It's a lot healthier to go for a daily walk than to sign up for a gym membership you won't be using because you hate that kind of exercise. It's a lot healthier to eat a frozen meal than to skip a meal because you were too tired to cook something healthy. It's a lot healthier to take a quick shower than to procrastinate an elaborate routine for days. Don't aim so high that you won't be hitting anything!

Ok so I’m not sure if this is the EXACT way it’s supposed to go, but this is how I think one is meant to watch the Hatchet-verse:
1.) Nerdy Prudes Must Die
2.) The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals
3.) Nightmare Time season 1
4.) Black Friday
5.) Nightmare Time season 2

NPMD- all lords in black are introduced to Hatchetfeild because Grace, Steph and Pete opened a door
GWDLM- Otho attempts to take over Hatchetfeild, “testing the waters” for his siblings
Nightmare Time S1- Hatchetfeild madness ensues, in addition to Otho’s siblings slowly becoming more involved in Hatchetfeild residents lives. One of the siblings (the yellow goat dude who’s name I don’t remember) resets the timeline of Hatchetfeild (hence Grace getting younger which I don’t think she actually does because I can’t remember where in TGWDLM it says she’s 15???? )
Black Friday- Wiggly sees the timeline switch as an opportunity to show-up his brother and be even more successful than Otho was at taking over with the help of Uncle Wily.
Nightmare Time S2- Following Wiggly’s failure, the remaining siblings who haven’t attempted to take over Hatchetfeild see how easy it is (could be) and try themselves. Otho waits patiently to get his hands on Hanna (and Lex) while finding others like them that he can use a vessel for his siblings (that’s a whole different post). His attempt ultimately drives Hannah and Lex out of Hatchetfeild losing his and his siblings’ chance at World domination, leaving them to simply settle for Hatchetfeild.

OK OK OK!!!
I don’t know if anyone else realizes this but NPMD is EXTREMELY Heathers coded!!! The costumes, the lighting, the NAMES…. I’m freakin out man! And I’ve been listening to the soundtrack like a maniac (we all have probably) and I realized that when Max is alive the music has a very 70’s/80’s vibe to it, and the vocabulary used by the rest of the “students” is all 80’s lingo. But when he dies it WILDLY switches to 90’s/00’s/10’s! And you’re like “yeah so what they changed the style cause he dies. A lot of musicals do” BUT IM NOT DONE REALIZING SHIT YET!!!
When we see Max on stage, everyone is not only terrified, but they change their way of speaking instinctively/ immediately. And when he dies, everyone relaxes and speaks like real people in the modern age. When his ghost is rumored to be haunting Hatchetfeild, everyone switches again.
Max has psychology trained all of Hatchetfeild to be sub-characters in HIS 80’s high school musical cliché!
But why? Because he was probably trained by his parents (more than likely divorced) to think that “the 80’s were a better time”, or “things were easier back then. Jocks rule, and everyone else was a literal loser”. Max isn’t just a monster, he’s a trained monster.
But, Max isn’t always a monster, especially when talking to Grace. Because she probably reminds him of his mother in old pictures (not to mention that Grace is the only girl in school that gives him pushback, but that’s a conversation for a different day). And in the Waylon house, when Max’s entire ideology is questioned, he backs down and his vocabulary modernizes. However when he dies and goes into the black and white, the Lords in Black make that 80’s main character personality consume him. His “movie” is no longer an 80’s rom-com, it’s an 80’s horror film, BUT HE STILL HAS TO BE THE MAIN CHARACTER.
All this to say, I love this addition to Hatchfield and I can’t wait to see when happens next 😍
