Today was the day, you waited for Hermione at the normal spot on Platform 9ž. This morning you got dressed quickly in a blue blouse and black pelleted skirt, your mother always swore that you dressed as if Ravenclaw was more than just your house but your whole wardrobe. You were more than a half-hour earlier than the past couple of years due to your excitement. Taking a seat with your things and your two animal companions, Lyra your cat, and Hawthorn your owl, you began to go over what you know about the coded book to pass the time. Looking over what you know, it becomes clear that Merlin may have originally written in code to protect what he found from dark wizards.
Given that Morgan le Faye was one of the most powerful witches, a dark one at that, and a part of Authur's court it made the most sense for such caution but the more you looked at the code the more confusing it got. Once you were at Hogwarts you'd have access to all your code and cipher books again but until then you had to work with what you remember. The first thing about any code was to check for repeating words which you found quickly when Draco first presented the tome and journals to you.
Now all you had to do was figure out which words were part of the code and which were filler, you sighed as you looked over the passage you had copied. What words truly didn’t belong and which were the true code yet to be deciphered? As you sat there confused at your notes you didn’t hear the soft footsteps on the tile making their way towards you.
“We aren’t even on the train yet and you are already studying without me,” Hermione dressed in her normal casual clothes said as she set Crookshanks down to play with Lyra before sitting down next to you.
“Studying without you, never” closing your notebook before turning to look at Hermione, “Just a little puzzle Draco gave me to keep my mind extra sharp to beat you at the History of Magic, again,” you said as you hugged your her.
“I doubt Malfoy can help you beat me at anything, but I’ll take your word for it. Since you two are totally not into each other or anything of the sort,” she said as she looked down at the pen Draco got you for last Christmas.
“Hey now look who’s talking. You spent most of the summer at the Weasley’s and all you did other than fight with Ron was think about him,” you said crossing your arms as your cheeks turned red.
“Well he’s just being difficult and an oaf,” Hermione said as she looked down at the floor while blushing “Besides its not like we don’t hang out a lot we are practically glued to each other once Harry is around.” Saying as she looks up at you as another friend starts approaching from behind you as Hermione scowls at them.
“Well I think the three of you need to-AHH” you were cut off as someone tickled your sides from behind as you elbowed them in the stomach hearing them groan.
Hermione couldn’t help but chuckle as she saw Draco Malfoy dressed in an all-black suit hunched over holding his stomach as a ‘punishment’ for sneaking up and tickling you.
“Not funny Granger,” Draco said as he looked at the Gryffindor annoyed before he then Y/n turned around and looked at him, “Merlin’s sake Y/n that hurt.”
“Haven't I told you not to sneak up on me Draco,” you said jokingly as you got up and helped him sit down next to you. “Don’t you remember what happened last time someone did that?”
“I remember. I remember.” He said as he sat down on the small bench with you and Hermione as he leaned his head back groaning in pain.
“Says the one who didn’t learn from it and did it anyway,” Hermione said as she rolled her eyes. It was no secret that Hermione didn’t much care for Draco but in recent years he had become tolerable since she saw firsthand how different he was with you around.
“Last I remember I didn’t scare her, it was that Weasbee and Pottah,” Draco said as he looked over at Hermione with an amused expression, “I remember that I was working with Y/n in potions like always and Weasbee thought it would be a grand idea to try and take her wand while she was adding to the potion but he bumped her and then the potion blew up.” He said chuckling lightly before groaning again as his stomach still hurt.
“Ron bumped into her because Goyle and Crabbe behave like toddlers, you insufferable blonde ferret,” Hermione argued as you rolled your eyes at your two friends fighting like siblings.
"Hey now Harry dared Ron to do it," you tried to say before Hermione took out her frustration on Draco.
“Ferret? Why am I a ferret?” He said while sitting up and looking at both Hermione and Y/n as she shrugged her shoulders just as confused as he was.
"Because you are a spoiled, privileged, know-it-all trickster who up until two years ago was a bully toward me and so many other students," Hermione said as she looked at the blonde shooting daggers.
"And I've apologized for it," Draco said slightly pissed off as he looked from you to Hermione "I know I wasn't exactly the best these past couple of years," Draco said calmly as he looked over at Hermione before looking at you sadly as he knew that you hated the fighting. "I'm trying my best to make up for what I've done."
"I understand that Malfoy, but just because you are taking the right steps doesn't mean everyone will be quick to forgive you," Hermione said calmly while gathering her stuff and cat, "I'll see you later Y/n," she said before walking towards the Weasleys and Harry who just showed up.
"You have to admit Draco," you turn and look at him, "She is right. You kinda did put most of Gryffindor through hell until last year."
"I know I know," he says while looking down at the train station floor. "Thankfully you talked some sense into me before I got worse." He said shifting a bit in his seat remembering how angry you were after the Buckbeck incident. "Though I still don't understand how you tolerate Granger when she gets like that," Draco said as he sat up and looked over at the mostly ginger group as they chatted.
"Because despite how much you two hate each other my life wouldn't be complete without my two amazing and smart best friends," you said smiling at the blonde boy.
"When you put it that way it seems as though your friendship with both of them makes you feel whole, like how mooncalves without the moon hide away during the day. They would be lonely without the light of the moon every night,” said the soft angelic voice of Luna Lovegood as she knelt down to play with Lyra as both Draco and you looked at her dumbfounded.
“Luna you scare me sometimes with how accurate you are,” Y/n said as you smiled at your whimsical friend.
"And how you randomly appear," Draco said under his breath as you nudged him slightly, "I'm just saying."
"You two remind me of these Kneazles I raised over the summer," Luna started as she picked up your cat, "Both searching for some new adventure but coming back together when it gets too hard to go alone," she said mysteriously as she handed Draco the cat before leaving to get her stuff as the Hogwarts Express that just pulled into the station.
"We remind her of what?" Draco turned to you confused as Lyra played with his black tie.
"Apparently cats. But it was maybe, sweet? I don't know anymore" You said smiling a bit as you stood up and began to gather your things. "Come on now ferret boy we got a train to board." turning to him as you loaded up your trolly.
Draco groaned as he stood up and walked with you pushing his trolly as your cat jumped from his shoulder onto your trolly. "Really? I'm not a ferret," he said as he looked down slightly annoyed at the new nickname you made.
"Oh, come on Darco ferrets are smart and brilliant animals. Plus they are some of the cutest mammals out there," you said trying to ignore the blush forming as you nudge him while walking.
Draco blushed slightly as he looked up and smiled at you. "Ferrets are smart and brilliant you say?" he said as he walked with you.
"Indeed my dear Dragon, Hermione may have meant it as an insult but it does suit you," smiling as you parked your trolly by the luggage attendant and put Lyra in her carrier next to Hawthorn.
"Gotta catch up with a few friends," you said as you hugged Draco. "I'll see you and those journals, in a bit okay?"
"Yeah I'll see you soon Y/n," he said as he held you close not knowing that a few friends were watching from inside the train.
Draco POV
After Y/n walked away towards the booth that Hermione was most likely in. Draco just stood there for a minute before going to the booth his friends were in.
"What was that all about?" said Pansy as she was standing arms crossed just inside the hallway of the train.
"Excuse me?" he said confused about what Pansy meant as he tried to walk past her to their normal booth.
"That hug with Y/n. Please tell me you two finally started dating." Pansy said as she continued to block his path while smirking at him.
"No Pansy we didn't," he rolled his eyes, "Now please move I'd like to sit down." Getting more frustrated by the second.
"Well that's a shame, I like how she makes you less grumpy," she said as she stepped out of his way. "And she clearly has-” Before she could continue she was cut off by her boyfriend Blaise Zabini.
“Pansy, let him sit down and relax before you start gossiping, please darling,” Blaise said as Draco finally found his best mate in their normal booth.
“Fine I'll let the 'ferret boy' relax," smirking as she sat down next to Blaise as Draco sighed while sitting down across from the couple.
"You heard that?" Draco questioned as he wasn't angry but more embarrassed than anything else.
"Oh please Dray, I hear everything," Pansy smirked as the train car began to fill up with students from Ravenclaw and Slytherin.
"That's what scares me," said Draco under his breath as he looked out the window and saw all the parents waving at their children from the platform.
Blaise chuckled as he was the only one who heard Draco since Pansy was too busy watching people get onto the train car and carefully eavesdropping on each conversation. Draco's thoughts went to the journals and tome he had you look at. The books were safe in the black messenger bag you got him for Christmas since he put a small protection charm on it just in case someone wanted to take it.
Draco hadn’t been paying much attention to the conversation his friends were having until he felt someone sit down next to him. He turned his head slightly and saw Theo Nott had sat down next to him.
“I see that Draco is his normal quiet self. Nothing interesting happened this summer?” Theo asked as he looked over at his friends.
"Well I can tell you one thing that didn't happen this summer," Pansy said smugly while looking at Draco.
"Oooh, do tell Pansy. I'm all ears about what the 'Prince of Slytherin' wasn't able to achieve," Theo jokingly said as he leaned back looking at Pansy.
"Well our dear prince still hasn't confessed his undying love towards his dear childhood friend Y/n this summer," she said dramatically as Blaise rolled his eyes and shook his head.
"He didn't," Theo said pretending to be shocked as he turned toward Draco. "Come on mate it's been a good while now since you've started 'fixing' up your attitude and building up the courage to tell her how you feel, so why haven't you?" he said teasing Draco's new behavior.
"It's complicated," Draco said coldly as he looked at his friends while loosening his tie.
"Bloody Hell Draco, no it isn't," Theo said while throwing his hands up, "You fancy her, ask her out on a date."
"You are ridiculous," Draco said as he stood up, "Move Nott," almost growling as he looked at Theo.
"Fine be in denial," Theo said as he stood up and moved out of the way. "But just know if you don't make a move, someone else will."
Before anyone else could say anything to Draco he was already out of the train car. On his way, he grabbed the bag with the journals and the tome checking to see if anyone tampered with it. Once he was sure nobody messed with it, he continued to where Y/n would meet him.
Normal POV
You'd been staring out the window waiting for Draco to come with the journals for only a few minutes thinking about all the secrets Merlin kept in his journals. To think after all this time, that one of the greatest wizards of all time's journals were at your disposal, let alone with your best friend. You were too lost in thought to hear the compartment door open and close before someone sat down next to you.
"What are you thinking about?" Draco said as he took out the journals and tome before standing up and closing the compartment blinds carefully.
"Nothing that you don't already know," you said happily as you opened the first journal. "How was the Slytherin gang? Pansy still the school gossip?" you questioned as you took out your notebook and pen.
"Still the school gossip it seems," he said as he took off his suit jacket and loosened his tie before sitting back down next to you, "Blaise is his normal quiet self. Pansy hasn't changed him yet, thankfully," smiling as he watched you began to write some notes.
"I highly doubt that Pansy can change him unless he wanted to though I believe his attitude about blood status has improved since I started helping you understand," looking up from the tome to look Draco in the eyes for a moment before copying down more notes. "Even if it was hard at first."
