I read a fic today, a follow up to something I had bookmarked, and in the notes the author insulted demon slayer/gotouge. It put me off so much that I ended up removing the bookmark…

I don’t think demon slayer or its author are perfect by any means, but something about insulting it in the fanfic you’re writing about it is so strange to me.

In general I hate fics that completely rewrite demon slayer (or any media) in order to “fix” it. It shows way too much hubris. I do think there are many writers on ao3 even more talented than gotouge , but none of them are writing these kinds of fics which I think says a lot.

I don’t say this to dunk on a (probably younger) writer. Just that I think authors should be realistic with their skills as well as kind to the media inspiring them.

(Also to be clear I think there’s a difference in fixing specific things (again nothing is beyond criticism) and claiming to fix the story overall)

Hypothetically speaking, how would THE MERMAIDS react to being booped? Since it seems to be a topic now.

Kyoujurou: He’d be confused but then he’d repeat the gesture to the other mermaids (even Obanai and Sanemi)

Senjurou: Initially nervous but then he’d giggle once booped

Obanai: Only Mitsuri is allowed to boop him, otherwise he hisses

Sanemi: If you want to keep your fingers, maybe don’t boop

Kanao: No reaction other than staring

Giyuu: Blinks in confusion

Muichirou: He’ll mirror and boop back

Zenitsu: If a girl boops him, he squeals with delight. If it’s Uzui, he’ll try and bite him

Genya: Before being booped, he glares with suspicion. After a successful boop, he freezes up because it’s such a gentle gesture and he’s not used to it.

Tanjirou: He doesn’t get it but he’ll try and boop others afterward

Nezuko: She loves getting booped and she loves booping others

your tomioka’s wife series has been such a great little series to read. i really liked the last fic you posted too. the way you wrote giyuu and readers path to intimacy again was wonderful 💜 i love fics that deal with the aftermath of the final battle and you did a great job at it! i love how giyuu and reader love each other 🥹❤️

Thank you so much!! All the other things I tried writing were set before the ending but none of them felt quite right. And then this final version flowed much more easily! I really wish we got more post-battle content in canon because I think he’d struggle to adjust.

(p.s. it’s a giyuu x oc fic but you should read crow mail/going postal by sciathan_file on ao3. It was easy for me to read it like a reader insert and really inspired this final fic!)

I have to get in bed before my dog does otherwise he takes up too much space and will not move (he’s like 70lbs so I can’t push him). But he’s really good at cuddling so I don’t mind it.

My other dog doesn’t sleep on the bed :p
