Description: Everyone comes out to each other
Series
“Hey Steve?” Robin asks from my bed. I hum in answer but continue to look over the homework for school. After getting into college to start a teaching degree I’ve been slowly getting my work down. And this was the first important assignment due for my course. “Do you like Eddie?” She randomly asks me, causing me to stop writing down what I was doing. I put my pencil done and slowly turn to Robin. “What are you talking about?” I ask, hoping that she hasn’t worked out what I’ve only just come to realise. “Do you like Eddie?” She asks again, as if I didn’t hear her the first time. “Oh no, I heard you. But why do you think that?” I ask her again, feeling the panic start to rise a little bit. “Well, you look at him all the time. You both are constantly touching each other. You cuddle during movies and when you fall asleep. And I know what you look like when you like someone, and that look is directed at Eddie.” I freeze again and turn back to my work. “Nothing is going on. I don’t like Eddie,” I tell Robin, trying to concentrate on my work again. “Steve…” Robin tries again but I shake my head. “Can you go Robin? I need to concentrate,” I snap a little bit, feeling bad as I hear Robin sigh. “Fine, I’ll be here if you need me,” She whispers and walks out, slamming my door behind her. “Shit,” I snap and throw my pencil at the wall next to the door. I let out a small cry and go to lay down on my bed, closing my eyes to forget about what I just did.
Later that night
“Steve!” I hear Nancy yell on the other side of my door, banging on it repeatedly. I groan as I start to wake from my sleep. I got to get up but the door is already flying open. I jump in surprise and look in confusion and shock as an angry Nancy and angry, confused Eddie walks in my door. “What made you too barge into my room?” I snap a little, feeling ambushed all of a sudden. “What did you say to Robin this afternoon?” Nancy snaps loudly. I look shocked at her and say, “I didn’t say anything.” She scoffs annoyed at me as Eddie says, “We came to find her crying in her room this afternoon. She could only say your name.” “Dimmit,” I whisper and start to walk over to my door. Nancy steps in my way and glares at me. “Nancy, I need to go,” I growl, not having any more patents. “I will not let you go to her. You’ll just upset her more,” She growls back, trying to push me back. I roll my eyes and move around her. “She’s my soulmate. Only I can fix it.” I say and continue to her bedroom. “Steve,” I hear Eddie call but I can’t focus on it.
Shit, I fucked up so bad. I let my panic and stress get to me and snapped at Robin when she was only trying to help. I take a deep breath before giving a soft knock on her door. “Rob, it’s me. Can I please come in?” I softly ask, leaning my head against the door. In the corner of my eye I notice Eddie holding back an angry Nancy from coming over. I feel the door start to open so I take my head off the door to see no one on the other side. I sigh again and slip in, closing the door behind me.
I look into the room to find Robin flopping back on the bed face down. I smile sadly at her and move over to her side, taking a seat next to her. “Rob,” I whisper, hoping that she’ll lift her head to look at me. I see her take a deep breath and take her head out of the pillow, facing away from me. “I’m sorry I tried to push you,” She apologises to me. I shake my head at her and place a hand on her shoulder. “No, no, no. You have nothing to be sorry for Rob. I’m sorry. I was an asshole to you earlier. Just with school and all my confusing feelings, you caught me off guard and I snapped,” I explain, knowing that I shouldn’t be making excuses but also know that Robin deserves the truth.
Robin flips onto her bad and looks up at me with red rimmed eyes. I frown at her as she says, “What’s going on with you lately? You’ve been short with us all. And when I thought you liked Eddie, well, it explained everything.” “You weren’t wrong,” I whisper, looking towards the door wear I left Nancy and Eddie. “What?” She asks, drawing me to her again. “I do like Eddie,” I say, looking into her eyes so she knows I’m not lying. “Why didn’t you tell me?” She whispers, sitting up and moving closer to me. I sigh and lay down in her lap, really needing her right now. “I was scared. I just didn’t know how to deal with it,” I whisper, playing with her sheet. “Why don’t you talk with me about it now?” She asks. “I like girls. I like boobs. But I also like Eddie. I like playing with his long hair. I get butterflies when his face gets close to mine. I get excited when he walks into work. It feels the same way when I’m with girls. But shouldn’t I only like one?” I question, the sick feeling creeping up on me again. “Stevie, you know you are allowed to like both?” Robin whispers, running her hand through my hair.
I jump up and stare at her in shock. “What? That’s a thing?” I ask. She nods and smiles at me. “It’s called bisexual. I think,” Robin say, giving a slightly confused look as she thinks. “So there’s nothing wrong with me?” I whisper, tears springing to my eyes. Robin focuses back at me and gives me a small smile. “Nothing is wrong with you Steve. Maybe this week, after your assignment is in, we both go somewhere to learn more about this. I know a place that may help?” Robin asks, moving me back in her lap. I nod and go to fall asleep again when a thought occurs to me. “Eddie and Nancy are at the door,” I whisper. Robin tenses before jumping out of bed, almost causing me to fall off the bed.
She rips the door open to find Nancy and Eddie with their ears again the door that was once there. “We are fine. Leave us alone please,” Robin rambles before trying to close the door again but Eddie sticks his foot in the door. “Can we come in?” He pleads while Nancy still looks mad. Robin looks over at me concerned causing Eddie to do the same thing. I smile at he and nod, waving the other two in. “Come in,” Robin says and opens the door wider. “My beds big enough for the four of us,” She continues, smiling over at me. I laugh and move to the middle of the bed. “Is everything all ok?” Nancy asks as Robin slips in next to me and Eddie slips in behind me. “We’re ok Nancy. Just some personal stuff we needed to work through together,” Robin explains her. Nancy nods and slips in behind Robin. I sigh and push my face into Robins hair as Eddie slips his arm over my waist. I freeze for a second but relax after a moment more.
Few Weeks Later
For weeks Robin has been helping me try and figure out who I was. I’ve worked out that I am bisexual and definitely want to be with Eddie. The only other thing we have been trying to work out is how to tell Nancy and Eddie that I’m not straight. “Come on, you just need to tell them. I’m sure they’d understand,” Robins says one lazy Sunday, laying on my bed while I do homework again. “But what if they don’t Robin? What if Eddie doesn’t want to be bed around someone who’s half gay?” I complain while turning to face Robin. She gives me a, ‘you’re so dumb look’ before saying, “Have you met Eddie? If he’s not gay in some way idk gay.” I laugh and shake my head. “Would it make you feel better if I told them I was gay too?” She asks me, getting serious once again. I sigh and look up at the ceiling to think. “It definitely would help be feel a little better about it.”
Robin smiles and gets up from my bed, walking over to my door. “What are you doing?” I ask her, slowly getting up and following after her. She continues on her way and knocks on Eddie’s and Nancy’s room before continuing towards the living room. Nancy and Eddie both pop their heads out the doorway and give me a confused look. I shrug and point towards Robin. “What you need Birdy?” Eddie asks her, leaning casually against the door. I smile at him as Robin says, “Steve and I have something to tell you both.” I quickly look away, missing the sad look on Eddie’s face, and give Robin a shocked face. “We’re doing this now??” I freak, not realising she meant now. She shrugs and moves towards the living room again. “No time like the present. To the living room everyone!” Robin shouts over her shoulder. I sigh and follow after her, not looking up at Nancy or Eddie.
I walk around the corner to find Robin in the love seat, already waving me over. I move over and move her legs to lay over mine, playing with the end of her pants. Nancy and Eddie slowly sit down on the couch, still giving us both a weird look. “Ok, so we are hear. What did you want to talk about?” Nancy questions, looking between us both and where my hands are playing with Robin’s pants legs. I see a flash of jealousy in her eyes but don’t stop cause it’s the only thing keeping me from exploding. “So, Steve has been learning about himself over the past few weeks and we thought it was time to tell you what has been going on,” Robin starts to explain. Eddie looks at me concerned but I just smile at him. “I’m a lesbian,” Robin blurts, surprising me into a small laugh. Eddie and Nancy looked shocked at the two of us while Robin slaps me in the back of the head.
“Ow, what was the for?” I ask, rubbing the back of my head. “You already knew that. Don’t need to laugh at me,” Robin complains, “Well, I’m sorry. You said it so sudden,” I explain, letting out another small laugh. Robin rolls her eyes and looks back at the other two. “Ok, then what does this have to do with Steve?” Eddie asks, getting more confused. Robin grabs my hand and I take another deep breath. “Well, after having a few new feelings, Robin and I have worked out that I’m Bisexual,” I tell them both, locking on for any bad reactions.
In a few seconds, Nancy and Eddie are both smiling widely. “Hey, me too,” Nancy says, looking over at Robin quickly before looking away. I smile at her more as Eddie adds on, “I told you gay people always flock together Nance.” Robin and I look at him weird before he explains. “I’m gay too and I was telling Nance the other day about how gay people always find each other and hang out. I always side that Steve would be our token straight though. So we need a fifth friend now,” He jokes. We all laugh and I shake my head at him. “So, if we are all gay, why not on Saturday we all go to that gay bar that just opened up? Maybe I can do a bit more exploring?” I ask, getting a little more excited. Robin and Nancy get super excited about the idea but Eddie seems hesitant. I look at him pleadingly, which makes his sigh and agree to go with up. Now I can start trying to get with Eddie a little better.

Description: Eddie and Robin play pranks on Steve and Nancy.
Series
Something very known in their new home that anything could jump out at Nancy and Steve. Since moving in, Eddie and Robin’s friendship has grown and has taken a cheeky turn. They knew the feelings they had for their other room mates but still wouldn’t say anything to each other, afraid that they funny relationship would change. Now, they are trying to figure out the next prank they are pulling on their roommates.
“So, what’s gonna be next?” Robin asks Eddie as she leans over the table, looking over his Dnd notes for the next campaign he’s working on. “Well, I have to finish up with this campaign but nothing is planned for the night,” Eddie remarks as he looks back down at his notes, trying to work out what would be a good beast for the party to try and kill. “That’s not what I’m talking about and you know it,” Robin wines and tries to push his papers away. Eddie laughs at her and piles all of his notes into a pile.
He stares up at her and gives her a confused look. “What are you talking about Birdy?” Eddie questions, tilting his head a little. Robin rolls her eyes at him and shakes her head. “What is the next prank we should pull you idiot!” She whisper shouts, knowing that Steve is only in the shower right now. Eddie shrugs and grins wide while asking her, “Well, you want something small or something big?” Robin smiles back and says, “We haven’t done anything big in a while.” Eddie’s grin gets impossibly wider. “Well, we could hide some of there stuff? Or I’ve been seeing these news articles about people hiding 100s of tiny things all over their apartments. Taken months to find them.” Eddie suggests, knowing that Robin loves nothing more then driving Steve a little crazy.
Robin jumps up and down, nodding her head up widely. “Yes!! Where can we get some???” She asks, still jumping up and down a little. “I saw a store somewhere down the road that had a few bags of some colourful ducks?” Eddie says, trying to work out which store it was that had them. Robin just starts jumping up and down more, squealing out a, “Yes!” over and over.
All of a sudden, Robin stops jumping and stares off into the hallway shocked. Eddie looks confused at her and asks, “What’s going on?” She just points over to the hall and covers her mouth with her hand, a grin spreading on her face. Eddie turns around to find Steve glaring at the two of them, and new bright blue hair, a colour he didn’t have before his shower. “We had one rule,” Steve growls at the two of them. If looks could kill, they’d be dead. Eddie grins and turns to Robin. “I also forgot to tell you that I put some blue hair dye in your shampoo and conditioner like you asked. I think we know who uses it.” Eddie grins over at Steve but he continues to glare at the two of them. “Robin,” Steve snarls, staring right at her.
Robin stops laughing and looks at Steve a little scared. “I forgot that we shared a shampoo and conditioner bottle! I really did want to find out who was stealing!” Robin defends. Before Steve can say anything more to her, Eddie buts in to say, “If it means anything, I think the colour makes you look hot.” Steve shuts his mouth and looks at Eddie surprised, not knowing what he can say to that. He blushes and walks away from the two of them, yelling back at them, “Stop with the pranks or I’ll kick you both out!” Eddie and Robin look at each other again and burst out laughing.
A Few Weeks Later
After Steve had the hair dye all come out, he listened to Robin and got it dyed professionally. He really did look good with the blue hair. But because Eddie knew that Steve was feeling better about the prank, he decided that it was time to start the one that him and Robin came up with the day Steve first dyed his hair. He’d dragged Robin to the store he found the ducks out and they spent a long time going through all the different ducks, trying to work out what they wanted to torture Nancy and Steve with. They bought a few of them. A bag of 40 colourful ducks, 40 Halloween ducks, 40 Christmas ducks, 40 valentine ducks and 40 ducks weird funny costumes.
Unfortunate for them, Nancy and Steve were home so they weren’t able to hide any of the ducks until the next day. So, Eddie left the bags in his van and the two spent the night with their roommates.
The next day, when Nancy is at work, Steve is at school and Eddie and Robin were meant to be in class, Eddie and Robin hide the ducks everywhere they could. About 100 ducks were separated into Steve and Nancy’s room. The rest were spread around the living room and kitchen. They even put some in the bathroom. When they were done, the quickly got themselves ready to get their own day ready, but they were excited to watch Steve and Nancy’s expressions when they find the first duck.
The End of the Day
“Really?” Steve yells from the kitchen. Eddie and Robin smile at each other as Steve walks into the room with the flour in his hand. “Why is there a duck in the flour?” He asks, looking between Eddie and Robin. They just smile at Steve and shrug. He groans and throws the duck at Eddie, bouncing it off his head. “Ow!” Eddie exclaims, rubbing his forehead and picking the duck up from the floor. “Your gonna end up with a bruise if Steve does that every time,” Robin laughs. Steve and Nancy look up scared at the two of them while Nancy asks, “How many ducks did you both hide??” Eddie and Robin just continue to smile at them, shrugging again and looking back down at whatever, they were doing. It’s going to be a long time until all those ducks are found. “We need to start getting them back,” Nancy whispers to Steve as she walks past him, trying not to get the attention of Eddie and Robin.
Steve smiles and follows behind her, getting away from the to idiots on the couch. “And how are we going to do that?” Steve asks her, starting to continue making the cookies he was making before the ducks. “Well, what’s the best prank that we could do to get them to stop doing them to us?” Nancy questions, sitting down next to him on the bench. “I don’t know Nanc, maybe we should just leave them be. It could get worse if we try to retaliate,” Steve tries to reason but Nancy’s smirk says otherwise. “You have a duck in your cookie batter,” She points out causing Steve to look down, indeed finding another duck in his batter. He groans and picks the duck out of the batter. He walks out of the kitchen to throw it at Eddie before walking back into the kitchen grinning at Nancy. “What have you go in mind?”
A Few Days Later
It took Steve and Nancy some time to come up with a prank. And they definitely came up with a prank. They new that it was silly but definitely one that would annoy the other two. Something that they didn’t know as that Nancy and Steve had been moving around one of the dolls that Robin had collected as a child as well as a few of Eddies guitar picks around the apartment. When no one was supposed to be in the apartment, Steve or Nancy would go back and moving the things around. Robin and Eddie had been questioning Nancy and Steve about it for days but neither of them were admitting it, which only caused the other two to get more confused about the situation.
“Maybe we have a ghost,” Steve smiles as he flips through one of his books he’s reading for school at the moment. Eddie looks up scared while Robin just laughs. “Yeah right, ghosts aren’t even real,” Robins says, trying to calm down a little. Steve shrugs and looks up to her. “I don’t know. If none of us is moving your stuff around maybe they do,’ Steve explains to her. “Or maybe you both are just crazy,” Nancy butts in, walking into the living room and plopping down on Steve’s lap.
“Would you two no be gross in front of us,” Eddie snaps a little, feeling a little sick at the display. “Nancy looks over proudly while Steve looks confused. “What do you mean? Nancy and you sit like this all the time?” Steve asks him, trying to work out Eddie reaction. “Don’t question it Steve, sometimes Eddie’s just weird where I sit,” Nancy says and gets off Steve’s lap, moving over to Eddies instead. “What the hell?” Steve says, even more confused. “Don’t worry about it, now why would I ghost only be moving our stuff around?” Robin continues to question, trying to wrap her head around the situation.
Steve puts his book down on the table and looks at Robin. “Well, maybe it doesn’t like you recking the house with your pranks,” Steve supplies. “Or maybe you and Nancy are just done with our pranks?” Eddie asks, seeming to be the first of the two to really try to get a confession, Nancy starts to nod her head. “Yeah we are, so why don’t you stop or we’ll start to hid your things,” Nancy tells them, getting off of Eddie and sitting on the arm of Steve’s chair.
“What the hell?” Steve asks, looking at Nancy confused as to why she spilled the beans so quickly. She smiles at him and says, “I’ve had enough of skipping my classes. I really need to get back,” She explains which gets a laugh out of Eddie and Robin. “You know you just started a war right?” Eddie tells them, giving them his biggest and goofiest smile. Steve blushes a little but turns to Nancy with a frown. “I told you that would happen,” Steve says, leaning back against his chair. Nancy shrugs as they both look over at their two idiots huddled in close and whispering about something. “But at least we can keep them out of trouble,” Nancy says as they both watch Eddie and Robin jump up from the crouch and run back to Robins room to plan more pranks to do on Steve and Nancy.