Draco smiled as he listened to you talk about his friend and how much progress he made since that first day you started 'whipping him into shape'. He'd never admit to anyone except you, his mother, and Blaise how much of an ass he really was two years ago. Theo had made fun of him after he once saw you and Draco practicing with Luna and Neville practicing charms by the Black Lake. Theo complained about how he was hanging out with Looney Lovegood and Loasy Longbottom, for some reason this made Draco mad when he talked about your friends but he didn't understand why.
"Hard yes, but it's easier thanks to you and your endless amount of patience," he said as he looked over at what you were copying down, "Are those star maps?" confused about how you got to star maps.
"I decoded a few of the first lines and they were talking about how 'Casseopia greets the Lion and the Dragon on a cool evening. Once greeted the confusione shall disappear from thy parchment' so I drew up a rough star map to see how the stars would be positioned during the coming months," you said as you explained happily what you found.
"So when do Cassiopeia, Leo, and Draco greet each other in the night sky?" he said awkwardly unsure if this was a big clue or not.
"it seems so but I'll check the star maps in the library to be sure. So how does it feel that your namesake is a part of this riddle my dear dragon?" teasing him a bit as you nudged him playfully.
"Confused yet important," he said as he sat up giving you his smug smirk. "And if it wasn't for me snooping around my family library we wouldn't be on whatever adventure this is." nudging you back as he normally would though it felt a little different.
"Well as much as that is true, you'd be lost without me Draco," smiling as you stood up, "probably best to get changed into my robes before I get lost in the journals"
"I'll stay here till you get back Y/n," smiling as he watched you open the compartment door and close it behind you. He looked over your notes while you were gone trying desperately to read your handwriting when he thought he saw the slightest hint of a heart next to his name.

Artifacts of Merlin
Chapter One - Old Journals
Draco Malfoy x Ravenclaw Fem! Reader
Concept: I'm a huge fan of The Mummy movies from 1999 & 2001. I wanted a fun, adventure, action-packed, and slightly comedic mashup filled with magic and love. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
Summary: In an alternate universe Voldemort was officially defeated by Harry Potter during his first year at Hogwarts. The world of Witches and wizards has finally known peace. While the golden trio has not so many big grand adventures a Ravenclaw student, Y/n Constantine, with help from her childhood friend Draco Malfoy, stumble on a discovery of a lifetime. She enlists the help of her classmates and friends. Hermione Granger, one of the best witches she knows, and Luna Lovegood one of her roommates and a very insightful person. Where this artifact will take them they don't know. Will friendships evolve into something more? Or will tensions between the group come in the way of the answers? Will Hermione punch Draco in the face again? maybe Will Luna make out-of-pocket comments? probably Will the quest change them or will the quest change the world?

Y/n POV
Summer had come and gone all too soon but just as summer came to an end, a new school year filled with excitement was about to begin you thought as you slowly sat up in your bed. This would be the start of your fifth year at Hogwarts and you were beyond excited to see your friends again. Though you lived not too far from some of them, that didn't mean you didn't miss seeing them every day.
As you got out of bed a familiar owl tapped on your bedroom window. Making your way over to the window you let the eagle owl in as he drops a letter for you. Smiling you pick up the letter and give the eagle owl a snack before it flies off.
The envelope is black with a green wax seal with the Malfoy family crest pressed into the wax, Draco. He was your friend and neighbor since you were small but despite 'the prince' of Slytherin's' tough and arrogant persona he was still that kind-hearted kid you used to play with all those years ago. You opened the letter and began to read it.
The letter reads:
Y/n,
Meet me in my mother's garden as soon as you can, I found something in the library that might be worth looking into regarding your favorite subject. I know that clever mind of yours can't say no to a puzzle like the one I've found. See you soon Pegasus.
~Your favorite troublemaker
Draco
PS. I know you'll meet Granger at Platform 9ž tomorrow but please don't tell that know it all about this. Don't want her telling Potter and Weasbee.
You sighed as Draco was indeed your favorite troublemaker despite his attitude towards some of your friends, especially Hermione Granger. You thought back to your first adventures with Draco as you got ready for the day. You met each other around the age of five when you moved from London to Wiltshire after your grandmother passed. Your parents’ inherited the family mansion, the house seemed gigantic as a child when you first moved in but once you met Draco the house turned into a stage for great adventures.
You smiled at the memory of meeting Draco the first time, it was one day late spring after you finally finished moving into the mansion. Mr. And Mrs. Malfoy came over and introduced themselves while Draco held onto his mother’s hand tightly till he saw you. Both your parents smiled as you invited Draco to come play while your parents talked about things going on within the Ministry of Magic.
Things were simpler back then as little kids. You'd both spend most of your summers exploring each other's mansions, reading in the libraries what you could, and having your 'Adventures' in the gardens. You smiled at the memories as you started to get ready. You put on a pair of dark grey shorts, a black tank top, and a denim jacket with your black ankle boots. You looked at yourself in the mirror and smiled to yourself as you put on some light makeup and French braided your h/c hair. Taking a deep breath as you stand up from your vanity and grab your messenger bag putting it on your shoulder. Making your way downstairs you grabbed two green apples from the kitchen island and made your way towards Malfoy Manor.
Draco's POV
It was a little over a half hour since Draco sent Y/n that letter. She would come over to see what he had found, she always did when it could be a new adventure for them. But this time something felt different about this one. He was pacing in the kitchen as one of the house elves prepared breakfast for Draco and Narcissa.
"Draco darling, please sit and eat. You're gonna make the floor warp from all your pacing" Narcissa said as she watched her son pace anxiously.
"Sorry, Mum. It's just that Y/n is coming over soon and I have to tell her about a puzzle I found." Draco said quietly as he sat down across from his mother at the kitchen table. His mother smiled at him as one of the house elves put breakfast on the table.
"Y/n is an extraordinary girl," Narcissa said as she started eating breakfast, "And a pretty one too," she said while smiling at her son.
"Yeah she is," Draco said as a blush formed on his cheeks before he realized what he said, "I mean she is pretty but she's just a friend mum," he said trying to change the subject.
"Right, a friend who is a girl who is closer to you than that one girl you briefly dated last year. What was her name again? Patrica? Piper? Prudence?" Narcissa said teasing her son about his developing feelings for Y/n.
"Pansy mum. She started dating Blaise this summer," He said as he groaned thinking about his short relationship with Pansy that turned out to be nothing other than friends. He was happy for his friends' relationship but he wondered if his friendship with Y/n was just a friendship.
"Ah yes, Pansy. She and Blaise will make a cute couple," she says looking at how her son reacted to her teasing, "Now what is this puzzle you want to show Y/n?", she said after taking a sip of her tea and looking at her son who had barely touched his food.
"Well you know how Y/n is practically obsessed with Merlin and Morgan le Fay's history," Draco said as he looked out the kitchen window smiling as he continued, "I may have found something referencing Merlin but it's in a code," he said as he saw Y/n slowly making her way to the manor.
"Another one of your little quests," Narcissa said referring to how the two would make up 'quests' when they were younger as she looked out the window she saw Y/n opening the back gate. "Well, I'll let you two start your new adventure," she said as she got up and took their plates to the sink.
Y/n POV
Walking up to the gate of Malfoy Manor you felt a bit of excitement as you slowly opened the large gate. You saw Draco in the kitchen window talking with his mother as you slowly made your way through the huge backyard. You always liked Draco's mother Narcissa, she always made you feel welcome whenever you and Draco hung out despite Lucius not wanting you around much since you called him out on his pureblood bullshit.
"Ah Ms. Constantine to what do I owe the pleasure of you visiting this morning," Lucius said coldly as he looked at you from his table under a willow tree.
"Good Morning Mr. Malfoy. Draco had something he wanted to show me so I came over as soon as could," you said trying to sound your normal pleasant self which was hard since Lucius Malfoy made your blood boil most times.
"Draco is in the kitchen with his mother, Good day Ms. Constantine," He said as he simply waved you off as he picked up his cup of tea, and the Daily Prophet completely uninterested in you.
"Good day," you said as you continued making your way to the garden which was past the kitchen you started to calm down.
Despite being friends with Draco for so long and knowing the Malfoy's for most of your life you could never get used to Lucius Malfoy's attitude and cold demeanor. Thankfully unlike her husband, Narcissa enjoyed you and was pleasant and kind, unlike her husband. As you walked past one of the kitchen windows you saw Narcissa talking with the house elves. She was much kinder to the house elves and treated them as if they were people rather than servants. As you continued on you saw Draco pacing as he had a few books on the small garden table.
"You know if you keep pacing like that the grass will stop growing Draco," you chuckled as you walked up to the pacing boy scaring him out of his thoughts.
"Bloody Hell Y/n you scared me," Draco said as he looked at you and clenched his chest as some of his hair fell over his eyes.
"Well it's your fault you were too deep in your thoughts that you didn't notice me," you said as you threw him an apple before taking a bite of your own, "Now what do you have for me to solve," smirking as you watched Draco catch the apple and smile at you.
"Good morning to you too," smiling as he took a bite of the apple, "So I was looking through the library since my father bought another old book collection. I looked through them and found that a few books were written entirely in some code."
"Some code or just Old English," you took out a magnifying glass from your bag before setting the bag down beside one of the chairs.
"Very Funny Y/n. But Old English I can translate. This is something beyond my skill level, surprisingly," Draco said a bit annoyed as he watched you examine the text carefully line by line.
"Surprisingly," you chuckle as you continue to examine the text.
As you examined the text it was indeed in some form of code but none that you have seen before. In the past few years while at Hogwarts, you developed a reputation of being one of the best 'code breakers' and helped translate books and texts for some extra credit for Professor Binns. After looking over the first couple of pages you take a notebook out and start writing down a few sentences and phrases. This was definitely one of the harder codes to crack but several words seemed to repeat creating a pattern in the code.
~After a few hours and several breaks later. ~
You close your notebook in excitement as you look up at Draco beaming with joy.
"You found something?" he said as he knew that smile meant you had figured out part of the puzzle.
"Maybe, these other two books are the same code?" looking at the other books around the same size but instead of being tome, they were older looking as if from the early 10th century which was most likely magically preserved.
"Well that's the thing," he said as he reached past you to pick up one of the leather-bound books, "I think these are journals," opening the book you see a neat handwriting that was oddly similar to a few books in the restricted section.
"Draco where did your father get these again?" looking up at the boy who was so close you could feel his breath on you as you looked up to those gray eyes.
"He didn't, unfortunately," Draco said as he looked at those e/c eyes of yours and smiled, "But if you look here," he opened to the last page of the one journal where there was a name on the bottom left corner.
"Merlin.." you said as if you couldn't believe what your own eyes were seeing as this was one of the journals of Merlin himself. "Draco you need to bring these wit-"
"Me to Hogwarts so that you can research it more and figure out what actually happened to Merlin this could be one of the biggest discoveries of all wizard kind," he said smiling as he closed both books, "I'm way ahead of you Pegasus, as always."
