ngl i didn't expect to like him so much, especially since he and libra were the only ones i didn't get to recruit all those years ago.
(design ramble under cut)
i'm also aware that the way i drew him is also pretty different from how he looks? context was that i drew him and morg about a month ago from memory, and i only realised when @anoldwishbone was like “oh his hair looks diff!” and i was like “wdym his hair looks different,” so i looked at it and i realised “damn. iba nga.” and wishbone was like “ayun na you're making him your oc :DDD”

Pages from an Earth Day 2021 zine made for UST Psychology Society. The idea was to create jarring and glaring images that depict superimposition, to show how rapid urbanization and industrialization has damaged our public spaces and our environment. lucina is one of my fav awakening characters (ok, so i have many fav awakening characters) so i had to add her to my draw the character on their bday challenge!
it ended up very similar to my alear portrait, but, hey, i drew falchion!
the blade is your implement. you'll need it if you want to do this right. (04.17.2024-04.20.2024) [18hrs]
happy anniversary to FE13! i was drawn back to this game after getting into another, though completely different game, Slay the Princess. the conflict and shifting forms reminded me a lot of what had stuck out to me in FE13, so i decided to go back and play through it.
i also made a small doodle too of the vessels during the creation of this piece. you can find it below in the read more, as well as a small list of who's who :D
a last thank you to @anoldwishbone for helping me with the glass shards and effects!
from left to right: the beast (it/its), the damsel (she/he), the prisoner (she/her), the spectre (she/her) the witch (bottom, they/them), the tower (top, she/her), the razor (middle, he/him), the adversary (top, she/her), and the nightmare (middle, she/her).
tower, adversary, and nightmare's designs were pretty unclear to me even a day before the deadline, hence why they're pretty loose here.
i ended up giving the tower elice's clothes from fe11/fe12, and the adversary was given a mix of the dread fighter's outfits in fe13 and fe15. the nightmare's clothing is still a big WIP though, since fe13's story is still yikes. would still love to explore swana and central asian fashion for plegian characters.
study of the dress and pose from "the love letter" by auguste toulmouche featuring maribelle fire emblem (the rest is referenced slightly, but mostly removed or simplified for the sake of saving energy).
i started this last year and it was mostly done so i just 'refined' it for maribelle's bday
maribelle is one of my top models for this sort of practice (along with edelgard!)
"Naaalala Ko Pa" is a story revolving around a parent reflecting on their childhood under the Martial Law era and having a parent fighting against the then-administration.
Tackling the uncertainty and danger brought forth by that era and the notion of remembering the bravery of those who fought for the justice and freedom of the Filipino people.

sharing this since the compositors had to fix some things post-film screening. the gifs above are scenes that i cleaned up! full film is found here below.
@pear-rez was one of my colorists too! please show them some love after this.
In a world where art and other creative pursuits should be an inspiring, honest and a direct reflection of our society, it is truly disheartening to realize that most mainstream artists come from some place of privilege. Whether it be racial, financial, social, or geographic, artists succeed not just from their skill alone, but from having the privilege to make enough sacrifices to pursue art as a full-time job. Even when you do find the right representation, it may feel as though you must sacrifice your independence and your voice as a trade for financial security. This can make you feel like you're alone, or just another piece in a system designed to exploit you for capitalistic gain.
Now, now, sweet artist. I know you may feel quite depressed after reading all this. It's hard not to. Part of these frustrations are why I'm here writing this in the first place : because I believe that these systems must change and our approaches to financial stability as artists must be more transparent.
I believe positive change comes from the transparency to know what it is that needs to change. For too long, our culture has resisted a more public conversation about personal finances. In many ways, this has enabled us to become a society that's content to embrace the outdated trope of the starving artist.
Let's change that.
