The Pianist and the Passerby: An Excerpt
“I feel as if I’m drunk on love, rather than alcohol,” the pianist said, staring Vance in the eye, but really only looking through him. “I am drunk on the rain. The pounding of the rain on the windows has my gut running with the most pleasurable feeling, and I can not bring myself to interrupt its one-note tune.” He spun in a circle and leaped closer to Vance, messily, but in a way that Vance himself had jumped onto the windowsill.
"I am drunk on you," Vance whispered to himself, watching the pianist spin around as a dancer would, tips of toes pointed and fingers dancing elegantly through the air. He turned to the window and began dancing towards it, and Vance watched the rain's song dig through the pianist's skin. He itched to reach out and pull the pianist along with him to dance to the rain as Vance danced to the piano.

He did not think there was enough here for him, as he desired to fall away and be swept up by the arms of his own body as they recede into themselves. They dance around the notes and his feet tap the ground softly with the rhythm until he must move them, and with that comes his leap, the final move. When he would leap to clear a path for the notes, he would leap away from the windowsill, catching himself on the toes of his right foot as he felt the music detach from him and fall away into nothing as the pianist would finish his work to the end of the piece.