"I wouldn't say always, Dragon," dropping the nickname you gave him when you were younger and found out about his namesake. Just as he did when he found out your birthday coincided with the constellation Pegasus. Both of you smiled at each other as you packed up your bag again.
"So will you be on the train with Granger, Pottah, and Weasbee tomorrow?" he asked cautiously and dryly as he watched you pack up your stuff not wanting you to go just yet.
"Do I sense a hint of jealousy from the 'prince' of Slytherin? Because green is your color after all." teasing your best friend as you finish packing up turning to look at him as his arms are now crossed and he's looking at you with a mix of jealousy, anger, and hurt in his eyes. You always hated to see when he got like this but you suppose that's what happens when your father is a prick.
"Draco," you said softly as you walked up to him taking one of his hands, "We can sit together on the train after I say hello to Minoe and Luna. Plus we can look at these journals more. If you can sneak them out of the Manor," you say trying to calm him down.
"Taking them to Hogwarts will be easy, unlike avoiding Weasbee and Granger's arguments all year. I still don't know why you are friends with that bloo-," Draco stopped himself before saying something he knew you'd hate him for, "Bloody idiot." he said as he looked away.
"Well, I mean it comes with being friends with Mione. I can normally tolerate Ron but lately, it's just weird," looking down at the ground you think about how the train ride at the end of the year felt strange.
"I know how much you can't stand the tension between Granger and Weasbee as of late. You told me that much," chuckling as holds your hand gently thinking back to your hour-long rant.
It was true that Hermione and Ron had some weird tension between each other since the Yule Ball. Some kind of jealousy sparked in Ron whenever Hermione was around Viktor Krum. Now every time Hermione gets close to another boy Ron calls her out. It was driving you insane how dense Ron actually was.
"I just wish Minoe could tell that thick-headed boy how she felt about him. It's so obvious that the whole school can see it," you say as you look at how you are holding hands with Draco and blush a bit.
"Weasbee is as dense as they come especially when he tried to hex me with that broken wand," he says as he starts laughing which in turn makes you laugh.
"Stop it that was terrible for Ron," giggling as you playfully hit him on the shoulder.
"The number of slugs that he," Draco couldn't get the words out as he continued laughing.
You both stood there laughing for a bit as you remembered the slug incident. You remembered also how confused Draco was as you yelled at him for calling Hermione a 'mud blood'. From that day on anything he said about blood status was almost always followed by you yelling at him about how outdated those views were. And after almost 4 months of yelling and lecturing him, Draco started to think differently. As both of you eventually regained the ability to speak again you remembered that you still needed to pack.
"Shit, I gotta go pack," letting go of Draco's hand and giving him a small hug. "I'll see you tomorrow Draco."
"See you tomorrow Y/n." He smiled as he hugged you before he watched you walk home.

Late Summer Melody - Oneshot
Draco joins you as you play your guitar at the astronomy tower one early Saturday morning during the first weeks of the Fifth year. Being friends for so long maybe there is something more there.

It was one of the last warm Saturdays before the chill of fall began to set in. It was your favorite time of year to play some music from the top of the Astronomy Tower while your fellow students enjoyed their day. Not wanting to waste any more time you got changed into a pair of jeans, a dark green tank, a black flannel, and black converses. You were lazily brushing your hair, putting on your favorite rings, and putting on some light makeup when one of your roommates woke up.
"What is it this time that you are making so much noise Y/n?" said Daphne Greengrass as she stretched and rubbed the sleep from her eyes.
"You know me Daph. Gotta get a last few good sessions in before the chill sets in," you said taking a last look at yourself before getting up and grabbing your guitar.
"You and that guitar are gonna get in trouble one of these days I swear," Daphne chuckled as she shook her head.
"Okay, that was one time. I didn't know Filch was gonna be up there at 4:30 in the morning," you said thinking back to that morning two years ago. "Besides I'm sneaky and can avoid him better now."
"I'm sure you can Y/n. But what about us Prefects," said Pansy as she was leaning up against the door smirking with her arms crossed.
You turned around and put your guitar on your back before walking up to her. "Yes, Pansy my dear I can even avoid being detected by the Prefects which means that you and Draco have to try extremely hard just to find me after hours," you patted her shoulder as her face turned red and made your way out of the dorm. Before heading up the stairs you waved at Blaise and Theo before making your way out of the common room.
The walk was easy for you as this was the start of your fifth year at Hogwarts. Some of the first years were a bit weary of you since you were in Slytherin but they grew to understand that you were nothing to fear. You had been friends with Draco's group since first year but much like Blaise, you never joined in on the teasing and bullying, if anything you only had a slight distaste for the "famous" Harry Potter. Besides not like Harry's friends had any problem with you, especially because you had no issue with one of his closest friends, Hermione. She had become one of your closest friends outside of Slytherin since first year when you met on the Hogwarts Express. The two of you would always compare notes when the others were busy, after all the two top witches of their year have to push each other to be better.
"And where are you going this morning Y/n" Hermione said catching up to you as she was carrying a few heavy looking books.
"Astronomy Tower to play," smiling as you look at the Gryffindor, "Unlike you who is most likely going to spend her morning in the library until Ron gets you so you can have lunch." Hermonie just rolls her eyes a bit while blushing.
"That was only a few times last semester. Besides I'm tutoring this semester, and McGonagall thought it would be good for me to help Seamus to not blow up again," she said as you both were joined by Seamus.
"I don't blow things up that often," Seamus said as he rubbed the back of his neck embarrassed.
"Tell that to Snape," you said as you began listing off the explosive events "The house elves, Flitwick, and Madam Pomfrey"
"I get it, geez Y/n," he says as he sighs "I guess I need some help," he says opening the Library door for Hermonie.
"I'll see you later Monie," you say giving her a side hug before turning to Seamus, "Don't blow her up now, you hear. I need her to keep me on my toes," you said jokingly at the boy as Hermione smiled and walked into the library.
"Knowing Hermonie she'll be fine and I'll be the one exploding," Seamus said smiling a bit before following Hermonie into the library.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The rest of the walk to the Astronomy Tower was uneventful as it was still quite early for most students. Once reaching the top of the tower you pulled out a stool you stashed in the storage area and began playing some cords to tune your guitar. As you finished tuning you looked out at the castle and the valley that surrounded Hogwarts smiling as this school was truly a second home to you.
You began playing and humming 'Open Arms' by Journey while thinking of all the friends you've made and a special blonde that snuck his way into your heart. You get to about the chorus as you hear a creak on the stairs behind you but you continue playing for whoever is there until the person speaks up.
"So this is where you go every Saturday morning?" Draco said as he placed another stool down next to you and sat down. "Don't stop, you play beautifully," he said as he turned to look out at the castle before taking his charms book out of his bag.
"You come up here often Dray?" you say as you nudge him before continuing with the song watching him as you play the cords perfectly.
"I started coming up here towards the end of last semester when I needed some time to myself and then I started again on my Prefect rounds when I heard someone playing the guitar at midnight," he said as you smirked while playing, "Whoever that is better be more careful if some other Prefect were to find them they'd get detention and lose house points."
"Hm wonder who that person could be," pretending to be clueless as you started playing another song 'Listen to your Heart' by Roxette.
As you start playing you get so into the music that you don't see Draco admiring you play as he always did since you played one evening in the common room.
Draco Pov
'She'd been playing guitar every Saturday since first year I always loved it when she played even when I thought that her love for muggle music was unbecoming of a person of her blood status. Can't say I deserved a punch to the face more than I did that day.' He thought as he chuckled and smiled softly while she played beautifully as always.
He had started to come up to the Astronomy Tower to try and catch one of these performances since he almost ran into her towards the end of last semester. She had been playing such a sad yet beautiful song the morning before the final task of the Triwizard tournament. It stuck with him all summer. He had to hear you play again and more than just on his Prefect rounds.
'Salazar, she is always so beautiful when she plays. I wish I could tell her how beautiful she is whenever she thinks nobody is around.' he thought to himself feeling a bit bad that he invaded your private music sessions when he came up with an idea.
Your Pov
As you made it just about halfway through the song Draco spoke up.
"Y/n would you do me the honor of singing one of the songs you've been playing up here?" he said as he looked a little red in the face. You looked at him not only blushing from embarrassment but more so because the boy you have a crush on asked you to sing one of the songs you loved.
"Are you sure? I'm not as good at singing as I am at playing the guitar," you say downplaying yourself despite being a part of the Hogwarts Choir since second year.
"I'm sure. From what Daphne and Pansy say you sing just as well as you play," chuckling as he tried his best to reassure you.
"Well, I guess I can sing one of them," blushing as the boy you've had a crush on for a better half of a year asked you to sing for him.
All Draco could do was smile, he could barely contain himself as you started playing.
"I know there's something in the wake of your smile
I get a notion from the look in your eyes, yeah
You've built a love but that love falls apart
Your little piece of Heaven turns too dark
Listen to your heart when he's calling for you
Listen to your heart, there's nothing else you can do
I don't know where you're going and I don't know why
But listen to your heart before you tell him goodbye," you sing as you don't notice Draco putting his book down and taking something small out of his bag as you continue.
"Sometimes you wonder if this fight is worthwhile
The precious moments are all lost in the tide, yeah
They're swept away and nothing is what it seems
The feeling of belonging to your dreams
Listen to your heart when he's calling for you
Listen to your heart, there's nothing else you can do
I don't know where you're going and I don't know why
But listen to your heart before you tell him goodbye," at this part of the song you are getting really into it as Draco smiles happily as he watches you play for him.
"And there are voices that want to be heard
So much to mention but you can't find the words
The scent of magic, the beauty that's been (beauty that's been)
When love was wilder than the wind
Listen to your heart (take a listen to it) when he's calling for you
Listen to your heart (take a listen to it) there's nothing else you can do. I don't know where you're going and I don't know why
But listen to your heart before, oh
Listen to your heart (take a listen to it) when he's calling for you
Listen to your heart (take a listen to it) there's nothing else you can do. I don't know where you're going and I don't know why
But listen to your heart before
You tell him goodbye," you continue as you look up from your guitar and smile at Draco as he looks at you with something more than kindness and friendship which makes you blush as you continue to stare into his eyes before looking back out at Hogwarts Valley.
"Listen to your heart, Listen to your heart (take a listen to it)
Listen to your heart, Listen to your heart (take a, take a listen to it)
Listen to your heart, Listen to your heart (oh, oh)
Listen to your heart (oh, ooh, oh), Listen to your heart (oh, oh, oh)
Listen to your heart (oh, oh), Listen to your heart (oh, oh, oh)," you stop singing while playing the last cords and taking a deep breath before looking up at Draco who was now holding a single white and red mixed rose while looking not only extremely happy but nervous.
"Y/n that was amazing and you are amazing at performing. This is for you," he says as he extends the rose to you as you look at him smiling.
