Hey! I haven't been very active here lately, mostly due to a lack of inspiration. But since I started rewatching BBC's series "Sherlock", have a little pencil drawing of Sherlock's older brother Mycroft Holmes (in the series portrayed by Mark Gatiss). This was also an interesting opportunity for me to experiment with a more realistic style as well as portrait drawing. Hope you like it :)

Honestly, the last week of @wdtajn was the perfect excuse to draw Bruno and his rats dancing in fancy outfits :) I was thinking that, if "Encanto" was set in the 2020s, Bruno would be a child of the 70s...that lead to the idea of him and the rats partying to some disco song - and "Stayin' alive" by the "Bee Gees" was kinda the first song that came to my mind. I imagine Bruno quietly humming this to himself behind the walls to keep up his courage and spirits. And now that he's back - disco party with Bruno Jorge in John Travolta's epic suit :)
Thank you very much, @clownmoontoon and @sketchncanto for hosting this event. I bet you can tell I had a lot of fun! :)

Oh, how about 5, 6, and 25 for the artist asks?
Thank you very much for asking! :)
5 (What’s your favorite thing to draw?) - I don't really have any clear preferences when it comes to topics; it rather has to do with what I'm interested in at the moment. So, if I'm really involved in a certain book/film/series, I love drawing things that have to do with it (although, of course, I mostly have preferences when it comes to characters). In general, I like drawing as naturalistic as possible - and I especially enjoy motives that are at least a little humorous :)
6 (What’s your least favorite thing to draw?) - Since I mentioned above that I like to draw in a naturalistic style, this also has its downsides: hands or faces, for example, are something that I find really difficult to draw (at least when they're meant to look good ;)
25 (Do you like to draw in silence, or with music?) - That depends: While I totally don't mind drawing in silence, I sometimes like listening to music, too. But I always choose something that doesn't distract me too much - usually actual songs with lyrics make it a little hard for me to focus; that's why I mostly listen to classical music while drawing (especially baroque music).

2, 16, and 29 for the artist asks! :3
Thank you! :) <3
2 (How long have you been drawing?) - That's a good question...I remember that I've always liked drawing and even as a child I was constantly doodling something on every piece of paper I could find. As to drawing more "professionally": I became even more interested in it and started taking extra drawing (and other art-related) lessons in high school, so I'd say about 10 to 15 years.
16 (Do you draw more today than you did in the past, or do you draw less?) - I think there were quite a few ups and downs when it came to my drawing activities in the past: While I was still at school I drew quite a lot and then for some years I focused more on other things like my studies (besides, at that point I was a bit unsatisfied with my art, feeling like I hadn't really found my own style yet). But since I discovered Tumblr and saw so much great art there, I've been feeling very inspired again and consequently also draw more (although maybe still not as much as when I was at school as I'm currently not taking any art classes).
29 (For traditional artists: How do you usually start on a big piece? (Light sketch, colored lead, sketchpaper, etc)) - To be honest, I literally start anywhere and then see where that takes me. For example, when drawing a face, I start with the pupil of one eye and then I use that as a kind of "anchor" and try to "build" everything around that. I had this great art teacher at school who would really show us how to "see" when it came to draw naturalistic pictures.
One time, he would make us draw self-portraits - but not the usual way: He first took a picture of each person's face and then printed it out on paper with a screen across, so that the image was divided into many little squares. Then he gave us drawing paper that was equally divided into little squares and made us "draw" our self-portrait on this paper by simply copying square by square - that means, we weren't allowed to do any sketches, draw outlines first etc. but rather the whole drawing formed via the different shading of each square. And what can I say: each and every portrait looked great!
That really challenged my personal view on drawing and ever since then, I've been approaching every motive by trying to "break it up" into the different forms and shapes (circles, triangles etc.) that it seems to consist of. It's a bit hard to describe, but I hope it's understandable what I mean :)

Have a little drawing of Jedi Knight Bruno and his faithful rat-porg Padawan for week 3 (crossover) of @wdtajn
The lightsabers don't contain usual kyber crystals, but pieces of Bruno's vision tablets instead ;)

I don’t know if this has been done before, but...for the first week of the “We don't talk about June challenge” by @wdtajn have a little redraw of the Barbie meme :)
“What happened?” you may ask - well, Bruno and his family wanted to go on vacation, but Bruno got caught trying to smuggle all of his probably 100+ rats onto the plane. He tried to disguise them, but unfortunately it didn’t work LOL

Just one word (okay, it’s actually three words, but you get what I mean):
Funny animal videos!
Cute animal videos work, too. As far as I remember it has even been scientifically proven that looking at cute animals boosts the serotonin or something else that makes one feel happy. I think literally anything that makes one smile or laugh will work :) (I personally recommend hamster "fails" - I know it's a tiny bit mean, but watching hamsters racing so enthusiastically in their wheels that they end up getting catapulted out of it never fails to make me laugh - sorry, hamsters! ;)
And if it feels impossible at the moment: outwit your own brain. Stand in front of the mirror and grin/smile as widely as you can for at least one minute - this signals your brain happiness even if you’re currently not really feeling it (it’s really weird how well this works!)
