The power NaLu would have if Natsu wasn't written as an idiot AND a perv 100% of the time and if Lucy wasn't forcibly undressed 100% of the time

As much as I, a casual listener, want to dive head first into this album and decode its manic-fueled metaphors and romantic literary references I simply cannot due to my own mild depression phase lest I want to think myself into despair so cheers to you swifties I shall await your dissertations

I fucking hate Fairy Tail (my prepubescent years were spent obsessing over Fairy Tail and I was so emotionally traumatized by the shitty ending to the point where I completely left it behind forgot about it's existence and ignored the sequel series only for my young adult self to come back to it because my mild depression needs that dose of sweet childhood nostalgia)

Back to my nalu brainrot years later so here are my headcanons on how nalu should develop if Mashima actually writes them properly:
Lucy sees Natsu as her best friend but does think there could be potential for more. She just actively pushes the idea away because it doesn't seem possible. She doesn't want to wait around for him and waste time, so she's long accepted how they currently are. It's not so bad anyway, cus their friendship is just as valuable to her. She doesn't need anything different as of now.
Natsu doesn't really think much about romance, relationships, etc. But he's not an idiot (canon you have no power here). All he knows is that Lucy is different than his other friends. Aside from Happy, he likes being around her the most. He doesn't really think about kids, but finds himself daydreaming about having one with Lucy, which he does not do with the other FT girls. He's scared to lose all his friends, but the thought of losing Lucy sticks around the most. She's different to him, he knows that, but struggles to figure it out because it's all new to him
Idgaf what the manga says. Natsu still likes pranking Lucy but has grown considerate of her. Lucy, however, learned from him and pranks him back. It has become a game now of who can tease the other better. Lucy likes playing around with her best friend, while Natsu just loves seeing her smile.
Happy has seen a change in Natsu in his treatment and feelings towards Lucy but doesn't know how to bring it up. He also sees Lucy's lingering looks of longing that she adeptly cuts short whenever someone notices. He'd rather they figure it out for themselves.
Their development would be gradual (but not nonexistent as it is in the damn manga). No dramatic confessions, just a bit of pushing from Lucy and a bit of opening up from Natsu. Lucy finds herself wanting to be closer bit by bit despite her earlier reservations, as Natsu's slowly figuring out how he feels for Lucy. Fortunately, Natsu doesn't need to say much for Lucy to understand what he means.
Their dynamic stays the same, just more mature and emotionally intimate. It comes to a point where they don't really need to verbalize it to know they're both it for each other, their first and last, forever.
At this point, the pda really begins. How Natsu teases Lucy now is outright flirting and dirty jokes, which flusters Lucy every time, especially when they're with the team. Lucy soon discovered that the best way to get back at him was through physical flirting — running her hands across his chest and stomach, playing with his hair, touching his neck. It drives him absolutely crazy and she loves it.
Natsu's protectiveness now bleeds beyond their fights against enemies and into simple social encounters with other people who so much as look at Lucy weirdly. This annoys her, but inside, she finds it sweet and attractive. On the other hand, Lucy tries to act nonchalant whenever she's jealous in order to save face, but the team can clearly see through her facade. Natsu, unfortunately, constantly misses all the hints, so Lucy ends up conceding anyway.
If they were attached at the hip before, they're absolutely glued to each other now. Natsu outright refuses to go anywhere without Lucy, and only she can convince him otherwise. The two now always share a bed/sleeping mat. Whenever they walk around, their hands are always intertwined. The most shocking of all, Natsu shares his food with Lucy; lets her take a bite from his plate all the time.
He tried to get into reading for her but quickly got bored of it, so she thought of reading to him instead. This seems to be much more effective, to the point the two often discuss their thoughts on what they're currently reading. This almost always turns into heated debates, with Lucy repeatedly trying to explain her point with solid evidence from the text, and Natsu just not getting it.
In that same vein, Lucy offers to spar against him. What Lucy lacks in physical strength, she makes up for with tact and sheer magical prowess, so they're often evenly matched, with Natsu winning the most by just a small margin mainly due to his stamina. Regardless, what matters most to him is how much fun he has with her. Also, their sparring helps him with his impulsiveness and temper since he has a safe outlet for his pent-up energy now.
It took a while for their teammates to adjust to their evolved dynamic. They're mostly shocked that Natsu had the brains to even make a move, but they can see how the two have matured with each other. Hence, they're truly happy for them.
Years down the line, Lucy moves into his house, which he spent months renovating to accommodate her. The first few months are pure chaos as they adjust to sharing the same space, with Natsu increasing his pranks and Lucy trying to avoid every single one, and Lucy constantly wanting to rearrange furniture and Natsu grumbling as he mostly does the heavy lifting, but both cannot express enough how happy they are to share a home.
The thought of proposing just suddenly comes to Natsu one day. After pondering on it for a few days, he asks her out of the blue as they're idling in the house. Lucy is shocked, stares at him, then laughs out loud when she realizes he's 100% serious. He gets flustered and self-conscious as she's doubling over, but before he can ask what is so funny, she kisses him and says yes. He grins and hugs her tightly as they laugh and kiss.
They have a simple ceremony near the guild, but things quickly turn chaotic as their friends from all over visit to witness the ceremony. Their honeymoon is spent traveling and adventuring. They pull a Sasuke and Sakura by coming home with baby Nasha OR with Lucy heavily pregnant because she wants to give birth in the guild. Either pushes the entire guild into absolute chaos, but the two wouldn't have it any other way.
Will add more soon! Feel free to comment and add your own

🇮🇷 In less than 24 hours since the Iranian retaliation against Israel, Western leaders and much of mainstream media has already twisted the narrative to frame this as an unprecedented attack.
We now have two jobs:
☝️ To push back and make sure people know this was a retaliation — otherwise Israel can portray itself as a victim to garner sympathy
✌️ Not get distracted away from Gaza. Gaza is the priority