"Thank you Dray. It's beautiful," you say smiling as you look at the rose in your hand twirling it a bit.
"This is going to sound like one of those romance cliches you and Pansy talk about but," he says at you look at him slightly confused, "it's not as beautiful as you Y/n. Your playing and your voice. Well everything about you is beautiful and amazing. Ever since we went to the Yule ball as friends a part of me has wanted to tell you how I feel about you. If you will have me I will be yours," he says as he is looking at you with love and admiration in his eyes.
"Dray I like you too," you say as you put down your guitar and grab his hand. "I didn't know you liked me."
"Well what's there not to like. You are the only girl besides my mother who was able to put me in my place when it was needed. You are smart, kind, adventurous, and dare I say better than me at quidditch." Draco said smiling while holding your hand.
"Wait did you say I'm better at quidditch than thee Draco Lucious Malfoy?" Smirking as you tease him.
"I did but that's not the point," he sighed before continuing "Will you be my girlfriend, darling?" Draco at this point looked very nervous as he waited for your answer.
"Dray, I would love to be your girlfriend," you said as you hugged him.
"May I kiss you?" Draco said as he hugged you the one person who after all these years saw him for who he wanted to truly be.
"You may." As you looked up into those gray eyes of his before both of you leaning in to kiss.
The kiss was gentle and sweet, you wrapped your arms around his neck as he put his hand behind your head bringing you in closer. After a while you broke apart and just stared into each other's eyes.
"So I'm better than you at quidditch eh?" You said smiling as you wanted to tease him about admitting that someone was better than him.
"I shouldn't have said that, oh I'm regretting that part now," he said while smiling at you for you were the one thing in his life he would never regret.
Hopes for The Thunderbird & The Dragon
Chapter 1 - House of Ambition
Year 1 Part 1/4 I will try to keep each year to 3-5 parts. Once again if you wish to be tagged leave me a comment or DM me.🐍
Warnings: First-year prick attitude Draco. (self-explanatory) First-year Pansy Parkison (I know some people don't like her) Blood status.
Word count: 1.8k
Prologue
After the grand tour of Hogwarts, Professor McGonagall, and Headmaster Dumbledore took your family and the four students to his office for a private sorting hat ceremony. You remembered that the first years normally got sorted on the first night in front of the entire school but due to you being a transfer, you got a private one.
“Now if Ms. Whitlock, if you would kindly take a seat we can get you sorted into your house,” Dumbledore said as he pulled up a chair for you to sit down. As you sit on the dark brown chair you see your mother take hold of your father's hand in excitement which makes you smile a bit as Professor McGonagall puts the Sorting Hat on your head.
" Ah, a transfer from our friends at Ilvermorny eh?" the sorting hat said as it took a moment to think, "You could be like your mother and make Ravenclaw proud you surely have the thirst for knowledge," it said as your mother smiled brightly at you along with Robert Hilliard the prefect for Ravenclaw "Or perhaps you would do best in Slytherin. Their cunning ambition to achieve great things knows no bounds." As the Sorting hat said this you thought it over, you were always an ambitious child and did help your cousins make a band despite their reluctance.
"Ah, I see. Slytherin!" the hat said as Professor McGonagall took the hat offer waving her wand to have your plain Hogwarts uniform transfigured into Slytherin robes. "Congratulations Ms. Whitlock," she said as Gemma Farley and your parents approached you as you stood up.
"I shall show you to our common room and help you get settled, that is if you'll allow Professors," she said looking at Dumbledore and McGonagall.
"I think that's a good idea, Ms. Farley. I believe we will have Ms. Whitlock rooming with Ms. Parkison and Ms. Greengrass" Dumbledore said as he dismissed the three boys from the other houses.
"I'm so proud of you sweetie," your parents said as they brought you in for a group hug before handing back your wand to you before following Gemma to the Slytherin Common room.
Your wand, thirteen inches, maple wood, phoenix feather core, slightly springy. Despite living most of your life in America your mother insisted on getting your wand from Ollivander's in Diagon Alley. When you first picked your wand from the box it made the room almost shake. Mr. Ollivander said that it was a sign of great potential and one's power that goes beyond the wand, whatever that meant you had no idea.
As you made your way to your common room Lux walked next to you careful not to bump into other students who were staring at you, the new kid. You weren't bothered that much by their stares after all you had just arrived during the second week of classes. As you continued onward on the Grand Staircase, Gemma came to a stop allowing other students to make their way to different classes when a girl your age wearing Slytherin robes walked up to her.
"Gemma, I was told by the Bloody Barron that Daph and I would be getting our third roommate today, do you know what time that will happen?" said the girl with a short brown haircut.
"Word does travel fast when you have ghosts in Hogwarts," said Gemma as she motioned for you to step forward, "This Is Y/n Whitlock a transfer student from Ivermorny. She just arrived a few hours ago and got sorted into our house. Please show her to your room while I fill in her parents on a few matters," she said before walking over to your parents.
"So you are the new girl," Pansy said as her eyes lit up, "my name is Pansy Parkison one of your roommates, a pleasure to meet you," she said as she reached out her hand to shake. After shaking hands Pansy led you down the last set of many stairs to the dungeons just outside the Slytherin common room.
"Has McGonagall or Gemma told you the password to get in?" Pansy asked curiously. "I don't think they did," you said trying to remember if McGonagall, Dumbledore, or Gemma said anything about a password.
"I thought so," said a disappointed Pansy as she before walking up to the wall and said "Thestral" Once the word was spoken a snake for the floor curved up and made an archway that revealed a door. "Welcome to your new home," Pansy said as she took your hand and walked carefully down the spiral staircase that oddly enough had a small water fountain at the bottom of it.
"Oh wow" was all you could manage to say as you looked at the Slytherin common room. The stonework was incredible and the windows looking out into the bottom of the Black Lake were gorgeous. The rugs all over the stone floor gave the cool interior a home feel as the fireplace and couches looked so welcoming. You walked further in and saw the skylights of stained glass on the ceiling before looking around more and seeing all the display cases, tapestries, and living portraits. The common room was full of greens and grays giving it a cold look but you didn't mind much. You were under the Black Lake so the structural integrity was more important than if the common room was extremely homie.
Pansy chuckled as she walked up beside you. "It's quite amazing isn't it?" she looks around the room with you as your eyes land on the statue of Salazar Slytherin. "That's one of the founders Sal-"
"Salazar Slytherin, known for his determination and ambitious nature. Valued keeping magic to pureblooded families and left Hogwarts after a disagreement with the other founders about muggle-borns" you said as you looked up at the statue as you recount the history McGonagall told you during the tour. "Sorry that I cut you off Pansy."
"No no, it's fine. I'm just surprised you know some of the history" she said as she took your hand again and started walking towards one of the dorms on the girls' side. "Well, Professor McGonagall did give a detailed history of the castle during the tour with my parents. This place is full of so much history and stories of past adventures, it would be a shame not to explore and learn its secrets" you said as you picked up Lux as Pansy opened the dorm to your dorm room.
"You do have a point, " Pansy says as she walks into the dorm room "Welcome to our room!" she says happily as a girl with Blonde hair looks up from her desk surprised. "Daphne say hello to our new roommate."
"You must be Y/n Whitlock. The Bloody Baron told us that you were most likely going to be rooming with us." Daphne said as she walked over to you. "I'm Daphne Greengrass, we will be in most of the same classes along with Pansy," she says as she shakes your free hand. "And who is this sweet one?"
"This is Lux, my mom gave me her before we left," you say as Lux mews cutely as all three of you smile at the kneazle.
"I believe we should help get you unpacked," said Gemma from the doorway with your trunks and owl as she smiled at the sight of the three girls getting along.
*about 15-30 minutes later*
"I believe that's all of it," you say as you take your owl Ripley out of her cage to let her walk around the room a bit before dinner.
"So what is all this muggle stuff, I thought you were a pureblood," Pansy asked as she went through your stack of records both confused and curious.
"Well, my family has a deep love of music and that extends to the no-mugis aka muggles' music. We are a pureblood family though in America we try to see the no-magis or muggles as just people. My family does know the inherent "value" of blood purity but when it comes to certain things like music" you say as you get up and start flipping through your vinyls.
"I guess when you come from America the stance on muggles is different. My parents, however," Pansy says as she picks up an album by The Rolling Stones, "Don't care for anything Muggle-related, Can we put this one on?" she says holding the record out to you.
"Oh this is a good one and one of my father's favorites," you say putting the record on and adjusting the volume so it's not too loud. Daphne smiled softly as the room was filled with music she never heard before.
After an hour or two of sharing your favorite albums with the girls, it was just about time for dinner. As the three of you made your way to the Great Hall you let Ripley find her way to the Owlery by following the other owls flying overhead. As you made your way into the Great Hall you followed Pansy and Daphne and sat down with four other boys.
“And who are you I don’t remember you from the sorting ceremony,” said the blonde boy with grey eyes as he looked at you confused why you were sitting with his friends.
“I’m Y/n Whitlock, I just transferred from Ilvermorny and got sorted this morning. And you are,” you say as you look at the blonde as well as the three other boys.
“Malfoy. Draco Malfoy. These two are Crabbe and Goyle,” the two boys boys across from him nodded as Draco continued, “The quite one is Blaise Zabini” as Blaise looked up and smiled softly at you. “So Whitlock are you by chance related to Frederick Whitlock the new Chief Auror?” He said as he sounded a little excited. Everyone looked at you waiting for your response as being a pureblood meant that your family had wealth and some sway in the ministry but having your parents in important positions meant if anyone messed with you there would be consequences.
“That’s my dad yeah, he just got the promotion last week as well as my mum becoming the Head of the Department for the Control of Magical Creatures,” you said as you started to put some food on your plate as you smiled proudly at your parents’ achievements.
“My father was telling me about you folks, apparently your father is one of the best Aurors since Aesop Sharp and Theseus Scamander. Your father will be giving Mad Eye Moody some competition,” Draco said as the tone shifted from slightly uncomfortable to welcoming, “And your mum is practically set up to be the next Newt Scamander my father heard.”
“That’s my parents for ya. Always dreaming big and aiming for the stars,” you smiled before you started eating as the rest of dinner the group filled you in on what you missed the first week of classes as well as telling you about the Gryffindor trio that was the bane of Draco’s existence.
Hopes of The Thunderbird & The Dragon (Series) - Concept & Prologue
Draco Malfoy x F!Reader
Disclaimer: This is the first time I have written a whole series by myself, plus it's been a while since I wrote anything, let alone something for Draco Malfoy. This is a concept that has been in my head for a while and I haven’t seen anyone do something like it, well from at least what I’ve seen that is. I don’t see a lot about transfer students along with incorporating magical beasts. I plan on making this a long multi-part series that takes place through all 7 years at Hogwarts as well as a time skip.
