the thing that’s getting me about chadwick, is how tired he must have been. how much strength it takes to be undergoing painful treatment and invasive surgery, and to still be creating art. to know you probably will not live to a ripe old age and to say “i’m creating a legacy now” and using the time you have on this earth to tell black stories, to embody a warrior and a king for black people to see themselves reflected in, to create art. that sort of strength deserved to live, it deserved to survive. it’s so incredibly unfair.

bastardized indian food things
anything that’s not spicy
anything that involves less than 4 spices/herbs (seriously it’s gotta make your eyes burn while cooking)
adding things like nutmeg and vanilla to masala chai and/or serving it iced (????????), and then calling it chai tea/chai latte like……im honestly so confused just call it a cinnamon latte this has nothing to do with chai
butter chicken is not chicken soaked in butter oh my god, in fact it hardly has any butter in it idk why it’s called that
putting meat in samosas (minced meat is ok i’m talking about stuff like chicken chunks like….what)
“curry”, like just “curry”, not a specific type of curry, just ominous. vague. curry.
seriously i don’t understand why y’all are obsessed with the word “curry” when we don’t really call any dish a curry, if there’s a word we overuse it’s masala
using the same combination of spices/herbs for every dish, usually the ones used in western cooking, completely ignoring things like tamarind and turmeric and cardamom and curry leaves (yeah that’s a real plant)
tandoori chicken that’s actually just unseasoned roasted chicken with red food coloring
“oh rotis are just tortillas lol” listen. 99% of the time tortillas are corn flour and rotis are wheat flour, also they’re used in completely different ways in their respective cuisines don’t do this to me
making a mango milkshake and calling it a lassi (yOU HAVE TO USE YOGURT)
thinking that lassi=sweet even though savory lassis exist because for some reason western culture is afraid of drinks that aren’t sweet? (spicy drinks are good y’all…i swear it’s not as weird as it sounds)
only associating indian food with mangoes and ignoring guavas, jackfruit, lychee, etc
putting beef or pork in indian food like???? y’all know the majority of indians are hindu or muslim right??? (i eat beef but beef in indian food is so……horribly wrong to me)
there’s a distinct and clear difference between north indian and south indian food and treating “indian food” like it’s a monolith is astounding to me
ketchup flavored and mint flavored potato chips are not as gross as they sound i swear
I also don’t understand why mint (and cinnamon for that matter) is only associated with sweet foods in western culture, y’all know it’s an herb right, it’s not inherently sweet, you can definitely use it in savory dishes
completely ignoring the huge variety of vegetable dishes in favor of the meat ones that pale in comparison
rose and falooda flavored things are great, why doesn’t western food have flower flavored things??
paneer is not cottage cheese, it is technically cheese but it’s used more like tofu
saying redundant things like “chai tea” or “naan bread”
seeing white people struggle to describe indian food in english like “crispy savory crepe with spiced lentil dipping sauce” is honestly so funny to me
