I just want to say: Iâm so proud of you. I wish you all the best in your journey, because they are so hard. But the journey is also the best part of a story. Youâre doing the work and thatâs all that matters at the end of the day. Iâm so happy that I was able to contribute even the smallest bit to your relief and happiness. So thank you for sharing this part of you and I hope you achieve peace. â¤ď¸
First of all good day to everyone of you.
Is the first time in years that I'm writing a post made from my very soul. I remember when I first started this blog and it was because of a very beautiful Fanfic written by @floatingpetals
I just wanted to thank all the fanfic writers in here. You all cannot imagine how much you have help me with every one of your words. I used to live in my self deprecating world. I have a mental illness, you see. I used to suffer of hallucinations, paranoia, anxiety, social anxiety and hate myself, still sometimes I do. But when I read your works, when I got lost in the beautiful sea that is you head, created with all your wishes to transmit the feelings you were having... I felt I little more me than every medicine could make me feel... â¤ď¸
My family has never been a good support for me, not emotionally, what I needed the most, and what I think every one needs the most. So I seek my own family without even realising I was watching for one. You all, fanfic writers, creators of unique and complex worlds, soft, naughty, sad and many many times sensual worlds saved me when I never even knew I needed saving. You took me there and held me and heard me without I had to even open my mouth to explain myself and even now I remember and I cry because it has been a Lot.
In the fanfics the reader always gets comfort by the characters, always gets help (wink, wink Thor and Loki ) So I decided I wanted to get help too.
I went to therapy, and I'm slowly building the pieces of the Me that I know are still with me. It is a hard process, it takes days of thinking, coming back and rethinking it. I have to put a stop to my family wishes, to them wanting so so much from me i have to break myself in pieces to confort them, to be their first one to talk to and leaving My self esteem behind, leaving behind my mental health.
I have read in you art works how the reader is strong so I decided to become the main protagonist in my life. And sadly I can't read anymore. The mental struggles had taken away things I used to enjoy and one of them is reading.
I used to spend nights and nights getting lost in books, fantasy, romance, comedy, science fiction and of course, the life of my life in that moment Your Writings but today, after three months of therapy and working on me I found out that my time has passed. I cannot look back when I'm walking ahead.
So I decided to write this letter, because I needed, I WANT to Thank You and let you know that even if I don't think I will come back in here often You all have saved me in ways I cannot express, I don!t know if you will read until here, i don't even know if you are gonna agree with me. But I couldn't care more, not because I don't care about all of you but because that's the healthiest thing I am learning to do. Care about me first and I wanted you to know that to. Care about you all first. Reach your limits to Your speed and slow down to Your speed. Write for you or for the feelings you can taste in the world.
And Thank You. Thank you so much.
I am healing and I can see the world now because you all kept me alive enough to step for myself in here.
With Love, Isabel.

Chapter 9: The Captured
The trees are a blur as the car roars forward. The bewildered and angry faces of Dustin and Steve in the rearview mirror sparks a twinge of guilt. Itâs better this way though, they donât need to be involved. Itâs bad enough that Max and Billy are involved. Groaning as the two men in the car pull out behind Billy but in front of Steve. You can feel how startled Steve is and his growing panic as he realizes whatâs happening.Â
Billy glances behind him and growls out, âFriends of yours?âÂ
âSomething like thatâŚâ you say absentmindedly as you assess the situation behind you.Â
Realizing that they have far more information than you would like punches you in the gut as town quickly approaches.Â
You make a decision.
âPull over.â
The order hangs in the air.Â
âAre you crazy?!â Max yells, pulling herself forward in the seat, âTheyâll catch you!â
âThatâs the point,â you say emotionlessly as you regard her.Â
âNo!â
âWhat is going on here!?â Billy yells angrily beside you.
âTheyâre going to take her!â Max screams turning to Billy, âYou canât stop! Sheâs going to give herself up to save us!â
âFuck that,â Billy says as he revs the engine and makes an abrupt turn to the right. The car behind you all skids but makes the turn at the last minute.Â
âYou need to let me do this,â you say calmly.Â
âLike Hell I do!â he says rage in his voice.Â
You huff in annoyance, âThey will succeed, if not today, someday.â
âThen itâs not going to be today,â Billy says, taking another abrupt turn trying to throw them off your trail.Â
âYou need to let me do this,â you say matter of factly.
The alleyway you find yourselves in is a dead end. Billy curses and slams his hands on the steering wheel as you get out of the car.Â
âNo!â Max yells as you exit the car, Billy reaching for you a moment too late.Â
You turn to the men, each of them pointing a gun at you. Steve pulls up behind them a moment later and grabs his bat from the back seat.Â
âSteve⌠DonâtâŚâ you murmur tiredly.Â
âThey canât have you!â Steve yells.
âItâs okayâŚâ you soothe them.
âSo youâre coming quietly?â questions one of the men.Â
âYes.â
âGood choice,â the other murmurs as he pulls the trigger.Â
The panic from those around you is palpable as you fall to the floor the dart sticking out of your neck. Steve and Billy make to run towards you before they turn to the men and to rush them.Â
With the last of your strength your message echoes in their minds, âDonât forgetâŚâ
***
Horror fills them as they watch her fall to the ground. Her eyes roll back into her head and everything goes silent before the rush of rage brings everyone snapping back to reality. Billy pulls back and punches the nearest man as a tranquilizer dart flies towards him. Steve falls next his bat rolling uselessly to the side. Max and Dustin panic and scream as they rush to Steve and Billy.Â
Max whips around in just enough time to see the two men haul her up and throw her limp body in the back seat of the car. Methodically, as if kidnapping is second nature to these monsters, they move Steveâs car. Dustin is struggling to pull Steve out of the way.Â
Max cries out in sadness, feeling helpless, as her friend vanished from sight around the bend. Sheâs left with her unconscious brother and a panicking Dustin.
âWhat do we do!?â Yells Dustin snapping Max from her shock.
âI donât know!â She yells back, anger masking her fear.Â
âWe have to do something!â Dustin yells as he paces back and forth. He would periodically rake his fingers through his hair.Â
âLike what!?â Max screeches back fists flying to her side in rage and frustration.
With no small amount of effort the two preteens drag their older and heavier brother figures into Billyâs car. The two young men are slumped together unceremoniously in the back seat as Max takes the wheel of Billyâs car.Â
âAre you sure about this?â Dustin asks, hesitation clear in his voice. The memory of the last time Max drove clear in his mind.
âZoomer. Remember?,â She says pointing at herself in confidence, âBesides, you didnât die last time,â she says flipping her hair over her shoulder.
âIt was dark last time! No one was on the road! Itâs the middle of the morning!â Dustin argues crossing his arms.
âStop being such a baby! Itâll be fine!â She exclaims, frustration seeping into her voice.Â
With that, she starts up the car and nervously pulls out onto the road. Slowly the preteens make their way to the police station. Not without many near misses and loud honks of other drivers.Â
The preteens jump from the vehicle and rush into the police station yelling for Hopper as they do so.
âWhat are you two doing here? Why arenât you in school?â Hopper asks in bewilderment coming out of his office. The receptionist unable to control the duo before her.Â
âThey took (Name)!â Both Max and Dustin yell in a panic turning towards the confused chief of police.Â
***
When you wake up you are strapped to a chair with a helmet over your head. Your head is completely silent for the first time in your life, and if you werenât concerned with figuring a way out of this, you would be enjoying it more. The room is dark save for the single fluorescent light in the very center of the room. There are one-way windows on one side of the room and you can practically feel the eyes of the people on the other side.Â
A man that you recognize from your childhood enters the room and regards you as a science experiment. Heâs wearing a brown suit with a cigarette dangling from his mouth. He hasnât changed much except for the now graying hair on his balding head.Â
âThree⌠How have you been? You are quite the sneaky little thing arenât you?â he asks conversationally as he sits down across from you at the table.
