Been poking Astarion in my current run and interestingly enough he doesn't even disapprove of most of the shitty answers you can give him. I did it mostly to see if he would leave (because I assumed companions would just leave if they didn't like you but no matter how hard I tried, he stayed in the party).
Love that you can quote cazador's number 1 rule at his face without even knowing about it when you let him bite you and talk to him later.
Tumblr media
It's literally "thou shalt not drink the blood of thinking creatures" (Astarion did actually disapprove of this answer, funnily enough)
Also, I forced him to eat the worm and I picked the wisdom option for the first time. At this point I don't even know why Astarion isn't leaving my ass.
Tumblr media
Posting these cuz I know y'all are cowards who would never say any of this to him and sometimes I just wanna set traumatized (fictional!) characters on fire and study how long it takes for them to turn to ash.

The Baldur's Gate 3 rabbit hole is so real y'all. I started playing like 2-3 months ago and just hit 600 hours overall.
It's been eating all my free time fr because for some reason I just have the urge to replay it over and over to the point of finishing a new playthrough within 10-15 hours over a couple of days. I can't stop.
Please send help.

Wake up people, I replayed shadows of Valentia.
Did it on Hard/Classic too, this time, so for once I have the 'hardest difficulty' experience. I was overusing the 'I've been defeated but I can't fall here'(/retreat) mechanic to be honest but if I didn't I wouldn't have been able to do it without casualties soo...
Now, the obligatory character tier list, but only based on gameplay and not on how much I like them (except for the yellow tier ig)
Tumblr media
I honestly can't say too much about the characters I barely used. Like, I tried to train the Pegasus sisters but Palla and Catria did not make any impression because their damage output was pretty bad. The rest was just higher level than the rest of my units but still somehow worse so I didn't even bother.
Leon, Valbar and Clive honestly just make me feel bad because I tried to make them work but Leon and Clive kept getting one-rounded without being able to do substantial amoubts of damage and Valbar was not at all doing the tanking he should have done.
I honestly liked to use all the units in the middle tier but if I sent all of them together to defeat an enemy squad half their size they wouldn't be able to defeat them in one turn so it's really just a shame. They're still relatively good units and either deal somewhat high damage or have somewhat high defense. So they're, in one word, passable.
The orange tier consists of units that are really good as long as I don't accidentally trade away the weapon or ring they have. The mages in this tier tend to be too fragile to be in enemy range too often, Faye is too slow to consistently Nosferatu tank despite her high defense and Jesse would not do as much damage if he didn't have his 60%crit Brave sword. I could go on but to put it short, these characters are able to defeat a few enemies on their own when the situation is in their favour.
The babygurls are most accurately characterized by saying that I've put each of them into a group of enemies on their own and they have held their own, thrived even. Claire is a very consistent Mogall killer, with high enough speed to double them. Lukas has not had any encounter with a physical enemy that dealt more than 1 damage exactly to him since act one and, additionally to that, he also has high speed and attack. So really, he's good for any physical confrontation. Tobin, as my favourite character in this game (although my phone just autocorrected his name to Robin) has enjoyed a lot of training as an archer and was so much better than Python on the same level it's not even funny. He's got somewhat high defense and very high skill, reaching respectable crit chances without any support. I honestly know his crit quotes by heart so that's got to tell you how good he is. Silque is a pretty good Nosferatu tank and her invoke soldiers are good mage killers and distractions to boot.
Lastly, Alm and Celica. They got to their max level very fast and when I started using them less, I really felt their absence. They have both accomplished several solos when my other characters were too fragile to fight and are still just as crucial in gameplay even when you ignore their status as the main characters.

Been letting my gf play Jedi Fallen Order for a bit because she's barely played any videogames in her life and that's just such a waste tbh.
She's currently on a streak of five in solving the riddles/puzzles in ways that they're not supposed to be solved in and it's getting pretty impressive at this point because each time I'm just "there's no way that'll work🤨" and it just does? Like the majority of the riddles were during the second visit on zeffo in the crash site area and she'll just pull some crazy easier solution that's not supposed to work but it works.
So in honour of my gf I made a meme (I think that's my love language idk)

Since I can't have Jedi Survivor, I'll torture myself with Fallen Order instead. Grandmaster difficulty this time.
I feel like once I've beaten it, I'll have completed my character arc

