Why not have another adventure? Jane, if there’s a chance to live, you have to take it.

The way Thor starts the scene one way and ends in the completely opposite direction in both tone and position by the end. He had made nebulous plans with Jane right before all this about going on adventures and living like there’s no tomorrow. To which she enthusiastically agreed to. But now he’s been told she will die if she picks up the hammer one more time. He needs to stop her. Period.

He hopes a casual, jovial tone will do the job - ‘Imma go pick up the kids and be back’ - like he’s talking about picking up their kids from school. When it doesn’t work, he cuts to the chase and tells her straightforwardly - ‘the hammer is killing you’. When that doesn’t work either, only then he takes the stern tone - ‘if there’s a chance to live, you have to take it’.

[Trigger Warning: Cancer] Jane, on the other hand, has latched onto his promises of going on adventures and living like there’s no tomorrow. If her end comes doing that, she at least got to be with Thor and be happy during her last days. So, of course, she doesn’t understand how he can go without her. All she needs to do is take these stupid syringes out and they’re good to go. She genuinely doesn’t understand why on Earth Thor would want her to stay in the stupid hospital and treat herself unsuccessfully to die when she can go have fun and then die.

So, after all these years, he finally says it, and her reaction says it all what it means to her. All while it’s as obvious as can be for him. She doesn’t know he gave up the throne for her while envisioning her as his Queen ruling by his side. He sees her and him as he sees his father and mother. She is his heart and soul, it’s obvious - ‘I’ve always loved you’.

It’s so unfortunate that this moment had to come like this in a hospital room.

He knows she will never do that for herself so he begs her to do it for him. To stay, for him. What’s interesting is that even when he’s begging her, he still has the commanding tone and position. It gives an insight into their relationship that he just can’t help his princely ways and has to decide for them.

He did the same in Thor2 when he just took her (not asking or even telling) to Asgard upon seeing that she was sick. Again when he gently spoke over her that he’ll take care of the matter as she said Odin thinks there is no way to get the Aether out of her. (Later Odin speaks the same way to Frigga about the skirmish.)

Jane’s clearly always been fine with Thor being this way because she trusts him and he knows she trusts him, so it works. Like when she goes to talk to him enroute Shadow Realm, she knew all she had to say was 'hey’ and he would do all the talking himself.

Now here, despite being so hardwired to decide for them all the time, Thor makes the choice to relinquish all power and gives it to her. He lowers himself to her level (equals), explains his side, and gives her the final say. His tone is not commanding or stern anymore, but soft. She agrees, of course. Not for herself. For him.

He moves to kiss her and sits on the chair, lowering himself beneath her - completely and utterly giving her power over him. He is hers and she gets to decide for them. He even kisses her hand reverently. A complete opposite in tone and position from moments ago when he was towering over her and demanding.

I was watching ThorJane edits by Indian fans (they love them <3) and damn it the Hindi dubbed version continues to be head and shoulders above the original:

'I want to feel shitty about you' changed to 'I want to break for you'

I'm really sorry I won't be able to make the set because I don't like making sets that show something that isn't happening in the scene/misrepresent it. Marvel will have to show them waking up together for me to make it 😤. But yes you're right it does look like it 😭

Count me as one person who was weary of Chris as Optimus (OP is one of my favorites and I have high standards), but I was pleasantly surprised in the trailer. He sounded great, and actually one reason Chris was great as Thor was that he handled all the emotional extremes of the character, even surpassing the material itself. And you need that for Optimus/Orion. Also, his Orion seems pretty mischievous and I honestly like it. It's also sweet that he reached out to Peter.

Loyal fans were rightfully worried abt an actor/celebrity stepping in. But I hate how they were dismissing him without ever hearing him:

So I'm happy he is getting praise for the work he put in. He became Optimus instead of making Optimus his, if that makes sense - actually worked to get the voice/tone down, got Cullen himself to help him. So, he's got his approval too.

I've seen fans speculate that when Orion becomes Optimus, Cullen will take over and I highly doubt it. You do not get the expensive Chris Hemsworth for half a movie. He's fully taking over as Optimus I believe.

Yeah I love Optimus too. And I LOVE the direction they're going - making him carefree adventurous instead of studious introvert. This will make the transition to the righteous calm Optimus we know so so so delicious. I'm so here for it!

Not to mention seeing Optimus and Megatron be besties before they become sworn enemies.
