Oh boy am i thinking about sand.
Thinking about the foundations of it in Third Life, how they’re overflowing with how much sand they have, too much, so much they have trouble protecting it at times but god damn are they willing to. It’s an entire desert’s worth of sand.
Thinking about how Grian specifically made sure Last Life had little sand, no desert in sight, even though it was valuable to everyone. How they stuck to hills and forest instead, only used sand as a resource, as a means to an end in TNT.
Thinking about the reclaiming of sand in Double Life, their first real monopoly, their second chance at it. They have just the right amount and this time, it’s useful too. Useful for things other than TNT. For sugar cane and for building blocks. In his last moments, it’s Grian’s block of choice.
Truly, the two of them have never left that desert.

I’ve finally gotten to watching Grian’s pov in Last Life and ohh ohh why have you guys been selling Desert Duo short in this?? “It doesn’t have the same amount of content as it does in Third Life and Double Life“ and “oh they’re avoiding each other” were you not LOOKING? this is a PERFECT continuation of Third Life!!
First off, Grian right off the bat making it clear he owes Scar nothing, he takes Scar’s first life and this time he doesn’t give Scar anything. He’s specifically dodging ending up in any kind of alliance with him again (he literally made sure the world didn’t have a desert, mans was sick of it), yet he keeps going back to Scar. He does not go a single session without seeking him out. Gonna swindle a life? He first thinks of Scar. Need to ransom someone? Scar! When Grian hits red the first time, he doesn’t even mention Bdubs (The first person on his list since episode one) ONLY Scar. And it goes both ways, i mean tell me Scar didn’t deliberately not kill Grian when he had the Boogymen curse in episode 2. He’s so used to Grian on his side even when they’re not technically on the same team. So no, Grian is not trying to avoid Scar, Grian is trying to avoid being in Scar’s debt again. And you know what? He fails at that.
The turn tables. THE TURNED TABLES, GUYS. Grian is having to rely on Scar so much in this season. The life he took from Scar, for “safe keeping”, he immediately lost it, he got to red before Scar even lost one life (TURNED TABLES), he had to sign himself into being in Scar’s debt again in exchange for another life which he looses while Scar is gone. In episode 8, Joel and Grian are standing in front of Scar, all three of them reds, but they’re only standing there because of Scar. In the same episode, Grian has to keep taking and taking from Scar; his diamonds for a chest plate, his sand for TNT, his enchanter for enchantments. Unlike last season, where it ended with a “i owe you my first life, i owe you my third life” relationship between the two, this season was Grian trying to avoid being in his debt at all, avoid owing him anything, but instead he digs himself deeper into the same hole and pretends he didn’t. He relies on Scar as much as or arguably more than Scar did in the last season. And he has nothing to give back, never lets himself fall back into being on the same team. “Scar, don’t start a fight you can’t win”. Even when he only still has his Last Life because of Scar, he’s refusing any real loyalty to him. He even outlives him again.
The entire series, Grian has not been able or willing to give anything back to Scar. Not in resources, in lives, or even in friendship and loyalty.
Grian and Scar have been destined to be connected the second that creeper blew up at the start of Third Life.

Everyone SHUT UP i need a second to talk about the absolute perfect travesty of awarding the Life series winners (Grian, Peal, and Scott) the titles of the three tarot cards the Sun, the Moon, and the Star.
FIRST OFF?? The sun the moon the star is the WRONG order of how they show up in the major arcane!! The star is the 17th, moon the 18th, and sun the 19th!! It’s not exactly backwards but it IS out of order with The Sun being the first and The Moon as the most recent winner.
Now individually; Grian as the sun. The Sun is symbolic of life in full bloom, happiness and opportunity, it means success, it means the universe agrees with the path you’re on and the way ahead is clear. Grian, who accidentally indebted himself to scar, who fought against his soul bound the second he saw the other end. Who keeps killing the people closest to him. (He was only ever meant to watch)
Scott as The Star, it fits his aesthetic but BRO. The Star is healing, it’s renewal of old feelings, it’s a readiness to give and receive love. Scott, who divorced pearl right off the bat and picked a new soulmate who died in the end at the hand of pearl, who has continuously has partners who die before him every single time. (Oh look a poppy, what an ugly flower)
And Pearl, lovely Pearl, as the moon. The Moon, vague and unclear, things are not as they seem; deception. Usually caused by misunderstanding. Pearl, who was broken up with like 5 times and descended into her villain arc plain as day, who never really lied. Who still won at the end with forgiveness. (You came here and you caused death whether you tried to or not)