Word count: 1.9k Pt1
Concept: I had been thinking about what if the reader was from America’s Wizarding School of Ilvermorny but was transferred to Hogwarts after their parents were transferred to the British division of the Ministry of Magic after a huge promotion. Father and Mother are Pure-bloods but they don’t particularly care, unlike other pure-blood families. Father has been working for the ministry for years after he graduated from Ilvermory and got a job as an Auror where he then met your mother who was working as an Investigative Assistant of Magical Beast Activity for the UK Branch. Your father Frederick Whitlock, the New Chief Auror in the London Ministry Office, and your mother Katherine Pierce-Whitlock, the New Head of the Department for the Control of Magical Creatures have decided that it would be best to have you transferred to your mother’s alma mater, Hogwarts. Being a proud graduate herself, she is overjoyed when she receives a letter from Dumbledore that you are allowed to transfer from Ilvermory during the second week of the semester. Y/n Whitlock has always loved to bring the joy of music wherever she went but what happens when the Slytherin Common Room becomes your escape. Y/n becomes friends with many people at Hogwarts along with gravitating towards a certain blonde boy as their friendship develops into something more over the years. Even with the growing darkness that seems to make its way into the halls of Hogwarts, there is always a way through with compassion and acceptance.
Tigger warnings: Pureblood. I think that's it.
.
Y/n paced around her new room in her parents' house as her mind raced about all the wonderful and nerve-wracking things to come at her new school, Hogwarts. From as early as she could remember, her father told her all the amazing stories about his alma mater, Ilvermory. Your father recalled how during the sorting ceremony, the older students would watch from the balcony on the next level, looking down with anticipation as the first years got sorted. The school would then wait for one of the four wooden creature carvings, which represent four houses, to react. When the Horned Serpent wanted a student, the gem set into its forehead would glow, while Thunderbird showed approval by beating its wings. The Wampus would roar, while the Pukwudgie raised its arrow into the air. The way your father described it was so magical that you could barely wait to get there to see it for yourself, and join your father’s house of Thunderbird. You had your wish for as your first week had gone almost perfectly, you were sorted into Thunderbird and made a few friends. But all that changed when you got a letter from your parents a few days later saying that due to their promotions in the ministry, you’d be transferring to Hogwarts within the next two days. Needless to say, you were heartbroken. You had just gotten here and now you were leaving them.
Flash Back to 2 days ago
“I love my parents Rebecca but why can’t I just stay here and live with my aunt or you?” Y/n said as she talked with her best friend and roommate, Rebecca Madison, a short, brown-eyed, black-haired girl who had been your best friend since diapers. “Because your aunt is already busy enough managing your cousins and that little band of theirs. My parents can barely handle us when you come to visit. Just imagine what it would be like with you living here?” she replied as she giggled. “And besides Merlin went to Hogwarts. How cool is it that you’d be going to the same school that is home to many powerful witches and wizards like him.” Rebecca said as she played with her white and tan cat, Cinnamon, on her bed.  “You have a point Becky but we just got here.” You pouted as you fell back onto your bed. This was quite possibly the worst thing that’s ever happened, and if your cousins didn’t start their band then you could be living with them. Despite your current situation, you were actually the one who convinced them to start a band.  Christopher, Sarah, and Patricia were some of the most musically gifted in your family on your Father's side, other than yourself and dear old Dad. You've been planning music with them for as long as you could remember. Who knew that love for music that somehow backfired on your dreams of attending Ilvermory. “I know, that’s why I’m your bestie.” Rebecca says as she stands up and walks over to your bed while smiling, “Now you are going to write letters to me about the wonders of Hogwarts and we’ll see each other like we always do over the breaks.” All you could do was smile as you sat up facing your friend. “Time to start packing I guess,” you said as Rebecca smiled and extended her hand for you to take. “Let the packing competition begin!”
End of Flashback
“Y/n darling, your father is waiting in the carriage but I have something to give you first,” your mother says as she slowly opens the door holding a medium-sized cage with a cloth over it.
“I wanted to surprise you with a little friend to keep you company at Hogwarts. I already got approval from Professor McGonagall though this creature is technically allowed, ‘better to be safe than sorry’ your father says” as she sets the cage down taking off the cloth to reveal a gray and black with emerald eyes Kneazle.
“Mom, they are beautiful. What’s their name?”  Kneeling down to let the creature sniff your hand and get familiar with you while smiling.
“Her name is Lux. Her mother is one of the Kneazles I was nursing back to health had a litter a few weeks ago. Plus I thought Ripley would like a friend when you are in class. You take care of them-” your mother says while smiling. “And they’ll take care of you,” you say as Lux mews cutely at you while you gently take her out of the cage and let Ripley your owl inspect her new furry friend.
“Let’s not keep your father waiting Y/n darling, Hogwarts awaits.” You look at your mother as she is proud and excited for your first year at Hogwarts as you take her hand and make your way to the carriage. On the way to Hogwarts you thought about the professors your mother told stories about, the dangers she warned you about hidden in the forbidden forest, how that next year she hopes you could play quidditch like she did for Ravenclaw, and that no matter which house you were placed in she would be beyond proud of you.
Your parents have always wanted you, their pride and joy, to be kind and make your own opinions of those around you. Even though they came from Pureblood families your parents never understood the way most Purebloods thought, it always seemed so backward to parade around blood status like it was a huge accomplishment not marrying a person with muggle blood. So your parents did what other Purebloods would most likely hate, raise you around the culture of both the wizarding and muggle worlds. As you sat in the carriage for the couple-hour journey it would take to get to Hogwarts your father tapped you on the shoulder taking you out of your thoughts.
“I know your mom already gave you little Lux but I also have something for you,” he says as he hands you a medium-sized wrapped box.
“Dad, you didn’t have to get me anything but thank you” nudging your father as you unwrap the present you see a Walkman with several different albums on cassettes.
“It’s a Walkman, I know we already packed up your record player and your guitar but I figured you’d want to listen to music while walking around the grounds after class. Plus we’ll send you your favorite bands' new albums while you’re at school.” Nudging you just as you did a moment ago while chuckling.
“You sure do think of everything, don’t you Dad?” Smiling as you took out the Walkman and pulled out Journey's Greatest Hits album your father smiled with pride as he thought about all the new friends you’d make.
The hours passed by quickly with you listening to music and talking with your parents about all the different legends and secrets that Hogwarts held. It wasn’t until your house elf Winter opened the door that you all realized you had arrived at Hogwarts Bridge.
“We have arrived,” Winter said as she smiled brightly as she looked at the youngest Whitlock.
You take a deep breath and stepped out of the carriage and take in your surroundings. You had visited Scotland before on family trips but the Hogwarts Castle and the Great Lake were certainly spectacular. As you took in your surroundings an older-looking woman approached with an older gentleman which you assumed were Headmaster Dumbledore and Professor McGonagall along with four students you didn’t recognize, three boys and one girl, dressed in school robes one each house color you assumed.
“Katherine Pierce-Whitlock welcome back to Hogwarts dear,” Professor McGonagall said as she hugged your mother, “Now I know that this is a big change for your daughter Katherine. I can assure you and your husband that Y/n is in good hands.”
“Now let's give them a tour shall we,” Professor Dumbledore says as he motions the four students to come over and introduce themselves.
“Good afternoon, I’m Gabriel Truman, one of the prefects of Hufflepuff.” Said the tall brown-haired boy wearing a yellow and black robe before stepping back in line as a ginger boy around his height stepped forward.
“Hello my name is Percy Weasley, I am one of the Gryffindor prefects. I believe my mother went to school with yours.” He says as he looks over at your mother who smiles at the Weasley boy before he steps back in line for the boy in blue to speak.
“Ello Whitlocks, my name is Robert Hilliard, one of the prefects of Ravenclaw. It is a pleasure to see that the famous Blue Devil had a daughter. Your mother was a force to be reckoned with. Hopefully, you are just as good as your mother at quidditch” he smiles before saying quietly “And a Ravenclaw” The Scottish boy happily steps back to let the girl in Green robes step forward.
“Welcome to Hogwarts Y/n, I’m Gemma Farley, one of the prefects of Slytherin house. We are excited to have you here.” The blonde girl says as she hands you a bouquet of flowers from the four houses, “I do hope that you enjoy your time here” smiling as she steps back and lets Professor Dumbledore talk.
“Now that introductions are out of the way I do believe we can give you a proper tour of the castle while the students are at lunch. Wouldn’t you agree, Minerva?” Dumbledore asked as Professor McGonagall nodded and led the way with Dumbledore by her side, the students and your family not too far behind.
“Hogwarts was founded over a thousand years ago by the four greatest witches and wizards of the age. Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw, and Salazar Slytherin'' she began as you walked across the bridge seeing a few Hippogriffs fly overhead, thinking you could get used to being here.
Apologies for the delay of the concept and prologue for 'Hopes of the Thunderbird and The Dragon". This fic is taking most of my free time as I have asked a friend to proofread it for me. I am also doing my best to make sure I have all the facts and everything is correct. I'm kinda a little bit obsessed with making it perfect.
Hopes for The Thunderbird & The Dragon
Started working on my first series yesterday and wanted to put some feelers out to see if anyone would actually read it. So I'm doing an accurate/somewhat accurate to the 1990's when Harry Potter takes place Draco Malfoy x female reader. I am making the reader a lover of music who knows how to play guitar and piano as well as sing. It's gonna be a friendship to lover situation with twists and turns, roadblocks and chaos. It's been a concept I've had in my head for several years as I daydreamer at work or in class. If you want to be on the tag list for this fic let me know.
The concept & prologue will be released later this Halloween day. Stay spooky.
Adorable!
Hii can I request a Draco x female reader in where Draco is crushing on reader but reader is oblivious and dense?<33
Thank you for your request! I´m finally back from my vacation (it hasn´t been long enough by any means) and need to get back into writing again now, so I really hope this turned out alright. But basically, these are about 7k words of Draco simping for the reader (maybe a bit too much to actually be in his character). However it was really fun to write, so I hope you´ll enjoy reading.
Clueless
Draco´s head snapped around when he heard a familiar giggle only a few meters away from him. The Professor standing in front of the class long forgotten, he watched with widened eyes, how you nudged Pansy playfully, before the Slytherin girl whispered something into your ear, making you burst into laughter once more. Quickly, you brought a hand to your mouth, trying to stifle the sounds threatening to escape it. Once you had somewhat managed to calm down again, you straightened your back and took a deep breath, before you leant over to Pansy, apparently wanting to answer whatever she had just told you, but when your gaze caught something in front of you, you seemed to change your mind, because instead, you grabbed the quill that until now had been lying on your table uselessly and scribbled something on a piece of parchment, before you lowered your head, looking into the book in front of you. Draco watched in awe how you brought the tip of your quill to your lips as you got lost in the text you were reading. Even though he couldn’t be sure over the distance between the two of you, Draco strongly suspected, that by now there would be a faint stain of ink smudged over your lips. You narrowed your eyes, bringing your head even closer to the book, seemingly coming to a part of the text that was harder to understand than the one before. Or maybe just harder to decipher. The ink in the old books you were working with was from time to time almost fainted, and the curved font itself was already hard enough to read. But regardless of what had caused the shift in your posture, it made some strands of hair fall into your face. But while Draco couldn’t help but admire how perfectly they framed the shape of your face, only stressing your most beautiful – so pretty much every single one of your – features, you didn’t even seem to notice, too lost in the world of the book you were currently working with. Just like Draco got lost in you. Oh, how much he wanted to brush that hair out of your face, taking in every single detail of it, while he would twirl those strands of hair around his fingers. And he could brush away the ink that would stain your pretty lips with his thump tenderly or he could just press his lips on yours so it would faint just as well and then he would…
“Very well, Mr. Malfoy, since apparently you have already finished your task, would you mind sharing your results with the rest of the class?”