As a long time nalu fan, I can't help but compare how Mashima wrote Rave Master how he's writing Fairy Tail, especially the relationship between the two leads of each manga.
The finale of Rave Master was so climatic! Heartrenching! Haru and Elie were separated for a year! She forgot who he was but everything fell into place once they saw each other again. Then they got married!
Then...I look at Natsu and Lucy.
Those two have one of the best male-female relationships in anime, but we can't deny we've sort of reached a plateau with them. Every new development never seems to go anywhere. I just can't help but feel frustrated cus looking at Rave Master, Mashima knows how to write romance! I guess he wants something different with them, but if that's the case, WHY does he keep teasing them but NEVER lets them develop into their potential? My guy, we've been suffering for yearssssssss.
Tartaros Arc had it. FT reached its emotional and narrative peak in that arc. No other arc compares. Then everything went downhill but that's a whole different conversation.
Edit: I can't believe I forgot to mention the other freaking FT ships! They're canon! They got development! Gray learned to be more open with his feelings for Juvia! Jellal finally learned to let go of his guilt and live for Erza! GAJEEL AND LEVY ARE PARENTS. WHY IS NATSU STILL AN IDIOT AND LUCY GETTING ABSOLUTELY NOTHING AND CONSTANTLY MADE INTO A JOKE (EDOLAS DOESN'T FREAKING COUNT).

OK now I'm SEATED
Is Dead Boy Detectives any good? I know a lot of vision can get lost dealing with big corporations
It's SO good. Steve Yockey, Beth Schwartz and their team have done an astonishingly good job. I got to write occasional scenes which felt like a privilege, but mostly what I love is that you haven't seen anything quite like this before. It's funny, exciting, scary when it needs to be, and it will become Tumblr's favourite show for several months when it turns up.

Has there been another male lead who's suffered as many human rights abuses as Hyunwoo?! They accuse him of adultery, embezzlement, search his room, hack his phone, have him tailed for 3 years, and Haein has known all along and done nothing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Most people find the scene hilarious but it's in fact sickening to a core. He shouldn't be running laps but running for the hills. Even after 3 years of absolute loyalty and his continuously proving he is worthy of them, Hyunwoo's in-laws have almost zero trust in him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I ship Haein with Hyunwoo like there is no tomorrow, and yes, she's always loved him, is in pain and dying, and they both have made mistakes in their marriage, but this goes beyond that, her family has been committing actual crimes against him, and she's been silently tolerating it. Forget about divorce suits, he could have them criminally prosecuted if he wanted. Because all that abuse from her and her family won't go magically away, and if, by some miracle, she survives this terrible ordeal and they should get another chance at love together, this needs to be addressed, communicated and resolved between them if they are to have a functional marriage in the future.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You know this family is fucked up when Soocheol is the brightest bulb in the room. Kudos to the writer for addressing and not trying to gloss over Hyunwoo's mistreatment at the hands of the Hong family, including Haein silently tolerating it. Episode 7 has brought those issues back like a boomerang.

As painful as the direction their recent development in their relationship went to, I feel like it was necessary.
Hae-in had a perception of her husband as someone, well, perfect—obedient, caring, loving—24/7. She needed to be hit with the reality that as much as he seemed to love her, the struggles of their marriage pushed him to a position where he could only be selfish. I'd be disappointed if the drama never lets Hae-in undergo any growth, and only Hyun-woo feels guilty. As we've seen so far, Hyun-woo's callous feelings towards her imminent death were just an extreme manifestation of his resentment towards Hae-in and her family. His want for all her wealth seemed more like a need for repayment for all his pain, and his callousness was just him not allowing himself to feel sad because his own pain seemed greater at that time. Once they started opening up to each other, all that faded. All he ever truly wanted was to be by her side.
Hopefully, it makes her reevaluate her own treatment of him. He is not a dog that will blindly adore her no matter what she does. He is a person who simply loves her but has reached his limit in what he can do for her, someone who is 100% capable of being heartless.
Side note, but the recent episodes also have shown that the biggest problem in their marriage has always been Hae-in's family. They literally only started loving each other again when they were in an entirely different country, far away from the Hongs and the business. Hopefully, the two will come to realize that they have to stand together against them instead of dealing with them by themselves like before.

I'm so so so so tired of pretending I'm a well-adjusted, stable, normal person.
That overwhelming desire to show everyone how not ok you actually are, but you know full well they wouldn't know what to do with that better than you do. The awareness that, for your own safety, you have to keep pretending you don't want to bash your head against a wall, scream your lungs out, cry in public.
I'm tired.

God...it's me again...
i think a nalu element that doesn't get talked about enough is the fact that pre-series, natsu doesn't really hang out with a lot of people. yes, he loves his friends and family but there are few people he actively likes to or wants to spend time with before lucy. it's just him and happy for the most part but then he meets lucy he's like "yeah, she's cool, we're going to be best friends from now on" and then for the most part they're basically inseparable after that
he wants to team up with her because she's nice, and she is, but there's a lot of people in the guild who are nice. in my silly little brain palace i just think that natsu just vibes with her so much from the very beginning that he just feels so compelled to be with her that after years of going solo he suddenly wants to form a team with this girl that he's know for like what, a week? yeah she's not the strongest and at that point she's a little whiny and hasn't grown into the smart mage she is now, but i think that even though natsu sees the potential in her, he doesn't really care about that in that moment. he just sees her and nice and funny and caring and he thinks that she's cool so he wants to be around her more
i also like to think about the idea that lucy just thinks natsu has always been eager to be around people and has no idea that she's the only one that has this effect on him