Your answer is an emotionless gaze. You can feel yourself retreating back into your mind as the man in front of you regards you the same way as so many years ago. Like an experiment, as if you are less than him.Â
âWhere have you been hiding all this time, hmmm? With Melanie Snow perhaps?â he quips pulling the cigarette from his lips. The smell burns your nostrils as he releases a puff of smoke.Â
You feel your chest constrict as he mentions her name.Â
âI see youâve made friends with a Steve Harrington? A Dustin Henderson? A Maxine Mayfield? A William Hargrove?â
âThey arenât my friends, they are annoyances,â you answer monotonously.Â
âAnnoyances?â he sounds almost amused.
âYes⌠If it wasnât for them your lackeys would be dead,â you spit the words at the man fire in your eyes as you regard him coolly.Â
âDead, you say? You would do that?â he asks leaning forward on his elbows.
âIâm not a child anymore,â your voice is ice.
âNo⌠I suppose not⌠However, we will be picking up where we left off. Perhaps we will see the results that we want after all this time.â
With that, he gets up and leaves the room. You keep your mind calm and clear as you access the situation you are in.Â
Itâs not long before a couple of men in white come into the room and push you from the chair. Their handling is far rougher than it should be as you walk down the hallway. You can hear the cries of a few children, but you keep your face void of any emotion. The room they take you to is the same one from your childhood. You see the number three on the wall and suppress a shudder. You are shoved inside, but before the door is shut you turn to the man behind you and lock eyes with him.Â
âYou know⌠cheating on your wife when sheâs pregnant with your child is disgusting.â
The look on his face as the door closes is priceless.
***
âWe have to help her!â yells Dustin as he paces the living room floor of (Name)âs house.
âCan Elle find her?â questions Steve his hand in his hair as he sits on the couch.Â
âDamnit!â curses Billy as he punches the arm of the chair heâs in, âWhat good is this?âÂ
Steve and Billy had woken up in a panic upon realizing what happened. They had given their statement to Hopper, who had been very displeased that Max had driven to the police station while the boys were unconscious, but thatâs a talk for another day. They went to break the news to Melanie which is how they found themselves setting up camp in the Snow living room.Â
âHey just calm down man! Weâre going to figure something out!â Clenching his teeth against the pain in his head. The tranquilizer making his head pound with the leftover drugs still coursing through him.Â
âWell, what can this Elle girl do?â he rounds on him anger radiating off of his person.
âMore than you!â yells Dustin.
âHey! Yelling about everything isnât going to solve this!â yells Max.Â
âSheâs rightâŚâ laments Melanie, âSheâs going to have to get herself out of this.â
âBut Elle can-â Dustin begins.
âShe would be putting herself in danger!â Hopper interrupts, âYou donât know how they found her, they could do the same to Elle.â
âWe canât just do nothing!â yells Billy as he stands up from his seat and takes a step towards Hopper.Â
âIâm not risking Elle being found. That doesnât mean we arenât going to do anything.â Hopper holds his stare until Billy backs down.Â
âWhy do you care anyway?â Dustin asks looking over at Billy in confusion.
âWhy do I-?â he looks angrily at Dustin, âBecause-â He trails off looking unsure of himself for just a moment before his anger covers it up. âNone of your business twerp!âÂ
âWill everyone just calm down?â Yells Hopper trying to maintain peace.Â
âHow?! How are we supposed to do that?â Asks Dustin shaking his head in frustration.
âCan someone just do something?!â screeches Melanie before she collapses to the floor crying.Â
Everyone is silent as they regard her, each of them thinking the same thing...
âBut what can we do?â
***
The next few days you sit quietly in your old room listening. Your powers while not entirely snuffed out are muffled and it isnât long until the helmet is replaced with another stronger one. You donât mind as much they think you do as you feign sleep all the while listening.Â
Itâs in sleep that you feel him though. Heâs frantic and angry and feels very alone.Â
You canât blame yourself for this. You say calmly regarding him.Â
His eyes widen when he sees you sitting there on his bed.Â
âYou got out?!â he says getting up and coming towards you.
No⌠I am still thereâŚ
âHow are you able toâŚ?â
We have a connection Billy⌠Perhaps itâs our emotions that bind us⌠We understand hurt better than mostâŚ
âYou let them take you!â he explodes, âYou could have fought them! We could have fought them! Max is⌠Max is really upset! And damn Harrington! He- Damn it!â He yells angrily picking up a can of hairspray and throwing it against the wall.
It had to happenâŚ
âNo, it didnât! I could have⌠done something... protected youâŚâ He sits down on the bed defeated, his elbows resting on his knees.
Youâre silent for a moment, âThere are bigger things at play than you understand. They would not stop and I had to think of more than just myselfâŚâ
âBullshit.â
Tell them not to worryâŚÂ
âNot to worry?!â he yells, âYouâve been captured by some freak show scientists, and no one is supposed to worry?!â he jumps up from the bed and towers over you breathing heavily in his rage.
You regard him silently with the same patience that you always have.Â
Trust meâŚ
With that, you vanish from his mind. Blinking you are abruptly woken up by the sound of a little metal flap swinging as food is shoved into your cell. You sigh as you glare at the hard bread and porridge that is sitting in the bowl. Itâs important that you keep your strength up though itâs imperative to your plan. You pick up the tray and begin to eat.
***
âWhat do you mean you saw her?â Steve asks, disbelief clear in his voice. He hadnât been sure what to think when Billy asked to meet him behind the school, but this wasnât what he expected.Â
âI told you! I saw her okay?! I donât get it either!â Billy yells all while trying to keep his voice down. He doesnât need anyone seeing him and Harrington talking behind the school, too many questions.Â
âBut why did you see her and not me? Iâm her friend!â Steve says defensively and maybe a little jealously. Why were you talking to Billy and not him?
âIâm her friend too! You arenât the only one!âÂ
âYeah right! What have you ever done for her huh?âÂ
âShe-â Billy looks away from Steve. He canât knowâŚ
âShe what?â Steve presses, voice going lower in a warning.Â
âNone of your business! Look, I just wanted to know if that makes any sense to you!â
âI mean⌠sheâs special⌠you knowâŚâ Steve says uncertainty clear in his voice.Â
âYeah, I know she isâŚâ Billy says remembering the day you casually told him you were going to help him.
âSo what do we do?â Steve asks.
âShe said to trust herâŚâ Billy says trailing off in thought.Â
âIf she contacts you again see if she knows where she is. Weâre going to get her back,â Steve says with finality. âTruce?â he asks holding his hand out to Billy.Â
Billy regards it for a moment before he nods, âTruce.â
The two young men clasp hands in a firm handshake, both trying to have a tighter grip as they shake on it.Â
âWhat are you trying to do? Break my hand?!â Steve yells.
âYouâre such a wuss Harrington!â Billy laughs as he pulls back.
âWuss?! You face a Demogorgon and tell me who the wuss is!â
âWhat the fuck is a Demogorgon?âÂ
âYou have a lot to learn Hargrove. A lot.â
***
You feel yourself growing stronger every day. And among the quiet in your mind, youâve noticed something else. You can tap into emotions and you spend the next few days wreaking havoc on the workers of the lab. You cause anger outbursts, crying spells, and lust to run rampant. Papers are thrown to the floor in a rage and balled up in fits of uncertainty. You plant lies in their minds with the simplest of sentences. If you didnât know any better you would say youâre having fun.Â
âIt seems weâve underestimated youâŚâ Carl Watt says from his position in front of you. He adjusts the button on his ugly suit jacket as he sits down before you.
You just regard him blankly as silence rings throughout the room.