Draco snapped out of his trance and blinked up in irritation. Professor McGonagall was standing in front of him, looking at him with narrowed eyes, her lips pursed. Slowly, the Slytherin began to fade back into the world surrounding him. Because unlike it had felt for him only seconds ago, it wasn’t just you and him in this room, but instead, the entire transfiguration class, including the Professor. And every single one of those people was now looking at him. Draco felt their eyes lingering on him and cursed himself. How could he have been so stupid to let himself get distracted that easily simply by how absolutely effortlessly beautiful you looked? But now he would have to face the consequences. He glared up at the Professor, trying to give his face a humble look.
“Excuse me, Professor, but I´m not finished yet.”
“It looks more like you haven’t even started.”, Professor McGonagall returned with a disapproving look at his empty parchment.
“I was still reading. I´ll start the essay soon.”, Draco promised, trying to prevent his face from heating up.
“Well, I suggest next time you will open the book to do so.”
He heard his classmates snickering in the background. Draco clenched his jaw and had to try his hardest to not take an issue with Professor McGonagall. He knew this would only make things worse. If that was even possible right now. Because after all, he was not only being humiliated in front of the entire class but also you. And that was something Draco didn’t even dare to think about.
“At the end of the lesson I expect an entire role of parchment on my desk from you, Mr. Malfoy.”, the Professor spoke up again. “And if you won´t be able to finish it today, you will hand it in tomorrow. Is that clear?”
Draco nodded slowly, teeth gritted. Professor McGonagall knew very well that it was sheer impossible to finish the essay in this lesson and that this afternoon, Draco would have to be at the pitch for some Quidditch practice. He was certain that if he would have been one of the Professor´s precious Gryffindors, especially one of those of the Quidditch team, she wouldn’t have been that hard on him. He was sure of that. Still, he knew he wouldn’t win this argument, so he kept his mouth shut.
Professor McGonagall nodded.
“Very well then.”, she said, before turning around, shifting her focus to his classmates again.
Draco let out a small sigh, before letting his gaze wander around the classroom. He could see some of the Gryffindors shooting him some gleeful glances, but Draco just ignored them. It wasn’t until his gaze settled on you, that his haughty façade started to crumble. Because the moment his gaze settled on you, you looked up from your book as well, your gaze meeting his. Draco´s heart got stuck in his throat as you threw the boy a small compassionate smile, before breaking the eye contact and focusing on the book in front of you again.
Draco´s heart was pumping so loud in his ears that he feared you might hear it on the other side of the classroom, but you didn’t look up again. Still, just those few seconds Draco had been in your orbit, made the boy forget why he had been so upset only minutes ago. The Slytherin couldn’t help the small smile that made it to his face. Maybe all the trouble in this lesson had been worth it after all.
And when Draco heard Blaise´s amused voice mutter beside him: “You´ve got it bad, man.”, he couldn’t even argue with it.
Later that day you were sitting in the common room with Pansy, chatting about all the world and his wife. At some point, Draco´s strange behaviour earlier that day came up as well. But while Pansy was snickering over how absolutely dumbfounded Draco had looked when Professor McGonagall had pointed out that the boy hadn’t even opened the book he had claimed to read, you rather felt sorry for the fellow Slytherin.
“Don’t be so hard on him, Pansy, I´m sure there was a reason that he was so distracted in that lesson.”
“So? If we all wouldn’t have to work just because we have a reason not to do so, I wouldn´t be present in half of the classes.”
“Oh please, what good reason would you have to miss our lessons?”
“They bore me.”, Pansy sighed out dramatically. “And the people annoy me.”
“Even though I totally understand, I´m rather sure that this is not a valid reason.”, you giggled.
“And what do you think Draco´s oh-so-mysterious, understandable and totally important excuse was?”
You shrugged your shoulders. Because even though Draco and you already knew each other for several years and you were rather close – at least by Draco´s standards – and you were quite curious about what had been on the boy´s mind earlier, you had absolutely no idea what could have distracted him that much that he would forget absolutely everything around him.
“You really have no idea?”, Pansy asked, as she glanced at you, looking almost irritated. “Absolutely none?”
“Do you?”, you responded.
Now it was on Pansy to shrug her shoulders, while her gaze dropped down to her lap, and she started fiddling with her hands.
“But regardless of that,”, you continued, not even noticing how Pansy relaxed next to you when you dropped the topic, “I think McGonagall was too hard on him. I mean, we all zone out from time to time, don´t we? And she really didn’t need to give him that much of extra work. That´s just unfair. Especially because she knows for sure that Draco has training today. If she already wants to give him some extra work, she could at least have given him some more time, don’t you think?”
But before Pansy could open her mouth to agree with you, the door opened, and a rather annoyed-looking Draco entered the common room. The frown he held on his face, however, softened immediately, the second he spotted Pansy and you sitting on one of the couches. Quickly, he made his way over to you - not without barking at some first years, standing in his way – and let himself fall on the couch as well, directly next to you.
“For real? In your jersey?”, you frowned. Not that you actually had something against the blond boy wearing his Quidditch uniform, that looked unfairly good on him, actually it was quite the opposite, but the last thing you needed today was some mud smudged over the couches and – due to the fact Draco had by now wrapped an arm around your shoulder – also all over your clothes.
But Draco only gave you a smug grin.
“Relax, love. I already showered and put on a new one. Only for you obviously. I know how much you like to see me in it.”, he winked.
You cursed the moment you had admitted to the blond boy in a moment of weakness that you actually thought that he looked rather good in his jersey. This, however, had been in your second year at Hogwarts, when Draco had joined the team and had been really nervous about his first actual game. And even though you had only said it back then to calm him down – and because it was the truth after all – until this very day, several years later, Draco still loved to remind you of the fact that you had called him handsome back then at every chance.
“If you say so.”, you grumbled.
Still, you finally relaxed into his arms and shuffled a bit closer. You had to actively keep yourself from inhaling his scent deeply. You simply adored it. For you, it felt like home. Simple as that.
“I guess that´s my call.”, Pansy grinned, as she got on her feet. “Enjoy your time, you two.”
You looked at your friend with narrowed eyes.
“Why you wanna leave? We still got some time before dinner.”
“Yeah, but I really don’t want to disturb the two of you.”, she winked.
“You know you could never disturb us, Pansy.”, you laughed, while Draco muttered something incomprehensible under his breath.
“Also, I am very sure that Blaise needs my help with… something. See you around.”
And with that, Pansy disappeared quickly, leaving Draco and you behind.
“That was strange, wasn’t it?”, you asked the boy next to you, who just shrugged his shoulders in response.
“It´s Pansy. What did you expect?”
You nudged him.
“Careful, that´s my friend you´re talking about. And yours too, by the way.”
“And that´s exactly why I´m allowed to say this. But even when it comes to my so-called friends, I´m thankful for every second that I´m able to steal you from them and have you all for myself.”
You felt the familiar blush creeping onto your cheeks that always appeared whenever Draco made some snarky remarks that could make you suspect that after all, you were something special to him. Just like he was to you. And that bastard was fully aware of the effect he had on you and used it to tease you endlessly about it. Just like he did now. And the only way you knew to answer this was with a just as big smirk as he always held on his face when he told you those things.
“Of course you do. Everyone does. I´m just adorable.”, you said, puffing your chest as much as it was possible now that you were trapped in Draco´s arms.
Said boy just sighed and placed a small kiss on the crown of your head, making you shiver.
“Oh, you have no idea, love.”
But just as you wanted to melt into Draco´s embrace, you felt him tense next to you and curse under his breath.
You sat up again slightly and turned your head to look at him.
“What is it?”
“Nothing.”, Draco sighed, but the lines of worries showed you differently. “Just that stupid homework from McGonagall. I still have to write almost half a role.” He let out another sigh before he pulled you close again. “But that can wait. Right now, I´m exactly where I want to be.”
Even though his words flattered you, you wiggled out of his arms and sat up straight.
“You might be where you want to be but not where you are supposed to. That woman will let you serve detention until the end of the year if you don´t hand in that essay until tomorrow. And I certainly won´t let you pull an all-nighter.”
“This is going to be an all-nighter anyway, love.”, Draco contradicted, but you shook your head in response.
“Not if I´ll help you.”
“(Y/n), no. You don’t have to.”
“But I want to.”, you pouted.
Draco let out a small laugh.
“Oh please! Nobody wants to work on Transfiguration voluntarily.”
“See what I´m willing to do just to spend some more time with you?”, you winked. “Now, c´mon. If we go to the library now we´ll still be able to work for an hour until dinner.”
And if you wouldn’t have been so determined to help Draco out and wouldn’t have strode away with long steps without even waiting for a response, you would have seen how Draco blushed vigorously at your words, justifying that he let you help him not with the fact that he was desperate to spend some more time with you, but reasoning that somehow this extra homework was your fault after all.
You had been wrong. Until it was time for dinner, several centimetres of the parchment were still empty, the blank space promising an all-nighter after all. Even though you might had even been able to finish the task completely, if it wouldn’t have been for Draco getting distracted by the very same thing that had gotten him into sitting here in the first place. Because just as it had been back in class, also here, in the dim light of the candles flickering on the walls, the Slytherin couldn’t help but notice how absolutely perfect you were. And because of that, the quill in Draco´s hand was hovering uselessly over the parchment most of the time, while its owner was busy staring at you, while you flicked through the pages of some books, providing Draco with some information you considered as potentially useful. Unfortunately, most of the words you were saying weren’t even processed by Draco´s mind. No, he was too busy staring at the movement of your lips when you spoke, the way your eyes mirrored the glimmering of the candlelight around you, the slight frown you held on your face when you tried to filter the most important information from the books in front of you, the way your fingers caressed the pages of the old books tenderly and how you…
“Draco? Draco are you even listening?”
The boy let out a quiet groan. Apparently, everything that could go wrong today would also proceed to do so. Because how should he explain to you that while you did your best to help him and sacrifice your free time to do so, he acted ungrateful and didn’t even listen to you without giving away the reason he simply couldn’t concentrate on anything at all as long as you were in the same room as him?
Draco ran a hand over his face before he nodded.
“Of course I am. Go ahead.”
But instead of doing so, you leaned back in your chair and eyed your friend closely.
