This likely isn't a popular opinion, but frankly, I think a lot of people saw this coming. For me it started with Blake's adventure in Menagerie and came full circle with Adam's change from (what fans expected) Homicidal Revolutionary to... sociopath stalker ex-boyfriend??? What could have been the next Magneto, was instead the next Tighten.
I mean, adding a complex layer of narrative like racism to your world, then having it be scarcely seen in the show. Having the mascots of it, Adam and Atlas, dealt with so unceremoniously, without confronting their ideologies that would have put weight behind their actions was... really stupid. Stupid enough to lose RWBY a lot of fans that had high hopes for it.
I think the fault of this lies with the bad direction the writers took the show. It didn't have to be "political" or "progressive", just awkward high-school students with cool weapons and awesome super powers beating up giant monsters, that was enough, but now it's all crumbling. It's such a shame.
Well we had a good run.
