You’re currently engaged in the most difficult battle you’ve ever faced since graduating high school. The stakes are high, a night out with your friends on the line.
A kiss is pressed to your lips once, then twice. “No, you don’t.” Another chaste kiss.
“Stay with me.”
“Jungwon-“ He interrupts you with a kiss, wrapping his arms around you tightly. “They’re probably waiting for me already.”
Clearly, you’re losing.
Maybe losing isn’t the worst thing in the world, but you’re already dressed in your nice form-fitting outfit, and you were so close to walking out the door. All you had needed to do was put on your shoes, and give Jungwon his goodbye kiss which had gone well until he pulled you onto his lap.
That was 15 minutes ago, you were supposed to leave 30 minutes ago.
The constant flow of kisses is leaving you somewhat breathless. “Is hanging out with them more important than me?” He asks, breath fanning your face with a cheeky grin.
“Let go”, You whine, contradicting yourself by wrapping your arms around his neck (you were quite weak for him). “You’re not usually so clingy.”
The kiss this time is a bit longer and Jungwon follows up with kisses to your cheeks. “Got the urge.”
“We’ve been home all day and you’re getting the urge now?” You raise an eyebrow at him and he just looks back at you with the same cheeky grin. “You’re impossible.”
Jungwon shrugs at the same time your phone starts ringing loudly.
The both of you turn to look at your phone resting on the counter before turning to look back at each other. At your pointed look, Jungwon tightens his arm around you and buries his face in your neck. “Why can’t I go with you?”
“It’s girls night, Wonie.” Your hand comes up to thread through his hair. “You didn’t have a problem with it before.”
“Yeah, before I saw how good you look.” A blush spread across your cheeks, and you could feel him pouting. Your phone starts ringing again and Jungwon sighs, loosening his grip just a little. He pulls his head away from your neck to look at you. “You’re coming back after?”
Originally, you were supposed to have a sleepover, but the more you look into his eyes, the more you can’t bring yourself to tell him no. “Of course.” You lean in and give him one last kiss, before gently pulling his arms away from you and escaping his grasp.
You put your shoes on and Jungwon walks you to the door. “Have fun.”
“I will.” You straighten yourself up one last time, glancing into the mirror beside the door before opening it.
“Aren’t you forgetting something?”
You raise your eyebrow at him. “What?”
Another cheeky smile as he encroaches on your space one more. “My goodbye kiss.”
“You’re so silly.” Even though you’ve given him plenty of goodbye kisses, even though you should really get going, even though your friends are calling for the third time, you can’t stop yourself from grinning widely back at him. Arms come up to wrap around his neck and pull him in closer. “Goodbye, Jungwon.” You whisper before pressing a chaste kiss to his lips.
You let go and walk out the door, grabbing your things and finally answering your friends promising you’ll be there soon. He doesn’t say anything, just smiles at you as you close the door behind you.

Jake was easy to spot as soon as you walked in.
Even with his hair dyed back to its natural brown color, which tends to make people blend in more than anything, he still stood out sitting near the window, scrolling absentmindedly on his phone. You walked towards him quickly, excited for the food (you still hadn’t eaten yet as you had only woken up a couple of hours prior) and also anxious to get this over with.
You both had determined that there needed to be rules to this arrangement of yours, which made sense, but it made you a little nervous. What if the girls were right and Jake was just as bad as Heeseung and this was all a big ploy to ruin your life even further?
Before you could continue to dwell on the thought that Heeseung may or may not be fucking with you yet again through his best friend, said best friend noticed your arrival and smiled at you.
“Y/n, hey, thanks for coming.” He gets up and rounds the tables to pull a chair out for you. If not for your sudden nerves you would’ve swooned. “I already ordered, it should be here soon.”
“Thanks. It’s… been a while.” You finish awkwardly.
“Yea… I’m sorry I know my text came out of nowhere.”
“No no. It’s fine.” You think back to the group chat. “Incredibly suspicious, but I like to live life on the wild side.”
Jake quirks an eyebrow up at you, a smile ghosting on his lips. “No, you don’t.”
“Yeah, I don’t. Uh, now that I’ve thought about this a little more I’m not so sure about this…”
“That’s fine, I know it was weird. Just… let me explain better?” You nod and gesture for him to continue. “I’m really sorry about what happened. I was going to text you, but I didn’t think you would’ve wanted me to so I didn’t.”
You shrug in response, briefly flitting through the memories of the three of you hanging out together. Jake had been there for the entirety of your relationship, having been the only one of Heeseung’s friends to know about you. You think about how kind Jake had been when you both talked and how he always shared his notes with you and almost scold yourself for thinking that such a nice person could be screwing you over, but you had thought Heeseung was nice, and that led you to heartbreak.
“What Heeseung did has nothing to do with you, Jake. You don’t have to apologize on his behalf.”
“I felt like I did then, and I still feel like that now. You’re an amazing girl Y/n, you didn’t deserve that kind of treatment. I still don’t get why he did it. He acts like he isn’t, but I know he’s still in love with you. Honestly ever since he’s met Karina it’s like he turned into the worst version of himself and I’m sick of it. So yea, maybe it’s a shitty thing to do to my best friend, but he deserves it at this point.”
‘He’s still in love with you' Those words made you almost want to vomit if not for the slice of strawberry cake and what looked like 2 caramel macchiatos being placed on the table.
You gasped lightly. “That looks so good. I love strawberry cake.”
You’re so busy looking at the cake slice that you don’t even notice the way Jake smiles at your excitement (or the way the waitress smiles at the two of you knowingly before walking away). “I know.”
You take a bite and nearly groan at the taste. “I can’t believe you remembered, it’s been so long. Here.” You hand him a fork
“Thanks, lemme order another slice. It looks better than I thought.”
“Why?”
“I don’t wanna take your cake.”
“No no, it tastes better when you share it like this, trust me.” Jake shrugs and takes a bite. “Mkay so, you want to do this because you want to teach Heeseung a lesson?”
It’s a second before he responds like he forgot why the two of you were there in the first place. “Oh. No, I want to do this for the couples discount. My only other option was Sunghoon… Teaching Heeseung a lesson is like.. a side-quest.” He says, waving his fork around dismissively.
“Oh.” It’s silent after that. Not exactly awkward, just the two of you enjoying the cake, while you thought about this again. After you finish your last few bites, you speak up again. “Just to be clear, you have no ulterior motives right?”
“None.”
Well, that sounded trustworthy to you. “Okay then. Let’s do this.”
Jake’s resulting smile is so wide your cheeks hurt for him. “Let’s figure out the rules then, yea?”