“It was a tough day for you, wasn’t it?”, you asked, your voice sounding so much more compassionate than Draco thought he deserved.
And while with everyone else, Draco would have firmly denied that he had bad days at all, or would have blamed everyone else but him for everything that had gone wrong today, when it came to you, he simply couldn’t bring himself to argue. So instead, he just shrugged his shoulders in defeat.
But before you could answer, a boy walked up to your table, letting himself fall onto the chair next to you.
“Here you are.”, the Slytherin said, eyes fixed on Draco before he turned around to you. “Fancy to see you too, (Y/n).”
You smiled at him.
“Likewise, Adrian.”
Adrian Pucey mirrored your smile before his attention shifted to Draco again.
“Flint asked me to look for you. After the training today was… expendable, he wants us to meet up after dinner once more to talk about our tactic. At the pitch at nine.”
You saw the indecisiveness in Draco´s eyes as they flickered in between the parchment in front of him, still waiting to get filled by the words he so desperately needed to put down, and the older Slytherin. You knew Draco well enough to know that the boy was fully aware of where he had to set his priorities today, yet you also knew that he most likely wouldn’t dare to contradict Adrian and therefore Marcus Flint, who happened to be the Quidditch captain, himself.
So before Draco could even open his mouth, you quickly stepped in.
“Draco can´t join you tonight.”
The two boys looked at you with irritation, even though you liked to think that Draco looked also thankful at your words.
Adrian raised an eyebrow questioningly.
“So the two of you finally managed to get your act together and go on a date?”, he asked with a cheeky grin. “I´m sorry, (Y/n), but I´m afraid Marcus won´t let this slide as an excuse. Even if it´s a pretty girl like you.”
You let out a small laugh.
“Charming, Adrian, but Draco and I actually have a date tonight.” If you would have paid more attention to Draco than his teammate at that moment, you would have seen how the boy tensed in his chair, trying to hide all the emotion in his eyes at the mere thought of the two of you finally being together in a way, he had always wanted you to be. However, your gaze was fixed on Adrian, as you added: “Just the two of us and a dozen Transfiguration books. I guess you heard what Professor McGonagall did today?”
Adrian nodded, looking at Draco compassionately.
“And there´s no way you can delay the deadline?”
“Not if we want to make sure that dragon won´t let me serve detention during our next game against Gryffindor.”, Draco spit out through gritted teeth. “I bet she´s only been waiting for a chance like this.”
Adrian sighed in defeat.
“Screw it, we can´t risk that. And Flint´s gonna think the same. I´ll talk to him. Maybe you can meet up tomorrow before the next training to give you a summary. But for now, I´ll leave you alone so you can continue this.” He gestured at the books splattered on the table in front of you before he stood up. “Good luck with this. And (Y/n),” He turned around to you, a playful smirk playing around his lips. “Since what Draco and you are doing here is for strictly academic reasons, does that mean I still stand a chance?”
You couldn’t help the blush that crept on your cheeks at his words. It wasn’t like you were actually interested in the older boy, not at all, and you highly doubted that Adrian´s words were anything but a tease, still, his words flattered you.
“Keep on dreaming, Pucey.”, you giggled, not quite able to look him into the eyes, as you were still focused on trying to hide your blush.
“Maybe I will.”, he winked.
But before he could add something, Draco interrupted him.
“Now get lost, Pucey! We still got work to do.”, he barked, his eyes shimmering coldly as he stared at your housemate.
Adrian raised his hands in defence.
“Don´t worry. I´m already gone. She´s all yours.”, he said, before he actually turned around and walked away, leaving Draco and you finally alone again.
When the boy was gone, you slammed the book in front of you shut with a heavy sigh.
“I think we should leave it for now as well. We can continue after dinner in the common room. But now I need something to eat. And I think you do too.”
You looked at the Slytherin sitting on the other side of the table in expectation of a response, but it seemed like Draco hadn’t even heard what you had been saying. Blankly, he stared at the spot Adrien had stood only moments ago, with an intelligible expression on his face.
“Draco? Draco, did you hear me?”, you asked, your eyes flickering between the Slytherin and the blank spot next to you.
“Why did he say this?”, Draco suddenly asked, not even answering your question.
You narrowed your eyes in confusion.
“Who said what?”
“Pucey. This thing about standing a chance with you. Why did he say that?”
You let out an uncertain laugh, not sure why Draco was bringing this up now.
“I don´t know. He was just joking I guess.”, you shrugged.
Draco nodded, still not looking at you.
“Is there something going on between the two of you?”
The laugh that escaped you now, was genuine.
“Adrian and me? Salazar no! Why would you think that?”
“But you get along great, don´t you?”, Draco pressed.
“Yeah. Yeah, I suppose so. I wouldn’t say we are close or anything, but he´s nice. I like him.”
Finally, Draco tore his gaze apart from the blank spot and instead looked at you. You shifted uncomfortably in your seat as his grey eyes raked yours, nothing in his face giving away what he was thinking.
“You like him?”, he spat, stressing the second word as if it was something nasty lying on his tongue.
“Why are you so surprised about it? I mean, he´s everything a Slytherin is supposed to be. Smart and cunning. Plus, he´s a great Quidditch player and he´s actually quite nice, isn’t he?”
“So? Aren´t I all of those things too?”
There it was. After all, his strange behaviour could be once more explained by his pride. Obviously, Draco was all these things as well. Hell, he was so much more than this. And you loved every single part of him. However, his behaviour was from time to time rather… challenging. But you didn’t mind the slightest. Because, unlike many other people, you knew how to deal with it.
You smiled at the boy calmingly.
“Obviously you are. And that is why I like you as well. Well, at least to name a few things.”
Something in Draco´s eyes changed, his anger seemed to subside and made place for something else. Yet, once again, you weren’t quite sure how to read it. Because while Draco seemed to be soothed by your words, there was also a sadness lingering behind the small smile he threw you.
“So, that´s all there is?”, he asked.
You nodded.
“That´s all there is. No earth-shattering friendship. And “, you added after a moment of hesitation, “Also nothing else. No romantic interest or whatever you have been trying to imply.”
“I didn’t imply anything. That´s what you were construing, love.”, Draco answered, with a sly grin on his face, but you noticed how he visibly relaxed into his chair again. A reaction, that made your heart flutter in your chest, just as the stupid nickname he called you from time to time.
But before you could think about any potential deeper meaning behind his words, Draco stood up from his chair and stretched his stiff limbs, a view that made a small sigh leave your lips involuntarily.
“We should really leave for dinner now, don’t you think? I´m already starving.”
“Sure. Great idea, Draco. Why didn’t I think of that?”, you smiled, trying to fight the ironic undertone in your voice. You didn’t quite manage to, but Draco didn’t seem to notice, with his wand he already conducting all the books to their firm places.
“That´s what I´m here for. Always happy to help you, love.”
“What would I only do without you?”, you sighed dramatically.
“Your life would definitely be so much more miserable.”
“Well, I´m afraid I can never allow you to walk out of my life then.”, you smiled at him.
“As if I ever wanted you to.”, Draco muttered under his breath. Only a faint sound in your ears, like the whispering of the wind, and you weren’t quite sure if you had just imagined it. You just really hoped you didn’t.
After dinner, Draco and you were finally able to work on his essay effectively. This was mainly due to the fact that Draco strictly forbade himself to even look at you once until he would have finished the last stroke of his quill.
It was almost midnight when Draco finally set the last dot, ending exactly at the end of the final line. He dropped the quill next to the parchment and leant back in his chair with a heavy sigh.
“And McGonagall really thought this would be a challenge for me. I bet that crazy cat lady was only hoping I would fail so she could get me to serve detention for the rest of the year. But I´m a Malfoy after all. It takes more than a stupid essay to get me down. Don´t you think so too, (Y/n)?”
When you didn’t answer, Draco glanced to the side, where you were sitting. Even when Draco was done with the research you had helped him out with and only had to write the conclusion and had offered you that you could already go to bed, you had refused to do so, suggesting you could proofread the essay after he was done. And even though Draco had assured you that you didn’t have to and if you really wanted to, you could also do so the next morning, you had told him with a shrug of your shoulders that you would wait for him anyway. You were rather sure that you couldn’t fall asleep knowing that while you were lying in your cosy bed, Draco was still up and working on his homework. And that´s what you had told him too, even though you had had to suppress a yawn when you did so.
But now that Draco looked at you, he realized that for once in your life, you had actually been wrong. You could easily fall asleep while he was still working. Because here you were, proofing yourself wrong. A small smile crept on Draco´s lips as he watched you, your head bedded on your arms that you had crossed over the last book you had been reading. You faced Draco, but your eyes were closed, your lips slightly parted, as you breathed steadily. The boy felt a wave of affection washing over him, as he saw you sound asleep like this. Because even though you hadn’t stayed awake like you had promised, you had stayed with him. You had rather fought the sleep by his side until you had eventually lost the battle, than returning to your dorm, leaving him alone. And after all; how could he feel anything else but adoration when you were looking so perfect, even in your sleep. So beautiful and carefree, making Draco believe that even with all the bad things happening in this world, everything would turn out just fine, as long as you would just exist?
He could have sat there all night, watching you sleep, but eventually, the thought settled in, that if you would stay like this for hours, in a probably rather uncomfortable position, your shoulders crouched and your neck twisted, you would wake up in the morning with stiff limbs and probably in pain. And that was something he couldn’t bear to see. Not after everything that you had done for him today. Quickly, Draco considered his possibilities. He couldn’t leave you like this, especially not all by yourself, but he also couldn’t get you to your dorm, since if he would try carrying you up the stairs, he would probably fall and break both of your necks. The Slytherin´s gaze wandered through the by now completely abandoned common room, until it settled on one of the couches. It surely wasn’t perfect, not good enough for you, but it would do for a night.
Draco made his way through the room to the couch, fluffing up the pillows and got the cosiest blanket ready, before he walked back to you. Careful and anxious to wake you up, Draco picked you up, freezing when you slightly shifted in his arms, but you only let out a small sigh, before you melted into his touch, not opening your eyes once.
Finally, Draco reached the couch, laying you down, loosening the tie that you were still wearing around your neck in accordance with the dress code and tucking you in. When he had made sure that you were as comfortable as possible, Draco stopped in his tracks for a second to take in the sight of you. Carefully, he brushed some strands of your hair out of your face, having to resist the urge to press a kiss on your temple.
“Sweet dreams, love.”, he mumbled, before he went to one of the armchairs nearby, and sat down as well. He wouldn’t leave you alone tonight, not only because he just couldn’t bring himself to leave you yet, wanting to be in your presence for as long as possible, but also because he couldn’t bear the thought that you wake up, alone and irritated, confused on how you had gotten there, being all by yourself. No, Draco would be there when you would wake up. He would always be there for you, no matter what. That was the last thought on Draco´s mind before he slowly drifted off into sleep as well, the image of you sleeping angelically on the couch still in sight, even when his eyes were already closed.