Imagine a modern college au where Eddie makes it to college and never shuts up about his best friend Chris and his babygirl Stevie. Naturally when Chrissy and Steve come visit him, his college friends think oh that Eddie’s girlfriend Stevie and his best friend Chris.
Except. They’re both hanging out in Eddie’s dorm with his roommate Argyle and his friend Gareth, they’re pretty cool, and the door slams open as Eddie rushes in. He basically screams STEVIEEE, hurls himself into his lap and starts smacking kisses all over his face.
Chrissy says to a gobsmacked Gareth, “This is gonna take a while, it usually takes Eddie about ten minutes to realize there are other people in the room with them,”
And Gareth is like, “You’re not Stevie, are you,”
Argyle from across the room says, “Woah, I wish my best friend was that excited to see me,”

My Boys (Chapter 61)
Tumblr media
Series List
Y/n's pov
We've been sitting in the basement for what feels like forever. The boys are all impatient and all sitting on the couch trying to entertain themselves. Max has been writing the whole time, still not telling us what she's writing. The boys have finally stopped talking and are looking over at Max. "I know you guys are staring at me," Max tells them, making them all jump. They all say something to make her think she didn't see them but of course, they are terrible excuses. Lucas and Dustin pick up some magazines while Steve throws a ball up in the air over his head. "How do you think your eyes boring into the back of my head is protecting me from Vecna, I don't know," Max says. She makes a light tapping noise so I look behind me and watch as she walks over to us all. She stops in front of us, the boys still trying to look away from her. "You can look at me now," She tells them all. They all apologize and look up at her. She motions over to me to sit on the couch so I move so I'm sitting down on Steve's lap. He wraps his arms around my middle and kisses me on the back of my neck.
Max sighs and looks down at the envelopes in her hands. "For you," She says and holds one out to Dustin. Dustin looks confused but takes the envelope. "For you," She whispers and gives me one. She continues this for Steve and Lucas as well, both taking it. "Oh, and, um, give these to Mike, El and Will," she asks and gives them to me. I look confused at her and then the envelopes. "If you can ever get a hold of them again," Max whispers. Steve and Dustin start to open their envelopes and Max raises her voice, saying, "Hey, woah, what are you doing? No, don't. That's not for now. Don't open it now." "Don't... Okay," Dustin says, closing his again. "What is this Max?" I gently ask her. "It's um... it's a fail-safe. For after. If things don't work out," She nervously explains. "Wait, whoa. Max, things are gonna work out," Lucas tells her. "No! No, I don't need you to reassure me and tell me it's all gonna work out. Cause people have been telling me that my entire life and it's almost never true," Max snaps at him. I slowly get up from Steve's lap and walk over to her.
"It's never true," She says, looking between me and Lucas. I get behind Max and wrap my arms around her as she says, "I mean, of course, this asshole curses me. Should've seen that one coming." She leans back into me and lets out a sad sigh. I squeeze her and look over at the boys nervously. Max looks over at the walkie and gets out of my arms to pick it up. "If we go to East Hawkins, will this reach Pennhurst?" She asks, turning back to us all. "Of course. Yeah," Dustin replies. "Wait, why are we talking about East Hawkins?" Max looks at Steve and it's enough for him to understand. "No. No. No!" He says to everyone, looking at me for help. "Steve," I whisper, knowing why Max needs to go there. Without a word, Max walks over to her bag and runs up the stairs. "Shit," Steve whispers and we all follow after Max as quickly as we can.
"Max, Max. Seriously." Steve yells as we walk out the door. Steve gets next to her and tells her, "Seriously, I'm not joking okay? I'm not driving you anywhere." Max looks back and snaps, "If you think I'm going to spend what is likely the last day of my life in the armpit that is Mike Wheeler's basement, then you're out of your mind. So, either take me where I need to go or you're gonna have to tie me down, which is technically kidnapping of a minor. And if I live to see another day Steve, I swear to God, I will prosecute." We get to my car and Max tries to open the door but it's still locked. She glares at him and demands, "Open the door." "Uh, no," Steve tells her. God, he has some balls. "I know a good lawyer," She fights. "Or I'll give her mine," I tell him. Steve looks shocked and confused over at me and then looks back at Max. She continues to glare at him and he scoffs a little at her, pulling my keys from his pocket and opening the door while saying, "Henderson, that super walkie of yours better reach Pennhurst." We all climb into the car, Steve slightly angry about the development. I look over to Steve and grab his hand. He looks down at it and then up at me. I smile at him and he gives me a weak one back, starting the car and driving off when Max finally gets in the car.
At East Hawkins
Steve pulls up to East Hawkins and pulls on the break while telling Max, "This better be fast Mayfield." "Twenty seconds," She tells him and jumps out of the car. Steve looks into the back seat and asks Dustin, "That thing's got batteries in it right?" Dustin looks at him in disbelief and looks out the window. "I'm not even answering that question," He says. Steve looks at him annoyed while Dustin says, "Yea, it has batteries." "Yeah, I got it," Steve says and sits forward in his seat again. I reach over the centre console and grab Steve's hand again, giving it a squeeze. He looks over at me and softly smiles. I love that smile so much. Just as good as the sexy one, if not better. "She's been gone for longer than 20 seconds," Lucas says worriedly. I look down at my watch and nod. "Yeah, should we go check she's okay?" I ask, looking over at Steve. He looks forward and nods, and all of us jump out of the car. As I round the front I notice Max. I sigh and lean on the hood of the car and softly yell, "Guys?"
They all look over and see Max coming around the corner quickly. "Hey, that was longer than 20 seconds," Steve yells as she gets closer, leaning against my car door. Max doesn't say anything and tries to walk past Steve but he notices something is off. "Hey, whoa, whoa. You all right?" He softly asks her. "I'm fine. Just drive," she tells him, getting in the back again. Steve looks over at me but I nod to the car, both of us dropping into our seats. "Did something happen?" I ask and turn around. "Can we please just go?" Max snaps/pleads. Steve nods and starts the car and reverses out of the trailer park.
The whole time we drive to our next stop, Steve and I are looking in the reversing mirror to check on Max, giving each other a concerned look. Max has been quiet and looking out as we drive. As I go to ask where she wants to go she gives a, "Turn here." Dustin looks back at her confused and asks her, "Here?" She softly nods at him and he looks back to Steve who is looking at them and nods as well. Steve makes a left-hand turn and I notice the sign saying 'Roane Hill Cemetery'. She wants to visit Billy before she dies. I look over at Max to see if she's ok but she avoids my eye and continues to look out the window. "Park over there," Max tells Steve, pointing just in front of us. He nods and drives over.
As soon as he stops, Max jumps out of the car, closing the door behind her. Lucas jumps out after her and yells, "Max?" Running over to her as she tries to walk away. I watch them both and lean over to talk with Steve and Dustin. "Is she ok?" Dustin whispers, taking his eyes off Max for a second to look at me. I sign and shrug. "I don't know Dustin. I don't know how anyone would be feeling if they knew they could die," I tell him. I'm terrified and I don't even know if I'm cursed yet. Dustin signs as well but Steve turns to him and says, "Hey, we just have to be there for her when she needs us and kill Vecna as soon as possible." Dustin nods and gets out of the car, leaning against the hood.
"Is she going to be ok Steve?" I ask, leaning closer to Steve while Lucas starts to make his way back over to us. Steve turns to me and grabs my hands. "We will do anything we can to make sure nothing bad happens to her," He whispers, squeezing my hands tighter. I sigh and pull him closer, wrapping my arms around him. "I have to protect her Steve," I whisper to him, tears filling my eyes a little. Steve squeezes me back and says, "You will. You'll do anything you can to ensure nothing happens to her." I nod and bury my face into his neck. "What were you and Robin talking about last night? After we got back to the Wheelers from the school." Steve randomly asks, causing me to pull away from him. "What do you mean?" I ask, trying to be confused but knowing exactly what he is talking about. "When we got to Nancy's, you and Robin were talking about something when Robin came out crying. What were you talking about?" He asks again, trying to be more clear. I sigh and shake my head. "I can't tell you, Steve. You'll get worried too and we need to focus on Max right now." Steve tries to get me to look at him but I shake my head. "Please, Stevie. I need you to trust me. Everything is ok," I tell him, hoping he will drop it. He sighs and I notice him opening his window.
"I'm here if you need me," Steve whispers, tapping his finger on the door and looking out towards Max. "So, you think she's been up there long enough yet?" He asks, loud enough for the boys to hear. "Give her a few seconds," Lucas whispers, but Steve looks down at his watch. "Nope, it's been long enough," Steve whispers and jumps out of his car. "Steve, just give her some more time," Lucas tries again, but Steve isn't having any of it. "I have, all right Sinclear?" Steve snaps, turning around to continue. I quickly open my door to follow, Dustin moving so I can get out. "I'm calling it. She wants to get a lawyer, she can," Steve argues while he walks backward to where Max is. "Dam it," I whisper and run after him, both boys staying at the car. "Steve!" I yell after him, getting closer.
He ignores me and jogs over to Max. "Max," Steve yells a little as he is almost over at her, me close behind him. "Time to giddy up, yeah?" Steve asks, walking slightly in front of her. "Max?" I ask her, looking around Steve to see that Max is staring blankly at the tombstone in front of her, her eyes rolling back. "Max? Max?" Steve whispers, leaning down to her and grabs her shoulder, shaking her and yelling her name a little loud. "Max!" I yell really loud and move to her other side, grabbing both shoulders and shaking more than Steve was. I look into her eyes rolling back. "Max! Wake up!" Steve and I yell over and over, more panic filling our voices. "Guys!" Steve eventually yells back to the boys. "Wake up Max, Please!" I whisper to her, getting close to her ear.
Lucas runs up behind me, getting between me and Max while Dustin sits between Max and Steve. "Max you gotta get outta there! Can you hear me?" Lucas yells at her over and over, shaking her shoulder. "Max!" Dustin yells before Steve grabs onto his shoulders, pointing back to the car. "Call Nancy and Robin! Go get 'em! Call Nancy and Robin! Go!" Steve panic yells at Dustin. Dustin runs off while I look back at Max, Lucas continuing to call for her. "Steve?" I whisper to him, taking Dustin's spot to be closer to Max. He grabs onto my arm and says, "It's fine. We'll figure it out. Or the girls will know." I nod but it doesn't help the panic that I am feeling. I hear Dustin yell into the walkie but I'm trying to focus on Max. "Max, we need you to snap out of it already," I snap at her, shaking her some more. She just continues to stare ahead, not seeming to know we are there.
I jump up from Max and run down the hill to Dustin, hoping I can be more help there. "Did they work it out!?" I yell down at him, noticing him standing on the car. "We need music," He tells me, jumping down on the ground. I nod and Dustin grabs a bag, dumping the contents and picking up all of the tapes. I open the door and pull out the Walkman that is in the glove box, both of us running back up the hill to find Steve and Lucas still trying to wake up Max.
"Guys!" Dustin yells as he skids across the ground to the three of them. I get next to him as Lucas asks, "What is this?" pointing to all of the tapes Dustin dumped in between us all. "What's her favourite song?" Dustin asks, ignoring Lucas' question. "Why?" Lucas asks. "Robin said if she listens...." Dustin starts but I but in to say, "We don't have time right now! What is Max's favourite song?" "Running up that Hill by Kate Bush!" Lucas yells and we all look through the tapes to try and find one that has the song on it. "It isn't here!" I yell, panic creeping up on me more. "It's this one! I've got it!" Lucas yells triumphantly after a few more seconds of searching. "Give it to me!" I yell at him and hold out my hand, Lucas throws it in my open hand, and I throw it into the Walkman. "Go! Go! Go!" Someone keeps repeatedly yelling, but I ignore them while giving Dustin the headphones. He puts it on Max, and I press play. "Max! Wake up!" I yell, praying that she'll snap out of it. Everyone else also starts to yell at her, but nothing seems to be happening just yet. "Max, I need you to come back to us! Please, Max!" I yell, focusing on her.
Without warning, Max slowly rises into the sky. We all fall back and look up at her shocked. "Max!" We all yell, freaking out more. "No, no, no," I whisper, feeling myself shrink a little, panic starting to take over. Steve grabs onto my hand and squeezes, trying to help me. "Max!" Lucas yells over everyone. "Snap out of it Max!" I yell moving closer. "Max!" We all yell one more time, and Max falls from the sky a moment later.
"Max!" I yell in surprise and grab onto her hands, Lucas coming up behind her to help her up. Max pulls away from me and screams as we all move closer to her. We all continue to say her name, getting calmer the more we say it. "It's okay," Lucas whispers to her, pulling her into his arms as she starts to hyperventilate. She grabs Lucas's arm while he continues to whisper comforting words to her. I place my hand on her leg and breathe out a sigh of relief. She's ok. She's ok for now. "I thought we lost you," Lucas tells her, his voice breaking a little. "I'm still... I'm still here." She whispers back to him, trying to catch her breath. We all sit around Max, letting her catch her breath and think about what just happened to her.