âYou have caused quite a few problems for us. Are you having fun?â he asks patiently as if speaking to his six-year-old daughter who made a mess in the kitchen.Â
You gaze down at the steel table in front of you, eyes unseeing as you creep in his mind.Â
âIf you donât cooperate there will be consequences.â
Again you are silent at his threat.Â
âAfter all we wouldnât want anything to happen to your friends would we?â
You fight the reaction. The flinch. The twitch. The way your mind screams at the man before you in rage. You give him nothing as you continue to gaze down at the table, the silence stretching long and cold in the sterile room.Â
âYou think youâre fooling anyone? Teenage girls are so easy. You all have the same weakness. Emotions. Boys. Attention. You are not nearly as complex as you believe you are.â
You finally raise your head to look squarely in his eyes, your own void of any emotion as you regard him.Â
âYou think youâre fooling anyone?â You mimic, âMen are so easy. You all have the same weakness. Power. Lust. Control. You are not nearly as complex as you believe you are.â
Carl looks enraged as his fist flies onto the table. Instead of flinching as he wanted, you merely tilt your head to one side and regard him in boredom.Â
âAnd you said teenage girls are emotional. You should really have better control than that,â you say calmly.Â
âGet her out of here,â he says through clenched teeth.Â
Walking back to your cell you sense it suddenly. A tickle in your mind. You snap your head to the side and hear it plain as day.
They know.
They found it.
The door. The door. The door!
There is panic in the words and in the mind.Â
Heâs fourteen with dark hair and wild green eyes. You remember him vaguely from when you were here before.Â
Show!
You collapse as the boy enters your mind and you are thrown into a dream.Â
Billy is in a car accident. Heâs pulled into a void. The screams are too much.Â
You try to pull away from him. To break away from his hold on you.Â
Bait.
The creature that fills the sky is terrifying. Black and everywhere. It fills your mind and you know in your heart that this isnât over. That the Upside Down is beating at the door.Â
WaitâŚ
You gasp as you are thrown back into your head. The haunted green eyes of the boy down the hall filling your vision.Â
âGet up!â yells the guard.Â
You are kicked roughly in the side as you double over again. The other reaches down and grabs your hair dragging you up to your feet.Â
âNot so tough without your powers are you?â spits the guard.
You blink and reorient yourself before you wipe the blood from your nose. You can feel him at the edge of your conscience.Â
Bad men⌠badâŚ
âYesâŚâ you think to him, âBad menâŚâ
Out?
He pauses for a breath as you are thrown back into your cell.Â
Out out out???
âSoon.â
The thought seems to soothe him as his mind quiets and he drifts off to sleep. Vaguely, you wonder if he even knows how to talk. His mind is less fragmented than you originally thought though. You can use that to your advantage.Â
 ***
Billy opens his eyes to see you standing before him.
I need you to be ready.
âFor what?â he asks instantly alert and sitting up, âReady for what?â
The moment I expose themâŚ
âWhat do you need us to do?â
The old base is where Iâm being kept. Elle knows where. I will need a distraction in precisely three daysâ time. You need to listen very carefully to my instructions. In a glass bottle mix carbon disulfide, phosphorus, and sulfur with a metal lid. This solution is highly flammable if exposed to air.
âWhat do you want us to do with that?â
I want to burn this place to the ground.
Notes:
I know! Such a long time coming! Concentrating has been difficult even with inspiration for this story! The next chapter will probably be the final chapter for this story, but never fear! I'll begin work on "I'll Tell You No Lies" the sequel to this story set in S3 of Stranger Things! There may be a little short in between this story and that one because I have such affection for this weird triangle between MC, Billy, and Steve. Please drop a comment to tell me your thoughts!

Hey are you still working on head over heals? I love the story line but the last chapter was posted in April. No rush just want to know if youâre still continuing it
Hi, I do intend to continue it. Iâve been reworking some aspects of the story line. Once Iâve settled it where I want it to be Iâll begin updating it again.Â

Chapter 1: Of Falls and Fairy Circles
The market is bustling as you dance your way through the stalls full of art and jewelry. Saturday at the market is easily your favorite day of week especially after you just got paid. Suddenly, a stone on one of the nearby tables catches your eye. It seems to almost have a light shining from it taking your breath away. It is clear with a bright blue light that just seems to shine among all the moonstones and labradorites. You hesitantly pick it up from the stall knowing that it is way out of budget and yet the price tag says $60. You blink in confusion at the piece before your hand secures, almost greedily, around the pendant as you call the owner over.
âIâll take this one,â you say, pulling out your wallet.
âSure! What length chain would you like?â she asks briskly, busy with the plethora of customers surrounding you both.
You gaze at the pendant thoughtfully, the shard looking glamorously delicate and intricate, âthirty-six.â
She nods and quickly takes payment, but you stop her from wrapping it up, âIâll just wear it out, thanks.â She hands it over with a friendly enough smile before she is pulled away by another buyer.
You spend the rest of the afternoon meandering around the stalls of the market. Artisans are selling their crafts and you admire each of them happily. When you are finished you buy a meal from a local food truck and sit happily at one of the picnic tables scattered about the outside of the market. Once finished you throw back the last of your drink before you dispose of the trash and make your way back towards your apartment.
The evening air is brisk and warm with a breeze as the sunset paints the sky various colors of pinks and oranges. Itâs only when you feel the telltale drop of rain that you become slightly concerned. You quicken your pace, annoyed you hadnât driven to the market even though it wasnât far from your home. As the rain picks up you begin to rush down the street as the once peaceful evening is ravaged by black clouds and lightning. Your apartment is almost in sight as you rush across the bridge, the only thing between you and home.
With a jolt of lightning and a crack of thunder, the bolt catches a nearby streetlamp. You scream as you are thrown back and away. Suddenly water is all around you, a vortex of wind and rain. The only time you seem able to see is when the sky is illuminated by the ominous bolts of lightning.
You scream for help, disoriented, and confused about what is happening, how did you get into the water?
Now it is time to chooseâŚ
The light and airy voice startle you. You have no idea how you could hear it over the raging storm. Suddenly all is quiet, almost deafeningly so after the roar of the storm raging around you.
You must choose between lifeâŚ
And deathâŚ
âWhat does that mean?!â you yell into nothing, to no one.
Living means accepting your destiny⌠yourselfâŚ
âAnd what does dying mean?!â you ask in panic.
FailureâŚ
Now chooseâŚ
The voice echoing in your head is silent, leaving you with your thoughts. You are beyond confused about everything, but what are you supposed to do? You donât want to die!
âI want to choose life!â
Your choice has been made then? Just know you will never be able to return hereâŚ
âWhat do you mean?â
You have chosen destinyâŚ
You scream as you are abruptly thrown back into the storm and tossed about like a ragdoll in the washing machine. When just as abruptly as it all started⌠it stops.
Opening your eyes you gaze around you at the lush forest before looking down on the bed of flowers youâve landed in encircled by mushrooms. The earth is soft and damp beneath you, the moss and foliage having softened your fall. The sky's the deep blue of the evening, you notice the way that the colors of twilight are just beginning to paint the sky. Sitting up you vaguely wonder how you got here, but you can remember nothing. Panic takes over as you search the area around you for anything or anyone. You find nothing. The only thing that floats across your mind is a singular name: Cwen.
You sit up and feel your body scream as you do, with a groan you hold your aching head. Glancing down at your clothes you notice the dress you are wearing, itâs long and a deep black. Itâs now stained and ripped in multiple places. You stumble to your feet and after a moment you finally gain your footing as you brace yourself against a tree. You lean your pounding forehead against the rough bark and gasp as whispers tickle your ears. You pull away and look around, but hear nothing and see no one. You tense as your instincts begin to truly kick in. You have no idea who you are or where you are and youâre scared.