When you woke up, you needed a moment to orientate yourself. Only when your eyes got used to the dim light surrounding you, you realised that you were not in your bed, but in the common room. Slowly, the memories of the last evening started to set in. But some parts were missing. You still remembered how you had been sitting at one of the desks with Draco and waiting for him to finish his essay. At some point, your eyes had gotten more and more heavy, but you had refused to close them. You were rather sure that at some point you had failed and fallen asleep.
This however didn’t explain why right now, you were lying on one of the couches, covered with a blanket, while the fire in the fireplace had almost burned down, the only source of light being the embers, still gleaming inside. You sat up and rubbed your eyes, before letting your gaze wander around the room. That´s when it settled on a figure sunken down in one of the armchairs not far away from you, their blond hair reflecting the shimmer of the ember.
You felt the warmth flushing through your body as you watched Draco sitting there, his head resting in one of his hands, a small frown on his face, even though he was sleeping. By now you could somewhat imagine what had happened after you had fallen asleep and the mere thought of Draco taking care of you, making sure you were comfortable, before he passed out in the chair himself, exhausted from the hard and long day, made your heart beating faster in a way only Draco could do. If that boy only knew what his random acts of kindness did to you.
But as you were watching him, mesmerized by the view and lost in your thoughts, arguing with yourself whether you should wake him up so Draco could actually get to bed or just let him sleep where he was right now, the boy stirred in his sleep, before slowly opening his eyes, and straightening up in his chair with a yawn.
“Morning, sleepyhead.”, you smiled, and Draco´s head spun around, the confused look on his face giving place to a grin.
“Says you, love. An entire herd of trolls could have clumped through the room and you would have still slept like a baby.”
“Can you blame me?”, you yawned.
Draco shook his head, still smiling.
“Not at all. But that´s why you should really go to bed now. We need to get at least some hours of sleep.”
With a heavy sigh, you let yourself fall back onto the couch and looked at Draco with puppy eyes.
“But I´m so comfy right now.”
The Slytherin arched an eyebrow.
“More comfortable than your bed?”
“Warmer. And also,”, you cuddled yourself deeper into the blanket, “You are here.”
Oh, if you only knew what your words did to the poor boy´s heart. But instead of telling you, Draco only grinned cockily at you.
“But maybe I want to go to bed.”
“Or you could just join me here.”, you teased him even though you made your voice sound as innocent as possible before you added in a more serious voice: “Unless you actually want to leave. I get it. It was a long day and if you want to go to bed…”
But you hadn’t even finished the sentence before Draco stood up and walked up to you with long strides. Lucky for him, you didn’t even notice how wobbly his legs felt when he walked up to you, praying he wouldn’t stumble over his own feed, and how relieved he was when he finally sat down next to you. You huddled closer to Draco, who wrapped an arm around you and sighed.
“You know I just can´t turn you down, no matter what you ask from me, don´t you?”
You felt your cheeks heating.
“You´re just too good for me, Draco.”, you smiled.
And you meant it. You knew over all Draco surely wasn’t what people would describe as the good guy, but to you, he was just perfect. And the way he treated you was so much more than you could ever ask for. If you only knew what you did to deserve it.
“There´s nothing as too good when it comes to you, love.”, the Slytherin smiled, before placing a small kiss on the crown of your head, making chills run down your spine.
“No, I mean it. You are. You are perfect in every way. And I have absolutely no idea why you are doing all of this for me.”
A low chuckle rumbled in Draco´s chest.
“You really are that clueless, aren’t you?”
You sat up a bit straighter to look at Draco properly. There was amusement shimmering in his eyes, that were otherwise filled with so much adoration that it made you forget everything else around you. You narrowed your eyes, as you scanned his delicate features.
“Care to enlighten me then?”
If it wasn’t for your own blood swooshing in your ears, you would have probably heard Draco´s heart beating so strong he was afraid it might just jump out of his chest any second.
“Think about it, love.” He stressed the nickname in a way he had never done before. It had always rolled from his tongue so easily, but this time its weight was lying heavily on you. “For what reason do you think I am doing all of this?” Your breath got stuck in your throat as Draco raised his hand, his thumb brushing over your cheek, before he tucked some strands of hair behind your ear, his hand coming to a halt there, fingers tangled in your hair. “For what reason do you think I always want to be near you?” His gaze flickered over your face, scanning all your different features closely, as if he wanted to memorize them forever. “For what reason do you think I get so distracted in a goddamn class by how absolutely beautiful you are that I´m not even able to do my work and even when I have to face the consequences I still rather spend my time looking at you and listening to your voice than dealing with it, even if this will only get me into more trouble?” Was that what had happened? Had Draco actually been so distracted by your sheer existence that he just couldn’t bring himself to care about the class anymore? “And why do you think I got so upset when fucking Pucey had nothing better to do than flirt with you when all I wanted was to spend some time with you?” Draco let out a shaky laugh. “Do you have any idea how hard it was not to hex him then and there? Because trust me, it was one of the hardest things I ever had to do. Maybe the only thing harder than this…” His eyes finally came to a halt, meeting yours, so you could see all the raw emotions lying within them before his gaze dropped to your lips, where it stilled. “The only thing harder than this is to be around you every day, acting as if we are nothing but friends when all I want to do is to hold you and kiss you and to tell you how much I love you and continue to do so for the rest of my life.” Draco let out a breath he hadn’t even been aware he was holding, resting his forehead against yours. “Because it´s the hardest thing in the world, loving someone so much, who is just so oblivious to absolutely everything you say or do.”
Until that very day, you had no idea that a heart could stop beating and hammering in your chest so fast at the same time, but this was exactly what was happening to you right now. All the emotions flushing through you were way too much but at the same time you knew it would never be enough. Not when it came to Draco. Your voice was only a whisper, but you were just relieved that you still had one at all, when you whispered: “Maybe you should just stop pretending then. Because maybe this is all that she is hoping for.”
Draco hummed in response.
“But maybe this is just so much more than I could ever hope for. So much more than I deserve.”
“You deserve to be happy, Draco. And when it comes to me – I´m willing to do whatever I need to just so you can be.”
“Stay with me, then.”, he whispered against your lips, his voice sounding husky. “That´s all I need.”
You nodded.
“I will.”
And when your lips finally met Draco´s all the doubts either of you had ever had just vanished into the air. Because you both were certain that this was right where you belonged. Nothing that felt as good as this kiss could ever be anything but just how things were supposed to be. Within seconds, the world fell into place for you, Draco asked himself how he could have ever doubted that you didn’t love him the same way he had loved you ever since he could remember and you wondered about how you could have ever mistaken Draco´s behaviour for anything but what it actually was. Love. A love that had built up over all those years the two of you had been friends, something you had always known had been there but had never acted on, something that had grown just so much stronger with every single thing the two of you had been through and a love that would continue to grow with everything that you would witness together from this very second on.
When finally, Draco pulled away from you and looked into your starstruck eyes, he couldn’t help the sly grin that made it to his face.
“And you really had no idea?”
You shook your head, the blush on your cheeks only deepened.
“Merlin, (Y/n), how oblivious can one be?”
“Maybe you should just stop beating around the bush from time to time and just tell me what´s going on, Malfoy.”, you returned.
Draco chuckled and placed a small kiss on your temple.
“Fair enough.”, he agreed.
You raised an eyebrow in response.
“Really? That´s it? No arguing? No distraction? No teasing? Merlin Draco, do I need to be worried?”
“Don’t get fooled by it. This is only for tonight. I have a lifetime to do all of those things now. Because I can promise you that now I have witnessed this once, I will never let you go again.”
You rolled your eyes and let out a dramatic sigh.
“What have I only gotten myself into?”, you groaned, but at the same time, you got more comfortable in Draco´s arms again, feeling the tiredness slowly sneaking back into your body that had been forgotten over everything that Draco had told you before.
“Don´t tell me you would want it any other way.”, Draco grinned, as he pulled you even closer.
And oh, he was so right with that.
“Don´t you dare, Blaise!”
“What? You want them to be late for class?”
“Just give them five more minutes.”
“What difference does that make?”
“It gives me time to fetch (Y/n)´s silly muggle camera and capture this moment for eternity. “
“You wouldn’t let them forget anyway.”
“Obviously I wouldn´t. I have to tease them about this for the rest of their lives.”
“Admit it, Pansy, you only want to do so because they look just adorable.”
“Well, maybe. A little bit. But that doesn’t mean I can´t use it against them.”
And Pansy and Blaise were right. Draco and you, cuddled up under a blanket on one of the couches in the common room, Draco´s arms wrapped around you, and your head resting on his chest, the morning sun shining through the window was a lovely sight indeed. And even though Draco would claim to hate his friends for showing around the pictures later everywhere, telling everyone an absolutely heartwarming and totally made-up story about how the two of you had ended up there, secretly he was thankful that they did. Because like that they showed everyone that you were finally his, just like he had always been yours. And maybe – just maybe – he would keep a copy of the picture in his nightstand and in the nights he didn’t sneak down to the common room to cuddle with you until the sun would rise again, he would pull it out, staring at the picture of you in his arms, both of you with a faint smile on your lips, until he would fall asleep. But honestly, he couldn’t wait for a time when he wouldn’t need a photo anymore to look at you, because you would fall asleep next to him every single night and he could just look at you instead. Because who needed a picture when the reality was just so much better than all the dreams he used to have about it, back when he hadn’t even had the faintest idea that not even the best ones would come close to the feeling of actually having you in his arms?
Imagine after losing her brother in Sokovia Wanda finds a comfort in a fellow new Avenger  It was a few weeks after Sokovia and Wanda had barely left her room as Vision had tried his best to help console her. everyone had almost given up until you came along. You had come to the Avenger’s compound due to a home lab explosion that cost you both your parents and your normal life. And now here you were alone in front of Earth’s mighty heroes, an orphan with strange powers similar to Wanda’s. “F/n L/n?” Natasha says as you walk cautiously out of the quinjet, “Don’t worry, you will be in good hands here” she says as she leads you inside telling you what everything was as she walked you to you room’s dorm. “And here we are, Your next door neighbor is Wanda and next to her is Vison. Your room comes furnished but if you don’t like it,” she hands you a black credit card along with your room keys and a tablet, “Here is one of Tony’s credit cards, order what you want and it will be her soon”. Y/n looks at Natasha and smiles, “Thank you Natasha.” Nat smiles and starts to walk down the hallway as you hear a door open. “Tasha gone?” someone asks as you hear a woman’s voice with an accent. You turn your head and she a brunette woman wearing a black sweater and black leggings. You turn back to the hallway to see Natasha turning the corner, “Yeah she’s gone” you say with a small smile as the women slowly steps out to introduce herself. “Wanda, you are new yes?” Wanda says as she looks at the boxes and bags outside your door. “Yeah, I’m Y/n” you say as you open your room door and throw you backpack on the bed with your powers as Wanda watches wide eyed before tearing up and smiling. “I think you’ll like it here” she says as she uses her powers to help put the boxes in your room as you look at her smiling.