I got totk a week ago, played it for a few days (in which I got the sages, Yiga questlines and some other shit)and I really wanted to avoid doing the Chasms at first.
Then I found out about the chasm outfits, which I needed wanted to have. It was painful, I wasted so many arrows just shooting the brightbloom seeds into the unknown..
At some point I made the discovery that you can now throw shit. It's not told to you from what I could tell, apart from a singular shrine that teaches it to you. After that I gave up on weaponry and (with the help of some Yiga Kung Fu) fistfought and exploded all my enemies.
Throwing the brightbloom seeds made everything a whole lot easier and then- Lightroots are actually just at the same spot as shrines??? Lakes and Seas turn into unclimbable walls??? Mountains turn into deeper areas the higher they are???
Suffice to say, I don't really need that much light anymore in order to explore the chasms- I can just open the surface area mini map for the most part. Also, I'm super glad I avoided any spoilers or online tips like the pest, because it feels so much better to find it out for myself

The infuriating part of having pretty neutral opinions in general but still having the urge to disagree with anyone and everyone no matter what they think or if I'd agree with them normally, really is that I know how they could beat me but they don't. I keep winning discussions or at least come to a mutual agreement by the end but I never really reach the conclusion that I'm wrong just solely from the other person's argument.
And that's not because I'm just so good at discussions or am just on the right side of the disagreement. It's because so many people try to take apart good arguments, which they mostly fail at, instead of making their own point.
Take Ingrid for example. I hate her but objectively speaking, I see that people can easily see themselves in her since she's a pretty basic character. Good for them. So instead of trying to say that it's not racist to say that children, medics, non-combatants in general deserve to be slaughtered just for living in the same place as a select group of people who have wronged you, you can tell me that Ingrid has ambiguous character development in her support with Dedue that can be read as a "you're different from the other black people" but can also be seen as her recognizing that her own prejudices are bad. That argument would be further supported if you look at other translations of the support. Most are as ambiguous as the English one but the Spanish translation for example clearly has Ingrid go through a redemptive arc not only concerning Dedue but the people of Duscur in general.
But most Ingrid lovers don't bring that argument to the table because they're not trying to convince you or have an open discussion, they just want to prove you wrong.
It's so sad to see, since communicating and listening to other people, is so important, especially if they have an opinion that differs from your own

Ingrid fans be wildin💀 I read through a couple online arguments of why she's actually a good character and not racist and just.. the best were "it's realistic for the time period" which, sure, but also are u dumb?? What time period? It's vaguely medieval looking but that's it. Are u forgetting that you're not in reality anymore when you play videogames? It's intsys' world and we're just living in it. They wrote Ingrid's character to be racist and they sure as hell didn't do it because it's "realistic for the time period".
Another funny one is that "her character is better in Three hopes"... Duh? She's not racist anymore but that doesn't make her more interesting, it just makes her more boring. I also love that, when I commented that Ingrid is racist, because she is, I was asked the genius question of "Did you even play the game? Did you read through her supports? Did you understand her character development?" And as someone with anxiety I did indeed ask myself these questions and yes, my Nintendo switch still tells me 1000 hours playtime, I still remember going through her supports, tormenting myself, just because I wanted to prove that, in disliking Ingrid, there is reason.
I've seen people say that they like Ingrid's character development and her "journey navigating toxic chivalric culture and her own gender" and I just gotta say, good for y'all who can find enjoyment in her character.
I'd probably find that stuff, at least in an attempted state if I went looking for it but considering I had to think for a bit because all that didn't sound familiar, I think it's sufficient to say that didn't work for me. Especially the gender stuff probably refers to either her make-up struggles or the arranged marriage stuff but that's barely appliable in the 3H Universe.
Every time any playable character says anything misogynistic towards Ingrid it seems wildly out of character and the struggle with Makeup seems to originate from Ingrid herself. It's like she has modern day problems in a world where those problems shouldn't or don't normally exist. It's the same as Sully back in Awakening saying men underestimate her while every playable man supports her in their convos. They're both girlbossing around, or at least they would be but since we don't see the oppression part we don't get to believe the liberation unless we imagine the oppression to exist

The difference between Nil and Rafal is literally so funny because mid dlc Nil is a literal hit from a feather away from dying meanwhile Rafal is one of my Tanks and also an absolute crit mashine.
Also Gregory is one of the best mages I've ever used, like I once defeated a Berserker, a Sage and a corrupted Wyrm with one (1) Cataclysm late game and he's literally the Louis of mages with his res
