bbc merlin - 03x09 Love in the Time of Dragons
this scene. merlin just standing there and watching as arthur figures out how uther could've been poisoned, how it could've only been the remedy gaius gave him. all the while merlin's thinking about how gaius won't listen and how there's no way he can let him take the blame for this.
there's also obviously an interesting dynamic due to merlin having just told arthur that him and gaius were not on the best of terms currently, and how arthur compared them to himself and uther. merlin gave up alice quite quickly, but arthur didn't ask, he didn't say anything, just looked at him. insane.

I have sooo many WIPs. Some of them I probably won't revisit but there are about three that I actively work on here and there. I've started very casually writing fics more recently, so I don't get too pressed if I never finish.
One of the ones I'm dabbling with at thw moment is a classic Lamia episode divergence for Merlin.

A fic that I wish gets more attention is actually probably The Art of Anatomy. I don't usually do short fics but the few that I did for Two Weeks of Whump turned out pretty well. It's always nice to have a prompt that makes you write something you didn't expect to.
I also really think Severed and Grown In turned out really well. My longer fics are actually some of my most read! Which is nice since I usually prefer to write those. But these are my most underrated short fics I suppose.
Some of my fics get lost in the sauce I think just because they aren't Merthur. But that's okay, my gen reading buddies will find their way to the fics haha

I think I would describe my fic writing style as very character driven. I tend to prioritize character relationships and dynamics over plot. But I also very often write whump, which I use to evoke those feelings that characters have for each other

One thing I was worried about when I got my new crested gecko was that I wouldn't fall in love as much because it wouldn't be Quasi.
But today Arthur, my new crested gecko, climbed up my arm in much the same way Quasi used to, and he sat on the hood of my jacket and looked at me, and it felt so familiar.
Quasi is my pride and joy but I love crested geckos through and through it seems. This parallel has be choked up, and it shows how much Quasi's growth was stunted compared to a healthy crested gecko (I rescued Quasi whilst Arthur is perfectly healthy, they are both adult crested geckos in these photos).
I'm just so excited to enjoy Arthur's company as much as I did Quasi's, and I'm happy that he has taken to me so well! (Perhaps not quite as eagerly as Quasi lol, but still).

Sometimes, I think about how Merlin purposefully turned Arthur against magic twice—the first time to save his soul and the second to save his life—so when he finally told Arthur he was a sorcerer, it was the ultimate bamboozle.
“How could the bumbling idiot I’ve known all these years have been my greatest protector the whole time?” Yeah, sure. But also: “How could a sorcerer have chosen me over magic? Over his own freedom and the freedom of those like him? Over the gods who created him and the religion that saves him?” It’s one thing to die for someone and another thing entirely to give up who you are for them.
Obviously, Merlin was wrong, and that’s why playing God had an effect opposite to what he’d intended. But I think it’s so interesting to consider how Arthur might have viewed this confession. He was betrayed by Morgana because she loved herself more than her own brother and betrayed by Uther because he loved himself more than his own son. And all of this while Merlin, at first, fell in love with the cause and, then, even more with the man behind it. His loyalty to and love for Arthur was so pure it turned sinful, and I don’t think Arthur would have ever gotten over that. If he hadn’t died.

downloading my fics
printing my fics
copy/pasting or screenshotting my fics
sharing your saved copy of my fics with anyone else who might want them in the unlikely but never impossible case that my fics are no longer available on ao3
making a book of my fic(s) and running your fingers across the pages while lovingly whispering my precioussss
doing these things with anything I create for fandom, such as meta, headcanons, au nonsense like 'texts from the brodinsons,' etc
I am not fine with "the audience"
doing any of the above with the purpose/intent of plagiarizing my work or passing it off as their own in any capacity
feeding my work into ai for any reason whatsoever

No joke I was the only one who noticed that the lake of Avalon is a grassland in the modern day and I didn’t say anything because so many people in this fandom are emotionally dependent on the imagery of Arthur rising from a lake.
The idea that I expressed to @fishoutofcamelot and @witchcraft–and–wizardry last night is that Arthur sits up from his grave and immediately goes rolling down this hill at full momentum. It’s Merlin’s first genuine laugh in decades.