my brain is spinning with lore and opinions but the best part of the episode was
“Hunter: WAIT- i’ll be home soon flapjack stay safe *whispered* i love you, over and out”
Eda and King: “AWWW”

Just made a post ragging on toh so im gonna come right back and say that the reveal that Hunter is (SPOILERS FOR HOLLOW MIND, SPOILERS BIG ONE SCROLL AWAY) a clone was the best fucking plot reveal this show has put out. The bellos one was obvious and the lead up not the best, the Lillith being the one to curse Eda was great but the fallout and the motives really hit it down a few pegs, and Luz’s letters home whole situation was more of a shrug of the shoulders like “okay sure, i’ll take it“ but THIS. THIS one. The foreshadowing, the way it comes out, the horror when the collector says the word “make“ and you start to put it together. the realization. Hunter’s reaction when he’s out even though it’s mostly geared towards Bellos knowing he was in there. Hunter was a clone and there’s been more before him and he was always set up to be a disappointment who rebelled against Bellos. Unlike Lillith’s reveal this one builds on the sheer greatness of the writing of Bellos at the moment. Holy fuck.

i am LOVING the plot developments with The Owl House but i have such a big gripe about pacing and episode placments/missing episodes.
Firstly, my biggest problem that i think of every single episode; The lack of a “Tale of Two Stans” episode for Lillith and Eda. They talk so much about their relationship collapse and the build up but we never SEE that. I love “Thems The Breaks, Kid“ but it just shows they CAN show us the past but won’t show it. It would have done wonders if it happened it replaced one of the filler episodes back in season 1.
Second; Elsewhere and Elsewhen. The framing, the set up, all of it was perfect for a plot twist. I’d rather a plot twist be obvious then completely impossible to surprise the audience so i won’t talk about the obvious reveal but i will talk about how i wish this episode was earlier and i bit more serious. Even from the start. Luz CAUSED this, that’s the direction the show took, she made FATE by doing it and i wish it meant a little more with foreshadowing. I hope this at least continues on.
The whole Raine thing is confusing. I’m sorry but it is. I think they want it to be mysterious but really i’m just confused and they’re dragging it out while also showing Raine a LOT.
I know the show has been under threat of cancellation (maybe was? i don’t know im just watching episodes when they come out if they do at this point) but alot of threads feel unconnected or like they came out too late or too early.

i know little to nothing about amphibia but i know Anne was gone for awhile then came back and all i can say is i think it’s hilarious to imagine that she gets sucked into the frog world box thing and when she comes out it’s AFTER covid already started so she’s like “what the hell i wasn’t even gone half a year why is everyone wearing masks“ then the whole next season takes place with them wearing masks and the frogs have to wear masks too

Okay so im at like. the end of season 4 but not yet finished it and i just have one god damn burning question that i think of all of the damn time when im listening; do they still have to go through the bullshit statements?? Did Jon, fresh after coming back from Antarctica, still have to read a barely legible statement from some college dude talking about how his friend is 100% supernatural because he drank like 14 beers at a party?? Like he can tell when they’re real and everything but is it still like they’re JOB to go confirm this?? That’s absolutely fucking hilarious if it’s true because Jon is probably loosing his shit about it but it’s also funny if they AREN’T doing it at all
