Things that have helped me feel closer to my deities:

Praying before their altars (bonus points if you write your own)

Read books other than their myths (books you think they’d enjoy themselves)

Meditating with them

Learn about magickal subjects related to them

Dedicate a journal for notes and document experiences you have with that deity (including moments where they’ve assisted you and any divination conversations you’ve had with them)

Listen to their messages and follow through with them

Light incense that reminds you of them

Find artwork that feels like that deity and hang, print or save them

Divination Methods (Runes, Tarot, Pendulums, Bone Throwing, etc.)

Watch content on different subjects they’re related to (documentaries on death, relationships, crime, etc.)

Dedicate, care, and/or name pets, plants, plushies, etc to them

Learn not just their pantheon and myths but the culture that influenced them

Wear jewelry dedicated to them (bonus if you have that deity enchant them with protection)

Share meals with them

Thinking of them in passing (like “hey that thing reminds me of *insert deity*”)

Talk casually at their altars and give them an itinerary of your day

Define your relationship with that deity and refer to them accordingly (if its a more formal/in reverence, use a formal title. if it’s warm/personal, use an affectionate name.)

lucifer: exploration through tarot

i'm merely doing this as an example for the tarot spread i posted, as i already know a lot about lucifer due to experience and research. however, i may be compelled to do this for other spirits i work with, as a quick and dirty guide.

what represents lucifer?

what i playfully dub as "the icon" of lucifer, is what remains in the deepest part of his core. it is what represents him the most accurately, what sticks closest to his story, his values, all balled up into one card. what the icon of lucifer is, is that moment of relief once your fears have been proven wrong. it is when you let go of a big secret, and the exposure of a deep truth has emerged. he also states by the card picked, that he represents repressed emotions being released, and the moment of mental clarity and ecstasy after a deep confession.

what are the most important aspects of lucifer?

his bond with his worshipers is immediately represented within the cards i chose. how much he loves them unconditionally, sees their pain, and encourages them to take care of themselves under every circumstance. he may take on a parental role, a role of a close friend, a guardian, or perhaps even a romantic partner - either way, he longs to be there for them on a very personal level. that's what he considered the most important to highlight regarding his aspects and personality.

what is lucifer's story?

being betrayed by the grandest, purest love in all of the universe. but from that, came release from what trapped him - he no longer existed to serve anyone but himself. from that, came a newfound love. perhaps not a love as renowned as god's love, but still a love that changes lives. he was able to connect with humanity on a huge scale, more than he ever could when he served the heavens. the final card says he was "grounded," which made me chuckle. despite the pain it caused him, he seems to carry humour about it.

what are lucifer's domains and associations?

the ultimate, seemingly unending struggle (particularly with the divine)

confusion, betrayal, hostility from someone in power, such as a parent, a boss, etc

the feeling of being divinely nurtured; unending generosity from someone you love

not being able to meet someone's expectations of you

what are ways to honor lucifer?

questioning leadership; not always mindlessly obeying those in power

retreating when you need to, don't hold your ground if it's going to get you hurt

having pride, in every sense of the word, and nurturing yourself from that pride, much like someone you love would. love yourself, worship yourself.

researching, gaining as much knowledge as you can

standing against social injustice, he really means this, you must stand up for those who are being repeatedly disadvantaged, tortured, or hurt

there is something so mortifying and traumatic about deconverting from christianity from an ethical standpoint as opposed to truth-seeking. you're sitting there, picking fights with god over everything he's done and encouraged, knowing full well that you're consigning yourself to unfathomable eternal torment, and only after that do you question if he's real. and those are burnt bridges that cannot be rebuilt. even if you proved the biblical god to me beyond a shadow of a doubt, i could never return to the church. all you'd have done is shown me that when i accepted damnation i was right to do so.

Low Energy Devotional Activities and Ways to Connect with the Gods

Let's be honest, religion and consistent practice can be HARD, especially when you're chronically ill, disabled, mentally ill or neurodivergent. This is a list of lower energy practices you can do to connect with your Gods when you're having a rough day.

Pray. You don't have to say the prayer. You don't have to do the full cleansing and offering. Just think about the prayer. It could be as simple as "'Deity Name', thank you. I'm thinking of you and appreciate you."

Dedicate any self care you do to the Gods. You've got to take meds? awesome. it's now a devotional activity.

If you can, light a tea light candle. You can think about who you're dedicating it to as you're lighting it.

Tell them about your day. Have a simple conversation with them (again, this can be in your head if needed).

Offer some water! Water is a great offering if you don’t have the energy to cook, collect or buy something.

Incense is also a great offering because you can light it then forget about it and your house won’t burn down (if you follow regular safety measures). 

Resting. Your deities want you to be okay. Dedicating your rest to your deities is especially great if you feel guilty for allowing yourself time to heal.

Turn on a video of someone reading mythos! 

Put on a deity playlist. There are plenty of pre-made ones on Spotify. 

Veil or bind your hair! Whenever I’m low energy I’ll throw my hair in a ponytail and bind it that way. It doesn’t have to be extravagant. 

Make a Pinterest board for them!

Post on a digital altar! There are plenty of discord servers that have digital altars and temples. You could also make a devotional Tumblr blog. 

Change your phone lock/home screen to something that reminds you of your Deity.

I hope this is helpful to anyone who needs it! Take care of yourself first and foremost. If you don't think you can manage something on this list then thats perfectly fine too! you're not a bad person for not being able to do something spiritual or religious. Ultimately, these things are not a necessity. Don't stress :)

Soooooo Martin discovers a door in the tunnels when Jane attacks, and afterwards, he keeps dreaming about the door. Eventually, he goes looking for it. He's not expecting to find a multi story library behind it, working electricity, or a man chained to a wall, reading a book. He's definitely not expecting the man to drop the book upon the sight of him and he's not expecting the man to try and reach him like he's desperate for it. Or the wings. Martin isn't prepared for the wings either. Good Lord, he's found an angel, locked away under the Institute. The man (Angel) is striking and beautiful, even if he does have too many eyes sometimes and also (the bloody giant wings???? what the fuck???) and he (It???????) seems to know Martin. Or wants to, deeply. The problem is, Martin doesn't understand, and he doesn't feel the same. (except for concern for its??? his?? well being, because I'M SORRY WHAT THE FUCK?) Martin doesn't understand why it doesn't just tell him what it wants, until he realizes it cannot speak. Then he gets the bright idea to use one of the mouldering books (some are newer, he notes) to write like a message or something. Then the Angel rips it out of his hands (okay, rude) and stuffs the page into its mouth (what the fuck, again) and... then it speaks, in a voice both raspy and emotional, it tells him its name. Its name is Jon, and its been waiting 200 years to meet him.

Tea blend for Apollo

OK its currently almost 5 in the morning and I cant sleep, but I've been thinking a lot about tea blends, and I have one I want to test out for Apollon, so I'm putting it on here. I don't have any measurements, because I don't have all the ingredients on hand at the moment, and because I continuously make tea without any measurements (My sleepytime tea is made with pure vibes but it works) <3
