We didn't want to pack all of our camping gear for one night in Costa Rica so we found the next best option. This was the perfect place to stay for an off the beaten path adventure! The experience was the perfect blend of Costa Rican culture immersion and a rainforest experience. We were able to have a traditional Costa Rican dinner dish of chicken cooked in passion fruit sauce served with plantains, rice and beans. I  paired it with a fresh passion fruit juice. Andy got the BBQ pork ribs served with rice and veggies and paired it with an Imperial beer. All of the food is locally sourced from the village. The cabanas are a rustic feel but have all of amenities you need for a comfortable stay. We fell asleep the the sound of the howler monkeys. We were able to do an early AM hike through the plantain farm and the loop around the property which is a majestic experience in itself! We recently had a conversation about what each of us would be doing if we had never come into each other’s lives. It was very apparent that we each have unique interests as individuals but the the core foundation of our relationship grew from our love for the outdoors. We already knew this, but it was refreshing to remind ourselves of that. It was also grounding to reflect on the person each of us was before we met each other, but at the same time be mindful and grateful for the live we have created together. Here is our conversation summed up... “I would often be hiking in the woods with Daisy, but probably not exploring much out of my comfort zone. I would be pondering life by the fire with a craft beer in hand.” “I would be trotting the world meeting people from all over, and finding hiking trails in each country I visit...but always with other people.” I encourage you to have this conversation with your partner. We hiked the Santa Maria Sector of Rincon De La Vieja National Park. It was the perfect way to spend a day exploring the park and what the sector has to offer. On our next visit we would love to check out the Las Pailas Sector which offers some more challenging terrain.
