girl typing a very specific question into google search bar, scrunching her face as she takes time to make sure she hasn't made any spelling errors, hitting enter, shaking her head as google only presents her with unhelpful websites that don't answer her query at all, moving her cursor back to the search bar and clicking on it so she can carefully write 'reddit' at the end, hitting enter again, sighing with relief as she finds a link to a reddit post asking the exact question she needed answered posted in a subreddit for a very niche topic, finally moving her cursor to click on the link, wondering why she didn't go straight to the subreddit earlier, only to be met with a deleted comment with a reply from the OP stating 'that was very helpful, thanks', sighing with frustration as she moves her cursor back to the search bar so she can copy the link and paste it into the wayback machine,

I'd argue besides not making your kid less disabled this may actually make them MORE disabled. I probably wouldn't have half the issues I currently have if my parents had fully accepted and supported me earlier and not only after I became an adult!
Dear parents
Pretending that your kid isn't disabled and getting mad at them for needing more help and support than your other kids and wanting them to "try harder" and also pretend that THEY aren't disabled by ignoring their OWN needs as well doesn't make them less disabled by the way

Currently I almost only go out to go to the doctor.
Even if I get to buy something or eat out the only reason I stepped a foot out of home is because of an appointment. I wouldn't dare to "waste" my energy if it was only for fun, I don't have this energy nowdays
i wanna say fuck you to anyone who shame disabled, chronically ill & neurodivergent people, especially homebound folks, for "spending too much time on their phone/on the internet/etc." when it's the only (Somewhat) accessible way for them to experience the world. many people don't get to get out much even if they want to because of their disabilities. shaming someone for trying to connect with the world, make friends and engage with hobbies in ways that are accessible to them is beyond cruel and unnecessary

I remember having a talk with my older brother one time, about how I had a very low need for socializing and didn't really get it. He told me it was normal and would change when I grew up.
It didn't change at all, it was autism,
a bottom-tier autistic experience is being told throughout your entire childhood that you are just an overthinker when it comes to social situations and later finding out that your friends did, in fact, hate being around you and tried to communicate that through weird little hints

Earlier today I realized my "normal" fluctuates between 4-5-6 and also often spikes to a 9 (thankfully for a short amount of time!) and then randomly 0 (also for short periods) I think my brain really just shuts itself sometimes, it almost makes the moments without pain feel scarier, they feel SO out of place

Why has a doctor never actually explained the 1 - 10 to me before, always just when on how destressed I was feeling with regard not my actual pain

temperature sensitivity is such an annoying part of my disability. what do you mean i can’t go out in colder weather or warmer weather because the cold gives me allergy-like symptoms that last for days and makes my hands stop working but the heat makes me lightheaded and headachey and too exhausted to think? what do you mean i can’t be in direct sunlight or direct contact with cold without breaking out in hives? why must i have the physical constitution of a sickly victorian boy?

This really pissed me off in twitter recently. Disabled people belong in every type of setting. If we aren't there, your worldbuilding sucks.

Just to add, lying down ALSO HURTS for many hypermobile people, many of us have chronic fatigue and we can’t even rest well because assentially no positions are ever comfotable enough to relax, I also have pots and sitting upright is enough to trigger my tachycardia 🤡 There is absolutely no way out
I want people to understand. Sitting up hurts. Because of my hypermobility, weak core muscles and chronic fatigue, sitting up itself is exhausting and hurts. Do people realize how fucking weird and almost dehumanizing it is to have something as simple as sitting up hurt? Like something that people need and find so easy is utterly exhausting and painful to me. I know a lot of my chronically ill friends go through this. Sitting up just hurts!!