Y/n's pov
As we pull up near the Wheeler's house, Robin grabs onto my arms. I look at her confused but she silently pleads with me to stay in the car with her. "Hey, why don't you all go ahead without us? We'll meet you inside," I tell Dustin. He looks confused but nods his head, getting out of the car and heading over to the rest of the group. I watch as Dustin walks over to them but instead of heading inside he jumps into Nancy's car. Guess they're waiting for us. "Please tell me I'm wrong. I need you to tell me I'm wrong," Robin asks, looking over at the group as well. I exhale a breath and say, "In order to do that, I need to know what you're thinking." Robin looks over at me and almost yells, "Tell me you aren't under the curse." I sigh and say, "I've been having really bad headaches for months. I've been having nosebleeds for about a month now too. I've always had nightmares. So, Robin, I can't really say."
I look over to Robin to find her silently crying next to me. "Rob," I whisper and cup her face in my hands. She tries to get out of my hands but I pull her back. "My symptoms have been going on much longer than everyone else. I'm sure I'll be ok," I try to reassure her but she doesn't look convinced. I sigh again and promise, "If I'm wrong, I'll do whatever you want me to for a whole year. Whether that be what I wear, where I go or who I go out with. I promise I am not under this curse." Robin lets out a breath but nods her head. "Why don't you go to the others, I'll meet you there," I tell her, needing a second to breathe on my own. Robin nods and gets out of the car, walking over to everyone else. I watch as everyone gets out of the car and she runs into Steve's arms, everyone looking confused. I take another breath and get out of the car, really wanting to scream but knowing we need to focus on Max instead of believing that I may be also under the same thing.
As I move over to the group they all give me confused and worried looks. I shake my head and walk over to Steve and Robin. I wrap an arm around them and ask the group, "So, are we going in or what?" Nancy nods but the other three still have the same looks on their faces. I smile at them and we all quietly make our way into the Wheeler's basement, ready for a stressful and restless night.
Next Morning
When we all get up, we start going through the articles that Nancy and Robin found while they were at the library. We were going through them to see if there was any information that could be useful to us. "Okay, be honest. Uh... Do you guys understand any of this?" Steve asks us. "No," Lucas replies while Dustin says, "Pretty straightforward." "Oh, straightforward, really?" Steve sarcastically says. "What's confusing to you?" Dustin asks him. I look over to Steve and raise a brow, smirking at him. He rolls his eyes while Dustin explains, "So far, everyone Vecna has cursed has died, except for this old Victor Creel dude Nancy found. He's the only known survivor. If anyone knows how to beat this curse, it's him." "Yeah, that's assuming he was cursed, which we don't even know," Steve fights back. "How can Vecna have existed in the '50s? It doesn't make sense," Steve whispers to himself. "As far as we know, Eleven didn't create the Upside Down. She opened a gate to it. The Upside Down has probably been around for thousands of years. Millions. I wouldn't be surprised if it predated the dinosaurs," Dustin explains further.
"Dinosaurs? How did we get to dinosaurs?" I ask but Lucas quickly asks, "Okay. Okay. But if a gate didn't exist in the '50s, how did Vecna get through?" "Oh, and how's he getting through now?" Steve adds and points at Lucas. "And why now?" Lucas further asks. "And why then? Just pops out in the '50s, kills one family, and he's like, 'I'm good'. And proof, he just disappears. Just... gone? Only to return 30 years later and start killing random teens? No, I don't buy it. Straightforward my ass," Steve explains, moving towards the chair I'm sitting on. "Honestly Henderson, a little humility now and then, it wouldn't hurt you," Steve tells Dustin, getting a sorry in return. He motions for me to stand from the chair and I quickly get up to let him sit. When he's comfortable, I sit on his lap and lay back, his arms coming around me so he can still hold the news article.
I lean my head on Steve's shoulder and read the article with him, listening in to the boys in case they need anything or come up with any new ideas or theories. "Any idea what she's writing," I hear Dustin ask, probably looking over at Max. While the rest of us have been looking through the news articles, Max has been on the table franticly writing things. Hopefully not goodbye letters. Steve hears the questions and shifts a little to look back at her. "Did she sleep?" Dustin asks us. "I mean, would you?" Lucas asks back. I shake my head and lean against Steve's.
The door to the basement opens and Steve moves to see who's coming down. Nancy and Robin come running down the stairs, Nancy telling us, "Okay, so... we have a plan." They hand us all a folder and both of them sit down where they can. I look at the folder with Steve while Robin says, "Thanks to Nancy's newspaper minions, we are now rock star psychology students at the University of Notre Dame." "I'm now Ruth." Nancy tells us and Robin follows with, "And I'm now Rose." "Ruth?" Steve asks Nancy in disbelief and gets a nod from her. "Nice GPA," Dustin tells Nancy. "Thanks. So we called Pennhurst Asylum, told them we'd like to speak with Victor Creel, for a thesis we're co-writing on paranoid schizophrenics..." Nancy continues to explain the plan. "To which they said no," Robin says. I look confused at them both but Nancy continues with, "But we landed a three o'clock with the director." I nod and Robin explains, "Now all we have to do is charm him and convince him to let us talk to Victor." "And then maybe we can rid Max of this curse," Nancy mumbles, looking over at Max.
"Yeah, about that. We've been doing our Victor Creel homework, and uh... we got some questions," Steve tells the girls. "Lots of questions," Lucas adds. "So do we. Hopefully, Victor has the answers," Nancy replies. "Wait... Wait... Wait a second. Uh... Where's mine and Y/n's?" Steve asks, looking around in case they were somewhere else. Nancy gives him a weird look before saying, "You guys are looking after the kids." Steve looks annoyed at her before she stands to announce, "Robin and I need to go upstairs to get ready." She grabs Robin's arm and pulls her to stand. Steve groans and pushes me off of him, running after them while Robin slips her arm from Nancy's hold to help me. That was rude of Steve. I quickly get my balance and run up the stairs after Nancy and Steve, Robin right behind me. "Nancy, you're outta your mind if you think I'm babysitting again," I hear Steve snap.
I round the corner and look through the door of Nancy's room to Steve and Nancy in the corner arguing. "Ok, first of all, they're not babies anymore. And Max is in real danger. She needs people around her," Nancy snaps back. "I know. But why does it always have to be me?" He asks. "Oh my God, you have a Tom Cruise poster," Robin excitedly says when she enters, walking right over to it. "You have a Tom Cruise poster," Robin says in a suggestive way. "That's old. It's just..." Nancy tells her but Robin laughs and bends down near the bedside table. "Can you please not touch anything?" Nancy snaps at Robin. I glare at her while Steve argues, "I can't do anything here, Nance. I maybe can be helpful with this asylum director dude. I don't know. I could turn on my... my charm." I roll my eyes and walk over to Robin. "Not the charm they're gonna need Stevie," I tell him, not looking over as he whispers, "Ouch." "She's right. I did a little digging last night, and it turns out this Dr Hatch is a distinguished fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and a Harvard visiting scholar, okay?" Nancy tries to convince Steve.
I sit down on Nancy's bed while I watch Robin slowly look through all of her stuff, mesmerized by almost everything. She's really cute when she's like this. "This is a lifelong student of the world. If we're gonna win him over, we're gonna have to convince him we are too. That, like him... we are true academic scholars," Nancy continues. "Holy shit. There's a little ballerina in here," Robin whispers, showing me and Steve. I smile at her while Steve argues, "Academic scholar? She's giving you an academic scholar vibe? Yeah." I glare at him while Robin softly slams the box closed. "No, but..." Nancy agrees. I turn to see what she's gonna say next and she holds up a dress. "She will," Nancy finishes. "Oh, please, tell me you're joking," Robin complains. I laugh and look back at her smirking. "So glad I'm not going now." She glares at me and stares back at the dress. "Come on, you'll look so pretty," I say. She groans and walks over to Nancy, snatching the dress. I laugh at her while she walks out of the room to get changes. I stand and grab Steve's arm. "Let Nancy get dressed," I snap and drag him out of the room.
We're halfway down the stairs when Steve turns me around. "What's up with you?" He asks me, moving closer. I talk a step back and ask, "Is being with me and the kids that bad?" He looks shocked at me and shakes his head. "Of course not. You know I love hanging out with you," He whispers, stepping closer and putting a hand on my cheek. I pull my face away and say, "But the last two times you've been stuck with me you've tried to get out of it," I snap, hating the jealousy slowly filling me. Steve looks at me sadly and sighs. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean it like that," He whispers. "Do you still like Nancy?" I blurt out, knowing it could just make everything worse. Steve looks shocked at me before cupping my face and franticly shaking his head. "No baby. I really don't. I only love you," He whispers, pulling me a little closer. "I know it's probably looked like that, but I promise you, I've only been nervous about my friend, nothing else." I nod and lean up to give Steve a kiss but before I can Nancy's door and the bathroom door opens.
I spring away from Steve and look at them both. I smile at Robin and say, "You do look pretty in that dress." She blushes at me but rolls her eyes. Nancy walks over and hands her a pair of shoes. "Wear these too. It'll work better than what you have," Nancy says, giving Robin a pair of heels. Robin groans again and says, "I'll change them in the car, I'll break an ankle before then." Nancy nods at her and they both start walking towards Steve and I. "What are you two doing in the stairwell anyway?" Nancy asks us, pushing Steve to move. I walk down as well as Steve says, "We were waiting for you two." We get to the front door and I pull Robin into a hug. "Be careful," I whisper and lean back, keeping her at arm's length. She nods and looks back at Nancy. "Ready to go?" Nancy asks her, clearly annoyed about something. Robin nods and they both start the journey to the Asylum. I turn back to Steve and he smiles, grabbing my hand and pulling me into a quick kiss before taking me down to the basement.

Y/n's pov
As soon as we get to Ms Kelly's house, Max jumps out of the car and walks over. Steve and Dustin watch her as I lay down in the back seat. "Okay. She's in," Steve says. I nod but don't look at them. I close my eyes and try to get some sleep. Hopefully to get rid of this headache. "Y/n?" Dustin whispers, but I don't say anything back. I hear some shuffling in the seat before Dustin says, "I'm missing a collarbone, not eyes." I stiffen and listen closely to the conversation. Where is Dustin taking this conversation? Steve doesn't say anything, so Dustin asks, "So, we gonna talk about... it?" "Huh? Sorry, talk about what?" Steve asks. Shit, has Dustin noticed the way Steve's been with me lately? "Your temporary insanity earlier today when you basically threw yourself at Nance?" Dustin tells him. Great, it wasn't just in my head. Dustin noticed it too. "Okay, first of all, that's not what happened." Steve starts but Dustin buts in to say, "Pretty sure that's what happened. It was pretty public. There were a lot of witnesses, including Y/n..." "Are you implying I still have a thing for Nance?" Steve defensively asks. "No. I'm not implying. I'm stating. And, as it relates to your steadfast refusal to date Y/n or Robin, it's pretty much the only logical explanation," Dustin says, a little angry when he says my name. I wonder what that is about.
"That's not the only one," I hear Steve whisper with movement in the front seat after. "And as for Nance, I was just trying to protect a friend. A friend, Henderson. Okay?" Steve snaps at Dustin. "Okay." "Don't wanna find her in the morning with her eyes sucked out the front of her skull by this Vecna creep," Steve defends. "You're bright red in the face right now," Dustin mocks. Dammit, I wish I could see Steve's face right now. "No, I'm not. I don't wanna talk about it with Y/n in the car or ever. I'll punch you so hard your teeth will fall back out," Steve says. I stiffen a little at his last comment, ready to get in the middle of them. "Whoa. Too far," Dustin tells him. They are quiet for a second till they both say not cool and Steve apologizes to Dustin. I really do love these two. Just wish there was a way to figure out if Steve still loved me. They both go quiet and I pick that as the moment to wake up.
"Hey," I whisper, leaning between them both. Steve looks worried at me while Dustin beams. "Hey sleepyhead, you doing alright?" I smile at him and ruffle his hair. "All good over here," I whisper and lean back in my seat, looking at the window to Ms Kelly's house. I still hated this house. After everything that went down with my dad, I was forced by Hopper to come down here and make sure I was ok. Ms Kelly would try and get me to talk for hours and it only ended with me crying and having panic attacks. That did help me feel better though and I wasn't as scared to face men anymore. Just wish the Upside Down didn't bring a whole new mental problem.
"Here she comes. Here she comes," Steve excitedly whisper/yells to Dustin and I. I move over in the back, making sure Max can get in. She jumps into the back and Dustin asks, "What's she say?" "Nothing, just drive," Max tells Steve, slamming the car door closed. "Nothing?" We all ask her. "Steve, drive," Max forcefully says. "Okay," Steve whispers and starts the car, speeding off. Where do we go?" I ask for Steve. "The high school, I have her office key. We can look at Chrissy's file and maybe it will help us," Max explains. Steve nods in the front and puts his foot on the gas pedal more so we get there faster.
"Dustin. It's Lucas. Do you copy? Dustin." Lucas rings through the walkie talky. "Lucas? Where the hell have you been?" Dustin says in the walkie. Thank god he's ok. "Just listen. Are you guys looking for Eddie?" Lucas asks. What the hell is this all about? "Yeah, we found him, no thanks to you," Dustin replies. "You found him?" Lucas asks, seeming to be relieved. I lean forward in my seat as Dustin says, "He's at a boathouse on Coal Mill Road. Don't worry. He's safe." "You guys know he killed Chrissy, right?" Lucas accuses. "That's bullshit. Eddie tried to save Chrissy," Dustin yells. "Then why do all the cops say he did it?" Lucas asks. Max reaches forward and takes the walkie from Dustin. "Lucas, you're so behind it's ridiculous, okay? Just meet us at the school. We'll explain later," Max snaps. "I... I can't. I think some real bad shit's about to go down," Lucas tells us. "What are you talking about? What bad shit?" I ask, interrupting Max. Instead of a reply, static comes through. "Lucas? Lucas?" Max asks into the walkie. "What the hell happened?" I ask, starting to feel worried for the boy on the other end. "I have no clue but we need to get to the school right now," Steve says, speeding quicker to the school.
At the school
We speed down the empty school halls, trying to get to Ms Kelly's office without being seen. Even though there shouldn't be anyone at school anyway. "Dustin, do you copy?" Robin asks through the walkie. Dustin fumbles a little to pick it up but says, "Yeah, I copy. "So, Nancy's a genius. Vecna's first victims date back all the way to 1959. Her shot in the dark was a bull's eye," Robin tells us. Great, now both of my best friends love her. "Okay, that's totally bonkers, but I can't really talk right now," Dustin tells them, all of us walking faster down the school halls. "Wait, what are you doing?" Robin asks him. I take the walkie from him and say, "Breaking and entering the school to retrieve some confidential and extremely personal files." "Can you repeat that?" She asks me. "Just come to the school right now Robs. We'll explain when you get here," I tell her before turning the walkie off.
Max runs in front of us and puts the key into the lock, looking around to make sure no one sees us and opening the door. We all slowly walk in and look around to try and see where the files are. Max and I see them and walk over. "It's like a mini-Watergate or something," Dustin whispers. I block him out and look over Max's shoulder to look at the files. Her fingers fly over them until she gets Chrissy's. "Holy shit," She whispers, looking at the ones closest to her and harder for me to see. "What is it?" I ask her. "You found it?" Steve asks, walking closer." "I did find it, but not just Chrissy's file. Fred was seeing Ms Kelly too," Max tells us. Oh shit, no, this can't be right. My breathing gets heavier as Max pulls out Fred's file. She grabs Chrissy's file and puts it on the desk, giving the other to Steve to read.
Steve sits on the desk and Dustin and I lean over one of Max's shoulders each, Max sitting at the desk chair. She flips through Chrissy's files and skims over everything, Dustin and I doing the same. Max seems to notice something and asks Steve, "Can I see Fred's file?" "Yeah," Steve says and gives it to her. She reads over the notes Ms Kelly wrote and I notice it too. They were both having the same symptoms. Headaches, nosebleeds, constant nightmares and trauma. "Max? What is it?" Dustin asks her, also realising she knows. Wait, I'm having those symptoms. Am I under Vecna's curse? But if Max noticed it... "Max?" I ask, scared to hell that she's gonna be next. Dustin also starts to freak out, calling out for Max. "Max!" I yell and round the table, looking into her eyes. "She's just blankly staring," I whisper, hope blooming a little. "Eddie said Chrissy's eye's rolled back, so she's ok right?" Dustin asks, also concerned about what's happening. The doors burst open and Robin and Nancy come in. "What's going on?" Nancy yells, looking at all of us panicked. Before we can say anything, Max seems to wake up.
"Max," I breathe out and get in her line of sight. She looks at me confused and looks around the room. "How am I back here?" she whispers, Robin and Nancy slowly moving closer. "What happened Max?" I softly ask, reaching for her hands. She looks up a little scared and says, "Something was calling my name. I was following it and there was an old grandfather clock around a corner." I nod and motion to the door. "Show us where it was," I ask, slowly standing up straight. She nods and moves as quickly as she can out the door. Everyone in the room springs into action and we all follow Max down the hall.
We round the corner and stop at a dead end, Max looking at it confused. "It was here. Right here," she says brokenly. "A grandfather clock?" Nancy asks her, Max nodding. "It was so real. And then, when I got closer, suddenly I just... I woke up," Max whispers to us. "It was like she was in a trance or something. Exactly what Eddie said happened to Chrissy," Dustin explains to Robin and Nancy. Max turns to us all and says, "That's not even the bad part." The rest of us look confused and Max walks back to Ms Kelly's office. She moves to the desk again and moves the note sheets for Chrissy and Fred in front of her.
"Fred and Chrissy, they both came to Ms Kelly for help," Max starts to explain to us all while we spread around the desk looking at her. "Uh, they both were having headaches, bad headaches that wouldn't go away. And then... then the nightmares. Trouble sleeping. They'd wake up in a cold sweat. Then they started seeing things," Max explains to us. Robin turns a little in her seat to look at me but I shake my head, not wanting to worry her about this. Steve notices her and gives us a confused look but I shake my head at him as well. We have to focus on Max, not me. She is worse than me right now, if we focus on both of us something will slip. "Bad things. From their pasts. These visions, they just... they kept on getting worse and worse until eventually... everything ended," Max continues. "Vecna's curse," Robin says, spinning back around to look at Max. "Chrissy's headaches started a week ago. Fred's, six days ago. I've been having them for five days. I don't know how long I have. All I know is that, for Fred and Chrissy, they both die less than 24 hours after their first vision. And I just saw that goddam clock, so... looks like I'm gonna die tomorrow," Max says, all of us going quiet.
A loud noise sounds behind us and we all turn around to see what it was. "Stay here," Steve says and starts walking to the door. I shake my head and follow right after him. He picks up the lamp sitting next to the door and walks out. I turn my flashlight off and hold it up, ready to hit something with it. "Do you not listen?" Steve hisses when he realises I'm behind me. I smile at him and shake my head, "Not if you go into danger alone." He smiles softly at me but rolls his eyes, moving down the hall again. As we walk I notice everyone else coming out the door behind us. Ha, no one listens to Steve. Another loud sound happens and I look around again, hoping to find the source. Loud footsteps start sounding in the hallway leading to us so Steve and I hold up our makeshift weapons. As someone comes around the corner, Steve starts to yell and moves closer to the person. They start yelling as well and step away from Steve. "Hey! It's me!" Lucas yells in a broken voice. "Lucas?" Nancy asks. "It's me," Lucas yells a little quieter. "Jesus, what's wrong with you Sinclair," Steve asks. "I'm sorry," He says. "I could've taken you out with this lamp!" Steve yells at him. "Sorry guys. Sorry," Lucas apologizes. Steve drops the lamp behind him as Lucas explains breathlessly, "I was... I was biking for eight miles. Give me a second. Shit." Lucas bends over near the wall and tries to catch his breath. "We've got a code red," Lucas tells us. "What?" Steve asks in disbelief.
Lucas moves past Steve and I and walks over to Dustin. "Dustin," He says while walking over. "I've been with Jason, Patrick and Andy, and they've gone like totally off the rails. They're trying to capture Eddie, and they think you know where he is. You're in terrible danger," Lucas explains. I stiffen and move over to the boys. "All right. Yeah, that definitely sucks, but we've got bigger problems than Jason now," Dustin says. He looks back at Max but she looks away from our eyes. "We need to go, now!" I say, pushing the boys to the car. "What?" Lucas and Dustin say. Everyone else follows behind but doesn't say a word. "We are getting out of this school. We are going to lay low. And we are going to work out how the hell we are stopping this thing," I tell them, looking ahead to the door. Robin comes up behind me and grabs my elbow. "Y/n," She whispers, drawing my attention to her. I look over and see her nervousness. "I'll explain later," I whisper to her, knowing exactly what she wants to talk about. "Where are we going?" Steve asks as we get to the cars. I turn back to the group and look around, wondering where would be the safest place to go right now. "You guys could hide out in my basement. We hid El there for a long time, you should be no problem," Nancy tells us. We nod and get into the car, speeding off to the Wheelers as fast as we can.