There is a crack from behind you causing you to whip around in enough time to see the ugliest creature youâve ever seen in your life. Itâs like a cross between a wolf and a hyena, with a scream you stumble back and away from it. The creature begins to stalk towards you, haunches raised in a low snarl, and with each step, you feel your fear grow. You are backed up against the tree and as you press against it you hear the whispers again. You canât understand them, but honestly, you have more important things to worry about.
As the creature leaps towards you you scream and hold your arms up, if not to shield yourself, to at least not watch it take a bite out of your face. It never comes though, in its stead is a low whine and groan.
Hesitantly, you lower your arms and open your eyes to see the creature suspended in midair impaled on a branch from the very tree you are leaning against. The branch had gone down the creatureâs throat, spearing it and killing it instantly. Youâre too terrified to scream as you turn away from the horrid sight and lose your dinner all onto the ground. When you have gained enough wits about you, you run.
You donât look where you are going as you make a mad dash through the forest, not that it would matter anyway. The only thing on your mind is sheer terror as you just run. Before you know it night has fallen and you can only slump against a fallen log as you try to catch your breath. Now too exhausted to do anything other than sit and think you regard the quickly darkening forest around you and another kind of fear sets in. You curl yourself up into a ball and ponder your options. You could either try to find a place to stay for the night or some civilization and pray that no one will try to murder you, or you could stay where you are and hope that nothing finds you and tries to murder you. Either way, you really hope you donât get murdered tonight.
With a resigned sigh, realizing that you are very far from where you once were and if anyone is looking for you it would have been best to stay there. However, you know you have a better chance of potentially being able to find light in the dark and hope that you could be led to a road or a city. Anything.
Your memories are slowly coming back, although nothing concrete yet. You remember concepts but you canât recall a single person, even though you know you know people. No family. No friends. You donât remember your home and you canât recall a singular memory of your life.
You have no idea how long youâve been walking when you see it in the distance, a fire! You quickly make your way through the forest and you stumble across a campsite. The fire is still roaring in the pit, there are what look to be crudely made sleeping bags and various other packs and supplies scattered about as if the owners will be back any moment now. The smell of food is coming from a pot over the fire and you approach it to see stew bubbling. You glance around and call out a few times wondering if anyone is around and if they would answer. When no one approaches or answers you feel a bit like Goldielocks as you take a wooden bowl and scoop some of the stew into it. You have no idea when you last ate, but after running through the forest for hours being scared out of your mind, food sounds delightful and surely no one would mind if you ate some. After all, there looks to be plentyâŚ
You plop yourself down on a log near the fire to keep the chill of the cool night air at bay. The dress you are wearing is not meant to keep you warm on such a cold night. Why are you wearing something so unsuitable for the weather anyway? You wonder this as you eat the stew the happiest that youâve been since this madness started.
Glancing into the darkness you can make out yells in the distance. Happy that there are people around, you get up off of the log before you take off into the bushes. You arenât thinking as you see the light of a campfire in the distance and you rush towards it. âPeople!â you think in relief. However, the minute you step into the clearing you realize youâve made a grave mistake.
âOh? Wat do we âave âere?â questions a giant thing that just so happens to be much uglier and smellier than the creature from before, all with gray skin and a large gut.
âLooks like a âuman woomanâŚâ says one with a high nasally voice.
âItâs been soo l-ong since weâve âad wooman! Soo much more fatty than man!â Delights a third.
Wait⌠did this⌠thing just call you fat?
âDid you just-?â you start in indignation when one of them takes a step forward with the intent of scooping you up. You jump out of the way and hear a roar of male voices. Glance at the spit and then at a pen in the corner you notice a bunch of men being held hostage by the things before you. Â
âWhy yoo lit-tle!â exclaims the one that missed.
âOi! Leave the lass alone!â Yells a gruff voice, he is joined by a chorus of gruff masculine voices.
âNo shame!!â
âPick on someone your own size!â
The deep gruff voices of the men around you at least prove to you that they are decent people. However, you donât have time to ponder too much about it as you jump and tumble about the camp, all while attempting to keep your dress down. Vaguely you hope none of the men saw your bike shorts. Ok so it really wouldnât matter, but it kills the illusion.
âGot ya now!â yells one as you are cornered back against the trunk of a tree. You throw your arms up and suddenly there is silence.
âOi! No fair!â yells the nasally one.
You slowly open your eyes and lower your arms only to see the things blinking at you through thick branches of the tree you're against. The branches now protecting you are woven together creating a barrier between you and your would-be captors.
âEnough of this!â yells the one who seems to be the ring leader as he stomps forward and pushes another out of the way. He takes hold of the branches and begins to attempt to pry them apart. You can hear the men in the background yelling again about them leaving you alone after a brief stunned silence. You feel your fear beginning to creep up on you again as the branches begin to give way to the strength of the beast before you. The popping and cracking of splintering wood assault your ears. Your breathing quickens and the only thing you can think of is how you wished they would just leave you alone!
âHey! Stop!â yells one of them.
âLet go!â yells another.
âOi watâs-â the thing is cut off as vines snake up its body and wrap itself around the creatures. You watch in confused horror as the things all struggle with the vines still wrapping itself dutifully around them. No matter how much they struggle they are no match for the creeping vines entangling then.
You see a flash of something in the distance before you hear the words, âBy the dawn!â and a deafening crack rings in the air. You watch as the morning sun hits the creatures and moments later they are stone wrapped in vines. You blink in confusion as the man makes his way into the clearing. He checks on the men first, cutting the ties on one of the bags they are in before he makes his way over to you.
âMy dear⌠are you alright?â You look up through the broken branches into the kind eyes of the man now kneeling in the brush before you. Perhaps it was the events you just witnessed or the stress of the night, or perhaps it was just that grandfatherly kindness that he regards you with, but at that moment you just shake your head and begin to sob.
âOh, come now childâŚâ he says kindly, as he carefully helps you from the branches and pulls you further into the clearing, âthere, there⌠youâll be alrightâŚâ
âIs she hurt?â asks a male voice from behind the old man before you.
âAye! Get the lass something decent to wear! She must be freezing!â
âIs she a witch?â questions another with fear in his voice.
Startled out of your emotional breakdown by the men now standing all around you you stumble back.
âHold steady, lass!â says one who reaches out and catches you just before you hit the ground. In that moment, you may as well be in an old Hollywood movie. You are suddenly gazing up into a pair of golden brown eyes as the sun paints a halo of warm light around his blonde hair. You blink up at him in confusion before he rights you and you, much to your surprise, gaze down at him. Wait⌠down?
You look about at the men surrounding you and you are taller than all of them, except for the old man who towers above you. Not that you are not exactly tall, to begin with, but this is unexpected.
Before you can say or do anything a heavy piece of fabric that smells distinctly like man and earth is draped around your shoulders. Another short man with a bright smile and deep blue eyes is on your other side helping to steady you, âYou alright there?â
âUmm⌠thank you⌠I donât knowâŚâ you say with uncertainty.
âAre you hurt then?â questions another in concern shoving the blue-eyed man away.
âThe lass is hurt!â shouts another with an odd-shaped hat.
âMake way! Make way!â yells yet another, and at this point, you are wondering how many there are.
A man with a trumpet to his ear is thrust through the crowd towards you. He grumbles to himself about the rough treatment before he straightens himself up and regards you professionally.
âYou hurt, lass?â He asks gruffly.
âUmm⌠maybe?â You answer in confusion.
âMaybe?â he asks in the same gruff tone as before.
âWell everything kind of hurts, but it's more of an ache from⌠everythingâŚâ you gesture unhelpfully around you just hoping he would get the idea.
âAye⌠Sounds like ye just need some rest is all. Right as rain soon!â He nods as if that solves all of lifeâs problems before he makes his way back through the group to complete whatever it was he was doing before he was shoved so unceremoniously through the crowd.
