This Night Has Opened My Eyes.
Simon sighed, his brows scrunched together as he fiddled with his hands. His jaw clenched and unclenched as a headache,
or migraine for that matter crackled and split through his head, drawing out a sharp inhale. Simon sat trembling slightly as he massaged his temple and scalp, his eyes squinted shut while he tried to ease his pain.
Simon gently rocked himself, his foot tapping against the hardwood floors of his flat, his hands twitching and jerking as he played with the dry and dying ends of his hair.
the coarse, light, and brittle texture grounding him as he rocked and swayed, thinking up what to do.
Simon knew, and he knew it well that he should've thought about and talked himself through his emotions and what happened days prior, instead, he turned to the bottle and this was his karma. he knew better, he well and truly did.
He never wanted to do this again, he would not be anything like his father.

so uhm, hi! It’s been like 8 months or something since I last posted and I’d like to apologize for going on an unprompted hiatus, it was not intentional and as always, I got swept up in the stresses of life. I will try to post, just probably not frequently as that is what seems to cause me to run out of energy to write and draw, I’ll be editing my profile and rules page if you’re still interested in my writing :).

PROMPT
It had been a long and rough month for you two. (character) had finally come home from a month-long mission. You had decided to make a simple dinner for the two of you. it wasn't anything crazy and you weren't the best cook, though, you knew your way around the kitchen.
SIMON "GHOST" RILEY
As you busy yourself in the kitchen, cooking a simple meal of spaghetti and meatballs; you hear a familiar bell jingle at the door, the sound of the door opening and closing, and light but audible footsteps sound throughout the entrance of your and Simon's shared home.
You cracked a small smile as you heard this, though he didn't realize it. He always tried to spook you whenever he came home from long missions and this was no different. As Simon tried (and failed) to quietly sneak up on you in the kitchen he hugged you from behind and nuzzled his face into your neck, you let out a short chuckle as his lips tickled against your skin; peppering your neck with soft kisses.
"Did I get you this time?" Simon questioned, shifting his hold and resting his hands on your waist. You let out a short hum and shook your head at his antics. "Not this time, Simon." Simon let out a short huff, his breath tickling your neck as he let go, he glanced over at the stovetop and watched you cook for a moment. "what're you cooking? Looks like you got better at it." Simon teased, While yeah, you used to suck at cooking you didn't want to admit that. "Oh shush! You should be happy to be home." You rolled your eyes and stirred around the pot of tomato sauce, a small smile etched on your face.
You tapped your foot and picked up one of the spaghetti noodles with a fork and threw it to the wall, it stuck. the noodles were finished cooking, you turned the burner off and gently pulled away from Simon's hold. "Go sit at the table, okay? Dinner'll be done soon." Simon nodded and took a step back. "Alright, demanding husband of mine." Simon let out a short chuckle before retreating into the dining room, he pulled out a chair for himself and sat down. He rested his chin on his hand and watched you move around in the kitchen as you cooked.
"Thank you." You hummed as picked up the strainer from the counter and sat it into the empty sink, you walked back over to the pot of noodles and pulled on your oven mitts before picking the pot up and walking it over to the sink, you positioned the pot over the strainer and poured out the water and noodles into it.
You took the mitts off and set them aside. You took the now freshly strained noodles and poured them into the pot of tomato sauce and meatballs, you stirred the pot of spaghetti for a moment before tapping the spoon on the side of the pot and setting it down. You walked over to a cabinet and pulled out two bowls, walking them over to the pot of spaghetti and portioning it out for you and Simon.
You sat one of the bowls down in front of Simon and handed him a fork before taking your seat with a contented sigh. "Don't eat just yet, it's still hot." You said with a small smile as Simon set his fork down with a nod. "If that's what you say, my dear." You huffed, trying to stifle a laugh. "My dear? Since when did you call me that? That's a new one." Simon rolled his eyes, pretending to be offended. "what, do you want me to go back to calling you "Twat" Or "Jerk off"? Because I can." You gasped in a mock offense and placed your hand on your chest. "You wound me.."
Simon chuckled and picked his fork up again, poking around in his food to pick up some noodles and a meatball, he brought it to his mouth and munched on it, after he had finished his mouthful he gave a slight grin.
"Looks like you won't have to take me to the hospital because of your cooking this go round." You gasped in embarrassment as Simon brought up that one time you gave him food poisoning. you looked away as you munched on your food. "shush, shush."
As the night dragged on and the two of you ate you're, somewhat well-cooked spaghetti, the playful banter and chatter continued between you two. Some moments are less playful and more loving than others.
JOHN "SOAP" MACTAVISH
you were humming while preparing a meal of mashed potatoes, broccoli, and steak in the kitchen. While keeping an eye on the food, you walked around the kitchen and tapped my foot. You checked the mashed potatoes to make sure they cooked evenly, even though you weren't stirring them.
You heard the doorknob jiggle as keys were stuck into the lock, you looked over your shoulder just as Soap walked into your shared home. He set his keys down and tugged off his boots. Soap never liked wearing shoes in the house.
Soap smiled as he had noticed you in the kitchen, cooking. Soap walked over to the kitchen island and leaned on it, watching you as you cooked dinner. "What're you doing up so late? I mean, I can see that you're cooking but still." Soap half grumbled as he watched.
You let out a sigh as you glanced at him once more. "Relax, I'm cooking us dinner. I've missed you and you've been away on a long mission, you big lug." With a fork, you prodded at the steak and turned it over, ensuring it was cooked evenly.
While you cooked, Soap gazed at you fondly as you prepared the meal. Usually, it was Soap who cooked, but you were the one who was cooking every time he came home from a mission; no matter how short or long it was, you always cooked for him during those days. "You know, I just love it when you cook. It makes me feel special."
You let out a short laugh as you sat the fork down and turned the burner down to low to let the meat simmer, the corner of your lips twitching upward into a grin. "Because you are special, you're my husband and I'm yours." Soap let out a contented sigh and leaned his head on his shoulder. "I know, I know.. I just love you."
You hummed and glanced over at him through the corner of your eye, the smile still etched on your face. "And I love you too." You tapped your fingers on the countertop as you looked down at the meal you had just cooked. "Alright dear, go sit down, foods is almost done." Soap nodded and walked over to the dinner table. He kicked his legs under the table as if he were sitting on a wall. He hummed and glanced over to the kitchen, Soap observed as you carefully arranged the food on the plate and carried it to the table.
You hummed as you sat down at the table after setting it up. You reached over and took Soap's hand with a small smile. "So, how're you? The mission didn't treat you too bad, did it?" Soap snorted and lovingly rubbed the back of your hand with his thumb before shaking his head. "No, just a few scrapes and bruises."
You nodded in relief and motioned towards his plate. "Go on, eat. I want to know if you like it." Soap cracked a smile at you and made a huff. "I always like it when you cook. What'd be different about now?" Soap shrugged his shoulders began cutting his steak and started eating.
"Great as always," Soap said, his mouth half stuffed. You rolled your eyes and began eating some of your meal. "Soap, don't talk with your mouth full. That's a choking hazard and looks gross." Soap let out a short snicker and swallowed his food. "Oh come on, I do it all the time and haven't choked." You quirked a brow and gave him a half glare. "Yet." Soap laughed and continued to eat. "You should make potatoes more often, these are great."
"Once we finish dinner, it would be best if you take a shower , you reek." Soap pretended to be offended and said, "You ruined a nice moment." Soap agreed with a grumble, "Yes, I do bad smell." You chuckled and gazed lovingly at Soap during the meal, enjoying the comfortable silence between two of them.