“Let’s get moving already!!” Robin yells from my car, beeping the horn over and over to get me out of the house. I roll my eyes and look back into my old empty home. It looks as empty as always but it still feels like it’s missing something. Or like me leaving is making a difference to the place. As I move to close the door, to forget about this home once and for all, another horn sounds from my left. Speeding down the street is Eddie’s van, Nancy leaning out the window and waving at us. “Oh god,” I whisper and make my way over to my car.
“God she looks so hot right now,” Robin whispers as I move next to her and Eddie pulls into my driveway. “If you made a move by now then maybe she’d already be yours,” I whisper to her, earning me a push in the arm and a fond, ‘Dingus’. “What are you two gossiping about over here?” Eddie asks as he comes bounding down the driveway. “How bad your driving was. You could’ve really hurt someone driving like that,” Robin jokes. Eddie pokes his tongue at her and Robin gives him one back. Neither of them stops even after they should have.
“If you’re both done, I’d really like to get on the road already,” Nancy states while coming up behind Eddie. “Leave them be for a sec. I wanna see who wins this,” I laugh and walk over to Nancy. She rolls her eyes but nods. “They could stay like this forever if we don't step in to stop them,” Nancy says after some time has passed of the two of them just staring at each other with their tongues out. “You're right but if one of them stops now then we can finally start our journey and I can get someone some ice cream on the way,” I tease, hoping that Robin would stop.
Instantly, Robin looks over at us and smiles. “Well let’s get going already, I want some ice cream!!” She exclaims and ducks back into the car. Eddie turns to us and gives a triumphant smile. I smile back at him as he says, “Thanks for that, sweetheart. I just won.” I blush and shrug my shoulders, walking back over to the driver's side of my car and opening the door. “Get in your van so I can get out Eds, or no ice cream for you." Eddie's eyes go wide and he runs back to his car, grabbing onto Nancy on the way. I laugh at Eddie’s antics and shake my head, jumping into my car and starting it up. Getting ready for our drive to our new home.
In their Chicago Apartment
“It’s so big in here!” Eddie gasps out loud, spinning around a few times to take the place in. The rest of us give a giggle at his actions and put down the last of the boxes we’ve been bringing up. “It’s a normal-sized apartment Eddie,” Robin says as she lays face down on the couch, clearly exhausted from the moving. “Not to me. I’ve been living in a show box for my whole life. This is so much bigger,” Eddie says, moving over to the couch and landing on top of Robin causing her to groan. “Come on, help us unpack some of this stuff before it gets dark. We are going to need some of this tomorrow,” I yell over to the two of them as Nancy and I start opening a few of the boxes labelled ‘Kitchen Stuff’ in Eddie’s scribbly handwriting. “But we’re tired!” Robin yells back at me, poking her head above the couch and giving me her best puppy dog eyes. “Yeah Stevie, we wanna rest for a minute,” Eddie says next, doing the very same thing as Robin.
I look between the two and sign, turning around so I don’t have to look at them anymore and they don't notice my blush. Eddie woops in triumph and more ruffling occurs over near the couch. “You are way too nice to them both,” Nancy whispers to me as she moves over. I smirk at her and tease, “If they were looking at you, you’d be reacting in the exact same way Nance.” She scoffs and shakes her head. Before she turns away from me though I notice a slight blush spread across her cheeks. We work the rest of the kitchen stuff into its place and turn to find both Robin and Eddie asleep on the couch. “They really were tired from all the driving and the moving,” Nancy whispers to me and walks over to the two of them. “Yeah, they’ll never lie about needing to sleep,” I whisper back and sit down on the loveseat next to the couch.
“They look really cute like this,” I whisper over to Nancy who is sitting on the coffee table facing them as well. She nods and runs her hand through Robin's hair without noticing. Robin groans a little but doesn’t stir too much. “Should we leave them here and finally go to sleep?” Nancy asks, turning slightly to face me. I shrug and look over at the two of them. They switched places before they got to sleep. Eddie is now lying on his back with Robin lying on his chest. My two favourite people sleeping together. So nice. “Nah, they’ll be cranky if we let them sleep all night on the couch,” I whisper and walk over to the three of them.
Nancy takes her hand off Robin and I start to shake her, trying to slowly wake her up. She groans and digs her face more into Eddie's chest, causing him to groan out as well. “Come on you two, you need to get into your own beds,” I say, shaking Robin again while Nancy starts to tap Eddie on the forehead. “I’m comfy here though,” Eddie wines, swatting at Nancy’s hand. I laugh at him and start to help Robin up. “If you get up now you can sleep in my bed then?” I ask, not really understanding why the thought made me a little nervous. Robin gives me a tired confused look while Eddie gets up excited. “Really?” He asks all excited and almost knocks Robin and me down in the process. “How about I take Robin to bed and you take Eddie to yours?” Nancy asks, giving me a very confused look. I blush and nod my head, moving Robin over to her. “Make sure she is on her side, she’ll kill me if she doesn’t fall asleep like that,” I tell Nancy as I let Robin move over to her. She nods at me and leads Robin towards what might be Robin’s new room.
I turn to Eddie to find him looking at me like an excited puppy, with no sign of sleep anywhere on him. I smile and gesture toward the hallway. He immediately runs in the direction of a bedroom and out of my sight. I laugh and slowly walk down the hall, noticing Nancy tucked into a bed with Robin in her arms. Dam they are really cute together. I look into another bedroom but find it empty so I continue on until I find Eddie already curled up in a bed, slowly falling back to sleep. I smile at him again and crawl in behind him, trying not to wake him from whatever he is dreaming about.

Y/n's pov
Steve had kept his promise. He dropped Max and Dustin home and then took Robin and I to his instead of our own homes, which neither of us minded. The rest of the night, Robin and Steve were talking to me about everything I yelled about and tried to get me to see reason. When I wasn't in the middle of my panic attack, I realised that I had freaked out a little too much. Steve had also pulled back from me a little. Would only come near me when I asked him to and didn't give me any surprise kisses when I was walking around the house. Robin was the only one who tried to be normal. We slept in a guest room so that we could all fit in the bed and even then it was a struggle to get in the bed. Maybe I stuffed up our relationship.
The next morning we grabbed some stuff for Eddie before we made the trip to get the kids, Steve driving again so I didn't have to worry. When we picked Dustin up from his house he got into the car slowly and looked at me worried. "How are you feeling this morning Y/n?" He asks. I smile back at him from the front seat and say, "I'm ok today Dusty. I'm really sorry that I scared you though. You shouldn't have seen that," I explain, hoping that it could help him feel better. "Are you sure?" He whispers, leaning forward in the chair. I turn to face him and smile. "I'm ok, now how about you turn that frown upside down and we go get Max so we can get to Eddie," I say, pinching his cheek. He laughs at me and nods his head.
We pull up to Reefer Rick's house and quickly make our way to the boathouse. "You think he heard us come in?" Steve asks me, putting a hand on my lower back. I lean back into his hand and say, "Probably, hopefully we don't scare him too much this time." We smile at each other while Dustin loudly throws the door open. "Jesus..." Eddie yells and points the broken beer bottle at us. "Delivery service," Dustin smiles at him, Robin and him holding up the plastic bags while Steve, Max and I lean over the threshold. Eddie tries to catch his breath, looking outside again. When he looks back he and Steve lock eyes, Steve giving Eddie a smile and a finger wave. "God you're adorable," I whisper, causing Steve to blush. Eddie moves over to us and grabs a few bags from Dustin. "What you get me Harrington?" He asks Steve, moving over to a table. "Uh, food and drinks. Thought you would need those," Steve awkwardly tells him. Eddie laughs at him and grabs a cereal box before sitting down inside the boat in the middle of the room. We all move to sit and stand around him, watching as he stuffs his face with dry cereal.
"So we got, uh, some good news and some bad news," Dustin tells Eddie as he sits down. Eddie looks at him while Dustin asks, "How do you prefer it?" "Bad news first, always," Eddie says his old phrase. God, I do miss this. "All right. Bad news. We tapped into the Hawkins PD dispatch with our Cerebro, and they're definitely looking for you," Dustin explains, Eddie's face getting more sour and blank as Dustin continues. "Also, they're, uh, pretty convinced you killed Chrissy," Dustin says, with little sympathy. "Dustin," I snap, hoping he wouldn't tell Eddie all of that like he just did. "Like, 100% kind of convinced," Max adds, much calmer than Dustin. "And the good news?" Eddie asks Dustin, panic rising in his voice. "Your name hasn't gone public yet. But if we found out about you, it's a matter of time before others do." Robin adds. "And once that gets out, everyone and their shallow-minded mother is gonna be gunning for you," I also say, realising the panic that this town could go in. "Hunt the freak, right?" Eddie asks, looking at Robin and I. "Exactly," Robin says, seeming to understand what Eddie is talking about. "Shit," Eddie whispers.
"So, before that happens, we find Vecna, kill him and prove your innocence," Dustin says, seeming to have an ok plan. "That's all Dustin? That's all?" Eddie asks him sarcastically. "Yeah, no, that's pretty much it," Dustin says, his voice breaking at the start. "Listen, Eddie, I know everything Dustin is saying sounds totally delusional, but we've actually been through this before. I mean, they have a... a few times, as Y/n said last night, and... and I have once." Robin explains, Eddie looking over at Steve and I for confirmation. Steve relaxes a little and nods his head at him. "Mine was more human-flesh-based, theirs was more smoke-related, but the bottom line is, collectively, I really feel we got this." Robin continues to tell Eddie so he feels less crazy. "We usually rely on this girl who has superpowers. But, uh, those went bye-bye so..." Steve tells Eddie. I smile at him while Robin says, "So we're technically in more of the..." "Brainstorming phase," Max ends for her all. We all point at her and agree. "I always hated that phrase," I say, leaning against Steve. He laughs at me and wraps his arm around me. "There... There's nothing to worry about," Dustin poorly tries to reassure Eddie. Steve scoffs at him and Dustin gives him a confused look. Steve looks down at him and realises his mistake and they both turn back to Eddie smiling and nodding.
Eddie looks at them confused and quickly asks, "Can I speak to you both real quick?" Pointing at Steve and I. We both nod and get everyone else to walk out. "You ok with this?" Robin quickly asks me before leaving. Steve scoff cause he wasn't asked while I nod. "I'll come to get you when we're done, still gotta work out those date stuff." Robin nods at me and runs after the kids. "So, what's up?" Steve asks Eddie, taking Dustin's seat. I follow his lead and sit at the end of the boat. "Is this what you were talking about?" Eddie whispers, shoving another handful of cereal in his mouth. "What do you mean?" I ask him, slightly confused about what he's referring to. He looks over to Steve and says, "That night." Steve freezes and looks behind us, making sure no one else is around. Eddie scoffs at him and says, "Of course, still thinking of your image." Steve turns back to him and glares. "What the hell does that mean Munson?" Steve snaps at him, standing from his seat. Eddie does the same, dropping the cereal next to him. "You know exactly what that means," Eddie snaps back. "Will you two stop it!" I yell at them, hating that they started so quickly. Eddie's head snaps to me and growls. "He tell you what he did? Explain what I had to go through?" Eddie asks, walking slowly over to me.
I stand up from the boat and move out of his way. "He did. And I'm sorry for that but he's only human," I try to defend Steve. Eddie scoffs at me and shakes his head. "Steve always does the worse thing, and you still stand with him. Neither of you changed," Eddie whispers, venom throughout his voice. I feel my cheeks heat up and anger starts to build. "Fuck you Munson! We are trying to help you and all you do is berate us!" I yell at him, realising too late that the others might hear me. Eddie moves over to me but Steve comes over and pulls Eddie away. "If you want an answer, yes, this is what I was talking about," Steve snaps, keeping Eddie away from me. "You both deserve each other!" Eddie yells, moving back to the boat. "What the hell is going on in here?" Dustin yells.
I look over to him to find him stomping over to us. "Dustin, stay out of this. This is adult business and you don't need to worry about it.," I tell him, trying to calm my anger so I don't take it out of him. "No, this is not how it's gonna go," He snaps, walking over to me and blocking me from both boys. "What is going on in here?" He asks again. I shake my head and say, "Nothing Dustin. Just drop it. It's got nothing to do with you," I tell him, trying to move around him. Robin and Max had also rounded the corner, looking at all of us confused. "No!" Dustin snaps, causing me to step back and put my hands up. Dustin doesn't notice my reaction and says, "You're my cousin, pretty much my older sister. If it concerns you, it concerns me!" He snaps, tears building up in his eyes. I bring my hands down, smiling softly at him. "Dustin..." I start, until sirens can be heard in the distance.
"Shit," Steve whispers and Robin says, "Tarp. Tarp. Tarp." Pointing at Eddie to hide under the tarp. The rest of us run over to the window closest to the sound and look out. We watch as police cars and ambulances drive past. "Let's go!" I say and run out the door, hoping everyone else follows behind me. I stop at my car, realising I didn't have the keys and turn to see everyone else following after me. Steve runs around my car and opens it, all of us jump into the car. Steve drives off as soon as everyone is in, heading in the same direction we saw the cop cars go in.
As we pull up to the scene, I notice Nancy talking to a couple of officers, looking over at us as we pull up. "Nancy's here," I whisper, looking over at Steve. He shuts the car off and looks up to see her as well. "That can't be good," He whispers, all of us getting out of the car and looking over at her. She secretly waves at us while talking to the officer, Steve waving back at her. She says a little more to the officer before walking over to us. "Meet me at the trailer park," she says to Steve. He nods and we all get into the car again, Nancy getting into her own. We drive in silence to the trailer park, not really understanding what we are getting ourselves into.
When we finally get to the park, we get out of both cars and sit down at a picnic table. "What happened?" I ask, not really wanting to stay in silence anymore. Nancy slightly glares at me but says, "They found Fred in the middle of the road. All his bones were broken, his eyes completely white." We nod and look at each other, already knowing it's connected to Chrissy. "What is it?" Nancy asks, probably hating that she wasn't in the loop. We all go into an explanation about what Max had seen the night Chrissy died and also about what Eddie had seen. When they started to talk about Chrissy I slightly blanked out, looking over at Eddie's trailer. I hope Wayne's ok. He would have been the one to see the boy. Hopefully, he's somewhere safe.
"You're saying that this thing that killed Fred and Chrissy, it's from the Upside Down?" Nancy asks when everyone explains everything. I look back at the group, working out where we are up to. "If the shoe fits," Steve says, moving slowly to grab onto my hand. He squeezes and I make sure no one else notices it. "Our working theory is that he attacks with a spell or a curse. Now whether or not he's doing the bidding of the Mind Flayer or just loves killing teens, we don't know," Dustin explains. "All we know is this is something different. Something new," Max tells Nancy. "It doesn't make sense," Nancy says, looking down at the table. "It's only a theory," Dustin defends. "No, Fred and Chrissy don't make sense. I mean, why them?" Nancy clarifies. "Maybe they were just in the wrong place," Dustin reasons. Nah, there has to be more to it than that. More to the story. As the thought comes to mind, I feel my head start to pound a little, a headache starting. Dam it, not now. I let go of Steve's hands and put my head on them, leaning on the table while trying to listen to everyone. "They were both at the game," Dustin continues. "And near the trailer park," Max adds. "We're at the trailer park. Uhhhh, should we not be here?" Steve says a little worried, putting a hand on my lower back.
Everyone goes silent for a second until Nancy speaks up to say, "There is something about this place. Fred started acting weird the second we got here." "Acting weird as in...?" Robin asks, not finishing the question. "Scared, on edge, upset," Nancy answers. My head lifts from my head and I say, "Chrissy was upset that day too. But she wasn't upset here, it was at the school." I look to Nancy and explain, "She was jumpy and looked sad when I saw her in the bathroom. She wasn't her normal happy and bubbly self." "Serial killers stalk their prey before they strike, right? So, maybe Fred and Chrissy saw this Vecman..." Robin asks, her random facts coming in handy. "Vecna," Dustin corrects. "I dunno about you guys but if I saw some freaky wizard monster, I would mention it to someone," Steve add in. "Maybe they did," Max says, leaning forward a little over the table. "I saw Chrissy leaving Ms Kelly's office. If you saw a monster, you... you wouldn't go to the police. They'd never believe you. But you might go to your..." Max continues to tell us until Robin interrupts and says, "Your shrink." Max looks over at her and nods.
"I know where Ms Kelly lives, let's go there," Max says, nodding at the rest of us to get up. We all quickly walk over to our cars, everyone else opening the doors for mine. "Whoa, whoa, Nance. Nance!" Steve yells, walking towards her. The hell? She turns to him and he asks, "You gonna take someone with you?" "I wanna check something first. I'll see you all after," She explains, continuing to walk towards her car. "Something you maybe wanna share with the rest of us?" Dustin asks her. "I don't wanna waste your time. It's a real shot in the dark," She tells us. "Yeah, okay. Are you out of your mind? Flying solo with this Vecna creep on the loose?" Steve asks her. "No, it's too dangerous. You need... You need someone to..." He tries to explain but stops. He turns to the rest of us and throws my keys at me. "Here you go. I'll stick with Nance, alright?" He tells me, giving me an apologetic look. What the fuck is he thinking right now? "You guys take the car, check out this shrink." "I don't think it's a good idea for Y/n to drive," Robin speaks up. Steve looks confused then remembers why and says, "Well you can drive." "I don't think I should drive Y/n's car either," Robin argues. "Why?" He asks. "I don't have a license," Robin continues. "Why? Don't you have a license?" He asks. "I'm poor. And Y/n takes me everywhere," Robin responds.
"I can drive," Max exclaims. "No!" Steve and I say at the same time. "Never again. Please. Anybody but you. No," Steve pleads. Dustin tilts his head, probably giving Steve a face but Steve points and says, "No chance." "Come on." Dustin pleads. "All right, okay. This is stupid," Robin finally says, grabbing the keys from me and walking over to Steve and Nancy. "Us ladies will stick together," Robin tells Steve, giving him my keys. She makes it to Nancy and turns back around to ask, "Unless you think we need you to protect us?" Steve nods at her while Robin smirks at him. She turns around to Nancy's car, Nancy following behind her. "Be careful!" Steve yells at them both. I roll my eyes and jump into the back seat, having enough of Steve giving Nancy hearty eyes. Max slides in next to me and asks, "You ok?" I nod and look over at the boys. "I'm good," I whisper, wanting to get out of here right now. "Wipe your feet," Steve tells Dustin as they get in. Dustin looks at him and starts to wipe his feet inside my car. I laugh while Steve says. "On the outside, not the inside." Steve puts the key into the car and yells, "Always the babysitter. Always the goddamn babysitter!" He starts the car and makes his way to Ms Kelly's house. He looks in the review mirror at me, to make sure I'm okay but I look away. Maybe he really does still have feelings for Nancy.