âYouâre not hurt then?â Asks the dark-haired blue-eyed man from before giving you what could only be described as puppy dog eyes.
âI donât think soâŚâ you murmur softly as you lean back against the claw-like branches that had acted as your shield.
âSo what exactly did you⌠uh⌠do back there?â Questions the man with the funny hat indicating the branches behind you.
âUmm well⌠I donât knowâŚâ
âAre ye a witch?â Questions one with hair that vaguely resembles a star.
âI donât think soâŚâ
âYou donât think so? Ye either are! Or youâre not!â He exclaims.
âAye, now lad! Just calm down!â Says the one with the weird hat.
While the two argue about whether you are or are not a witch, the golden-haired man from before approaches you quietly.
âAre you alright milady?â He asks with a kind smile.
You sigh softly, âI think soâŚâ youâre flustered from your lack of memory.
âWhat did you mean when you said you didnât think you were a witch? Are you unsure?â He asks kindly.
âI donât⌠remember anything⌠so I donât know what I am⌠I donât remember ever doing anything like that, and you would think I would if I did⌠right?â You say uncertainty and fear clouding your voice.
âIf I didnât know any betterâŚâ begins the old man, âI would say thatâs Fae magic.â His eyes twinkle as he catches yours. As if he is a grandfather with a secret stash of treats and heâs about to tell you where he hides the candy after dinner.
âImpossible!â Yells a deep voice from behind everyone. This one is majestic with graying hair and a beard shorter than many of the others. Heâs also taller than most of them, even if you still have about 2 to 3 inches on him.
âThe Fae havenât been seen in Middle Earth for ages, you know that better than anyone Gandalf!â He continues.
âYes, but that,â he says indicating the claw-like branches you are leaning against and the vines wrapping around the now stone things, âis distinctly Fae magic. And as the only one here who has seen Fae magic, I think I would know what it looks like!â
He ends on a very decisive note and his eyes are daring anyone to oppose him.
The majestic one narrows his eyes as he regards you, âyou canât remember anything? Nothing at all?â
âAbout myself? Not reallyâŚâ
âWhat about your name?â Questions the dark-haired one from before. He seems younger than most of the men surrounding you, perhaps itâs his lack of beard? Or perhaps itâs their very imposing beards that make them seem older than they are? Honestly, youâre just confused.
âUmm the only name I remember is Cwen, I donât even know if itâs mine.â
âYe donât know?â Asks the one with the odd hat.
âIt doesnât⌠feel right,â you explain and he seems to understand if the nod of his head is any indication. The flaps on this hat bounce up and down with the motion.
âWe should take her to Rivendell,â the old man now known as Gandalf says.
âWe arenât going anywhere near those damn elvesâŚâ growls the majestic one.
âElrond would know what to do, perhaps even help her with her⌠abilitiesâŚâ argues Gandalf.
âWhat or who is a âRivendell?ââ you ask the golden-haired one that is still lingering next to you quietly.
âItâs not a what or a who, itâs a where,â he says with a wink.
You give him a small smile in thanks before you hear a voice, âUmm excuse me⌠Miss?â
You look down to see an even smaller man! If thatâs even possible at this point...
âOh⌠um⌠yes?â
âBilbo Baggins, at your service! Would you like some water?â he asks, suddenly handing you a waterskin.
You smile down at him before plucking the waterskin from his hands, âYes, thank you!â
âMilady, we should probably get you into more suitable clothing,â says a new man with gray hair done in an intricate braid. He seems slightly more proper than some of the others and you just nod absentmindedly glancing down at your ruined and pretty much useless dress.
âAye!â grunts a balding one, who looks more so like he would kill you than talk to you, âWhy are you ye dressed so⌠impractical.â You can tell he wanted to say something else, the kindly man next to him elbowed him just as he was about to.
âHonestly⌠I wondered the same thingâŚâ you say as you regard the sandals you are wearing as you examine one foot then the other and the dress. âI donât think this was on the agenda for the day honestly.â
Meanwhile, you ignore the two men arguing about elves in the background before you realize there are elvesâŚ
âThere are elves here?â you question softly as you gaze at the men now making their way back towards the once-abandoned camp. You step over logs and hold your dress up enough to keep from getting it snagged on the underbrush of the forest. The golden haired one offering you a hand every once in a while to steady you. You grimace at the way your ankles and feet itch though.
âOf course there is, lass!â exclaims the one with the odd hat, âSurely youâve heard of Elves!.â
âAre they tiny?â you ask suddenly, slightly concerned that everyone in this land is just very short.
âTiny?â he questions before he bursts into laughter at the idea, âNot exactly, lass. They are about the same size as the race of men, perhaps a little taller on some occasions.â
âMen? You arenât âmenâ then?â you ask innocently.
âWhat?! You thought we were Men?!â Laughs the dark-haired one.
âWell if you arenât Men⌠what are you?â you ask in confusion.
âWhy Dwarves, of course!â exclaims a loud man with red hair, âThe best craftsmen and warriors of Middle Earth! Youâd have thought sheâs never seen a Dwarf before!â
âUmm⌠but I havenâtâŚâ you say hesitantly.
âHavenât what?â questions the odd hat one.
âSeen any Dwarves⌠or Elves for that matter⌠I donât think we have either where I come from...â you ponder out loud, trailing off slightly in thought.
The Dwarves are silent around you as they take in this new information.
âSheâs a witch I say!â exclaims the one with odd hair once again.
âOh hush Nori!â exclaims the one with the elaborate braid.
âYou really arenât from around here, are ye lass?â questions the one with the odd hat.
âNo⌠Iâm really not⌠and Iâm not quite sure how I got here eitherâŚâ you say with tears beginning to prick your eyes. You push them away because now is no time to cry.
âAye⌠Donât you worry lass! Weâll make sure you find your way to safety,â the one with the odd hat winks at you before he gets up to go talk to Gandalf.
âAye, you shouldnât worry,â says the Golden-haired man, um... Dwarf, âHeâs right, we wonât let any harm come to you alright?â
You give him a small smile and a nod, âThank you.â
âCome on. Bit of breakfast will do you some good,â he says as he helps you to your feet, âOh! Iâm Fili, by the way and that over there is my brother, Kili.â
âFili and Kili?â you ask softly so you can remember their names.
âAye, that over there is my uncle Thorin talking with Gandalf the Gray. Thatâs Bofur, Bombur, and Bifur,â he says, indicating the man you were talking to earlier as well as a Dwarf with dark hair and a very rotund Dwarf. âAnd Ori, Nori, and Dori,â he indicates the trio, one being the one who keeps insisting you are a witch and the other is busy gathering up clothing, probably for you and employing the help of another Dwarf that seems quite timid. âThatâs Balin and Dwalin, they are two of uncleâs closest friends and advisors. âThatâs Oin and Gloin,â he points to the doctor from earlier with the horn to his ear and the redhead from before. âAnd of course, Bilbo has already introduced himself.â
âOh dearâŚâ you say suddenly gazing about at everyone, âHow many of you are there?â
âOh, about 14, why?â questions Kili from your other side now. You have a feeling one brother is never too far from the other.
âThatâs⌠a lot of namesâŚâ you say as you regard all the Dwarfs before you in slight confusion and resignation.
âYouâll learn them soon enough,â Fili says, patting your arm in sympathy. Probably understanding that to an outsider there are probably a lot of them.
You simply hum your agreement, even if you donât necessarily believe it.