The party is so loud the constant bass of the music starts to give you a splitting headache even though you’d only been there for 10 minutes max.
While the girls had practically abandoned you for the dance floor, you had approached Yeonjun with a big hug after having not seen him in what felt like forever. The two of you continued chatting to catch up and you felt like maybe coming to the party was a good idea after all.
That was up until Yeonjun looked up to greet someone behind you and you turned to see that someone was… Heeseung.
When the two of you made eye contact he stopped and his eyes widened in surprise. All of a sudden you can’t see anyone else but him and you forget everything that’s happened and why the two of you broke up in the first place.
You stare at his stupidly handsome face and you see the way he looks you up and down, taking in your outfit. You open your mouth to say something until you see Karina attach herself to his arm. He tears his eyes away from you, looking at her and reaching down to grasp her hand, and you remember that you’re supposed to hate him.
You turn back to Yeonjun and inhale deeply as he looks at you worriedly. “Y/n.. Are you okay?”
“I’m fine. Let’s grab some drinks and go dance with Yunjin~” You nudge him playfully. Yeonjun laughs before dragging you off, not even bothering to give your implications an actual response.
The rest of your night is spent dancing with your girls (and occasionally Yeonjun), keeping Hyein away from alcohol, and drowning yourself in alcohol while pretending you can’t feel the way Heeseung’s stares follow you around.

The next two days before the party are spent buying the proper materials to make sure you look hot as fuck in a the-best-revenge-is-living-well type way.
Wonyoung wasn’t too worried of course, once she found the right shade of concealer to cover up your massive eyebags (one day she was gonna sit you down and discuss the importance of a proper sleep schedule with you) she found her job to be incredibly easy. The only issue was finding the right dress.
“I don’t want this dress!” You cried out in horror.
She frowned at you. “What’s wrong with it?” You look between her and the ‘dress’ she has in her hands, if it can even be called that. It’s black, purely straps, and would leave little to the imagination.
“I’m trying to say ‘I’m doing well without you’ not ‘My sugar daddy asked me to wear this for him’!”
“But I am asking you to wear this.”
“This is all straps! Where is the actual dress part??” You reached from the tag. “It’s not even a dress! Put it back.”
Wonyoung rolls her eyes at you. “Fine. I’m just trying to make sure you look hot. I’m a paid model you know, I know what I’m doing.”
“Make me look hot in clothing that won’t get me arrested for public indecency please.”
“Okayyy.” She groans, looking around until some chains catch her eye. “Oh? What about this one?”
You stare at it for a minute. It’s still a bit revealing but significantly better than the other thing Wonyoung tried to get you to wear. You nod your head in approval. “I like it.”
“Good.” She rifles through the rack looking for your size. “It was this or you go shopping with Yunjin instead.”
“You say that like it’s a bad thing.”
“It is. Last time I went shopping with her and Hyein, she tried to put Hyein in some granny panties.” Wonyoung walks away to pay leaving you to grimace at the mental image.
Then you think about the party.
Honestly, going to that party was the last thing you wanted to do, especially knowing for a fact that Heeseung, your ex, was going to be there with his new girlfriend, but it was way too late to back out. So now you were just hoping that you don’t make a fool of yourself in front of him.
Wonyoung pulls you out of your thoughts with a tap on your shoulder. “You ready to go? I think Minji was saying something about ice cream in the group chat.”
“Ou, yes. Let’s get out of here.”

“This is all straps! Where is the actual dress part??” You reached from the tag. “It’s not even a dress! Put it back.”
Wonyoung rolls her eyes at you. “Fine. I’m just trying to make sure you look hot. I’m a paid model you know, I know what I’m doing.”
“Make me look hot in clothing that won’t get me arrested for public indecency please.”
“Okayyy.” She groans, looking around until some chains catch her eye. “Oh? What about this one?”
You stare at it for a minute. It’s still a bit revealing but significantly better than the other thing Wonyoung tried to get you to wear. You nod your head in approval. “I like it.”
“Good.” She rifles through the rack looking for your size. “It was this or you go shopping with Yunjin instead.”
“You say that like it’s a bad thing.”
“It is. Last time I went shopping with her and Hyein, she tried to put Hyein in some granny panties.” Wonyoung walks away to pay leaving you to grimace at the mental image.
Then you think about the party.
Honestly, going to that party was the last thing you wanted to do, especially knowing for a fact that Heeseung, your ex, was going to be there with his new girlfriend, but it was way too late to back out. So now you were just hoping that you don’t make a fool of yourself in front of him.
Wonyoung pulls you out of your thoughts with a tap on your shoulder. “You ready to go? I think Minji was saying something about ice cream in the group chat.”
“Ou, yes. Let’s get out of here.”