Steve's pov
"Have you seen or heard from Eddie recently?" Dustin asks into the phone for what felt like the 100th time. "Eddie Munson," Max says into another phone. God, why has no one heard from him? I ignore them both and try to focus on the work I was meant to be doing right now. Shit, Y/n's been asleep for a really long time. I hope she's ok. "All right. DoctorZhivago. It's a double VHS. It's long. But that's because it's filled with action and romance, and a little bit of suspense," I flirt a little, feeling worse than I normally do. "So, my boyfriend won't, like, totally puke when I bring it home?" She asks me, filling me with so much happiness. "Oh, you... your boyfriend?" I try to pretend. God, I sound so dumb right now. "Uh, no. He's gonna... He's gonna love it," I tell her. I help her check out around the chaos of the kids and Robin and then let her out of the store, saying see ya as she walks away.
As I walk over to the counter, Max slams the phone down and says, "Hey guys, I might have a lead." Robin puts her phone down and Dustin spins to face her. "Seriously?" He asks, excitement written all over his face. "Yeah. Apparently, Eddie gets drugs from some guy named Reefer Rick, and sometimes Eddie crashes there," Max explains to us. "That sounds promising," Robin says. Why does that name sound so familiar though? "Where does this Reefer Rick guy live?" Robin asks. "See, that's the thing. No one knows. He's more of a... a legend than someone that people actually know," Max says, the rest of us deflating. "Well, what about a last name?" Dustin asks her. "I don't know that either," Max tells us. "I bet the cops know the last name," I put in. "What?" Max questions. "The cops," I repeat and move over to the trolly with the VHS tapes. "I mean, listen, if this Reefer Rock is actually a drug dealer, I guarantee you he's been busted at some point. Means he's in the system," I tell them, moving to lean over the counter. "The cops? Really Steve? That's your suggestion?" Dustin asks in disbelief. "I mean, I just think they should be filled in on what we know, what's going on," I say. "You think Eddie's guilty, don't you?" Dustin asks me, sending a knife through my heart. Of course not, he's the sweetest person I know. "Whoa, Whoa, Whoa. I believe in innocent until proven guilty, all that constitutional shit. I just, you know, don't think we can rule it out," I say, hating the words as soon as they leave my mouth.
"That's precisely what we're trying to do here Steve," Max says to me. Dustin points back at her in agreement and says, "And maybe we'd have a little bit more luck if you spent less time trying to find a girlfriend and more time trying to find Eddie." "Oh well somebody has to attend to the customers," I exclaim. "Especially if they're babes right?" Robin tease, helping me a little bit. "Hey, not fair. Okay? I attend to all customers equally, babes and non-babes alike," I ramble, hearing the bell go off at some point. "We've got a very big selection in here. It can be super overwhelming for people," I explain. "Yeah, it can be," Robin says, seeming to get an idea. She jumps onto the computer and Max and Dustin look at her confused. "What are you doing?" Max asks her. "Maybe we don't need a last name," Robin says, typing into the computer. "What are you all doing?" I hear a voice say. I look over to find a very sleepy Y/n coming out of the back room. "They're trying to find a guy called Reefer Rick. Hoping the computer has the right one." I explain to her. I slowly move over to her while the other three focus on the computer. "I know where he lives," Y/n says, catching the attention of everyone around the computer. "What?" Dustin asks.
Y/n's pov
I wake up in the back room to no Steve and a very sore head. God, I hate crying and then sleeping. I leave the break room to find Dustin, Robin and Max around the store computer. Oh, thank god Max is ok. I let out a breath and hear, "Maybe we don't need a last name," from Robin. "What are you all doing?" I ask them but none of them turn around to look at me. I look around as Steve explains, "They're trying to find a guy called Reefer Rick. Hoping the computer has the right now." Wait, what? Why the hell are they looking for Rick? Without thinking I say, "I know where he lives." Robin, Max and Dustin all look over to me as Dustin yells, "What?" I shrink a little and wrap my arms around myself. "I um, know where to find Reefer Rick," I tell them, looking at Robin for help. Out of everyone in the room, she was still the only person that knew that I used drugs. She nods and before Dustin can say anything she says, "Then lets go." I nod and notice a customer at the counter. Robin stands from her seat and we double-check he's the last person while Steve serves him.
"You okay?" She asks me when we are out of earshot. I nod and tell her, "Yeah, let's just not tell them why I know where he lives." She nods and we come back to the rest of the group. "All right, let's go already!" Dustin snaps and throws me my car keys. I nod and we all run out of the store, Robin the last one out and closing the store. I jump into my car, Steve hopping into the back seat with Max and Dustin while Robin jumps into the front seat. I start the engine and speed out of the car park. "So, why are we going to Reefer Rick's?" I ask them. They all look at each other, trying to work out who the hell is going to say what's happening. "All you need to know is that a body was found in Eddie's trailer and we think he's hiding at Reefer Ricks," Dustin finally says. I try to nod and smile at him but my heart rate picks up. Robin and Steve notice, Steve giving me a soft look while Robin squeezes my hand. God, I really hope they are joking right now.
At Reefer Ricks
By the time we get to Reefer Rick's night has fallen. "You couldn't have told us that it was really far away?" Dustin says as we all get out of the car. "Well, normally that's the last thing on my mind," I snap, looking around the area. I go to the boot of my car and give everyone a flashlight so we can move around safely. The main house has all of the lights off, not a single thing is out of place. Dustin and Steve walk over to the front door, a flashlight in Steve's hand as well as Dustin, and Dustin rings the bell over and over again. He starts to press it over and over again before Steve says, "Okay. Well, that's settled. I guess he's not here." Before I can suggest going to the boat house, Dustin starts knocking and yelling, "Eddie! It's Dustin! Look, we just wanna talk, okay? No cops, I swear. We just wanna help." Robin and I look through the windows, trying to see if there is any movement inside. Dustin continues to bang on the door and call out for Eddie. Robin shushes him and looks a little closer into the house. Dustin ignores her and starts to ring the doorbell, knock on the door and call for Reefer Rick.
"Let's check down at the boat house, I doubt Eddie would be up in the house anyway if he is hiding," I tell them, pointing over at the small shed near the lake. "Sounds good," Steve whispers and we all walk over to it. I walk in front of the group and quickly look through a window, not seeing anything. I slowly open the door and Robin comes up behind me and says, "Hello. Is anyone home?" We all slowly walk into the boat house, splitting up. I stick with Max and Robin while Steve and Dustin go to the other side. "What a dump," Steve says, looking around the room. I look over the benches and hear Steve and Dustin arguing over something. God, just for once can they not? "Hey, look over here," Max whispers over to Robin and I. We both quickly make our way over to her and look down at the bench. "Someone was here," Max tells us. I nod while Robin says, "Maybe he heard us. Got spooked and ran." "Don't worry. Steve will get him with his oar," Dustin sarcastically tells us. "I know you think you're being funny, but considering everyone in this room has nearly died a hundred times, personally, I don't find it funny in the slight..." Something jumps out of the tarp that Steve was just poking and Steve is dragged across the room and pushed against a wall. "Wait! Wait! Wait! Wait! Wait!" Steve yells over and over, but the person wasn't listening.
Eddie's pov
A car pulls up to the house and I freeze. Fuck. Did someone find me already? I look out the window and try to figure out whose car it is, but I can't tell from this distance and it being dark outside. Flashlights start to come down the hill towards me and I run over to the boat and hid under the tarp. I grab a beer bottle that I had stashed for something like this. The group of people walk into the boat house and I wait for the right moment. Oh fuck, I'm gonna die. I listen as they all spread out the room, trying to work out how many there are but I can't focus on it. Something starts to poke into the tarp and I freak out more. What if they feel me under here? I hold my breath and try not to make any noises when the oar hits me. When I hear the person start to yell something and stop poking me, I scream and jump out of the tarp, grabbing onto the closest person and shoving them against a wall. They scream at me but I can't hear what they are saying.
I stare at this person in anger but my eyes are too blurry to realise who I'm holding. "Whoa, whoa, whoa, Eddie! Eddie! Stop!" Someone yells at me. "Eddie! Eddie!" The person yells at me. I look over to the person and notice a group of people standing around the one yelling. Who the hell are these people? "It's me. It's Dustin," Dustin calmly tells me. "This is Steve," He explains, pointing at the person in my arms. "He's not gonna hurt you, right, Steve?" Dustin continues. I look at Steve and watch as he nods his head, whispering, "Right. Yeah." Shit, that shouldn't have sounded as good as it did. "Steve, why don't you drop the oar?" Dustin asks Steve. A bang sounds behind me, scarring me, so I push more into Steve and press the bottle more to his neck. Steve groans at the contact while Dustin raises his voice saying, "He's cool. He's cool." "I'm cool, Eds. I'm cool," Steve whispers to me, using his old nickname for me. I loosen my grip on him after hearing it and look into Steve's eyes. Fear shines through but something else is hidden in there. What the hell is that emotion?
"What are you doing here?" I ask him, not anyone else in the room. "We're looking for you," Dustin replies instead. "We're here to help," Someone else whispers. I look over to see Robin has stepped forward a little bit. "Eddie, these are my friends. You know Robin, from band," Dustin introduces, pointing at Robin while she imitates a trumpet. "This is my friend Max. The one who never wants to play Dnd," He points to the other girl, her giving me a wave. He goes to point to someone behind him but they step in front of him and place him behind them. "Eddie, I need you to let him go," they whisper to me. I look up to see Y/n softly smiling at me, the one she used to always use when I was freaking out about things.
Y/n's pov
I pull Dustin behind me and whisper to Eddie to let Steve go. I try giving him a smile but I don't know how well it comes across. He looks at me confused but my gaze flicks to Steve. As much as I trust Eddie, watching him push Steve against the wall and hold the bottle to his neck is freaking me out. My heart rate is beating so fast and I'm trying to control my breathing but it doesn't feel like it's working. "We're here to help you Eds. We're on your side," I whisper to him. He tenses a little and I yell, "I swear on Dustin's mother!" He looks confused at me but Dustin says, "On my mother." Everyone else slowly follows, saying they swear on Dustin's mother. Eddie stares down at Steve still, I step forward without him noticing and he pushes Steve back and walks away.
As soon as the bottle is away from Steve I run over to him and cup his face. "You ok?" I whisper, tears building in my eyes. He tries to smile at me and nod but he only really smiles. I turn back around and watch as Dustin slowly walks towards a blank Eddie sliding down the wall. "Eddie..." Dustin whispers to him. Dustin slowly crouches in front of Eddie and says, "We just want to talk." He reaches out to touch Eddie, the rest of us moving closer, but Eddie flinches and Dustin motions for us to stay away. "Okay?" Dustin whisper. Robin crouches next to Dustin and I follow just next to her, right next to Eddie. "We want to know what happened," Robin says. Eddie doesn't say anything until a broken, "You won't believe me." He shakes his head and looks at us all. "Try us," Max whispers to him. I look back at Max to find her and Eddie staring at each other intently.
Eddie nods at her and starts to talk about how he took Chrissy to his trailer for drugs and what happened while in the trailer. I sit down in between Steve and Robin and listen to every single detail. "Her body just, like, lifted up into the air and, uh... And she just, like, hung there. In the air. And her bones... Uh, she... Her bones started to snap. Her eyes, man. It... It was like there was something, like, inside her head, pulling. I... didn't know what to do, so I...I," Eddie explains to us, looking off blankly at the wall. "I ran away," He whispers. Oh god. This is my fault. I told Chrissy to go to Eddie. I lead her to him. If I never said that Eddie sold drugs, she never would have died in his trailer. I stand quickly from my seat and look out the window, holding my hand over my mouth and trying not to let anyone hear me silently cry. We need to focus on Eddie, not my stupid breakdown.
"I left her there," I hear Eddie whisper. Everyone stays quiet, processing everything that Eddie just said. I hear a scoff and then Eddie saying, "You all think I'm crazy, right?" "No. We don't think you're crazy," Dustin tells him, I nod but don't turn around, looking out at the forest. "Don't bullshit me, man! I know how this sounds," Eddie snaps at him. "We're not bullshitting you," Max says seriously. "We believe you," Robin adds. "Look, what I'm about to tell you might be a little... difficult to take," Dustin starts off. "Okay," Eddie whispers. "You know how people say Hawkins is... cursed?" Dustin asks him. I turn back around to watch them all but stay at the window, leaning against it so I'm as far away as possible. Eddie looks at him blankly so Dustin continues, "They're not... way off. There's another world. A world hidden beneath Hawkins. Sometimes it bleeds into ours." "Like ghosts and shit?" Eddie asks, obviously confused about the whole thing. "There are some things worse than ghosts," Max tells him. "These monsters from this other world... we thought they were gone. But they've come back before. That's why we needed to find you." Dustin continues to tell him. "If they're back again, we need to know," Max tells him.
"That night, did you see anything?" Robin asks him, trying to work out if we were dealing with the right thing. "Dark particles, maybe?" Max asks. Eddie shakes his head but they aren't happy with that. "It would almost look like dust, swirling dust," Dustin tries to prompt. "No, man, there was nothing you could see or, uh... or touch," Eddie says, shaking his head at the start. I look over at Steve to find him looking at Eddie with concern. "You know, I tried to wake her man. She couldn't move. It was like she... she was in a trance or something." Eddie continues to explain to us. "Or under a spell," Dustin says. Eddie's eyes flick up to Dustin's and whispers, "A curse." "Vecna's curse," Dustin replies. "What is with us and making everything a Dnd thing," I whisper to myself, causing Robin to snicker in front of me. "Who's Vecna?" Steve asks. "An undead creature of great power," I tell him, not liking where this could go. "A spell caster," Eddie adds on. "A dark wizard," Dustin adds more. Without another word, I walk out the door of the boat house and walk towards the tree line.
"Y/N!" I hear someone yell behind me, but I don't look back to check. I walk off to the closes tree and swing at it with my fist. I start to punch it over and over again until arms wrap around my middle and pull me away. "No!" I scream and try to go back to punching the tree. "It's okay. I've got you," I hear a voice whisper in my ear. I let a sob break from my throat and let tears pour from my eyes. "It's all my fault, Steve," I whisper, falling onto the ground. He follows after me and wraps his arms around me. "You had nothing to do with this Y/n. You couldn't have stopped this." He tries to reassure me. I shake my head and break from his arms, standing up and looking at him. "There's a reason I knew where Reefer Rick's was," I say, trying to keep eye contact with him. "Y/n," Robin whispers, coming closer to us both, the other three close behind. "I've been taking drugs since all of this shit went down," I snap, letting my emotions get the better of me. Steve looks at me concerned and walks closer. "I'm confused right now N/n," He whispers, trying to make sure I calm down. He reaches for my hends but I pull away from him.
I shake out my hands and notice that blood is slowly coming out of the cuts I got from the trees. I should fix them soon. "After the whole Jason shit that day, I spent the afternoon till I left with Ms Kelly," I explain, something Steve already knew. "Y/n," I hear Robin whisper again, getting closer to me. I look up at her apologetically and say, "Before I left to go to Family Video like normal, I had a smoke in the bathroom." She stops and looks more concerned than before. "How does this have anything to do with what is happening?" Max snaps at me. "Chrissy came in while I was smoking. Something we've done 100 times by now. But this was different. She was jumpy. She asked me where she could get some fucking drugs. I was gonna say here but Rick's in jail right now. I said she should go to Eddie," I say, whispering the last part. Eddie stiffens a little but I ignore him and look up to Steve. "I shouldn't have told her 'cause now I've done it again," I whisper to him, breaking down even more. Steve tries to step towards me, but I take a step back. "What did you do again?" Dustin asks me. I look over at him and see that he's more concerned than I have ever seen him.
I look back at Steve while Robin walks closer. "I dragged you into this. You wouldn't have come back if I wasn't there," I point out. Steve tries to shake his head to argue but I stop him. "I let the boys bring Max into this mess. I'm the one that's meant to protect them," I continue, still stepping away whenever Steve tries to get closer. "I got Robin and me the job at Scoops. I let her help us with that stupid code. I was the one that thought of Erica helping us to get into the base. I let her go in alone!" I yell, running my hands through my hair, trying to calm myself. "I told Chrissy where she can get some drugs and dragged Eddie into this mess too!" I continue to yell, my emotions spill all over the place. Robin finally reaches me and wraps her arms around me. "I was meant to keep the ones I love safe," I whisper to her, collapsing in her open arms.
Steve runs over to us and places his hands on my cheeks to try and ground me. "I need you to breathe," he whispers, trying to take a deep breath. I shake my head at him as more tears fall from my eyes. "I need you to copy Robin's breathing baby," Steve whispers to me, putting his forehead on mine. I try to follow Robin's breath but mine was breaky and uneven. "I can't breath," I panic, knowing I can but my mind is all over the place. "Y/n," I hear a small whisper say beside me. I look over and find Dustin looking up at me with so much concern. "Dustin," I whimper, hating that I've caused him to feel this way. "I need you to calm down please," He whispers, grabbing onto my hand and looking into my eyes. I try to follow his breathing and Robins, both of them going up and down at the same time. "Okay I'm good," I say to them all, trying to break away. Dustin breaks from me but Steve and Robin both hold onto me. "You are lying to the wrong people love," Robin says, running a hand up and down my back. I laugh at her and shake my head. "Well, can we at least go sit in the car? I need to get Max and Dustin home," I tell her, trying to move in front of her and Steve. She nods but Steve looks at me concerned.
He wraps me in his arms again and turns to the group. "Ok, we're gonna go home. I'll drop Max and Dustin home before I take Robin and Y/n home. I'll grab some food for Eddie and then I'll pick everyone up again and we'll come back here tomorrow. Sound good to everyone?" He asks. I nod and hear others agreeing to what he's said. He nods and picks me up. "What the hell Steve?" I snap a little, confused why he is picking me up. He ignores me and we all walk back to the car. I look back at Eddie to find me sadly waving at us all and giving me a worried look. I look away from him as Steve places me in the back seat, Robin and Dustin getting in on either side of me. I roll my eyes but let it happen. I'd had a complete meltdown in front of everyone. Robin was right, I can't lie to her and Steve. They will be at my side for the rest of the week now.

