I looked at Sergei’s sneering face, and my power rose up with clear and vicious purpose. I raised my arm. If they needed a lesson, I would give it to them. They could argue over the pieces of Sergei’s body. My hand arced through the air, slicing toward him. The light was a blade honed sharp by my fury.
What the absolute fuck?!
For the record this is all Sergei said:
“Alina, you are the Sun Summoner, and we’re grateful for your safe return, but you aren’t qualified to run a military campaign.”
“Qualified or not, I have the King’s blessing.”
“Then we will petition the King. The Corporalki are the highest-ranking Grisha and should lead the Second Army.”
He was then insulted by Zoya and when Zoya insulted Marie he merely said, "That’s enough, Zoya."
The other Grisha then begin to voice their own concerns, for instance that Alina's loyalty is murky at best, and it's Alina's guards who escalate things!
Toyla reaches for his sword! He reaches for his sword! And threatens to stop Sergei's heart!
Sergei has been holding the Little Palace together, he responds with a reasonable protest to Alina's appointment, and this is what he gets in return?
What the absolute fuck, Alina. Get yourself and your attack dogs collared.
The hero is more of a tyrant than Aleksander ever was.
“You think the Darkling is powerful?” I asked, startled by the icy clarity of my voice. “You have no idea what he is capable of. Only I have seen what he can do. Only I have faced him and lived to tell about it.”
I guess this is your "all shall love me and despair" moment, Alina.
"If you want to remain at the Little Palace, you will follow me. And if you don’t like it, you will be gone by tonight, or I will have you in chains."
Just go. I know it is frightening to leave your only home, but you need to walk out. Don't let her finish this speech. Leave her as queen of nothing.

Hear me out: the hot tall dark and mysterious vampire/immortal/other kind of mystical creature boyfriend will always be supperior to the boring basic “normal joe” bf, (no matter how toxic their relationship with the mc is). At least the toxicity is usually rooted in the fictional aspect of their relationship, (like their age gap, or idk killing somebody close to the mc). But the “normal joe”s are always just controlling and jealous in a very “every other guy you find on tinder” kinda way.
