Still mod TF here but I thought I’d give a little update to what the heck’s going on.

Kay doesn’t seem to want to come back on this blog unfortunately. The whole ship war stuff scared her away. I want to convince her though that the fandom’s not all bad and discourse filled so I made a non-discourse Beetlejuice Tumblr chat!

Opinion on goldenrat?

Kay’s rules say not to talk about the ship but I’m not Kay so I’ll bite.

I know she’s not a fan bc she views the original encounters from the movie and musical as sexual harassment, which she has negative experiences with. Understandable imho. It’s her personal thing and I respect it bc I’m her friend.

Me personally? I don’t pay it much mind. I understand the appeal but I find it not really being my cup of tea compared to just the Maitlands by themselves, probably bc Kay and I talk about them together so much and ghost parents are life. Plusssssss they’re like... the one of two ships in Beetlejuice to be confirmed canon. The other is the Deetzes obviously.

The original movie focused heavily on the Maitlands and I guess their relationship and predicament really appealed to me more than Lydia, her parents, and even Beej himself.

So yeah, I know Kay is solely Maitlands centric, but I don’t mind it. Hope that answered the question lol I feel like I’m really bad at running a blog like this

i’ve seen this on this blog before but i feel like it should be expanded on?? bc it’s wholesome. the whole ‘maitlands giving each other the cute neck kisses thing’ and OFC adam does it BUT barbara does it to adam because he’s really fuckin ticklish there. and he has the cutest laugh in the WORLD so she gives him lil neck kisses all the time because she loves the sound of his laugh!!!!! it’s adorable and also somewhat comforting

I can also imagine (if we’re still running the whole Tall Adam idea) that Barbara kisses his neck to tease him too bc that’s about as high as she can reach if he’s not slouching and she’s not on her tiptoes. But it’s fine bc his ticklishness stops him from being upset at her teasing.

He gets grumpy/pouty bc she’s not ticklish there but gives 900% of his affection anyway bc he loves his tiny wife so much.

Hi! This is current mod’s friend, TF, aka the person who originally made this sideblog. Kay’s unfortunately not comfortable with this blog at the moment so I guess I’ll be here for a while until she decides to come back.

I hope I can bring the same amount of enthusiasm she has for this ship while she’s out and if not, then a preemptive sorry to all you Maitlands fans. Kay’s rules still apply, if there are any. I haven’t been here since like... the first week of this blog’s existence lol

Barbara is the extremely touchy-feely kind of drunk and will drape herself over Adam or straddle him even. She’s hella flirty and dtf and will kiss him so much. She’ll also curse up a storm. Basically she has zero filter and the only way she’ll remember what she said/did afterwards is if you record her. She’s not a lightweight tho. You’d think she would be but it takes a lot of drinking for her to get to that level of drunk but she will do it and it’ll happen.

Adam doesn’t seem like the kinda guy to get drunk, but if he did, he’d be the quiet, cuddly, and kinda giggly type. Like just the same as he normally is but more so. Maybe a lil clingy. If he’s in the same breathing space as Barbara tho? Inseparable. He’s impossible to talk to when he’s hella drunk. That’s why he’s so quiet, bc he’s incomprehensible otherwise. He’ll ramble about his wife but like in the “asdfdsssk I lov e herrrrrrrrrr” way.

If they’re both drunk together................ WELL I MEAN IT SHOULD BE PRETTY DAMN OBVIOUS WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU KNOW WHAT IMSAYINGFOSJAHDJDLOL

Barbara pulls Adam down to her level. “What are you?” she asks, holding his face in her hands and glaring at him while he acts as if his stupid shenanigans didn’t just occur.

“A-An idiot sandwich?” He places his hands over hers and presses them into his face. His hopeful expression turns silly as he does this.

Damn it, Adam....

Her serious facade cracks as her lip twitches slightly before giving way to a small smile. She brings him closer and kisses him.

It lasts but a moment, then she pulls away to reply, “My idiot sandwich.”

this one time i had the idea that adam tripped over on the altar at their wedding and i cannot look at that man the same way ever again

Barb would straight up look at him scrambling to get back up and fix his suit and glasses like a huge ass nerd and she’d be thinking “I’ve committed to this man for god knows how long and this whole ass wedding is gonna bind me to him for an indefinite amount of time. This man, who obsesses over cryptids and a highly-detailed model of a suburban town that takes up 90% of the living room of the house we’re moving into after this.... This man...” and then he gives her that goofy, awkward smile and she’s just like “Oh fuck yeah I do.”

do you ever think about how barbara DEFINITELY sees lydia as her own kid sometimes?? (this was actually a canon aspect of the dc production of the musical too) and like if she really sits herself down and thinks about it she just kinda,,, breaks down?? bc she wanted kids so bad and her n adam never got to have any of their own while they were alive.. and the only one who can calm her down from the breakdowns is adam, because no one knows barbara maitland as well as adam does :)