âMy dear,â Gandalf says suddenly, âPerhaps you could join us for a moment?â
You glance up from the fire and nod before making your way towards Gandalf and Thorn? No⌠Thatâs not rightâŚ
âThis is Thorin Oakenshield, and this is his company,â Gandalf says, indicating the Dwarf before you. Ah⌠Yes! ThorinâŚ
âNice to meet you,â you say politely as you regard both men, âAnd I am Gandalf the Gray. I was wondering if you could tell us what you are doing in the forest alone?â
âI donât remember⌠I just woke up there yesterday evening.â
âWoke up where, my dear?â
âIn the forest,â you say vaguely, gesturing the way you came.
âThere didnât happen to be⌠mushrooms⌠where you landed?â he asked hesitantly.
âUmm⌠actually yes⌠there were mushrooms. Why? Is that important?â you ask hungry for answers.
âIt is something, it is yet to be seen if it is important yet though,â he says cryptically.
âOkayâŚâ you say in confusion, âWell what now?â
âWhat do you mean?â He asks with a furrowed brow.
âIs there a town I can perhaps find help in close to here? I donât know what to do reallyâŚâ
âWe should go to Rivendell!â exclaims Gandalf, âElrond will know what is best.â
âAnd Iâve already said we are not going to Rivendell!â exclaims the Dwarf passionately.
You take a step back slightly startled by his outburst.
âWe will find a suitable place for the lady, but we are not wasting time by going out of our way to those blasted Elves!â he then proceeds to swear in another language. How do you know it was a swear? Swearing is a universal language even if one doesnât understand it.
âUncle!â exclaims the dark-haired Dwarf from before, something with a âlyâ at the end, âSuch language in front of a lady!â
Thorin just scowls and ignores the mischievous twinkle in his nephewâs eyes. You have a feeling heâs used to the young Dwarfâs antics.
âKili! You and your brother make sure the lady is comfortable. I believe that Dori was getting her more suitable clothing?â he asks before eyeing your dress skeptically. You stand a little straighter at his scrutiny suddenly feeling a little self-conscious.
âYes, Uncle.â
He sends you a wink before he motions for you to follow him. The man with the intricate braids is holding out some clothes for you, âI know it isnât much, but this should get you through until we can get more suitable clothing at the next town.â
âOh! Thank you!â You exclaim before looking around for a tent.
âCome on now!â he says marching towards the woods, âIâll make sure no one bothers you while you change.â Â
After you have changed you find yourself standing about while the Dwarfs tidy up their campsite and start on their way. You donât really know what to do so you just watch and try to stay out of their way.
âFeel better then?â you jump at the voice behind you and turn to see one of the brothers behind you.
âUmm⌠yes⌠I do,â you say with a quiet nod and a timid smile. He beams back at you before he hands you a cloak to drape around your shoulders.
âItâs been rainy lately, you may need this.â
âThank you,â you say, avoiding his eyes shyly as you stumble to fasten the cloak around your frame.
âHere, Milady,â he says, before he steps towards you and helps you to do the clasp.
You look down at the mismatched attire, a tunic that is far too broad in the shoulders and far too long, but also too short at the same time and a pair of pants that has far too much room in the leg and crotch area. The boots that were given to you are laced too tightly in order to stay on your feet and you wonder if the circulation will be cut off. You heave a sigh as Thorin yells that itâs time to move out. You fall in line with the others and instantly you can feel the boots rubbing your heels. This is going to be a long dayâŚ
Youâre quiet most of the day despite the attempts of several of the Dwarfs to get you to open up. This seemed to dampen the spirit of the one with the funny hat, named⌠Bofur? You tried to recall the ones who had spoken to you most. The younger ones also seemed concerned with your absent minded answers to their questions.
âYou must be in deep thought about something LassâŚâ you glance over at Bofur and regard him thoughtfully.
âJust trying to understand what happened is all⌠Iâve never done anything like that back there and Iâve never seen anything like those creatures⌠What even were they?â
âTrolls oâcourse!â
âSo you donât have Trolls where you come from either?â pipes up Kili from behind you, jogging to walk alongside you.
âNo, I donât think we had anything of the sort. At least not in real life.â
âWhat do you mean âreal life?ââ questions Fili glancing over his shoulder.
âWell they were in stories, but we didnât have them in real life.â
âIf ye had them in stories, how do you know they arenât real?â questions Bofur wiggling his eyebrows.
And for the first time all day you laughed, âI once knew someone who said the same thing about dragons.â
âSo there are dragons!?â questions Kili in horror.
âNo, we donât have those either,â you say matter of factly.
âBut how do you know?â Questions Bofur once again with that mysterious twinkle in his eyes.
âWell arenât they quite large? I think we would know by now! Do you have dragons here?â
âAye, weâre on our way to reclaim our home from one,â Says Kili in excitement.
âKili!â yells a voice from up ahead you recognize as the leader, âThat is quite enough! If all it takes is a pretty face to send your head from your shoulders, I will send you back to your mother this instance.â
âSorry uncleâŚâ he says quietly thoroughly chastised.
You frown at the harsh way he spoke to him, but you suppose this is a secret quest? Who knows? But you could tell that Thorin didnât seem to trust you along with a handful of the Dwarfs around you.
With the light hearted conversations effectively cut off you settle back into silence as you take in the scenery. Itâs quite beautiful with lush foliage and tall trees. Bushes seem to be flowering and vaguely you wonder if these are the flowers of spring or summer.
âWhy did your friend think there were dragons even if you donât?â whispers Kili from your side.
You glance at him and notice the way that Fili and Bofur glance over at you as well, clearly interested in the question.
âBecause they show up in legend and lore from all over the world, in cultures and times when they had no contact.â
âSo you do have other races!â exclaims Kili in excitement, clearly pleased with his way of gaining knowledge.
âYes, but not like hereâŚâ you say calmly, âWeâre all human, there arenât Elves or Dwarves.â
âSounds odd,â Says Kili decidedly.
âNo more odd than discovering Dwarves and Trolls when you previously thought there were none.â
âAye, that must have been a right shock there!â Bofur interrupts.
âYou have no idea⌠Although that wasnât my first run in with this worldâŚâ
âOh?â Questions Fili from his place in front of you, easily he falls back and takes the place by your side much to the displeasure of his brother, âWhat was?â
âSomething I had never seen before⌠It was this large wolf-like thingâŚâ
âWolf-like thing?!â he asks in alarm, âA warg?â
âI wouldnât know what a warg isâŚâ you say, baffled by the term, âBut perhaps?â
âHow did ye live?! I doubt you wouddaâ been able to outrun it!â Â exclaims Bofur from your other side.
âA witch!â exclaims a voice from ahead of you.
You frown and roll your eyes at the Dwarf a few paces up, âIt impaled itself on a branch.â
âReally? How?â questions Kili in wonder from the other side of Fili.
âI donât really know⌠I didnât see it happen⌠I was too scared to lookâŚâ you say hesitantly not wanting to relive the evening's events.
âThat sounds terrible,â Fili says patting your shoulder, âYou must have been terrified.â
Something about the soothing way that Fili speaks makes you feel better, âI wasâŚâ you say looking away from him.
You spend the remainder of the morning answering questions from the Dwarfs and eventually, many others begin to join in. This is mostly how the morning goes, with you satisfying the curiosity of the younger Dwarves and the Hobbit when he finally gets the courage to linger in the back of the company with you. It did effectively distract you from the pain of your now blistered feet and the fatigue that came with walking all day when you werenât used to it.
The sun is high in the sky, filtering through the leaves of the forest when a commotion in the brush alerts you to something coming your way⌠and quickly...