Steve wakes up and feels like his head is being split into two. The light coming from his blinds is too bright, his mouth is dry as hell and tastes like shit, and why is his body so sore?
Yeah, fuck, he needs to stop drinking.
He groans and turns only to find that he's not alone in his bed. Oh, and he's definitely naked. Shit.
He tries to rack his brain last night for any type of memory as he checks the girl out. She's facing away from him and her wild curly hair is a mess scattered all over her face and Steve's pillow. But he gets distracted because the stranger has kicked off the blanket sometime in the middle of the night and well... she has a really nice ass.
Steve tears his eyes away. Maybe they didn't sleep together, and, if so, it is entirely not okay for him to stare.
...but it's a really nice ass... Plus, come on, they're both naked in his bed so...
A faint memory of the day before pops up. He remembers Robin, Nancy, and Eddie coming over at some point because they had planned to hang out earlier that day... right?
They definitely got into the pool at some point. At least, he and Eddie did if he remembers correctly, but that doesn't explain why this random stranger is in his bed and-
Wait... did he... did he kiss Eddie? Oh fuc-
The so-called stranger grunts in their sleep, and Steve's eyes snap to them. Yeah, he knows that curly mane and he has no idea how he didn't recognize it in the first place, and oh my god he was checking out Eddie Munson's ass. Is checking out his ass. Fuck, he needs to stop staring at his ass!
Steve does the only logical thing and shoves the blanket back over the boy and turns away. Okay, so all he has to do is put on some clothes, tiptoe the hell out of there, and pretend like nothing happened.
Because nothing happened... Right?
Right. Steve wakes up naked next to one of his best friends who is also naked and has been the subject of some of Steve's late-night thoughts for a while now and-
"Fuck," Eddie groans next to him and turns to lie on his back and brush the hair out of his face. "Where the fuck..." he trails off as he looks around squinting and blinking the sleep out of his eyes.
Well, there goes Steve's plan of running out of there and pretending nothing happened. He watches as Eddie sits up, lifts the blankets to peek under them, and then puts them back down. "Hey Steve?"
"Yes Eddie?" Steve asks as he turns his head to stare at the ceiling.
"I'm naked," is all that Eddie says, no joking tone just kind of listing the facts.
Steve nods and replies, "Mhm."
"You're naked."
"Yep," Steve says and cringes before slowly sitting up. His back protests, and, Christ, what happened last night?
Eddie nods his head with his eyes wide. "So, uhhh, do you remember what happened? If... anything happened?"
Steve squints and tries to think but comes up with nothing except... "I think I may have kissed you."
Eddie lets out a deep breath and nods again. "So, we may have kissed at some point and now we're both naked in your bed..."
For some reason, Steve decides to just accept the facts and goes on to say, "Yeah, and I don't know about you, but I'm really sore. So, I think we..."
"Yeah because I'm sore as hell too."
Steve puts his head in his hands and sighs, "This is not how I wanted this to happen."
There's a panicked chuckle to his right, "Yeah, man, if you just want to pretend nothing happened we can totally- wait." Eddie pauses and Steve can feel the bed shift. "What do you mean this isn't how you wanted this to happen."
Oh shit. Steve glances over at Eddie whose eyebrows are raised as he waits for Steve to answer. "Uh," Steve starts and clears his throat then runs a hand through his hair. Might as well come clean about this. "Okay, well since this already happened, let's just say anything we say can be completely like forgotten along with last night if we want that."
"Okay..." Eddie says and nervously fidgets with a thread on Steve's blanket.
"So, I think it's probably clear now but uh... This is definitely not the first time I thought of you in... this way. And it sucks because I would never want our first time to be forgettable or hell, not consensual. Oh, fuck." Steve runs his hands through his hair. Oh fuck drunk him, he's never drinking again. "Eddie I'm so sorry that I may have taken advantage of you and-"
"Fuck, I was scared I had somehow taken advantage of you. You have no idea how long I've wanted this," Eddie says in what sounds like one breath.
Steve's heart races. "Really?"
Eddie nods and then laughs, "Of course, the only way I would ever confess something like this was if I was drunk off my ass. I should've known drinking so much around you was a bad idea."
"Shit," Steve says and laughs. Honestly, it sucks that he has absolutely zero memory of the night before, but he's almost grateful to have been drunk enough to get his feelings across to Eddie... well... sort of. "Hey Eddie?"
"Mhm?"
Steve runs a hand through his hair and notices it feels worse than usual but he'll have to figure that out later. "After I shower, brush my teeth, make us breakfast, and start feeling human again... do you want to actually do something memorable?"
"Steve, are you asking me if we can do the deed again? Because I am more than happy," Eddie says with a wide smile.
Steve groans, "Oh, please don't call it that."
Eddie laughs and launches into multiple horrible euphemisms for having sex that Steve will never be able to unhear.
-:-:-:-:-:-
A few hours later, Steve kisses Eddie sweetly and whispers against his lips that he has to call Robin and he'll be right back. Eddie tiredly just hums and burrows deeper into his pillow.
Steve wanders downstairs and laughs again at the line of clothes he and Eddie had at some point stripped off on the way to his bedroom from the night before. This is going to be an interesting call.
Steve dials Robin's number and is glad to hear it's her and not her mom. "Hey, Robin."
Robin groans, "Are you calling to apologize for what you and Eddie put us through last night?"
Oh, shit, what did they do in front of poor Robin and Nancy? Steve sits on his counter and frowns. "Actually, I was hoping that you would fill that part of the night in since neither of us remember."
There's a sigh on the other line before Robin launches into it, "Well, for some reason you two decided to see who could drink more which turn into the two of you wondering who could swim better drunk. Let me tell you, you both were seriously struggling out there but refused to admit it, but Nancy and I had to stay because we were too afraid you two would drown. Then, you both got out and said you were freezing, and Eddie told you how he had heard that people with hypothermia can get hot really fast when they huddle up naked under the sheets."
Oh shit.
"Then, Nancy and I had to witness you two drunkenly stumble your way up the stairs while trying to take off your clothes, and you two would not listen to us telling you that maybe that wasn't a good idea. Luckily, when we went to check on you two, you were both already passed out. Now tell me how awkward this morning was,"
So... soreness because of all the swimming in the pool. Stripping to get wet clothes off... and, "So you're telling me Eddie and I didn't get drunk and sleep together?"
Robin cackles on the other line, "Please tell me you dinguses really believed that."
Steve takes a deep breath and confesses, "Is it worse that we decided that if we had no memory of it then maybe we should make a memory of it?"
The cackling stops on the other line before Robin whispers, "No fucking way."
Steve nods then realizes Robin can't see him, but he remembers something and asks, "Wait, I remember kissing Eddie! What about that?"
There's a pause on the other line and Robin says, "Maybe that happened but..." There's another giggle on the line. Oh no.
"But what?"
"I think you're remembering when you kissed us all on the forehead and wished us goodnight - including Eddie."
Steve groans and sighs, but all things considered, "I'm really glad I didn't call you and ask you about it this morning," Steve confesses.
"Yeah?" Robin asks and Steve can hear the smile in her voice.
"Yeah," Steve says. "But I have no idea how I'm going to tell Eddie."
"Tell me what?"
Steve jumps and turns to find Eddie standing in the doorway to his kitchen.
"Have fun!" Robin says with another laugh before hanging up.
Steve sighs and starts, "So, funny story..."
Eddie ends up laughing his ass off while Steve sighs and goes on about how Robin will never let him live it down.
But he won't lie, he's absolutely relieved that his first time with Eddie was sober and entirely memorable. But he's also still convinced that drinking around Eddie is definitely a bad idea since he ended up sleeping without washing the chlorine out of his hair.
The things he does for Eddie Munson...

My Boys (Chapter 56)
Tumblr media
Series List
Y/n's pov
As we walk out of the double door, I notice that the championship game had also finished. The Hellfire boys and Erica were still all excited about the game we had just one. I smile at them and look around the area, trying to find Robin and maybe even get a glance at Steve. "You looking for someone?" Erica asks me, moving away from the group. I nod and say, "Yeah, you guys head to my car, I'm gonna go find Robin real quick." Erica nods and I run off into the group of students walking out of the gym. "Robin!" I finally yell when I spot her. She's laughing with Vicki, which I feel a little bad for interrupting. Robin looks over at me and smiles. "Hey N/n, what are you doing here? I thought you were babysitting tonight?" She asks. I laugh and nod, explaining, "Erica got me to bring her to Hellfire tonight. You doing anything after you get home?" She smiles and shakes her head. "Come to mine. Let yourself in. I need to talk to you about a few things." She nods and turns back to Vicki, hopefully getting a ride from her.
As I round the corner to my car, I notice that all of the kids are waiting near my car, but Eddie is also waiting with them. I take a deep breath and walk over to the group, Dustin looking up and smiling at me. "Hey Y/n! Where did you go?" He asks, looking around to see if someone was following me. I smile at him and explain, "Needed to find Robin. Need some girl time after all that boy time." The two young boys laugh while Erica glares at me. "Am I not good enough?" She snaps. The boys all look over at her and I say, "Nah. I just can't talk about the same things with you." I ruffle her hair and push the boys to the car. "Thanks for keeping an eye on them Eddie but we should get going," I say, smiling softly at Eddie. He nods and gives me a little bow. "Anytime," He whispers. He says something to the boys and Erica but I'm already in the car, ready to get home so that I can talk to Robin about everything that I've learnt today.
An Hour Later
"So, what did you need to talk about Y/n?" Robin asks me while we get comfy in front of my large TV. After dropping the boys home, I still needed to wait for Erica's mum and dad or Lucas to come home. Although I was waiting for Lucas, his parents were the ones that came home first. "So, I went to Hellfire..." I start, not really knowing what I really want to say. "I know that part already," Robin encourages me. "It made me really understand that I miss hanging out with Eddie," I whisper, putting my head on her shoulder. She reaches a hand to my head and brushes her hand through my hair. "Have you talked about this with Steve?" She whispers, turning the volume down on the TV. "In passing we've mentioned it, but Steve and I haven't discussed a way to be with Eddie again," I explain. Robin nods and makes me turn to her. "Does Steve still want to be friends with Eddie?" Robin asks, seeming slightly protective of him.
Now that's a loaded question. Steve has said that he wants to be friends with Eddie but things keep getting in the way. He and Eddie almost had an argument when Eddie was trying to make sure we were both ok after the 'mall fire'. And Steve kissed him again! But Steve isn't great at showing emotions when it comes to Eddie. Steve wears his emotions on his sleeve when it comes to girls but he's always been a bit restrictive of his emotions when it comes to Eddie. Maybe Steve didn't wanna be friends with Eddie. Maybe he wanted to be more and he's trying to work out how that is going to work.
"Yeah, but that's what I need to talk to him more about. Maybe I should try and work it out tomorrow at work?" I ask, trying to figure out a way that it could happen. She smiles down at me and nods. "I'll figure out a way to get out of your hair so he is more willing to talk to you about it," She says, squeezing me. I laugh and ask, "You good to have fun now? Kind of want to forget about the boys for a little bit." She nods and helps me forget my life, just like the old days. Movies, junk food and drinks.
Next Day at Work
"And then, Vicki laughed. And it wasn't like a cheap, fake laugh either. It was like... It was a real, genuine laugh," Robin excitedly tells us while we all stack movies onto the shelves. "Of course, she laughed Robin. It's my Muppet joke. It's hilarious," Steve says. I laugh at him while he walks over to another shelf. "My point is that Vicki laughed and everything was just like... It was perfect," Robin continues, trying to get her point across. "But?" I ask her, walking over to where Steve and her are now standing. She rolls her eyes at me and tells us, "But I'm having this problem where it's like, I should stop talking. I have said everything I need to say. But then I guess I get nervous, and the words keep spilling out, and it's like my... my brain is moving faster than my mouth, or... or rather my... my mouth is moving faster than my brain. And it's like I'm digging this hole for myself, and I want to stop digging, I'm trying to stop, but I can't. And I'm doing it right now, aren't I?" She finally stops and turns to find Steve and I looking at each other smiling and leaning against a shelf each. "Yeah, you are," Steve says to her. Robin walks back and runs into a wall, breathing out, "Oh I'm hopeless." I walk over to Robin and grab her by the upper arms. "You've always been like that Robin. That first time we meant at the party, you couldn't stop telling me how nice my nail polish looked on my fingers. And then started to ramble about band. It's who you are, if someone can't love you for rambling then they shouldn't be with you," I say, getting a small smile in return.
Steve snickers and leans against the wall next to Robin. "What you laughing at?" I ask, leaning in front of Steve instead of Robin. He smiles at my confidence and says, "I use to be just as useless." I laugh and nod. "Yeah, you use to be so bad. Am I the only one good at flirting with people I like?" I ask them both. Robin smirks at me and says, "Well, you weren't so smooth with Steve when you first started hanging out again." I glare at her while Steve laughs. "Is that right?" Steve asks, wrapping his arms around my waist. I roll my eyes and lean against his shoulder. "I hate the two of you. Especially together," I whisper, earning a laugh from them. "What if we all combined?" Robin asks us. I lift my head from Steve's shoulder and give her a weird look. "What?" I ask. "Well, I know what I want. Steve has the confidence to ask out any girl, well, use to. And you are don't ramble. So if we combine..." Robin explains, but I am so lost. "Then we would be able to get Robin her girl," Steve finishes, seeming to understand what she's getting at. "Ohh, I think I found our morning movie," Robin exclaims, running over to a stack of movies.
I move to Robin's old spot on the wall and watch her. "What movie do you think she's getting?" I whisper to Steve. He shrugs and whispers, "No clue, hopefully something good though." "Doctor Zhivago!" Robin exclaims over the store, spinning around and showing us the movie. "Ugh, you know I don't do double VHS," Steve says, moving over to Robin while shaking his hands around. I laugh and follow behind him. "But it's about doomed love," Robin tries to convince him. "Oh, well, that's relatable for you," Steve whispers but Robin doesn't hear. "Precisely. Also, Julie Christie is b-b-bonkers hot in this. Like, seriously, the most beautiful creature I have ever seen in my life," Robin uses to get Steve to finally say yes. "Oh yeah, she is," I whisper to him, trying to help Robin out.
Robin points the tv remote to our tv and the news pops up on the screen. "We're in the Forest Hills trailer park in east Roane County. We don't have a lot of details now, but we can confirm that the body of a Hawkins High student was discovered early this morning. Police have not released the name..." The news reporter says. Max lives there. Eddie lives there. Are they ok? What if they were the ones that were found? "Holy shit," Steve whispers, wrapping me in his arms. "...although we are told they're currently in the process of notifying the family." The reporter continues. "No," I whimper, falling more on Steve. "Y/n!" Robin yells and pulls a chair over to me. Steve lifts me up and places me onto the chair. "It's ok, you're ok," Steve whispers, brushing my hair out of my face. "Max lives there," I whisper to them, starting to shake. Steve freezes a little while Robin grabs onto my hands. "It'll be ok. I'm sure it wasn't anyone we know," She tries to reassure me. "They wouldn't call us though if we did. I need to go there," I say, getting up from the seat. "No, no you will not," Steve forcefully tells me, pulling me back. "Let me go Steve," I snap, trying to break out of his arms.
Steve pulls me away from the door and drags me towards the back room. "We're gonna take a 5 Robin," He yells over to her, continuing to drag me out of the room. Robin looks worried over to me but nods her head. Steve continues to drag me to the back while I fight and snap at him to let me go. "Steve please," I plead when he finally gets me on a couch. He sits down next to me and grabs onto both of my hands. "This isn't just about Max," He whispers to me. I sigh and nod, pulling him closer to me. "Eddie lives there too," Steve states. I nod and trace patterns into his palm. "It's gonna be ok," Steve whispers, pulling me into his lap. Tears start to fall from my eyes as I start to ramble about Eddie and needing him back. I tell him about how I miss the three of us and that if that student is really him I'm not sure what I'll do. Steve just nods, adds his comments and holds me in his arms until I fall asleep in his lap.
Steve's pov
I place Y/n slowly and softly on the couch before going back out to Robin.I really hope Y/n isn't right. I do hope that Eddie and Max are safe. I don't know what I'll do if it's either of them. "How is she?" Robin asks as I round the corner. She leans against the counter, still facing the TV. I walk over to her and lean next to her. "She is asleep right now. We'll have to cover for her if Keith comes in," I say as I reach her, looking over at the news. "Of course. How are you feeling?" Robin asks me. I shrug and say, "I'm ok. She's right though. I have concerns as well but I'm trying not to freak out." She nods at me and turns to the TV as well.
As we watch to hopefully get more information on the person, the bell goes off and someone yells, "Hey, Steve!" I turn to find Dustin and Max walking in. Oh, thank god. Max is ok. "Have you guys seen this?" I ask them, not getting too excited about it. It could still go bad. "How many phones do you have?" Dustin asks us, not answering my question. "Someone was murdered," I say more strongly, not really understanding how phones are more important than someone dying. "How many phones do you have?" Dustin snaps a little at me. "Uh, two. Why?" I ask, looking at Robin for confirmation. "Technically three, if you count Keith's in the back," Robin adds. "Yeah, three works," Max whispers to Dustin out of breath. Dustin takes his backpack off his shoulders and I ask him what he's doing. He places it on the counter and pushes it over to Robin and me. "Wow, what are you..." I start to yell while Robin yells, "My pile!" Dustin starts to jump over the counter while I yell, "No, no, no! My tapes! Dude." Dustin ignores Robin and me and jumps onto the computer. "What are you doing man?" I snap at him, starting to get annoyed with him. "Setting up a base of operations here," He states like it should make sense to me. "Base of operations?" Robin asks him, really confused about all of this.
"Yeah, get off of it," I tell him. "No, I need it," He tells me. "Need it for what?" I ask. "Need to look up Eddie's friend's phone numbers," Dustin tells me, my heart dropping into my stomach. "Oh, Eddie, your new best friend Eddie, who you think is cooler because he plays your nerdy game?" I sarcastically ask, not wanting to feel the other emotion I feel right now. Robin bumps her elbow into my back while Dustin says, "Yes. I never said that." a little confused about my comment. "Seriously you guys, maybe on a Monday you can play around in here like toddlers, but it's Saturday, it's our busiest day," Robin interrupts, picking up everything that Dustin knocked over. I start to help her as Dustin says, "Alright look, Robin, I totally empathize but this cannot wait until Monday." "Oh my god," I whisper, putting my hands over my face. "What? Cause calling all of Eddie's friends is an emergency?" Robin asks him. "Correct!" Dustin snaps at her.
I move over to the front of the counter, away from the computer and Dustin, whispering to Robin, "Do you want me to strangle him or do you want to do that?" "We could take turns?" Robin says, smiling up at me. "Y/n wouldn't like that though," I whisper, sighing at her. She laughs but nods. "Can you fill them in while I do this?" Dustin snaps at Max when I turn around to the two of them again. "Fill us in on what?" Robin asks them. I turn to Max, waiting for a reply but she doesn't say anything. "It's about the murder," She finally tells us. "What about it?" I ask, really needing to know more about it. Max proceeds to explain to us everything that she saw last night.
She saw Eddie coming home and Chrissy went into his trailer with him. She didn't see or hear much while they were in the trailer but she did see the lights flicker, violently. She looked out of the window to see what was going on and saw Eddie running out of his trailer, scared and frightened. She believed that the upside down is back. That whatever happened in Eddie's trailer was linked to everything that we have been fighting for the past couple of years. "Bloody hell," I whisper, looking away from the group and banging my fist against the wall. We were trying to keep him away from this. How was he still dragged into this? "Steve?" Robin whispers, placing a hand on my shoulder. I take a deep breath and look over at her. "I'm good. You guys can use the phones and computer. I'm gonna work," I say, walking away from them, needing a break from all of this.

