have i finally lost my marbles or do i just need A Change Of Scenery

i want to love. i want to cook dinner for someone, my fork stalling halfway to my mouth while i watch them take their first bite. i want to know when they need to laugh, to be held, to be heard, to be reassured. i want to listen and listen and listen and not speak a word about myself for hours, just to get to know the inner workings of someone's soul. i want to smooth my hands over someone, to offer what earthly relief i can. i want to kiss someone on the forehead and lay my hand on their cheek, so they do not only feel my touch when it has its own motivations. i want to open myself to someone, to make them understand they are trusted and treasured.

i so rarely dream of being loved.