Fearless: Chapter 6
You deal in fearâŚ
So who else to help Klaus master his powers? Who is quite determined to set you up with his brotherâŚ
âI didnât ask for this.â
âNo one ever does darlingâŚâ
Diego x Reader
Masterlist
Chapter 6: Love, Gimme Love
The next morning you are woken up by Cleo bumping her head against yours. You open your eyes to see a pair of vibrant yellow eyes gazing down at you. She is laying on your chest and seems intent on you getting up.Â
âAlright...Iâm upâŚâ
Grabbing a long cardigan you put it on and wrap it around yourself to protect you against the morning chill. You cautiously step around a sleeping Diego who is sprawled out on the makeshift bed in your room. He insisted on putting himself between you and the door. The silence of the house is almost deafening as you make your way into the kitchen. Standing in your kitchen is the man from the night before.Â
âWho are you?â you ask calmly.Â
He jumps before he turns around, âUhh⌠wellâŚâ
You raise an eyebrow at the man before.Â
âA friend of Klaus?âÂ
âYou donât sound very sure of yourself,â you say as you cross your arms over your chest as you regard him harshly.Â
âLook⌠we uh⌠knew each other a while ago and I just wantedâŚâ he says awkwardly scratching his head.Â
âTo use him?âÂ
You ask bluntly.
âHuh? Who are you?â he asks defensively as if questioning his clearly questionable motives is simply unheard of.
âLook, Klaus is my friend and weâve worked hard on getting and keeping him sober. What happened last night?â Your question is like a bullet as you fire it at him.
âYou sure youâre just his friend? You sound like a jealous girlfriend,â he snaps back.
âWhat Klaus does with his time romantically is none of my business, I merely want to know why months of progress was thrown to the wind last night.â
âLook, heâs a grown man, itâs not my fault he doesnât take rejection well,â he snaps.Â
âGet out of my house,â you say monotonously.Â
âWhat?â
âYou heard her,â Deigoâs annoyed voice comes from the doorway.Â
The mystery man whips around to see Diego standing in the doorway.Â
âWho are you?!â he exclaims in shock.
âKlausâ brother, who are you?â
âUhhh⌠Listen manâŚâ
âNo, you listen man,â Diego as he takes a menacing step towards him, âleave Klaus alone. He was doing just fine until you came along and messed him up again. Weâre trying to help him. If you donât have his best intention in mind, you donât need to be near him, understand?â
The guy nods in fear as he regards Diego.Â
âWhy did he listen to you and not me?â you whine catching Diegoâs attention, âIs it the macho guy thing?â
Diego hides a smile as he regards you, âIt's because youâre so cute.â
You pout and cross your arms which only seems to make Diegoâs point.
Diego turns back to the mysterious man standing in your kitchen and glares at him, âWhat are you still doing here? She told you to leave!â
He jumps in surprise before he grabs his pants from the living room floor and scrambles to leave. The sound of your front door slamming closed behind him indicates that you and Diego fulfilled your mission to get rid of him.Â
âWhat do you think happened?â Diego asks.
âI think he rejected Klaus,â you say softly.
You regard your kitchen before making your way into the living room and frowning at the mess that the two men made last night. The scent of stale cigarettes lingers in the air mixed with the faintest scent of weed. The pungent scent of beer drifts up from your carpet and you notice where it looks like one or two was knocked to the ground. Youâre thankful that you didnât find any evidence of anything else. Relatively speaking this relapse seems to be minor even if itâs unwelcome.Â
Itâs a few hours of cleaning before Klaus wakes up and walks out of his bedroom. He looks ashamed as he makes his way into the now clean living space avoiding your eyes.Â
âIâm sorryâŚâ he croaks out, tears threatening to spill from his eyes.Â
You regard him with a frown as you turn your attention away from the book you're reading to the man standing in the doorway.Â
âI just donât get itâŚâ you say softly, âyou were doing so wellâŚâ
âI justâŚâ
Diego comes out of the kitchen two cups of coffee in his hands as he makes his way over to you. He hands you one before he settles himself back onto the couch beside you, his arm draping itself over the back of the couch lingering in the space behind you.
Klaus looks surprised to see Diego there, âDiego?â
âHe walked me home last night after the match. You opened the door and you were obviously drunk and there was a man passed out on my couch. Diego didnât feel right leaving me alone with him.â
Klaus winces as you tell him about the events of last night, âHe wasâŚâ
He stops and takes a shaky breath, âWe used toâŚâ he tries again.
âItâs okayâŚâ you murmur as you pat the place on the couch next to you. Klaus plops down in the space next to you and leans into you. His head comes to rest on your shoulder as he heaves a sigh and you notice tears threatening to fall once again.Â
âI thought he liked meâŚâ he says with a sigh, âNo one has really given me the time of day sober⌠except for Dave⌠maybe ever⌠Kyle and Iâve been talking lately. We used to run in the same circle a few years ago, but he really just wanted a hit of something, he didnât want me...â
Klaus leans forward and rests his elbows on his knees running his hands up and down his face.Â
âKlaus, heâs a jerk and you deserve someone so much better than him,â you say softly.Â
âI just wantâŚsomeone to love me...â
âHeyâŚâ you say softly, âI love you, maybe not in the way youâre talking about, but I do love you. And I want whatâs best for you. Iâm not going to tell you that you shouldnât try to find someone if youâre lonely, but maybe stay away from people from your past. If you need companionship we can look into hobbies for you okay?â
âYou arenât mad? You arenât kicking me out?â he asks looking at you in surprise, âYou still want to help me?â
âKlaus⌠youâre trying so hard. Iâm not going to say Iâm not disappointed, but you arenât perfect. Youâve spent years of your life being high on something to escape feeling anything real, itâs ridiculous of me to expect you not to slip up. Especially, when the only way you know how to cope with anything is with drugs and alcohol. Iâm just relieved that it wasnât something worse.â
Klaus just blinks at you before he wraps himself around you. You feel his tears wet the shoulder of your tee shirt as you hold him against you. You slowly rock him back and forth as you allow him to cry.Â
Pulling away Klaus wipes his eyes before he regards the two of you, âSo Diego walked you home huh?â
âOh for the love ofâŚâ Diego trails off his hand coming up to run up and down his face in exasperation.Â
You blush as you look away from Klaus and his dancing eyebrows.Â
âNothing happenedâŚâ you mutter as you grumble under your breath, âthe universe made sure of thatâŚâ
Klaus breaks out into a grin having heard your muttering, âSo you DO like Diego! I knew it! Diego! When you take her to bed make sure that you take very good care of my flower okay? Sheâs been very stressed lately! She deserves-â
âKlaus!â you yelp in embarrassment before you launch yourself at your friend, your hand going over his mouth to stop the words from leaving him.Â
âW-what?! W-why a-are you?â Diego stutters in embarrassment.
Klaus just cackles as he grabs your wrists to keep your hands from his mouth, âShe deserves-â
âKlaus if you finish that sentence I am not cooking for you for a month!â you threaten.Â
He looks up at you in wide-eyed horror, âA month!?â
âA month!â you exclaim, still fighting with him. He may be scrawny, but heâs a lean and strong scrawny.Â
He gasps dramatically before muttering a âfine,â under his breath. You regard him with narrowed eyes suspiciously for a few more moments before you are satisfied with his silence. The air now feels heavy as both you and Diego shift uncomfortably in your seat.Â
âSo did he teach you how to throw knives? Thatâs his oldest-â
âKlaus!â Diego roars as he launches himself at his brother, getting caught in the crossfire and ending up in a dog pile between the two brothers and yelping as someoneâs elbow is in your side.
âGuys!â you yell as Diego fights to get to the cackling Klaus.Â
âGet off!â you yelp pushing the two away from you, Klaus just clings to you as he yells for you to save him from Diego.Â
âI need a- somethingâŚâ you say your head in your hand after you have untangled yourself from the fight and the two brothers have calmed down. Ok so you banished them to separate sides of the couch but that is beside the point. Â
âYou should take a relaxing bath! That always helps me! Iâm sure that Diego would love to join-â
âKlaus!â you both yell in unison as he snickers to himself, obviously proud of his ability to make you both uncomfortable.Â
âWhat?! That is not going too far! They both need to get laid! It would-â
âKlaus!â you both yell again interrupting his one-sided conversation with Ben.Â
He just laughs and you shake your head attempting to ignore your best friend and your crush respectively.Â
âIâm going to make lunch,â you grumble as you get up.Â
âIâll help,â says Diego as he gets up off of the couch to follow you.