My Boys (Chapter 55)
Tumblr media
Series List
Y/n's pov
God, I hate school so much. After being with Ms Kelly for so long and the weird interaction with Chrissy, I make the long ass walk to Family Video. I didn't have work like Steve did but it became a thing that we do. During my free, I would make the long ass walk to Family Video and spend my time there until one of us needed to do something else or Steve could go home. It was perfect because none of the boys could get to Family Video because they were still at school and have Hellfire after school so they weren't here to bug us both. As I see the doors of Family Video come into sight, I run over to them as quickly as my legs could take me.
I open the glass door and the little bell goes off, causing Steve to look up from whatever he is reading behind the counter. He looks grumpy up at me but as soon as he notices it's me, a grin spreads across his face. "Hey Gorgeous, fancy seeing you here,"He says, grabbing onto my hands as soon as I was close enough. "Hey Handsome, how's work been?" I ask, leaning over the counter and kissing him on the cheek. He laughs and says, "Dustin called me." I look confused and jump onto the counter. "What did he say?" I ask, worried that he told him about what happened with Jason. Steve gives me a confused look but continues, "He needed someone to play Dnd tonight." I laugh and explain, "Yeah, Lucas is playing his game and all of the boys have Hellfire tonight." He nods and looks over to the customer that's in the store before asking, "So, none of them are going to watch Lucas play?" I shrug and say, "It's hard. I think Lucas wants to be different but the boys are happy as they are. They wanna support Lucas but you know how Eddie is when it comes to Dnd, it's very important to him." Steve nods and I slide off the counter as the customer walks over.
I stand off to the side while Steve rents the movie for the person and have a small conversation about the movie. For someone who didn't know movies when he got the job, Steve's definitely gotten a little better. Wait. Didn't Steve want to tell me something on our date? Maybe I could get him to talk about it after this customer. The bell rings at the front and I look up to see the guy walking out of the store. I turn back to Steve and give him my best smile. He looks a little scared and asks, "What do you want?" "What did you want to tell me?" I ask, leaning a little further over the counter. Steve looks shocked down and me and looks around the store to see if anyone else is hiding around. "No one is here. You can tell me," I try. "If I tell you what I want to tell you, you have to tell me what happened at school," Steve bargains. I groan and lay my head on the counter.
"Jason tried to get with me again. He grabbed my arm and pulled me in close by the waist. I may have punched him, hence the red hand, and that caused him to push me against the wall. I banged my head against it so that still hurts as well but I'm okay now, I've got you," I blurt out, missing all of the parts about Eddie and the further mental and physical injuries that Jason caused. Steve looks at me with so much concern and worry and moves me over to him. "Are you sure you're okay? Should I drive you home?" He frets, moving his hands all over me to make sure I wasn't worse than I was saying. I laugh at him and grab onto his moving hands. "I'm okay Stevie. Robin got me out of there as soon as she could. Nothing to fret over," I try to calm him down. For some reason that seemed to work and he takes a deep breath in to calm himself.
We stand like that for a little bit. Steve runs his hands through my hair and over my arms over and over. I smile up at him, trying to keep him calm and encourage him to tell me whatever he needs. "I kissed Eddie," Steve whispers so quietly that I almost miss it altogether. "What? When?" I ask, pulling back a little bit. When the hell was Steve and Eddie alone? They can't stand each other when someone else is around, how'd they do it alone? Steve tries to pull further away from me, probably thinking I was mad at him. I tighten my hands around him and pull him close. "Steve?" I ask, looking up into his eyes, watching water slowly fill them. "It was that day he run out of the store. I went to his place after work to make sure he was ok and to apologize for everything that I've done. I did that, and I was looking at him and all I could think about was kissing him. Then I was kissing him and then I started to push him into the couch. I snapped out of it when he moaned and I realised what I'd done. I run away again Y/n," He rushes out, trying so hard to hold back his tears. I brush away a stray and kiss him on the cheek for comfort.
"Oh, Stevie," I whisper and pull him into me. Steve and Eddie kissed again? How can we fix our issues if the same one keeps happening? At least Steve was the one that kissed Eddie and not the other way around. Wait, shouldn't I be upset that Steve kissed someone? I think about why I'm not mad, but nothing seems to come up. All I can think about is us all being together. He clings to my body and tries to control his breathing. "It's ok, we'll fix it. We'll work it out. We'll work it out together," I whisper, running my hands through his hair. He nods and straightens back up, a fake bright smile on his face. "Well, that sounds good." He turns back to the computer and types in a bunch of movies. I sit down next to him and we discuss different ways to fix our Eddie problem, and what we could do for our date tomorrow night.
A few Hours Later (At Sinclair's)
"Okay Y/n. We'll probably be out late tonight. If Erica needs anything we trust that you'll make the right decision. Normal rules, not that there's many of them," Miss Sinclair tells me while giving me a goodbye hug and walking out the front door. "Everything will be all good here. Have fun," I yell out the door and close it behind them. I turn around to breathe and see Erica standing there, staring at me. I jump and yell, "What do you what?" She smiles at me and says, "We need to go to the high school." She walks past me and grabs her shoes to put on. I look confused at her and say, "Your parents said nothing about that to me." She rolls her eyes and hands me my shoes. "Come on, please. They boys owe me for this if I go to this thing," She complains and walks right out the door to my car. I put my shoes on as fast as I can and grab my car keys.
We jump into the car and I give Erica a very stern look. "Why are we going to the high school?" I ask again, not moving until she tells me. Erica rolls her eyes at me again but says, "Hellfire needs an extra player tonight. I said I'd do it if the boys understood that they owe me one." I sigh and start the car, not wanting to go but also knowing I'll get no piece if I don't take her. "God I hate this so much," I whisper and speed out of the driveway. We spend it mostly in silence, Erica looking over her character sheet. Wait, when the hell did she put all of that into my car? "When did you grab all of that stuff?" I ask her, genially confused about how I didn't notice her carrying it all. She shrugs and explains, "I grabbed your keys when you first got to my house. Put it in when you were all in the kitchen." I pull the car into the car park and said, "You can't steal my car keys!" She laughs at me and gets out of the car. I follow after her and notice Dustin and Mike there as well. Oh great.
"Y/n!" Dustin yells and runs over to me, wrapping me in a hug. I look around the empty car park to make sure no one sees us and wrap him in my arms around him. "Hey Dusty. Ready to play some Dnd?" I ask, moving the group towards where I know the Hellfire Club does their sessions. Mike and Dustin nod excitedly while Erica just shrugs. As we turn the last corner to the room I stop. "Well, I probably shouldn't come in. You all got it from here?" I say, moving back towards my car. Erica grabs onto my arm and reminds me, "Mum said not to let me out of your sight. You going to break like the only rule?" I groan and shake my head, preparing to probably be kicked out of the room anyway. "I hate all of you so much right now," I whisper and open the door for the three of them.
When all three have walked past I debate walking away but hear, "Absolutely not," from inside. I know that I have to see what is going on before I walk back to my car. I walk in while Dustin explains, "You asked for a sub. We delivered." I laugh quietly but no one in the room notices that I've entered yet. In front of me is three people that look familiar but I can't place them and Eddie who is sitting on some sort of throne at the head of the table. "This is Hellfire Club. Not Babysitting Club," Eddie snaps a little, sitting forward on his throne. "I'm 11 you long-haired freak," Erica snaps back. It looks like my babysitting duties are in effect. "Erica be nice," I say, causing everyone in the room to look at me. "You aren't my mum," Erica says to me while I make eye contact with Eddie. "Nope but I'm your babysitter for the night, so no need to worry about that Ed," I say to Eddie, giving him a sweet smile. He gives me his signature grin and says, "My, my, the children speak." One of the guys next to him laughs but Eddie just focuses on me. He puts both of his hands on his chair and gets out of it, walking towards the kids.
In an instant I'm right behind the kids, ready to hit. Dustin notices this and places a hand on my shoulder. Eddie looks confused at the act but continues to ask Erica, "So, what's your name child?" "Erica Sinclair," Erica replies back, walking up to meet Eddie in the middle. Eddie chuckles at her and says to the group, "So this is Sinclair's infamous sister." Eddie looks over to me for the same question but I roll my eyes and while Erica says, "He's sharp." Two of Eddie's friends start to laugh and Eddie gives them a glare, shutting them both up right away. "What's your class and level? Level one dwarf?" Eddie asks her, smiling as if he won. I burst out laughing, louder than the other three boys, which catches everyone's attention, except for Erica. "My name is Lady Applejack. And I'm a chaotic good half-elf rogue, level 14 and I will sneak behind any monster you throw my way and stab them in the back with my..." Erica says, seeming to forget a little about the character we made a few weeks ago. "Your poison-soaked kukri," I help out. She clicks over to me, everyone else confused and continues to say, "And I'll smile as I watch them die a slow, agonizing death. So, we gonna do this, or we gonna keep chitchatting like Y/n on a Sunday?" "Hey!" I snap, knowing exactly what time she is referring to.
Dustin laughs while I focus on Eddie's expressions. He looks at her blankly, not looking at anyone else that is in the room. Did she impress him enough? Eddie breaks out into a massive grin and puts his hand out for Erica to shake. "Welcome to Hellfire," He says, still giving her a grin. God I really missed seeing that smile every day. Erica looks sceptically at him but then shakes his open hand. I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding and move over to a corner to avoid interrupting the game.
"And where do you think you're going L/n?" I hear Eddie ask behind me. I turn around confused and say, "Well, I can't let Erica out of my sight and I am not playing Dnd, so the corner I go," I sarcastically tell him. He shakes his head at me and says, "Nope, either you play or you get out." I groan and start heading for the door before I notice Erica looking a little guilty. "What did you do?" I ask her, earning confused looks from everyone else. Erica starts to look through the stack of stuff she brought with her and pulls out another character sheet. "I may have found this in your car when I was putting things in there," She explains. I look confused and look down at the character sheet she hands me. What the hell? Reading the name off the top of the sheet I notice that it's one that has been in my car boot since I got it. A character that I had made while I was friends with Eddie and Steve still. "I really need to teach you not to steal from people," I whisper, looking over all the information that still has my handwriting, Steve's and Eddie's.
In the corner of my eye, I notice Erica roll her eyes and she says, "You are the one that taught me how to break into things." My eyes snap back to her while Dustin and Mike start complaining with, "How come you never let us do that?" and "I knew you were cooler than what I already thought." "And I said to use the knowledge for good," I say moving in a little closer to the rest of the group. Eddie makes a cough to get our attention and says, "Well if you have a character, what's your name?" I roll my eyes and focus back down at my character sheet. I sigh and say, "Luisa Haell. Level 14, Chaotic Good Half-Elf Sorcerer." I look up at Eddie to find the same surprised and pained look that I had moments before. He nods and sticks his hand out to me and whispers, "Welcome to Hellfire." I nod and sit down next to Dustin and watch as Eddie moves to sit back at the end of the table.
Without any more words, everyone in the room becomes quiet and everyone has their attention to Eddie who's looking at everyone very seriously. "As you all know, you found a group of hooded cultists who are followers of Vecna," Eddie explains for Erica and I more than anyone else. "The hooded cultists chant, 'Hail Lord Vecna.' 'Hail Lord Vecna.' They turn to you, remove their hoods. You recognize most of them from Makbar. But there is one you do not recognize, his skin shrivelled, desiccated. And something else. He is not only missing his left arm, but his left eye!" Eddie dramatically tells us, covering his left eye and hiding his arm. Everyone in the room starts to shout and scream out no while Eddie and I laugh at them all. I really miss watching Eddie be the Dm for Dnd. "Vecna's dead," Jeff yells while Mike yells, "He was killed by Kas." "So it was thought, my friends. So it was thought. But Vecna lives," Eddie tells us all, slamming a Vecna mini on a throne that sits in front of Eddie's Dm screen.
"You are scared. You're tired. You are injured. Do you flee Vecna and his cultists? Or stand your ground and fight?" Eddie dramatically asks us. We all look around, already knowing what we were gonna do. "Come on," Eddie says after too much time has passed. Dustin puts his hand up at him, telling him to hold on. "I say we fight. To the death," Dustin finally says. I nod to his statement while everyone else, one by one, repeats, "To the death." All of a sudden, everyone starts to slap the table while chanting, "To the death!" Over and over. God, I love these kids. Eddie watches everyone do this and laughs affectionately at them, falling back into his throne and smiling at everyone. "Let's do this already!" I yell, grabbing onto one of my dice and smiling over at Eddie. Over the next hour, we all fight Vecna. Each of us throwing out different spells and weapon attacks. Some rolls are a hit while others are a miss. It was a high-price fight and we were all getting into it more than we probably should. But then, are you really enjoying Dnd if you aren't yelling at everything that is happening? When we almost reach the end, everyone was dead except for Dustin and Erica.
"Time out! Time Out!" One of the other members of Hellfire calls. Eddie nods and everyone stands from the table and makes a huddle. I stay in my chair and slightly turn to them, trying to listen and put input in if they need it. "Guys, I hate to say this, but we've got to flee," Another one of the hellfire members says. "I concur," The member who called time out agrees. "Cowards," I whisper while Erica fights, "Didn't we just agree 'to the death'?" I smile at her, very proud of my little fighter. "That wasn't literal," The second Hellfire member argues. "Vecna just decimated us. We can't kill him with two players," A three Hellfire member says. "I beg to differ," I say, looking at the last two players we have on the map. "You know you could be telling them your opinions right?" Eddie snaps, looking slightly annoyed. I shrug and turn back to the rest of my teammates. "Pussies? Really? Cause we're not delusional?" The first Hellfire guy says. What the hell did I miss? "Delusional? How about not cowards?" Erica yells at him and then Eddie yells, "Hey!"
They all break from their circle and look over at Eddie, who's squatting in his chair. "If I may interject, gentleman, ladies. Whilst I respect the passion, you'd be wise to take Gareth the Great's concern to heart. There is no shame in running." Eddie says to everyone, saying the last part to me. "Don't try to be heroes. Not today, kay?" Eddie finishes, giving us all a cheeky smile. Dustin puts up a finger and says, "One sec." I laugh and watch as they all turn back to the huddle. "Guess they don't want to hear your advice," I mock a little, trying to be playful with Eddie again. He just shakes his head and says, "I am not wrong though. There is nothing wrong with running." I shrug, agreeing with him but I say, "There isn't. But staying away always has an impact." Eddie's eyes widen and he starts playing with his d20, avoiding my eye line. I stare at him, wondering what he's thinking about right now but before I can say anything more, Dustin tells Eddie, "Let's kill the son of a bitch." Eddie smirks at them all, forgetting about everything I said while the third Hellfire boy argues, "The chances of success are 20-to-1." So, our normal chances. "Never tell me the odds," Dustin says, causing me to roll my eyes at him. "Give me the d20," Dustin directs to Eddie, putting his hand out for it.
Eddie smirks at him and grabs the d20 he was just playing with, throwing it at Dustin. I quickly catch it in my hand and hold it out for Dustin. "What the hell N/n?!" Dustin yells, snatching the dice from me. I look at him seriously and say, "I've watched you try to catch things since you were a baby. I've thrown dice at you. No way in hell you were going to catch that." Dustin scoffs and goes back to the game. He shakes it in his hands for a few seconds before rolling it over the table. Everyone in the room holds their breath, watching the dice roll over and over, hoping for a good result. It finally stops, landing on an 11. Eddie looks at it and dramatically says, shaking his head back and forth, "That's a miss!" We all yell no and Dustin yells shit over and over. "All up to you Lady Applejack," I say, reaching over the table, grabbing the dice and passing it to her. Erica takes a breath and starts to shake the dice in both her hands. We all watch her, hoping and praying that she gets a hit. The boys start yelling but I couldn't hear anything. We watch the dice roll over the table, waiting for a good result. Erica rolls the dice on the table, stopping on a Natural 20.
All at once, everyone in the room starts to cheer and Erica yells, "Crit hit!" We all jump up while Eddie yells out, "What? What?" laughing at the result as well. "That's why we play," Eddie says, bowing in his usual dramatic fashion and looking right at Erica. I smile at them both before realising my breathing is getting faster for some reason. Without a word to anyone, I quickly get out of the room and run into the hall. I stand against a locker and press my head against the cold door, trying to ground myself. What the hell is going on? I shouldn't be feeling this right now. I open my eyes which I hadn't realised closed and try to look around the hall again. "I'm okay. They're ok," I whisper to myself, hoping that would calm me down. I look off to the side and notice lots of people walking around outside. I wonder how the basketball game went? Without any warning, I feel a small body against my back.
"I'm okay. You can let go," I whisper, hearing my voice break at the end. I look down at the arms around me and notice that it is Erica's around me. "Thank you for taking me out," She whispers. I smile down at her and turn around in her arms. "Anytime, but this does not get to your parents. Do you hear me?" I playfully say, knowing that if she does tell them they wouldn't care. She smiles brightly up at me and nods before running back into the room. I look at the door and take another deep breath to calm down a little more. I walk into the room after a few more seconds and look around to see everyone packing up their stuff, not even looking up at me. I move to where I was sitting and grab my character sheet and dice, everyone else slowly walking out the door. Everyone was still excited about everything that just went down, all of them rapidly talking about it. I slowly follow behind them all, making sure they were all ok.
A hand appears on my shoulder and I look up the arm to find Eddie looking down concerned at me. "You all good there L/n? You spaced a bit at the end there," He asks, the concern still on his face. I nod and look back at the boys, not trusting my voice just yet.

