot Forge, which was announced last year as part of a new initiative to partner with other developers to expand the League of Legends universe into new games and genres. #leagueoflegends #ruinedking https://www.instagram.com/p/CHA85zHHDbe/?igshid=2bbfgdyv8fzx

PS5 has an awesome FREE surprise for PS4 owners Patches for Sony's first party games see PS4 load times massively reduced With loading times apparently becoming a thing of the past thanks to the special SSDs within both the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X, it’s natural that we expect to see them reduced massively on the new hardware. What’s far more surprising though, is that some of these benefits are already being felt thanks to a slew of patches for PS4 games, that have vastly improved loading times. As originally reported on by VGC, games like God of War, Concrete Genie, and The Last of Us: Part 2 have all had new patches recently. Despite apparently only being in regards to bug fixes, it looks as though they’ve done an awful lot more than that. As you can see, The first example alone shows that booting up the game pre-patch takes a little over a minute-and-a-half, while the post-patch version starts in just under 14 seconds. That’s a reduction of over 80 percent! A number of Sony's first-party titles will be getting the benefit of the PS5's boost mode, and it seems that the PS4 versions are getting on the action too. #ps4 #ps5 #xbox https://www.instagram.com/p/CG-HXaYHGXp/?igshid=1459xc88z284c

Xbox Game Bar now lets you track what’s eating up your RAM, CPU, and GPU Microsoft is rolling out a new update to the Xbox Game Bar on Windows 10 this week, and it now lets you track what apps are taking up precious RAM, CPU, GPU, and disk resources. While there are a number of overlays and apps that can do this already on PCs, Microsoft’s Xbox Game Bar is built into Windows 10, and it’s fairly flexible and lightweight as a result. The new resources widget keeps track of the top tasks and their associated impacts, rating them low, medium, or high. You can either monitor them by pinning the widget to your desktop or even close off apps without ever tabbing out or leaving a game. The Xbox Game Bar resources widget. This resources widget is different to the performance one, which lets you keep an eye on overall system utilization. Microsoft has also added the ability to monitor GPU utilization and GPU memory usage in the performance widget. Finally, if you’re wondering whether your PC is ready for DirectX 12 Ultimate, there’s a new section in the settings of Xbox Game Bar that will give you an easy answer. DirectX12 Ultimate promises to unify graphics tech for PC gaming and the Xbox Series X, with support for ray tracing, Variable Rate Shading, mesh shaders, and sampler feedback. The updated Xbox Game Bar is available right now, and if you’re not seeing these widgets yet, check for updates in the Microsoft Store app. #xboxbar #xbox #microsoft #new #update https://www.instagram.com/p/CG73aYEHm6K/?igshid=13t396clcfi6s