âDonât do anything I wouldnât do!â yells Klaus.
âThere isnât anything you wouldnât do,â snips Diego.
âExactly.â
You roll your eyes as you head into the kitchen with Diego hot on your heels. You head towards the refrigerator to see what you have to eat.Â
âYou knowâŚâ You glance over your shoulder at Diego as he stands in the middle of the kitchen. Heâs fidgeting and keeps crossing and uncrossing his arms and ruffling his hair.Â
âYeahâŚ?â you trail off waiting for him to continue.Â
âCan I take you out? O-on a-a-a r-real date?âÂ
You blink at him for a moment confused about his sudden nerves, âOf course you can.â
He smiles in relief before he nods, âGood.â
You giggle at him as you pull some pasta salad off of the shelf and put it on the counter.Â
âWhat would make you think I wouldnât want to go out with you after last night?â you ask with a sly smile.Â
âWell⌠I didnât know if you were⌠you know⌠just being niceâŚâ
âLetting you almost kiss me isnât me being nice Diego, itâs me wanting you to kiss me,â you murmur with your hands on your hips.Â
âOh? You want me to kiss you?â he asks with a cocky smirk as he takes a step towards you.Â
âI thought I made that abundantly clear last night?â you ask as you turn back towards him.Â
His hands find their way to your waist as he gently pulls you towards him. He leans his head down before he brushes his nose against yours. A soft smile blooms onto your face and he chuckles as you give him an Eskimo kiss. With a surge of confidence, Diego leans down and captures your lips in a chaste kiss.Â
âIf you two are going to go at it like rabbits⌠I would like to be informed so I can vacate the premises,â Klaus interrupts.
You and Diego jump away from one another like teenagers at high school prom and blush.Â
âKlaus!â Diego growls as he regards his brother.
âThey do make a cute coupleâŚâ Klaus says as he turns to the empty space next to him, where no doubt Ben was.Â
Diego sends Klaus a warning look as Klaus just sends you a wink with a smirk on his face.Â
âOh leave it, Diego⌠Heâs never going to let us live this downâŚâ you grumble as you push Klaus out of the kitchen, âYouâve been rooting for this, the least you can do is give us a moment!â
âOkay okay! So pushy now that you have a mans to make you happy!â he gasps dramatically, âDo you love him more than me now! Are you going to ignore me in favor of Diego?! What have I done?â
Klausâ eyes widened in dramatized horror showing he was just joking.Â
âLeave Klaus,â you grumble, âI keep getting interrupted and all I want is a kiss, okay? So go!â
âSo demanding! Kitty cat arenât you? Be good to her, Deigo!â
You and Diego both roll your eyes at Klaus as he saunters out of the kitchen. You huff in annoyance as you feel a pair of arms around your waist pulling you into a strong chest. Diego buries his face in your neck and you feel a few chaste kisses as his voice becomes a low grumble.Â
âForget him,â he says nuzzling you, âLetâs enjoy thisâŚâ Diego trails off as he presses languid kisses to your neck. You blink up at him as you repress a shiver and drape your hands on his entangling your fingers. He pauses for a second before he turns you in his grip and pulls your body towards him. You squeak in surprised excitement as your hands rest on his strong chest before you slide them up his chest to dangle around his neck. Diego bows his head and pulls you into a deep fiery kiss that leaves you weak in the knees. You stumble back against the counter as he presses into you, an almost desperate groan leaves his lips as he presses you back into the hard surface. You gasp as you feel his hands slide from your hips to your ass and squeeze your supple curves. He picks you up and sets you onto the counter settling himself in between your thighs and pressing into you. You can feel his bulge as he presses himself almost desperately into you. You let out a soft moan as you press back almost desperate for his touch.
âAnd another thing!â Klaus says coming back around the corner, mischief in his voice.Â
âGET OUT!â you both yell each grabbing the closest thing to you, which just happens to be a dish cloth and the sponge you use to wash the dishes and throw it at him.
âHey! Fine! Jeeze!â he exclaims with a cackle he walks away effectively dodging the projectilesÂ
You heave a sigh as you bury your face against his neck and he hugs you to him.Â
âThat was intenseâŚâ you say softly.Â
âToo intense?â he asks hesitantly.
âNo⌠Just intenseâŚâ you whisper pulling back to look into his eyes. Heâs trying to catch his breath too. Almost shly you bump your nose against his and capture his lips again.Â
âWeâre going to have to find a⌠distraction⌠for Klaus,â Diego breathes as he breaks the kiss. His voice still a little breathy from the earlier passion.
You just nod absently as you gently push him away suddenly feeling too hot, âYes⌠we definitely areâŚâÂ
With a sigh you turn back to the task at hand, or better yet your distraction from Diegoâs lips, and finish preparing lunch.Â
When you both exit the kitchen Klaus is sitting innocently on the couch as you hand him a sandwich with the side of pasta salad you made yesterday.Â
âFinished so soon? At this rate Iâll never be an unc-â Klaus begins only for Diego to smack the sandwich the of the way into his mouth causing Klaus to sputter indignantly.Â
âCareful Klaus⌠Or you might find yourself kicked out afterall,â you say with a smirk at your friend.Â
âYou wouldnât?!â he gasps scandalized.Â
âTry me⌠Interrupt again and see what happensâŚâ
Klaus snaps his mouth shut in a pout as he regards his sandwich before murmuring, âYou two are no funâŚâ Â
âOh, weâre plenty of fun⌠We just keep getting interruptedâŚ.â grumbles Diego.Â
âWhat happened last night?â Klaus asks innocently.
âSome assholesâŚâ you mutter in derision as you take a violent bite of your sandwich remembering the events of the night before.Â
âDid youâŚ?â
âYesâŚâ
âAre you okay?â Klaus asks in concern.Â
âIâm fine, Klaus,â you murmur with a smile, âThings just got a little dangerous last night is allâŚâ
âWell, I'm glad Diego was with you at least,â Klaus says decisively, âHeâs always good in those situations.â
Diego looks surprised as he regards his brother, âThanks, manâŚâ
âI mean (Y/N) is a force to reckon with so it wasnât like she needed help, but itâs always good to know someone is there,â Klaus continues, completely destroying the moment.Â
âThanks, manâŚâ Diego reiterates, this time with a scowl.Â
You chuckle as you watch the interaction as you settle back against your sofa, âSo who is up for a movie?âÂ
âIsnât your new one out?!â Klaus exclaims, âthe one you worked one a few months ago?!â
âIt is! Do you want to watch it?â You answer.
A book on the far wall falls to the ground indicating that Ben is there and he does.
âI do! I donât know if Iâve ever seen any of your work,â Diego says suddenly excited at the prospect of seeing a film youâve worked on.Â
âCool! Letâs put it on!â you say in excitement.Â
You quickly put the movie on and relax against Diego who had instantly pulled you against him. Klaus being Klaus laid down so his head is resting in your lap and the sudden chill in the corner of the couch, and the way that Klaus kicks at the otherwise empty spot indicates Ben is resting there. Â
You feel a sense of contentment as you spend a lazy day with the people you have come to care for more than anyone.

Are you gonna continue head over heels?
I am! I really just need to find the correct headspace for it. The Upside Down series is defiantly a labor of love and Iâve recently started the second chapter for Head Over Heels. Maybe a Beta would help? Anyone be interested in being a Beta for this story? Send me a message weâll talk!