I got this comment on a story from my Other AO3 Account this morning.
Tumblr media
(Info redacted because I prefer keeping these accounts separate but no one follows me on the side blog I have for that account.)
The story was posted almost a year ago and is relatively “popular” by my average statistics even though it has tropes and themes that are big turnoffs for a lot of people (hence separate accounts). This popularity is undoubtedly because it’s a Marvel Loki story and that fandom is massive.
So there is obviously an algorithm or a bot scrubbing ao3 statistics and leaving this comment on fics that meet a certain metric with the main character of the fic inserted into the comment.
I had a little time to kill this morning so I decided to investigate further. And y’all this is so predatory. Come on this journey with me. It made me mad. It may make you mad.
First, if you go to Webnovel’s website, you HAVE to choose between male lead or female lead stories before you can go any further. WTF?
Tumblr media
And that’s weird, but this gets so much worse. This is basically a pay-to-read site that has different subscription models. Which… okay BUT! The authors don’t get paid! Look at that comment again. They’re promising a supportive and nurturing community, but zero monetary compensation. It’s basically, “post your stuff here so we can get paid and you can get… nice vibes?” I mean look at this Orwellian writing:
Tumblr media
Using the phrase “pay-to-read model” in the same sentence as “qualitative changes in lifestyles for authors” deliberately makes you think that you can get paid and maybe even make a living on this website. But that’s not actually what it says and authors will not receive one red cent.
Oh but wait, the worst is still to come. In case this breaks containment (which I kind of hope it does) this is where I mention that I’m a lawyer in the US.
I don’t do intellectual property or copyright law but I do read and write contracts for a living. So I went to look at their terms of service. It was fun!
Highlights the first, in which Webnovel gets a license to do basically whatever they want with content you post on their site. This is how they get to be paid for people reading authors’ writing without paying them anything.
Tumblr media
Highlights the second, in which Webnovel takes no responsibility for illegally profiting off of fan fic. This all says that the writer is 100% responsible for everything the writer posts (even though only Webnovel is making money from it).
Tumblr media
Highlights the third which say that by posting, the author is representing that they have the legal right to use and to let Webnovel use the content according to these terms. So if a writer posts fan fiction and Webnovel makes money from people reading the fan fiction, and the House of the Mouse catches wise, these sections say that that’s ALL on the writer.
Tumblr media
So that’s a little skeevy to start off with but the thing that is seriously shitty and made me make this post was that these assholes are coming to ao3. They are actively recruiting people in comments on their fan fiction. And they are saying they are big fans of the character you’re writing about and that they share your interests.
Tumblr media
They are recruiting fan fiction writers and giving every impression that you can make money from posting fan fiction on their site and hiding the fact that you absolutely cannot but they can make money off of you while you try, deep in their terms of service which no one but a lawyer who writes fan fic and has some time to kill will read.
I see posts on here regularly from people who don’t understand how this stuff works, don’t understand that they (and others) can not legally make a financial profit from fan fiction. And there are tons of people who will not take the time to dig into the details.
Don’t deal with these bastards. Fuck Webnovel.

My Boys (Chapter 54)

Series List
Eddie's pov
I place my stuff at the table while my group follows in behind me. I look around at the cafeteria and notice that almost everyone was in there for once. I look around, trying to find Y/n but didn't have any luck until the door swings open. I look to the door and watch as Y/n walks in and the whole basketball team starts to whistle and clap at her. She rolls her eyes at them and throws them a middle finger while walking away. I try to listen to the things they yell out but Gareth throws a magazine in my face. I glare at him while he puts his hands up and says, "Look at page 99. Read it out loud." I continue to glare at him but pick up the magazine anyway, quickly having a read and smiling at it.
"The Devil has come to America. Dungeons and Dragons, at first regarded as a harmless game of make-believe, now has both parents and psychologists concerned. Studies have linked violent behaviour to the game, saying it promotes satanic worship, ritual sacrifice, sodomy, suicide and even... murder, " I dramatically read out to the guys who are at my table, all of us breaking out in laughter. "Oh that's a good one," Jeff laughs while I cross my arms over my chest. We all nod and slowly stop laughing. "I mean, how is a game supposed to be responsible for all of that?" Gareth questions, looking at us all as if we have an answer. As Greg goes to answer, two of our little sheep slam their food trays down to sit. "Society has to blame something. We're an easy target," Greg says. "Exactly. We're the freaks because we like to play a fantasy game," I explain, before slamming my hands on the table, climbing on top and continuing very loudly. "But as long as you're into band, or science... or parties or a game where you toss balls into laundry baskets..." I yell at all the tables, ending with looking right at Jason. Someone in the background yells out loser while Jason stands up and yells, "You want something freak?" I laugh at him a little and do a little devil pose, poking my tongue out in the process and making a funny noise at him. The boys at my table laugh and I watch Jason turn around and whisper something.
I smirk and turn around, walking back along the table and explain, "It's forced conforming. That's what's... killing the kids!" I yell, and jump off the table, scaring the girls that are walking past. The guys continue to laugh at me while I let a few girls walk past me, stopping and bowing slightly. "That's the real monster," I finish, sitting back in my chair and looking at the magazine again. It is really weird that they think a game would be the reason people commit suicide. I mean, people like Jason are the real reason for that, why blame a bunch of nerds for the jock's crimes.
"So, uh, speaking of monster," Dustin says, causing me to look up at him and pop a pretzel in my mouth. "Uh, Lucas has to do his, uh, balls in laundry baskets game," Dustin explains to me but I just stare him down, wondering where he is going with this. "So...he's not gonna be able to make it to Hellfire tonight," Dustin explains to me, chuckling nervously and giving me weird looks. "And I know there's no way we can beat your sadistic campaign without him. So, me and Mike, we were talking, shooting the shit, and we were thinking that maybe we might..." Dustin tries to explain to me. I slowly get a little angry as he goes but really get angry when Mike finishes Dustin's sentence with, "Postpone." The other guys yell at the two of them. They all continue to yell at each other until I yell, "Shut up!" Everyone spots yelling and looks at me. "You saying Sinclair's been taken in by the dark side?" I ask the two younger boys. "Uh, something like that," Mike says. "Something like that?" I snap and through a pretzel at them. "Jesus Christ," Dustin squeaks. "And rather than find a sub for him, you want... you want to postpone 'The Cult of Vecna'?" I ask them both, confused by the whole thing.
"I...I don't want to postpone it. We don't want to postpone it. It's just that, you know, most of the subs will be at the championship game." Mike tries to defend while I slowly get up and walk a little to the window. "Oh, it's the championship game?" I turn and sarcastically ask. "Yeah," Mike says, not knowing if I'm being serious or not. "Can I level with you?" I ask them, trying to be a little less mean and moving slowly around the table. "Jeff graduates this year. Gareth's got, what? A year and a half? Me, I am army-crawling my way towards a D in Ms O'Donnell's. If I don't blow her final, I'm gonna walk that stage next month, I'm gonna look Principal Higgins dead in the eye, and I'm gonna flip him the bird, I'm gonna snatch that diploma. I'm gonna run like hell outta here." I tell them, looking over at them both, both of them laughing at me. I start walking a little away from the table but walk back when I hear voices talking to me. "Didn't you say that last year?" Gareth asks. "And the year before?" Jeff adds. "Yeah, yeah and I was full of shit. This year's different. This is my year. I can feel it. '86, baby." I look over at Y/n and give her a soft smile. She looks sadly at me and turns to Robin, whispering something and running off. Robin looks confused at her and starts to follow behind her after a few seconds.
"You know what that means?" I focus back on the boys, trying to get back on track. Before I can say anything more, a loud bang rings throughout the cafeteria. I look over to the nose and see that Jason has pulled Y/n close to him and they are whispering to each other. I roll my eyes at the display and Y/n punches Jason in the face. I laugh but Jason lunges at Y/n and pushes her against the wall. Her head bounces off the wall but she doesn't lose the sharp look in her eye. Jason leans into her and whispers something to her. I hear movement next to me and look over to see Mike holding Dustin back from walking over to them. "Dude, she said to stay away from her. Just ignore it," Mike whispers to him. Dustin shakes his head and sadly whispers, "But I have to protect her." I look confused at them while hearing, "Come on man, she's already said no, leave her alone," I turn back to find Sinclair moving towards the two of them. "Stay out of this little boy." Y/n snaps at him. Why is she being so rude to the boys? And why the hell is she keeping them away from her? And why is Dustin so protective of Y/n? She's way too old for him. Jason starts to push harder on Y/n shoulder but she just stares off into the distance, pain written all over her face.
As I go to step towards her, Robin comes up behind Jason and wacks him over the head, causing him to let Y/n go and falling over. Robin moves in front of Y/n and whispers to her before taking her out of the cafeteria. The basketball team all surround Jason and everyone looks away from the scene. "See? She's all good," I hear Mike whisper to Dustin, who finally calms down and sits back in his seat. I turn back to the two of them and ask again, "You know what us graduating means?"
They shake their heads and I explain, "It means you boys, are the future of Hellfire." I move to lean in between them both, putting a hand on each of their shoulders. "I knew it the moment I saw you. You sat on that table right over there, looking like... looking like two little lost sheep. You were wearing a Weird Al T-shirt, which I thought was brave." I tell Dusting, remembering the second time I saw the boys. "Thank you," Dustin whispers, looking away from me. "Mike, you were wearing whatever shit your mummy bought you from the goddamn Gap." Everyone laughs at my statement while I think of my next move.
Without another word, I grab onto the boy's shoulders and pull them up from their seats. I push them so they are facing the door to the cafeteria. "And we showed you that school didn't have to be the worst years of your lives, right?" I continue to ask the two boys. "No," They both whisper. "Okay, no, no. Well, I'm here to tell you that there are other little lost sheepies out there who need help. Who needs you." I tell them before spinning them to face me while saying, "And all you guys gotta do is get your Bo-Peeps on and go and find one." I snap and push the boys towards the cafeteria area.
They both run off and I sit down at the head of the table again. "You ok man?" Gareth asks me. I look up at him while shoving another pretzel in my mouth. "I'm fine. Why?" I slightly snap at him. He puts his hands up in defence and says, "You looked like you were gonna help that L/n chick. Making sure you were telling us everything." I laugh at him and look at the magazine while eating more pretzels. "Nah, just didn't think it should get out of control," I whisper, not looking up at the boys for the rest of the day.

inspired by this tweet, and here’s part 1 if you haven’t seen it yet!
Sure enough, Eddie lets the door slam against the wall an hour later. “Wayne, I’m home!“
"Hi, kid,” Wayne says, much calmer.
Steve doesn’t say anything. Just sits on the couch and waits, his eyes boring a hole into the floor.
“I finally got the solo down for the song I was telling you about.” Eddie lets his bag drop on to the table with a loud thud. Wayne doesn’t miss how Steve jolts. “So once we sort out the bassline, we’ll be-"
Eddie turns around and sees Steve on the couch.
”-fine,“ Eddie finishes, letting his hands fall to his sides. "Steve, how long have you been here?"
"An hour."
"Oh.” Eddie looks at Wayne, confusion plain on his face.
Wayne raises his eyebrows. Talk to him. He wanted you, not me.
Eddie nods. “What do you need?"
Steve looks up for the first time. Wayne fought the kid to get him cleaned up, so the split lip looks better. Couldn’t do much about the black eye, though.
Wayne watches the color drain out of Eddie’s face.
"Shit, Stevie-"
Wayne shoots Eddie a look, a mix of Careful and Stevie?
Eddie glances back at him. I know and later.
He slows down and sits next to Steve, keeping his hands on his lap. "Did they-"
"I go back for the rest of it in the morning,” Steve says blankly, like he’s reciting something.
“Okay,” Eddie says. He looks back at Wayne.
What do I do?
Wayne glances at Eddie’s hands, then at Steve. What do you think?
Eddie puts an arm around Steve and lets him bury his head into his shoulder.
Wayne looks between the two of them. What’s the deal?
Eddie stares back. I think you know.
Wayne has to agree. He thinks he knows a few things between the way Steve is so comfortable in Eddie’s arms and the way Steve hasn’t mentioned going home once tonight.
A glance between Eddie and Steve’s black eye. How long have you known?
Eddie won’t meet Wayne’s eyes. Wayne knows what that means.
Too long.
They’ll talk about it in the morning. They’ll talk about all of it in the morning.
But for now? Wayne just has to be here for both of these boys. Both of his boys, now, it seems.

Eddie almost never wears the rings he has for his thumbs so when he decides that he wants to give Steve one of his, mostly because of how often Steve fiddles with his but also maybe because he's a little possessive, he gives him his favorite thumb ring. It fits perfectly on Steves middle finger. It looks odd on him, but he loves it. He tells everyone that Eddie gave it him, even though they're supposed to be subtle about their relationship. Steve can't help but brag.
