Lissy, 16, British. Obsessed with politics.I'm not a cynic; I may post some pretty emo/cynical stuff, but I haven't quite given up on humanity yet (just the jerks who lay claim to leading us). I'm incredibly prone to giving up quickly on stuff like this, the only exception being twitter, but this is working out okay so far (like, it's actually lasted > a year!). I'm libertarian, and a socialist. No that isn't self-contradictory. Jupiter is home to one of the most famous storms in the solar system, the Great Red Spot, which Earth observations place at a minimum of 180 (Earth) years in duration. Some evidence suggests that it may have been observed by humans as early as 1665. The magnitude of such a storm is almost unimaginable. At its narrowest point, the storm is still as wide as our entire planet and observations from the Voyager crafts indicate that the storm has 250 mph winds. Y'know I should probably show this to the people in my physics class who are like LOL biology (not that I actually take biology), but I have a horrible feeling they'd just laughmoreat it.

It is generally unwise to get your feet wet when doing field work. Yes, there’s a certain amount of squishy discomfort when your wool socks are squelching in your rubber boots, with the wet fabric gently but persistently scraping against the now-doughy, damp, cold flesh of your feet. And if you wore cotton socks… well… have fun with the nascent case of trench foot creeping over those disgusting stumps that used to be your feet…
But there’s an even more pernicious reason to avoid flooding your boots:
Fungus.
Oh… fungus…
Perhaps you’ve had athlete’s foot before, or a tiny spot of ringworm… such quaint infections. When a fungus takes hold in the 100% humidity, constant rain, and multiple boot-floodings of the wet season, it does not let you go.
Ever.
So if you find yourself in the rainy season with a shiny, round red welt that itches like the dickens, please remember these few things:
