Batwoman, Wonder Woman: Legacy
Chapter Six: You can’t have both
Kate woke up a few hours later, her father was sitting next to the bed and Diana was nowhere in sight. She groaned, her body dropped back into the sheets with a loud thud. Colonel Kane was up at his feet right away, holding a hand of his daughter. It was hard for him to watch her in so much pain. She always did this, whenever she got beaten up, Kate pushed herself further and further. However this was first time her body gave up on her, this was the first time she fought a goddess. The thing that was even harder to watch, was Kate’s face when she looked around the batcave and realized that the Amazon still wasn’t back.
Tumblr media
“Kate…” He whispered and leaned down to kiss her forehead. She smiled back at him, sad, maybe even scared smile that made him worry even more.
“I-I didn’t know dad...I didn’t know about the curse…” Her voice was weak, Kate didn’t sound like a Batwoman anymore, she sounded like his little girl and Jacob Kane was overcome with a sudden urge to protect her.
“Of course you didn’t.” He voiced his reassurance and helped the fragile redhead to sit up.
“Where is-”
“Diana?” Colonel asked but was taken back by her quick response.
“The cat. Where is the cat.”
“He took care of it.”
“He’s back?” Kate asked surprised coloring her voice.
“No, he just sent someone else to pick up the animal.” Even though his daughter was part of the bat-family, Jacob never really enjoyed talking about Batman. The room was silent after that. She avoided looking at her father but the tingling feeling that reappeared in her lips forced her to talk.
“She...she didn’t come back yet?”
“Kate, there are things that can delay even a goddess.” Colonel smiled at the concerned look that took over his daughter’s face. It was rare to see the Batwoman interested in someone, especially after what she went through with Maggie Sawyer.
“I know...I was just…wondering-” Small chuckle escaped her lips, “I-Diana…”
“My daughter was kissed by a Wonder Woman.” Jacob said proudly and smirked as bewilderment appeared on Kate’s face.
“How?”
“I arrived before she left. Saw it all from the first row.” His grin grew wider, he leaned in and hugged her. She missed this.
Ever since Maggie left, Kate didn’t allow anyone to get close to her again. It worked perfectly but only until the Amazon decided to crash into her little fairytale world and destroy every wall that was supposed to protect her. When Diana’s arms locked around her and saved her from the devastating impact with the concrete streets of Gotham, she knew there was no way of stopping her feelings. If something is kept bottled up for a long time, once it finds an option to escape, it’s impossible to reverse it. And Batwoman kept all this down for months. Colonel Kane opened his mouth to talk but Kate’s phone started buzzing.
“I should take that...it could be…”
“Diana?” Jacob offered.
“Important.” She rolled her eyes and reached for the phone.
“I’ll go get us some food.”
“Hello?” The Bat waited until the Colonel left the room before answering.
“Kate. Good to hear your voice.”
“Bruce? You shouldn’t…”
“Be calling? Don’t worry. It’s all safe. I heard about Klarion. Minor destruction of the museum is unfortunate but I will take care of it. I also heard about your clash with a certain goddess. I am glad that you are okay...I don’t know a lot of people who would be standing after all this.”
“Who told you?” She smirked at his compliment and jumped off of the bed, trying to really prove that she can stand.
“Barbara called. Tim is...well beaten up but he will be okay. I sent Dick back to deal with the cat. He’s bringing it back to me.”
“W-will you come back soon?” The pain surged through abdomen and she almost dropped down to her knees.
“I wouldn’t want to promise something that is not certain, Kate.”
“Can I ask for your advice?” The redhead spoke again after a brief hesitation.
“Always.”
“I-uh-it’s not like...fuck...see...Diana…”
“Oh.”
“Oh?”
“I am not sure if I am the best person to give relationship advice. I can only say...trust your gut, Kate. I know it didn’t work out very well with Maggie. However, Diana is not Maggie. If she wants something, she usually gets it.”
“I don’t doubt that.” The heroine scoffed and closed her eyes for a moment, ignoring the pain.
“Your instincts are right most of the time, it’s up to you to decide if the risk is worth it or not.” His voice wasn’t colored with any emotions, if Kate wouldn’t know better, she could swear that there was a robot at the other end of this phone call. “You are doing a good job in Gotham. Hopefully we’ll speak in person soon.”
She listened to the annoying beeping coming out from her phone, there was so much more she wanted to talk about. Door to the batcave opened and her father slipped back in with a boxes of chinese food. Even though her stomach was craving absolutely anything at that point, the pain was stronger. Right after Kate turned around, everything went black once again and she passed out.
When she woke up again, everything around her was way too white, the bright light was hurting her eyes and the smell of disinfectant was making her dizzy. Kate knew right away what her father did. It wasn’t the smartest decision but she understood. However, the risk of revealing her identity by taking her to a hospital was enormous. Certain injuries were simply hard to explain without mentioning Diana. She turned her head to the side and saw Jacob talking with Gotham cops. There wasn’t much she could do now, except trust her dad to handle this situation. Before Kate could recognize who else was outside her room, one of the detectives stepped in. The redhead recognized her old friend right away.
“Renee?” Her body immediately reacted to the familiar warmth as the cop gently stroked the hair off of her face.
“Oh, Kate...what happened this time?” Renee Montoya was Kate’s former lover. Although their relationship was practically nothing compared to what the Bat had with Maggie, they both couldn’t fight the urge to smile.
“Long story...can-uh-can you make this go away?”
“You mean, not let anyone in on your little secret?” The smirk on detective’s face made Kate chuckle, “I’ll take care of it.”
“Thank you.” Kane tried to read face of the woman in front of her, it usually wasn’t so hard, but injuries and the painkillers were limiting her abilities. To be fair Kate could be blind and she would still get it right. Renee never stopped trying to get back what they had before, even though being Batwoman was more important than the relationships, maybe it was time to focus a little on herself.
“Tell me what happened, who did this to you?”
“Bad guys?” The heroine offered, but clearly it wasn’t enough.
“Your father told me that you pushed yourself way past your limits…”
“I think I know my limits better than anyone.” Kate shrugged, watching the cop cautiously.
“Still the same reckless attitude, huh?” It was Montoya’s turn to chuckle.
“One of the reasons you fell for me.”
“One of the reasons things ended that way…” Renee deadpanned, taking a deep breath before continuing, “So will you tell me who hurt you this much?” Her fingers softly skated down to Kate’s stomach.
“I was just too much for you to handle.” The redhead laughed, regretting it right away as a muscles in her body tightened and the unbearable pain spread everywhere; starting right where Diana’s fist landed just a few hours earlier. The cop moved her hand away from the injured area and leaned forward, her lips leaving a small kiss on top of the Bat’s head.
“It’s hard to not help when I see you in pain…”
“I don’t think you can help with this, although I do appreciate the concern.”
“Kate, just say the name and I’ll hunt them down. I promise.” Her voice was barely audible, the Gotham hero was able to hear her only because she was so close. It was obvious what Renee was hoping to achieve, her forehead resting against Kate’s now. Just one precise move and she could kiss her again, just like she did hundred of times.
“I’d love to see you try…” Kane whispered back.
Montoya was considering if this was the right time. She was waiting for so long, but forcing an injured woman into something wasn’t her cup of tea. But it felt like now was her chance, however upon closer inspection of Kate’s facial expression, she could see the difference. There was a hesitation in her eyes, one that Renee never saw before, one that was making her feel like a third wheel to someone who wasn’t in the room with them.
“I’d want to see that too.” Unexpected third voice entered the conversation, causing the cop to jump away from the redhead; her eyes opening impossibly wide when she recognized who just walked into the room.
“Diana!” Kate almost bounced off of the mattress, wincing in pain. That resulted in Wonder Woman jumping towards bed and carefully pushing the human back down. Her action was accompanied by Renee’s annoyed scoff.
“Stay down, darling.” The Amazon smirked as she heard another scoff.
She didn’t plan this, but she certainly wouldn’t feel sorry for listening on the exchange between the two women. Kate was hers. Diana waited for such a long time to find someone who would make her feel at least a little like Steve did and the Gotham hero did exactly that. She had a couple of relationships after him, but none of them would get even close to what she lost with her first love. Until she came to the police gala. Until her eyes landed on the woman who was now looking up at her in awe. She knew now, that her eyes are mirroring Kate’s. The goddess was lost in two green pools that belonged to one of the strongest mortals she ever met. It was still a mystery to her, how Batwoman managed to survive the curse, fight with her and then with Klarion. The room was silent for a moment, Diana’s thoughts were coursing through her head and she completely forgot about the cop standing next to them.
“I-I thought that...you wouldn't come back…” The redhead voice sounded weak; weaker than she was used to.
“I thought you are supposed to be smart one.” The Amazon joked and an affectionate smile formed on her lips as she felt the redhead’s body relaxing in her arms. Kate pouted and Diana just really wanted to kiss her again, to tell her that she doesn’t need to worry about anything, but there was something that had to be done first. “I believe you know the way out, detective?”
“We were in the middle of conversation.” Montoya straightened up, even though it was now obvious why she felt like third wheel.
“And now you are not.” The goddess stood up from the bed. She was taller than Renee, the smile on her face showed signs of amusement. Wonder Woman enjoyed the occasional challenge, but if the cop would overstep, she was ready to protect what was hers. Suddenly the Bat felt a little uncomfortable. It was beyond a doubt that Diana would not hurt anyone for something so trivial but even the image of Renee encountering the same pain Kate did right at that moment was making her sick. She didn’t dare to interrupt the staring competition between the two of them; praying that Montoya would be smart enough to not start anything.
“If you change your mind, you know where to find me, Kate…”
Before the cop could say something else, the Amazon walked her out from the room. She didn’t touch her, only a slight change of her posture was all it took. The redhead took a deep breath when the door closed and her eyes followed Diana’s every move. Her brain managed to short circuit as the woman in front of her flexed her muscles while she took of the leather jacket. In a matter of seconds, the mattress dipped under the weight of another body and Kate was being attentively scooped up, her head ended up resting on the warriors chest, the solid heartbeat calming her immediately. Everything slowed down and her eyelids were slowly closing but that wasn’t what she wanted. She moved upwards and wrapped an arm around the body next to her.
“So…” The Bat started anxiously, “How much of that did you hear?”
“Enough.”
“I...I-uh…”
“Kate?” Diana stopped her, feeling like she should talk first, “During my trip to National City, I had time to talk with my friend.”
“Alright…”
“I know that this isn’t easy for you, but I-I didn’t feel this way for quite some time. You are strong, Kate. Stronger than most humans...and smart and you don’t give up. Plus your batsuit is-uh-fitted perfectly.” The Amazon tried not to go into details more than it was necessary, “This would probably be a huge step into the unknown for you but I’d be honored to be by your side through everything.”
“Diana…”
“I am going to protect you, just...let go of the past.” It wasn’t hard to guess that Batwoman’s previous relationships crashed because of her secret identity but that wouldn’t be a problem for Wonder Woman, “I know that you don’t need protection, but I want to do that. I want you.”
“Dia-”
“But…” She interrupted the redhead again, “I am not going to share you with anyone, Kate. If you’ll say yes, I want all of you.”
The Gotham hero waited. When she was sure that the heroine was done talking, Kate opened her mouth to say some witty remark but nothing came out. Before she realized it, the tears were falling down her cheeks. The Amazon’s intense gaze wasn’t making her uncomfortable, quite the opposite actually. Her eyes felt like home and they were conveying so many raw emotions that the Bat found herself slowly falling apart in the safety of strong arms. She went over her conversation with Bruce, he told her to follow her instincts. She wanted Diana. That was one thing that made complete sense. Only a memory of the kiss was bringing chills down her spine. Image of Wonder Woman with someone else was making her sick; turning her stomach upside down. This feeling was much stronger than with Renee or even with Maggie; too strong to be ignored. However there was the other thing. Kate Kane was never able to give everything to anyone. No matter how much she tried, it always ended horribly and she certainly didn’t want to hurt the woman in front of her. Diana didn’t move, her eyes sparkling, her lips curled into a curious friendly smile. Suddenly Kate understood why Bruce said that the goddess usually gets what she wants. It was impossible to resist her, but to be fair, she had no intention to do that. Her mind went over the speech she just got over and over again and then it hit her. Batwoman is the one who is strong, the one who is smart. Kate is nothing without the bat mask, just another broken human.
“You can’t have both, Diana.” Was all she managed to choke out.
“What do you mean?” The Amazon raised her eyebrows and waited for an explanation.
“You’ll have to choose…”
“Between?”
“Kate or Batwoman.” Her voice was barely audible, she was fairly sure that Batwoman will be the option for Wonder Woman. It would all make much more sense. Hero with another hero, not goddess with an unrepairable mortal.
“I want both…”
“That’s not how this works.” She could feel the soft touch of a finger copying her jawline.
“It can.” It was a simple suggestion, or maybe the heroine was stalling with the obvious choice.
“No.” The redhead shook her head, fingers digging desperately into the pillow.
“In that case…” Diana closed her eyes for a brief moment, “There is only one acceptable choice.” Smile on her face grew wider, she looked at the mortal again; wiping the tears with her thumb, “I choose Kate.”
“What?” At that second, everything stopped. Nothing existed except the Amazon in front of her. She was so sure that Diana will pick her superhero persona, she never even considered the fact, that the goddess might actually be more interested in keeping their work relationship professional and rather enjoy the time with the real her.
“Is it that surprising?”
“I-I just…” The Bat didn't know what to say, instead she leaned closer and waited.
“You think that Batwoman is worth more than you are?” Diana also leaned in, however she kept some distance, her lips softly brushing against Kate’s.
“I-I…”
“Batwoman is nothing without Kate.”
After that, Wonder Woman closed the gap between them. Even though she paid attention to the human in her arms, she was still able to gather several things happening around her. For example, it took the redhead over half a minute to start breathing again, her abdomen muscles were clenching in pain thanks to the position she was in. One sore whimper escaped from her lips and Diana didn’t wait for anything else. She lifted the human up, which resulted in Kate biting down on her bottom lip in surprise, the Amazon growled, but didn’t stop the motion. In a matter of seconds, the goddess was straddling the fragile Gotham hero. She was being really careful, instead of ravishing the body underneath her, Diana focused on the responses she was receiving. Kate’s touches were really shy at the beginning, however it didn’t take long and her hand was resting against Diana’s collarbone and smoothly sneaking behind her neck.
“Wait.” Kate breathed out and her features lightened up with astonishment when the Amazon leaned back right away. Although she didn’t lean that far back, “This means that...when I-I’ll go out as…”
“I will keep my distance.” Diana assured her and chuckled at the mortal who had obvious trouble with breathing, “I want you to know, that I respect everything that you do as Batwoman and I’d never try to tell you who you should be...but...I will keep an eye on you. That won’t change. Even if you’d decide to not put that suit on ever again, I’ll still be here.” The fire in her eyes made Kate gulp several times, before she could even react, Wonder Woman leaned closer to her ear and whispered; huge grin decorating her face, “But...please do keep putting it back on.”
“Oh god…” The redhead rolled her eyes and giggled, the blush spreading across her cheeks.
“Goddess, dear, goddess.” Diana deadpanned and kissed her again. This time it was a short kiss, but both women were left with heavy breathing.
“Are you seriously leaving again?” Kate whined when the Amazon jumped off of the bed.
“You need to rest…” Her voice was soft and caring.
“I am hurt.” She pouted, “Come back!”
“Darling…” The whisper sent another shiver up and down her spine, Diana dragged thumb over Kate’s bottom lip, “That is exactly the reason why I have to leave.”
The Gotham hero was left in her hospital room, staring at the closed door with her mouth wide open. She wasn’t alone for a long, the door opened again and Jacob Kane walked in. Boxes of food in his hands and proud expression on his face.
“I brought food, it might be a bit cold now though. I didn’t want to interrupt your…” He coughed to cover up his next words, “Make out session,”
Kate pinched the bridge of her nose, before pulling the blanket over her face.

Supergirl: Legacy
Chapter Twenty Four: Welcome to the family
Fists clashed in the skyline above National City, the tremendous trading of blows echoed like thunder. Black Adam held his own despite being outnumbered but he knew it wouldn't be long before the battle was no longer in his favor; the odds had to be evened. Electricity surged, bouncing from cloud to cloud as energy gestated deep within the villainous foe. Wonder Woman prepared herself, nudging Superman to ensure he did the same.
Tumblr media
Palms open and bristling with shock he threatened them, his hand changing target as he prepared to strike one of the two. “I've entertained this folly for long enough!”
Wonder Woman crossed her bracelets at eye level, still hovering. “Stay focused, he's feeling cornered. Whatever comes next will be an act of desperation.”
Clark's eyebrows furrowed, a certain uncertainty settling it's way in his demeanor. “All the more to let reason bring this to an end, Diana.”
Audible confusion escaped her lips as Superman lowered his defense, hovering closer to the guarded Adam. “Superman, now is not the time for reason. Be rational!”
The Kryptonian put out his hand signaling the Amazon to halt whatever intervention she was planning to enact. “This has to end, Adam. Here and now but with peace, not more bloodshed. You were an honorable man once, you didn't kill innocents.”
The vengeful god barked back, rage and sorrow busting at his seams. “And yet you struck me down, trapped me for years and left me to rot while my home burned!”
“I'm sorry, I am, truly.” Clark hovered dangerously close, more vulnerable now than ever. “You became a threat, I did what I had to do, I don't apologize for that.. but what happened to Kahndaq and.. what happened to Adrianna, I'm truly sorry but no amount of blood spilt today will bring either back. You've suffered a great lost, you know a pain only few do; why put others through that same torture?”
The lightning began to dissipate, the clouds cleared allowing the light above to begin shining once more. Adam's head lowered, his teeth clenched as he fought back the sliver of tears that ran down his face. Strong hand gently touched his shoulder, offering comfort in spite of all the pain caused today. The former ruler placed his hand upon his, silently sobbing. After mere moments however the cry became a laugh and fear sunk into the heart of the Kryptonian. Clark yelled out in pain, lightning surging all throughout his body through their mutual contact. While stunned a barrage of punches were delivered to his stomach, blood escaped the man of steel’s lips.
“I desire no apologies, only vengeance! I will bury those you love and rebuild my country atop them!”
Clark yelled out for Diana’s aid, struggling to move as fingers dug deep into him, framing his face all while lightning pulsated off every extremity. Clouds parted, the sudden burst of force from her dash cracked like a whip, breaking the sound barrier in an instant. Adam discarded the temporarily paralyzed hero before clashing with the other. Her momentum was too much, he had no choice but to plummet as she drove him down. Quickly thinking Adam headbutted the goddess, striking her nasal bridge several times before driving both feet into her gut; unable to hold on any longer she was kicked upward, a trail of blood lingering behind as she soared weightless. Diana recovered, wiping the warm red from her lips before diving back into the heated battle.
A pair of delicate hands rested on the back of the falling Kryptonian, his body imbued in a thin layer of energy as it was lifted back into good standing. Clark began to recuperate, the magic electricity leaving him system in enough time to see his savior; a hooded woman in white, red and blue. His hand slowly rested on the symbol on her chest, recognizing it as his own a warm smile settled on his face.
“Are you from Krypton?” His voice was low, barely a whisper as he feared the answer.
She touched his hand, shaking her head softly, almost ashamed to break his heart. “I'm not, I'm sorry.”
“Don't be, it is the sincerest form of flattery after all.” Superman began to fly but slowed, turning to face her as he realized she was still, still..”Well, are you going to honor that symbol or what, Super..?”
“Woman, Superwoman.” Now more than confident than ever the two took off in pursuit of the ensuing battle.
Blood painted the teeth of the Amazon princess, her nose bruised from a quick reset to tide her over. The all out brawl had gotten dirty quick, both opponents wearing each other's blood. Adam was ready to engage again however his ear twinged, the sound of something on approach garnered his attention. A quick glance revealed Superman and Superwoman were quickly ascending toward him, their fists both cocked back. In the small window of diverted attention Wonder Woman managed to wrangle him with her lasso, ensnaring him all the while the super duo closed in. As they encroached they shared a look, nodding in mutual understanding before punching Adam with every ounce of strength they could muster. The sorcerer was sent flying, dazed and barely conscious. Superman however caught up, taking hold of his collar as he directed his crash into a lonely island made entirely of ice and crystal. Adam slid across the icy floor, trying to surmise the strength only to slip back into the puddle of blood beneath him.
“Enough, it's over, Adam.” Superman paced around the now fallen antihero.
“So long as I breathe, I will have my revenge! I will take what's owed, hear me now, I swear it!” Adam tried to lift his hand to conjure an ounce of power but his efforts were dispatched as a beam of blistering orange heat struck his hand. Superman followed it up with a powerful sock to his jaw, rendering him still long enough for Superwoman and Wonder Woman to arrive.
“I tried to reason with you.” The Kryptonian began to pace, circling Adam as he forced himself to hand and knee. “You've allowed hate to take you to a place where there's no coming back from.”
A smile cracked through the blood teeth, “Don't not speak to me as if you understand. I sought to teach you my pain today.. Until you've lost what I've lost.. Superman, I won't stop.” The golden lasso of Wonder Woman then entangled his wrists, bounded him.
Now with the defeated soul in tow the three entered the Fortress of Solitude, the Amazon Princess carting the prisoner. “Be thankful you are allowed to live, in any extent.”
However to her dismay Black Adam was, turning to face the victors as the portal to the twisted void known as the Phantom Zone opened. “I am. No matter where you throw me, Hero, I will find my way back. My mistake was my impatience.. After making it back I stood to cause you pain quickly.. The next time you won't be able to hide her from, Kryptonian. I will kill Lois Lane.”
Merely up on utterance of the name a rage set up the famed hero. Eyes burning red, a violent burst of energy struck the face of Black Adam, rendering him blind. Wonder Woman kept the lasso steady, ensuring Adam was unable to defend himself as a slew of brutal punches were delivered into his skull. “Don't,” A fist struck his chin, “Ever,” his foot stamped down on, crushing his abdomen, “Say her name!”
Superwoman was both shocked and dismayed, unsure of whether or not to intervene on the villains behalf. On one hand she was a soldier and lives are taken in battle but as a lawyer, the important of a trail was not insignificant. “Wait, stop!” Before she could finishing weighing her options she blurted.
Unbeknownst to Superwoman he never had intentions of killing him, not like this, execution was not his style. “I'm done with you.”
“That anger you felt just now,  a fraction of what I feel! I will-” Before he could finish Superwoman blasted the God into the zone, blue smoke radiating off both hands.
“Sorry, it just-like it seemed like he was just going to keep saying the same thing.”
Superman managed to crack a much needed smile, the mood still very tense by the previous presence of Black Adam. “It's a good thing your friend came when she did, Diana. I needed a hand there.”
Wonder Woman stared at the giant “S” on her chest before deadpanning. “It's safe to say she's not one of my friends, Superman.”
“I thought she was with you.” Clark raised an eyebrow, both heroes examining the woman with curiosity.
The woman finally spoke up, trying to fight all the starstruck state fighting alongside the Wonder Woman and Superman had her in. “I'm..Well, uh Superwoman, right?” eyes locked with the Kryptonian, checking to see if it was in fact okay to use their patented name, once approved she confirmed. “Yeah, Superwoman.”
Diana stepped forward, forearm extended as she showed her respect with a warriors shake. “I'm honored to have fought alongside you, Superwoman.” She turned to Clark right after, placing her hand on his shoulder to share a few private words. “I really must be going, I have another friend in need.”
Superman shared a warm smile with her, “I think you might be using the word friend wrong, Diana.” Clark placed his hand on her shoulder. “Give her my regards.”
Wonder Woman feigned a puzzled look, slowing removing the hand that rested on her shoulder. “Clark, I-”
“I'm serious. You've never played coy before, now isn't the time to start. You know better than anyone else how easy it is to lose-” Superman caught himself, pinching the bridge of his nose. “Look, I'm just trying to say that-”
The Amazon investigated the self interruption stepping closer, her eyes locked on his. “It sounds like there's something happening and Bruce is keeping secrets again; I expect that much from him. Are you now one in the same?”
His jaw tightened, a series of conflicting emotions visible. “No, Diana.”
“Then prove it.” A golden bundle of magical rope became present, gestured toward him as an invitation.
The Kryptonian turned his back, now looking to Superwoman. “I will, later. I promise. National City needs the House of El right now.” a snap echoed all throughout the area as the duo soared off into the sky above.
Superman dusted his hands having just cleared what should be the very last bit of debris. With the combined forces of the Kryptonian, the mystery woman and National City’s finest they were able to accommodate all those who were displaced during the battle. A week had passed but unfortunately both Supergirl and Manhunter were still unconscious, devastated by their fight with Adam. The duo found a moment to rest, in spite of their continuous work the woman in white had no obvious sign of fatigue.
“For someone so new to being a hero I have to say I'm blown away by how effortless you do it.”
Superwoman shook her head, trying to fight away the smile his kind words encouraged. “Don't tell my ex that, he has a thing for heroes, especially ones with an S on their chest.”
“Oh?” Interest peaked in the Man of Steel. “Is that why you're wearing it then?”
“Oh no, nooooo.” Superwoman couldn't help but emphasize how “winning” an ex back was the last thing on her mind. “The suit wasn't my idea or design.”
“Now I'm interested..” A finger rested on the chin of Kryptonian, pondering deeply.
Chuckling nervously, a guess was made as to what came to mind “In my identity? Who made the suit?”
“No, I know it's you Lucy. I was wondering if you had any plans to tell James, it would change the nature of your relationship. Drastically.”
“If you could rewind to the Lucy part, I would very much like to address it.” Lucy clasped her hands together nervously, trying to keep it together.
“I've been dating your sister for a very long time now. Not only do I know your smile, your voice but I see a lot of Lois in you. Now, this time I can say it to you.. ” Clark suddenly embraced her in a hug. “Welcome to the family, Lucy.”

Supergirl: Legacy
Chapter Twenty Three: You are not alone, Supergirl
Kara’s eyes slowly opened, still flooded with tears from her near brush with death. Somehow she was unscathed, still kneeling but now facing the back of an armor clad woman wielding a shield. The woman smirked at the man hovering above having stopped his final blow with relative ease. Supergirl however could barely force herself to move an inch, overwhelmed by both immense grief and pain. No matter how much she wanted to help she just couldn't find the strength within herself to be of any use and before she knew it, she collapsed. Black Adam peered down, enraged upon seeing a still breathing Supergirl and a new interloper here to mingle in affairs that did not concern them.
Tumblr media
“Princess of the Amazons, this is not your fight. Your interference is a declaration of war against me, one that will not stop with your defeat.” The self proclaimed God set foot on the desecrated streets before the challenger. “Consider those you love before you take another step.”
Wonder Woman grinned, taking a few steps toward Adam in defiance. “I am. Your reign ends here, let's see how you fare with a real God!” “Have it your way then!” Adam threw aside his cape, conjuring electricity in his hands before lunging forward. Upon his approach however came a loud crack from the skies above, a still burning Superman swooped down to meet Adam with fist, sending him hurling back past buildings with immense speed. Wonder Woman stopped in her tracks, side stepping the high speed collision by just merely an inch. Clark stood up slowly, smoke and heat still radiating off his suit from the reentry from space.
“Diana.” Superman glanced over his shoulder, adopting a warm smile at the sight of his friend. “Clark.” The Amazon warrior blew the displaced hair out of her face, “You have impeccable timing.” “He was playing my song, hard not to dance.” The Kryptonian dusted off his hands, now standing upright. “You look.. Good. Bruce tells me you've been spending some time in Gotham with a friend of his.” Wonder Woman raised an eyebrow at the mention of their mutual friend but quickly shifted focus back on his clandestine activities. “So you have been away with Batman.” Wonder Woman shook her head. “Did I forget to mention that? It's-” Wonder Woman quickly drew her shield in anticipation an attack. “The time for talk is later!”
Soon after she shouted Adam had flown back, charging into the middle of the duo before unleashing a flurry of punches. Both Superman and Wonder Woman were well versed in hand to hand but the Kryptonian found himself outfoxed in comparison to his ally. Black Adam exploited this weakness, pressuring Clark with not only his skill but magical attributes that all Kryptonians were vulnerable to. Wonder Woman noticed his efforts however and as soon as the villain tried to strike Superman again she quickly threw her shield to the Kryptonian to give him the upper hand. With shield in hand Adam was smacked away, feeling back from the great force.
“We need a plan, Diana. One that doesn't involve an all out fight in the city.” Superman caught his breath, admiring the craftsmanship of the shield for a moment before tossing it back to its owner. “Thanks for the assist.” “We have to get him out of the city then put an end to him. The longer we try to subdue him the more people we stand to lose.” Wonder Woman was quick to the point, judgement set in stone. “I was thinking something more feasible.” Clark reasoned, uncertain if a being like Adam was even able to perish from normal feats. “I know something that can hold him, we just have to get him there.”
A large crowd gathered on the outskirts of the city, a herd of people shuffled behind blockades at the behest of police officers and firefighters who positioned them for their safety. People clamored, shocked, dismayed and traumatized by the tragedy they barely escaped. Almost all of the city was here, having left during the height of the battle between Black Adam and Supergirl. Several skyscrapers were either toppled outright or set ablaze. In the midst of the crowd stood Lena Luthor, her skin smudged from her narrow escape from a burning building. Despite her recent brush with death her mind was laser focused on trying to contact anyone and everyone who might have the faintest idea about what exactly was happening inside the city. No matter who she called she got no answer, in all her frantic scrolling and typing she accidentally answered a call not realizing who was on the other side.
“Hello?!” Lena put the phone to her ear expecting to hear some reassuring answers. The unexpected sultry voice of the red hair reporter Vicki Vale surprised Lena however. “Lena, it’s so good to hear your voice. Are you in the city? Did you make it out?” The CEO nodded her head, tripping on her own words as she realized who it was. “Vick-yes, I'm fine, I'm fine. How'd you know to call, do you have any idea what's happening?” “I've got my sources but that's why I called, did you see anything. No one knows what's happening, I can get ahead of everyone on this-” Realizing she was being probed for information in a situation where her friends and Kara were in stake, the young CEO suddenly erupted. “Is that you called me for? Information? You have the audacity to phone me in search of another headline? People are dying, Vicki. Do you have a single shred of decency left in your body?” Vale scoffed, barking back with her own self assured righteousness. “I'm reporting the news, Lena. People need to know what's happening, I'm-” The young Luthor abruptly interrupted her, losing her composure. “A snake. Your tabloid journalism is a joke. It almost lacks as much substance as you, Vicki. Lose my number.. don't call me again.”
Lena knew her outburst was in part due to what was going on in the city but she couldn't be bothered to feign the slightest of care about the reporter’s emotions or lack thereof. The last time she saw Kara she was being beaten mercilessly at the hands of Black Adam and her mind could only imagine what horrors she was enduring now. Her lip quivered as the thoughts raced in her mind, fighting back tears as water welled in each corner of her eyes.
The debris of collapsing buildings formed a cloud of smoke over the streets of National City, bits and pieces of paper floated aimlessly around every corner. A dedicated group of firefighters and police officers were still searching through the wreckage, looking for survivors and anyone in need of assistance. Maggie was amongst them, now donning proper rescue gear so she wouldn't succumb to the hazardous fumes around them.
The detective took the lead, directing them toward a building that was brimming with smoke and flame.
“This is it, last one we need to clear. Breach on my signal.” The cop analyzed the structure before them, judging the damage sustained and the risk they might be taking upon entering. She had concerns but the lives at stake outweighed the risk. “Are we good?” The young men holding their axes in anticipation of her response looked to her for confirmation, trusting her judgement. Maggie closed her fist, giving the go ahead to the men to knock their way inside. “We have to move quickly, this building is compromised and the fire is still burning where it counts.”
The group scoured every inch of the charred area, looking high and low for any sign of life. The group discovered a few civilians left behind, their skin black from the ashes. Maggie leaned down, wiping away the grit from one of their faces so she could better see her own. Her face radiated with warmth, dimples showing and all. With the civilians in tow they rushed for the door but were cut off by the collapse of the entryway. Maggie turned on her heel, looking for another solution but the imminent collapse was making it hard to focus. The ceiling suddenly gave way, falling toward the fighters who all braced for a sudden and painful death. However the impact never came and as they looked up they saw all the debris suspended in a blue field of energy. At the center of it all was a woman in red, white and blue; an S embroidered on her chest. The woman smirked uneasily before telling them to go.
“Don't just stare at me, go!” The woman’s eyes radiated of a pure heat as a concentrated beam of orange launched toward what used to be the entryway. Now with an exit the group got the survivors to safety but not before thanking the mysterious woman in white.

Paradise Island
Themy-what? (Kate’s POV)
My life is a wreck. I was faintly holding the wooden planks which were now keeping me floating on the surface. I had no idea how long I was in the water, frankly everything was a bit blurry since I fell off of the ship. Of course no one bothered to help, no one wanted to be willingly connected to the drunk socialite from Gotham. Katherine Kane, twenty three years old, dishonorably discharged from the army for being gay. I could still hear the voice of my dad reading the letter from the West Point Marines. I ran my hand through my damp hair, unfortunately there was a lot of blood. Annoyed growl escaped past my lips, I must have hit a reef or something like that. Intolerable thirst was making me feel even more dizzy. I tried to look around, I really did but it was pointless. All I could see was water. An insane amount of water. Water that I couldn’t drink. Fuck… I closed my eyes and prayed that the end would come quickly.
It didn’t take long or maybe it did, I passed out so it was hard to say exactly. Someone was dragging me out of the water, the feeling of the solid ground under me was more than appreciated by my body. Every single muscle felt sore. Strong finger was gently copying my jawline before moving the strands of hair away from my face. I had no chance to take a look at my saviour thanks to the sun shining directly into my eyes. The dark silhouette probably realized my intentions and moved slightly to the right side, providing a cover from the sunlight. I focused my gaze on the face in front of me. As soon as I did that, all the oxygen left my lungs.
“W-who are you?” I stuttered out, my voice hoarse and low.
“Diana.” She answered without hesitation, immense grin not leaving her face. Face that had to be sculpted by gods, I swear. There were other questions on my mind but the thirst and the hunger brought me back to reality.
“D-do you...wat-water?” It was getting progressively harder to talk.
“Oh…” The expression on her face changed, the smile was still there, but she looked a little ashamed. Maybe because she didn’t think about offering it first? It didn’t matter to me at that moment, I was happy to see her jump up and run somewhere behind me. Turning my head proved to be an impossible task so I just waited. Imagine my surprise when instead of opening and closing the car door, I heard neighing and hoofs. No way...That’s not a hor- Yes. I didn’t even finish my thought before Diana appeared back in my line of sight, huge black horse following her like a puppy.
“Where…”
“Drink first.” She stopped me and handed me a small leather bottle. It was filled with delicious cold water, that was revitalizing every organ in my half dead body. However it didn’t help with the agonizing pain pulsing in my head. I tried to look around, I was stuck on an island that was for sure avoided by technology for years. Or maybe I was just lucky to meet the prettiest woman who decided to take her horse for a ride? My eyes found Diana again, after assessing her outfit, I could safely say that it was definitely the first option.
“Thank you…” I closed my eyes for a brief moment, deciding if my skull was going to explode or not, “So where am I?”
“Themyscira.” She flashed a smile in my direction, kneeling next to my side again.
“Themy-what?”
“Themyscira…” The soft chuckle escaped through her lips and my head started spinning, “You are from the outside world, you must tell me about it.”
“Outside world? What are you talking about?” Confusion was slowly overcoming my mind. Not to mention the wound on my head that was bleeding again. I couldn’t stop the groan that build up in my throat.
“Are you hurt?” The woman’s hand moved quickly around my body, trying to find the source of the pain. Her fingers skated into my hair, forcing me to turn my head; revealing the laceration, “This doesn’t look good.”
“Doesn’t feel good either…” I cracked a small smile and her eyes sparkled immediately.
“I will take you to my mother, she’ll get someone to take care of that.”
“You’ll take me…” I stood up with Diana’s help, my legs almost giving up on me, “On that?”
“On my horse, yes.” She narrowed her eyes, curious about my reaction.
“I’m not sure if I want to ride that thing.”
I gathered all the strength that I had left and refused to move any closer to the four legged creature. Imagine my surprise when the stranger picked me up like I was nothing and carried me over to the horse; my protests long forgotten. I was put up on the horse, barely breathing and afraid to move. Diana quickly jumped behind me, her body pressing against me was not helping me with my breathing issue. Strong arms locked around me, holding the reins and leading the horse inland, away from the ocean.
Next time I opened my eyes, I was in a warm dark room. Fuck...did I pass out again… There was a bandage on my head and tray with food next to the bed. I tried to reach for it but the sharp pain in my chest threw me back to the sheets.
“Stop, you’ll hurt yourself even more.” Worried voice sounded somewhere near the door, “Let me help.” Diana was by my side in an instant, her hand on my chest softly pushing me down. Without hesitation I accepted a piece of meat that the woman brought to my lips.
“Should I start calling you my saviour now?”
“Hmm...and how should I call you?” She tilted her head, the brown piercing eyes looking entertained at me.
“I...uh...I...Kate.” There was something about that gaze that made me stammer. Can I be more gay?
“What are you doing here, Kate?”
“Well...I’d also love to know.”
“How did you find this island?” Her voice was stern but her expression was still friendly.
“I don’t...wait... is this an interrogation?” I wanted to sit up but her hand was restricting my movements.
“I promised my mother to find out...before…”
“Before?” Sudden wave of panic washed over me.
“Before she would do what she should with an outsider.” Diana vaguely explained.
“Uhm...outsider? W-Who exactly is your mother?”
“Hippolyta. She’s the queen of the Amazons.”
“Right…”
She was watching me cautiously. It was my luck to end on the island of crazy women. I mean, don’t get me wrong, island full of women sounds nice, but everyone knows that the Amazons are just legends, that means these women are most likely insane. Diana was still staring at me, her hand didn’t move so I know that escaping wasn’t an option. I had to play along with this fairytale. I’d kill for a drink now… I probably could ask her if they have alcohol here but I had a history of not making the best choices under the influence.
“So, Kate, how did you get here?” She asked again, patiently waiting for any explanation.
“I...uh this is embarrassing...I was in the army and they-” I started.
“Oh, are you also a warrior?”
“Wha-yeah...yeah, something like that. They...they kicked me out because I...I am gay.” I broke the eye contact right away after saying that. I was dead set on not hiding this part of me. Never again.
“Gay?” Her voice was colored by amusement.
“I-I sleep with women instead of men?”
“I know what it means.” Diana chuckled and continued, “Why would they not let you fight just because of that?”
“You don’t have any men between the...the Amazons right?” I waited for her subtle nod, fucking fairytale, “So it’s normal here for women to…”
“To give pleasure to each other? Yes.”
“In-in the outside world, it’s not considered normal.” All of the sudden I started to feel ashamed. She moved her hand upwards, her fingers resting on my cheek, forcing me to look back at her again.
“That still doesn’t explain-”
“How I got here? Let me finish...I went home and I-I started drinking and it got out of control. I was on a cruise ship one day, with the rest of the Gotham socialites...and I fell off and yeah...here I am.”
“You must have been a pretty clumsy warrior…” Diana said nonchalantly. Her oblivious attitude made me smile; unknowingly.
“That was not the point of the story…” She shrugged and moved the hand away as a gesture of trust.
Then our little conversation got interrupted by other Amazons? marching into the room. I moved back but without Diana’s hand holding me down, my whole body followed quicker than I intended. The sharp pain in my chest paralyzed me and I couldn’t prevent my head from hitting the wall. Last thing I saw before passing out again was her worried expression.
“Mother stop!” I heard Diana yelling before the freezing water splashed into my face, definitely making sure that I was awake and very aware of my situation. I opened my eyes, gasping for air. My gaze settled on a woman that was standing in front of me, empty bucket swinging in her hand. Another tall woman was standing next to her, long brown cloak decorating her armor. The small gold crown-like thing on her head was enough for me to understand who she was. Hippolyta… Her daughter, Princess Diana was standing on the other side, horrified expression on her face showing her disagreement. My arms were up, two other women holding me firmly in my place. I opened my mouth to say something but another splash of chilly water stopped me.
“Epione! That’s enough! Mother...you can’t do this…she didn’t harm anyone!” Diana’s vain attempts to still be my saviour only ended with more bucket’s being emptied directly into my face to ensure that I am conscious.
“Yet, she didn’t harm anyone yet. You don’t know what an outsider can do.” The queen turned around and nodded to one of my captors. Without a word, the Amazon slipped a tiny rope around me. Funny how far crazy people can go, huh?
“Tell us your name.” Another one of them ordered. She looked awful lot like the queen, except that she was holding a bow and she had no cloak or crown. I didn’t want to talk, however the rope around my arm started to burn. I ignored the pain for a while, trying to not give them the pleasure to hear me whimper but it was impossible to resist.
“Kat-Katherine Kane.” I spat out, glaring at the only person in this room who showed some compassion to me. Diana lowered her head, her face contorted in pain. Not too fond of hurting people?...
“How did you find us?” The second round of interrogating wasn’t as enjoyable as the first one.
“I...I already said it once…” My eyes didn’t move from their so called princess.
“Answer!” Hippolyta didn’t look like she would be willing to argue with me; or her daughter.
“Uh...just...fuck off, crazy bi-” Mistake, Kate. I swallowed another painful moan as the rope tightened. I noticed the small yellow glow that was enveloping my arm. No way...that can’t be… I always thought it was funny when people were so convinced about something and at some point they realized that they got it all wrong, but let me tell you being on the other side wasn’t that funny. Apparently these women were not playing on anything and the only crazy one here was the outsider who tried to resist. Even though I heard a lot about Amazons in my life, I was never able to believe that they were real. Until now, this was without a doubt the lasso of Hestia that my father told me about.
“I fell off the ship...passed out and the ocean carried me to the shore.” I was praying that this would be enough as an explanation, obviously that would be way too easy for me.
“What ship?”
“That’s none of your bus-” Another string of pain shot through my body. I was always the one to learn the hard way. Fortunately I didn’t need more to decide that if I want to survive next few minutes, I should start cooperating.
“What ship?” The queen knelt down in front of me and I could swear that she was aware of my realization.
“C-cruise ship...I...I was drunk…” By the sounds that my answer elicited, I realized that there were other Amazons behind me; and it wasn’t just a couple of them.
“My daughter told me that you are a warrior in the outside world…” Hippolyta said with a mocking smirk, “What were you doing on this...cruise ship?”
“I-I was a warrior, I got kicked out…” Even more laughter erupted in the room. Yes, that’s me the laughing-stock for Amazons and everyone else…
“Why?” Oh fuck no…
“I…” Everyone was quietly waiting for my answer, Diana took a step forward but before she could defend me I finished my sentence, knowing that I had nothing else to lose, “Because I prefer women more than men...I...I am gay.”
And just like that the mocking smirk disappeared from Hippolyta’s face. She nodded to the Amazons who were holding me to let me go, taking the rope away. Diana hesitated a little before she took the last two steps to my side and helped me up to my feet. I didn’t look at her, I didn’t look at anyone.
“We can’t just let her go…”
“Antiope, we-”
“Quiet.” The queen stopped her daughter, “What do you think we should do with you, Katherine Kane?”
“L-let me go?” My voice didn’t sound like me. I could feel Diana’s fingers digging deeper into my skin, Not the right answer,
“She will tell everyone about us!” The one with the bucket shouted. Epione, that was her name.
“I won’t…”
“Of course you will, you are a human…” Antiope scoffed and moved closer. In a matter of seconds, the Amazon princess stepped between me and her fellow warrior. The gesture that startled even her mother.
“She can stay here, with us…” Diana started, “We don’t have to kill her and if she will stay, she won’t be able to tell anyone…” That makes sense...except the part of me staying…
“My dear Diana...what would you suggest that the outsider would do here?” I was almost sure that this Antiope had to be sister of the queen, but for obvious reasons I didn’t dare to ask. Listening to what my saviour prepared for my defense seemed like a better choice.
“She can train with us, learn about...about things that they don’t have in her world…” To be honest being stuck on the paradise island with her didn’t sound that bad…
“That is a crazy talk!” Epione jumped into the conversation again.
“Mother…” Diana pleaded one more time.
“I will allow that.” Everyone was taken back by her decision, “But she will be your responsibility, Diana. If something happens, you will be the one to deal with her.” Deal with her? So the death sentence is still an option…
“I understand, mother.”
“Then it’s decided. You are allowed to stay with us, Katherine Kane. You are allowed to train and study our culture but make no mistake, we will be watching you.” Hippolyta’s facial expression was unreadable but from her eyes I could say that she was proud of what her daughter just did.
The other Amazons were leaving the room quickly, not even bothering with giving me another look. When it was just me and Diana, she finally turned around to face me. I gulped audibly and it echoed through the now empty room. Tears were flooding my eyes and I was fighting to hold myself together under her wary gaze. It didn’t take long before I gave up and fell to my knees, sobbing. Millions of questions appeared on my mind. Will I ever see my family again? Are they even looking for me? Am I going to survive here? She stood there silently for awhile. I tried to control my emotions but it was impossible. The reality has reached my mind and I was not able to cope with it. I suppose it had to look pathetic, because it took only few more minutes before my saviour also left the room, leaving me alone with my thoughts.

Batwoman, Wonder Woman: Legacy
Chapter Five - The Show
Diana jumped to the left, swiftly dodging the Bat’s attack. She had to decide quickly about her next action. She could capture the redhead without hurting her but Wonder Woman could also stand to punch some sense into her. Before she could consider her options, Batwoman attempted to hit the goddess again. However once again, Diana leaned to the side and gently sent her opponent flying through the street. It didn’t really take much of her strength to do that but to her surprise, the response from the redhead was instant. A little bat shaped bomb was stuck to her bracelet.
Tumblr media
It went off in a second, there was no chance that the Amazon would get hurt by that but it gave her challenger enough time to get close again. Diana could feel the anger rising inside her. She clenched her fists and finally put some effort into the fight. The Bat barely managed to avoid the punch, her hair flew back a bit, clearly showing how much force Wonder Woman was putting into it. Every now and then, between throwing hits around, the goddess checked on Robin’s body. He was still unconscious and she didn’t have a chance to analyse his injuries. The fight was getting longer than she would like. Batwoman was fast, evading most of the punches. Diana had to stop holding back, not only to save Tim but also to stop Klarion. Her eyes found the redhead, preparing for another attack a few metres in front of her.
When the mortal stormed forward, she didn’t hesitate; jumping up and flying directly into the Gotham ‘hero’. Impact seemed inevitable but at the last possible moment, the Bat pulled out the grappling hook and disappeared above the Amazon. Huge smoke cloud was left in the street with Diana standing right in the middle of it. Before she could react, Batwoman dropped back, behind the goddess who was currently trying to catch her breath, hitting the heroine into the face with all strength; at least that’s what Wonder Woman would consider as a full strength. Unfortunately for the redhead, her blow had no other effect than making her opponent even more enraged. With a loud thud, the Bat crashed into the concrete wall of the museum; leaving a huge dent. The Amazon stood up, watching the only person who deserved her attention now. She jumped to the woman, ignoring the blood that was covering the pale jaw, punching her a few more times. Clearly the goddess kept some self control, since her foe was still alive; barely breathing but alive.
“Diana!” Weak voice stopped her, “D-diana...don’t.” “Tim…” Her voice was dangerously low. He saw Wonder Woman losing her judgment once and it wasn’t pretty. Although she was a hero without a doubt, there were moments when she became overcome with her powers. She wouldn’t intentionally kill, however sometimes it was necessary. For example when her challenger wouldn’t give up. Her fingers clutched the Bat’s throat, leaving the mortal gasping for air. “Don’t hurt her…” Tim breathed out, working hard on getting back up. She didn’t even get to answer when another smoke bomb went off, covering the both women from his eyes. He could hear the fight continuing inside, his only chance to save his friend was to explain Diana everything Barb found before it would be too late. Although his previous encounter with Batwoman almost cost him his live and keeping himself conscious was taking all of his strength now, “The mask...is cursed!” He screamed, falling back down. Last thing he saw before passing out again were the flashes of more small bombs from Kate’s arsenal going off in the smoke. Last thing he heard was a really loud crack.
The Amazon heard Robin but was not given any time to answer him. Batwoman landed another hit, even though Diana could feel the change. She was getting weaker, slower, yet she wouldn’t stop fighting. No human would be that stupid and relentless, which only proved that the curse had to be present. Although now Wonder Woman knew what to do to save her fellow superhero, it looked like it wouldn't be that easy. She grabbed the mask and hoped to take it off but without any warnings, she was thrown back. The little smirk decorated her face, obviously the item was curse and protected by magic. The redhead dropped a few more bat bombs around in the smoke but it didn’t help with her plan. She was left kneeling down on the street with the goddess flying towards her; full speed. Diana had to take a calculated risk, her full speed should be enough to break the mask, but if she wouldn’t stop at the right time, Batwoman’s skull would be crushed in a matter of seconds. The Amazon closed her eyes right before reaching the mortal, stopping her movements after hearing the crack. She remembered how the Bat reacted about taking off her mask in the clock tower. With a deep breath, Diana opened her eyes again and almost choked. An instant wave of regret flooded her mind and tears flooded her eyes at the same time. The only person who was on Wonder Woman’s mind last two days was now right in front of her, struggling to open her eyes.
“Kate…” Tears were racing down her cheeks as she pulled the human closer to her, gently removing the strand of hair from Kane’s face. “Y-you...how?” The redhead stammered and leaned into the familiar touch. “Kate…” The Amazon repeated, her voice merely above whisper, “Your mask was cursed…” She understood why the secret identity of her friend wasn’t the first topic of their conversation. She understood why Batwoman was acting the way she was. Yet, Diana wished it would have been different. The guilt from hurting the Bat was slowly creeping up into her mind, “I-I didn’t know. I never intended to cause you any pain. I-” “Princess…” She interrupted her and chuckled softly, “You can make it up to...me.” “Can I?” Diana smiled, but it didn’t quite reach her eyes. Strong fingers were drifting across Kate’s face and neck, trying to assess her injuries. “We could…” She knew exactly what she wanted to ask, however her courage left as quickly as it appeared and she was left staring up at the goddess in the middle of her sentence. Wonder Woman tilted her head to the side and waited patiently, when Kate tried to look away, she grabbed her chin and forced the eye contact. For the Amazon it was a friendly gesture. For the Batwoman it was something way too intimate. There was a long silence between them, before the Gotham hero finally managed to find her voice again, “We could have a proper training sometime?” “That can be arranged,” Diana nodded and carefully helped Kate into a more comfortable position, “How are you feeling?” “Like…well...like I crashed into a building several times?”  She tried to joke but a serious expression soon appeared on her face, “Did I...did I plant the explosives at…” The Bat wasn’t even able to finish, her eyes glued to the rest of her devices stuck to the bracelets. “You almost killed Tim…” The Amazon moved slightly, making a space for her to see Robin unconscious in the middle of the street. “No, I-I…” Kate leaned forward, hoping to crawl towards his body but her plan was interrupted by a coughing; more blood covering her jaw. “Hey…” Diana pulled her back, her eyes wide open. It wasn’t hard to remember what could have caused this. Wonder Woman sent her flying into the wall with a more than decent gut punch, “Don’t move, Kate.” “I am so sorry…” It was Batwoman’s turn to cry. She knew she didn’t hurt the Amazon that would be an impossible task for her, but Tim, Tim was a different story. Even though Kate knew why he tried to stop her, she couldn’t figure out why would he risk his life instead of contacting Diana right away. She was also sure that Barbara will hate her at least a little for this. She failed in protecting the city, protecting her friends, civilians. She failed. Again. Although this time there were two firm arms wrapped around her, holding her together when she felt like falling apart.
“I knew...you had a heart.” Weak voice brought both women back to reality, “And I was hoping you wouldn't kill her…” Tim smiled at the Amazon who was clearly relieved to see him awake again. “It would have a different outcome if you hadn't…” As always, Diana didn’t take all the credit. She wasn’t happy with this outcome anyway. “Klarion will come for the third item, if he didn’t do that already. I need to go inside but if you’ll wait, I can carry you both home.”
Tim looked at her and his heart almost broke when he took in the appearance of the heroes. Batwoman was absolutely devastated, she didn’t even dare to move her eyes from the ground. Her fingers desperately grasping Diana’s armor, hoping to reach at least some kind of safety, something to hold her together. Wonder Woman was kneeling next to her, unharmed but evidently dealing with her own problems in her mind. However the expression on her face was showing two obvious things. She was dedicated to provide everything that Kate could need and she was absolutely disgusted by the idea of letting go even if it was just for a couple of minutes to check on the magic item.
“I...you should get her home, I can..get a cab.” He smirked, dead set on giving them some time alone. “Are you sure?” The Amazon asked, not catching up on why he would do that. “Yeah, I am...I won’t be alone, Barb is waiting for me.” “Alright.” She nodded, leaning closer to the redhead, “You stay here, I’ll be right back. I promise.” “Diana…” Tim called when she started walking towards the door, “It’s not your fault.” He knew he was right back in the clock tower. She enjoyed time with Kate and now she was blaming herself for hurting her, even though she couldn’t know. “Just...get home safe.” Her voice dull, empty. Robin nodded and watched her disappear in the building.
Kate was still sitting on the ground, not moving, not saying anything. She was shaking slightly, tears never stopped flooding her eyes. First, Tim thought that Kate was in some kind of a shock but upon closer inspection, he saw the fear in her features. He slowly realized what went on in her mind. She put several civilians in danger. She almost killed him and she attempted to kill the woman she is crushing on.
“Kate…” His voice was soothing, unfortunately it wasn’t enough to snap her out of it, “I know you couldn’t control it. Barb knows too. We are both alive, no one died...that’s what matters right?” He waited for an answer but she didn’t give him any, “I’ll go now, Diana should be back soon. I...if you could see the way she looks at you, she’s there for you, Kate...and so are we. Whenever you’ll be ready.” With that he stood up and proceeded to walk across the street, almost missing the whispered thank you from her.
While the battle simmered down on the Gotham city streets, a shadowy sly figure made its way into the hollow halls of the fine arts and antiques museum. The witch boy had come to collect the final piece of the unholy collection. His nimble fingers panned over the thin glass panels that protected the item he needed but before Klarion could finally get the item, rather loud noise accompanying dynamic entrance of the heroine interrupted him.
“Oh, brother, it's Miss America again..” The sorcerer rolled his eyes, poking fun at the ensemble she often bore. However the Goddess found even less humor in his jokes than before, a fire was burning inside of her and she had come to enact justice in the most brutal of ways. “Klarion, I'll have no more of your games! This ends here and now. You have one last chance to come quietly.” The Amazon knew a spawn of darkness such as Klarion wouldn't surrender without a fight but a part of her was hoping it could happen. She wanted justice for Kate; justice and blood. “We both know I'm never quiet, Wonder-bra, why would that change tonight of all nights?” He laughed, floating around the room freely as if the whole situation was nothing short of a bad joke. “Why do you seek this power, Klarion? To what end? You've caused chaos and anarchy to run rampant, what more do you want?” Despite her rage, Diana was curious about his motivation. “Tch, did the big bad Soft-man ask you to take special care when you're beating on his villains? Hmmph.” Her genuine curiosity and compassion caught the witch boy off guard for a moment, his eyes widened as this side of Wonder Woman was new to him. He quickly snapped out of the trance, making another quip to set the tone of the conversation in his liking, “The chaos is just a byproduct, this is just… Well, let's call it self-preservation.” Wonder Woman didn't follow his line of reasoning but that was to be expected when dealing with the incarnate of anarchy. Klarion grinned, baring his teeth for the woman to see, “I can tell by that stupid look on your face you're still as clueless as ever. Once I'm done here you might want to ask the big boys what they've been up to.”
The goddess was enraged, she threw her shield toward him, nearly striking the witch boy. The jester summoned an aura of purple smoke around both hands before igniting each, grin on his face became more serious. The fight began immediately after, Wonder Woman kept a firm grasp on her shield; batting away all oncoming magical spells that he casted her way. The twisted figure scoured the exhibits around him, searching for anything and everything he could use to his advantage against the Amazon. With his arms outstretched, Klarion casted a spell upon the statues of men and mythical figures to give them the ability to move. Diana halted her approach toward the witch boy, the statues and armor sets animating themselves into fighting positions toward her. She raised her shield, tapping on it loudly, to invite all of those who dared to start a fight with the warrior. All at once they charged in her direction, each bore a different weapon but were equally outskilled, when they attempted to duel with Wonder Woman. It was a display of pure agility and combat prowess as she trumped them each while still finding ways to distract Klarion from reaching the last item.
“You're really starting to tick me off.” Klarion’s appearance morphed as he shouted at Diana, his anger disfiguring him for a moment. “I'm glad to be of service to you, Dark Lord.” Wonder Woman was quick to retort, smirking with a sense of pride.
The eyes of Klarion disappeared as he chanted a spell, his aura radiating brightly with colors of a deep red and purple. Those same colors became present in the eyes of a much larger statue of the titan; Atlas. Unlike the other statues he had possessed, she could feel the dark energy boiling within. It was clear this was a true attempt to bring harm, possibly even death. Like before the Amazon invited the enemy to attack her despite its superior height and mass. Once upon her it swung it's foot, Diana attempted to block it but was disarmed in the process. She quickly regained her focus, turning on her back to stop the incoming force of the titan’s foot. Wonder Woman could feel the power behind the attack, the statue had an impressive amount of strength parallel to enemies she had faced in the past. No longer containing her strength, the heroine struck the foot of the statue with a single blow; using enough force to topple the titan over. Atlas recovered, he grappled the spherical model of the world he formerly held, throwing it directly at the goddess. As it hurled toward her, Diana matched it's speed, catching up with the sphere only to drop into a slide underneath it. Still sliding, she twirled her lasso, casting it out toward the statue’s neck; yanking it down to her level. Once it keeled to her efforts, the warrior delivered a powerful uppercut; shattering it's head. Atlas slumped, the dark magic inside leaving like a vapor. Klarion had managed to assemble what he needed in order to begin his process but not realizing that there were no longer any enemies to distract his opponent. The lasso wrapped around the Green Bell of Uthool just as the witch began to chant the cursed words, interrupting the spell and putting one of the three mystical items in the hands of the Amazon. Klarion hissed, once again losing his human appearance as the anger welled inside his gut.
“No fair, no fair.” Klarion spat fire into the air, setting his sights on her before casting a purple bolt of lightning toward her chest. Diana clasped her forearms together on its approach, deflecting back the bolt with her bracelets. Along with the spell came her own power, a concussive blast signature of Wonder Woman. The impending blast disintegrated the witch boy; quickly turning him to ashes. The Princess was relieved at the sight but that soon changed after he reformed right before her very eyes. No matter what she did to strike him, Diana always found herself seemingly unable to cause Klarion any real harm. He simply reformed every time, mocking the Amazon with mimicking voices and crude shapeshifting to play on her emotions. She only succeeded in tiring herself out as the fight drew out longer.
Kate sat in the safety of the night, her mind struggled to come to terms with the abuse she suffered at the hands of Klarion. Almost all at once she could remember her actions while under the curse; the memories nearly brought her to tears. However the job wasn't done, the villain wasn't behind bars. The city belonged to her now, Bruce left her in charge, not Diana. If anyone was going to bring the witch boy down, it had to be her. Batwoman moved toward the museum, breaking into as much as a sprint as possible in her condition.
“Barb, are you there?” The redhead opened a line to the watchtower, her voice was still somewhat rattled but her confidence was building with each passing moment. “Ka-Batwoman, I'm here, where are you?” Oracle was caught off guard, surprised her friend was still standing after going to to toe with the goddess. “I'm downtown at the Gotham museum of Antiquities. Triangulate my location, I'll be needing a few favors.” “Are you certain it's smart to get involved while, let's say, shit faced?” Oracle did a double take, both worried and confused for a moment. “It's not the smart thing to do, but it's the right thing to do.” Batwoman launched the grappling hook onto the ledge of the museum, “I need an armor drop, batsuit v8.04; something resistant to wear and tear...and Barb, I need everything we have on Klarion. Everything.” “Payload will drop in forty seconds and I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I went over everything that was relevant to Klarion.” With the light tap of a few keys the Batwing was loaded and on its way toward Batwoman’s location. “I know, Barbara. I need his personal files, I need access to Bruce’s index.” “Yeah I'd love access to everything but there's even limits to what I can see, Kate.”  Oracle scoffed. “You're a hacker...if there's anyone who could pull this off it's you.” Batwoman sighed, closing her eyes for a moment, “Look, Diana has been in there for quite some time now so I’m guessing that she needs help. We need to know how he went down the first time all those years ago, for her sake and mine. I can't walk away from this, I can't walk away from her and I'm betting you won't let me walk in there clueless. You'd do the same for Tim.” “Don't think I won't collect on the fat favor you're about to owe me, Kate. Everything's on its way...be safe.” Realizing exactly what Batwoman was implying, Oracle decided to bite the bullet and take the risk. “Wait! I need another favor, last one I swear. Could you kill the lights, cameras, power...everything?” “You know despite the darkness, that'll kind of give away the fact that you're coming, right?” “Maybe...but I plan to put on a show.” Kate chuckled softly. “For Klarion?” The surprise in Barbara’s voice was clearly audible. “Heh,” Batwoman smirked, suiting up with the recently delivered armor set. “No.”
“How does it feel knowing you're only the second strongest superhero and the guy to snuff you out is well, a guy; not just any man either, one named Super...” Attempting to exacerbate the situation even more, Klarion acquired the appearance of Superman, hovering above his opponent. However, Diana didn't have any insecurities about her own power, at least none she was aware of; perhaps it even fueled her to train harder and keep her humbled. “You've failed in getting a rise out of me, Klarion, I would say magic is your only speciality but well...you failed at capturing the physique of Superman as well. What are you good for?”
Klarion quickly took offense, morphing into a mix of black and red before giving his answer; dressed as Batwoman. “Turning your loved ones against you and getting under your skin...”
The smirk that decorated Wonder Woman’s face disappeared, her eyes grew incredibly wide as she took in the monstrosity in front of her. She usually wasn’t affected by emotions but mentioning Kate sent her overboard. Before the Amazon could answer, a sudden, loud thud echoed throughout the museum halls. All the electrical functions of the facility went out at the same time; the alarms, the lights and the cameras. Small, bat-shaped shadow landed next to her.
“Now that hitting him didn’t work, can we try it my way?” Although the redhead could feel pain surging all throughout her body and the dreadful shame sitting on her mind, she pretended a grin. Kate knew that as long as Klarion was still out there, the job wasn’t done; her job wasn’t done. It wasn’t hard for Diana to see through the bluffing smile on the Bat’s face and she felt the sudden urge to protect her companion; but everything she had tried up to this point was frivolous so the help was a welcomed change. “Tell me what you need done.” “This'll sound a bit stupid but...try hitting him again.”
The Amazon quirked her eyebrow but quickly jumped behind the idea after observing the confidence on Batwoman’s face. Now was her chance to prove just how much she trusted the Gotham hero. She charged forward, taking off into a powerful lunge toward Klarion. As soon as Diana made contact with him, she found her sword once again phasing through him; yielding the same result as before. However, this time, the expression of cockiness left the witch boy’s face. She followed his line of sight, finding a smirking Kate with a unique cat in her arms. Suddenly the museum was quiet. The sorcerer didn’t dare to move as the woman came into possession of his partner in crime. Batwoman pressed the edge of a batarang against the neck of the demonic feline, staring down Klarion with a cocky grin across her face.
“Surprised I know your secret? Arrogance is the downfall of man after all, guess that includes you too, even though...you’re just a boy” “Here I thought lesbians loved cats.” Klarion hissed, still not daring to make a move. “Called in a favor, turns out this mystery wasn’t hard to solve. Guess someone let the cat out of the bag.” Kate pressed the sharpened tool harder against the creatures neck; enjoying the sight of the scared witch boy.
However to her surprise, he cracked a smile at the pun she delivered. Satisfied, the redhead traded her batarang for an injector with a syringe full of animal sedative and quickly jabbed the cat. Within seconds Teekl fell asleep, severing the connection that kept the sorcerer on the corporeal plane. Without a conscious familiar, Klarion faded away back to where he came from.
“Show off.” Diana tilted her head, smiling adoringly at Kate. “Well...it worked, right? We got him?” She deadpanned, still not able to look at the goddess in front of her. “I am fairly sure the witch boy enjoyed the show, but do you often do that for villains? I can’t imagine Bruce doing that…” The Amazon’s voice trailed off, but the sparks in her eyes were showing how much relished in teasing the Bat. “No...I di-didn’t...wait…” The redhead’s eyes widen with confusion, however it didn’t take her long until she put the pieces together, “Oh…” Her gaze ended up on the comm device in Diana’s ear. “Technology…” Wonder Woman shrugged, leaning closer to Batwoman. “S-sorry…” Kate whispered when she felt their shoulders brush. She finally gathered enough courage to look at the warrior, her fingers softly grazing the fur of the cat in her arms. Right at that moment, she didn’t feel like a hero. Right at that moment, when their eyes met, the Bat tripped over her own feet and if it wouldn’t be for Diana’s inhuman reactions, the feline companion of Klarion would end up crushed under her body. Strong arms held the fragile mortal up away from the dangerous concrete. Shivers ran down Kate’s spine when the realization of how close she was to the goddess struck her. Unfortunately, a sting of pain in her stomach broke the moment for both of them and the redhead fell onto the Amazon completely. “Kate…” Diana scooped her up without hesitation and jumped up in the air, “I’ll get you back to your friends.” “No...d-don’t, not there…” Quick answer took Wonder Woman by surprise but the Bat wasn’t done talking, “B-batcave.” “Kane tower?” She pulled her closer, planting a gentle kiss on top of Kate’s head after feeling the slight nod.
The rest of the journey was quiet. They reached the tower in record time, well if Batwoman would be able to fly, it would probably be different. Before Kate could protest, the heat radiating from the Amazon was gone and replaced by a warm blanket that Diana quickly threw over her. Everything was a little hazy for the young heroine, she could hear the goddess talking with someone but she couldn’t focus enough to recognize who. However what she could recognize, was Diana’s voice barely above whisper, telling her that she will be right back. After that her brain short circuited, after that Wonder Woman’s delicate lips pressed against hers.

Batwoman, Wonder Woman: Legacy
Chapter Four - Predictable One
Batwoman followed Diana out of the clock tower into the city. It was getting dark but it wasn’t hard for her to keep up with the Amazon. At least it wasn't until the annoying thudding in her head returned with a much stronger force than before. She managed to ignore it at first and follow Wonder Woman around Gotham, however as they passed by the Kane tower the pain became unbearable and the Bat found herself plummeting down toward the street.
Tumblr media
Kate was not able to move, an unwelcomed panic started growing in her guts. There was a slight chance that Diana was looking behind her and saw what was happening but the redhead didn’t count on it. This wasn’t a normal headache and now she certainly wished she had listened to her father and visited a doctor. The ground was getting closer and closer, Batwoman was surely getting some broken bones. She got mentally prepared for the impact, however before that could happen two strong arms wrapped around her and pulled her back up. In a couple of seconds she felt the solid ground under her and someone’s body pressed into her side radiating an insane amount of warmth; Kate could only hope it was the Amazon.
“What just happened?” a soft and concerned voice filled her head, “Are you okay?” “I...I…” Batwoman tried to talk but her throat was too dry. She managed to gulp few times even though it was obvious that it wouldn't help. At least it gave her time to prepare explanation for her sudden fall. Kate knew she can’t just say that it was a headache, not after Diana saw her having the same issue at the gala. Even though back then it wasn’t so bad she didn’t want to risk anything. “Should I take you back?” The Amazon caressed the Bat’s jaw, forcing the other woman to face her. Although Diana couldn’t say if she is looking at her since half of Kate’s face was hidden behind the mask, the friendly gesture couldn’t hurt. “I just...really need to eat something.” The redhead smiled, finally finding her voice. “Are you sure that’s all?” “Definitely.” Kate nodded, barely covering a loud whine. Moving her head was something that she should probably avoid in next couple of hours but there was no chance of doing it. Looking for Klarion was more important, getting rid of the worried expression on Diana’s face was the second thing on her to do list, after that she could get some rest. “Well then, let’s get you some food.” Wonder Woman smiled and helped her up.
Fortunately feeling the Amazon's body pressed closely against hers, supporting her like she didn’t weight anything proved to be distracting enough from the string of pain currently ravaging her body. Kate could feel her back muscles going spasmodically stiff every couple of seconds but she could also feel Diana’s abs flexing slightly when she was being picked up. The cold air was annoyingly stinging her face and the redhead was only hoping that no one in Gotham is looking up to the sky now. It would be hard to explain why Wonder Woman is flying around with Batwoman in her arms, also it’s certainly not something that the criminals should see. Her gaze shifted back to the woman currently carrying her over the city, she curled closer into the warmth, trying to gain cover from the wind. There were so many emotions going through her head at the same time, her heart rate spiked up but her breathing remained calm and shallow. She was feeling weak and Batwoman doesn’t feel weak. She was also feeling very safe and Kate Kane doesn’t feel safe, she wish she could but it was never an option; until this moment. It would be crazy to think that the goddess wouldn’t be able to protect her, on the other hand that wasn’t something that Kate would want. She was more than capable of taking care of herself. Maybe it didn’t look like that a few minutes ago when she was lifelessly falling to the street but she could. Something inside her was making her feel disgusted about the security that the Amazon provided and the redhead started moving in her arms, trying to find a way to escape. Diana never intended to make her feel uncomfortable, yet when she felt the Bat’s subtle movements, she tighten her grip around her without any hesitation. After a few more metres she started her descent to the nearest roof. As soon as her feet hit the ground, Batwoman gathered all the strength that she had left and pushed her away. There was a sign of confusion on the Amazon’s face and Kate instantly regretted the rushed reaction to the offered help.
“Didn’t think that the Bat would be afraid of flying…” Diana joked but clearly she was upset about the situation. She wasn’t sure if Batwoman got offended by what she did or if there was any other reason for this behaviour. It was in her nature to always help everyone and it was evident that the Gotham hero was in no state of getting to the food source on her own. “I am not.” The redhead answered, “I just think that...if we will separate, we can search more of the city.” “If you think that I’d leave you alone after…” “I’m okay. Thank you for saving me from broken ribs but...there is a restaurant down on the street, I can pick up some food and continue searching.” Kate tried to persuade the Amazon. She really didn't want Diana to leave, in fact she could spend whole night working with her and that’s why Batwoman needed to go. “You are just going to walk into a restaurant like this?” Wonder Woman asked surprised, referring to the Bat costume. “It's Gotham, they are used to it.” “Are you sure? I don't mind going there and getting the food…” Diana offered and watched Kate burst into an adorable giggle. “Right...like you get less attention than me with the way you look.” Before her brain caught up with what she was saying, it was too late. The goddess curiously tilted her head to the side and waited, being once again entertained by Kate’s antics. “I...uuh-I should probably go now.” The Bat said really slowly. She hated when guys were hitting on her like this and now she was the one who did it. Even though she really didn't mean any harm, it was hard to say what was going through the Amazon’s mind right now. Kate could swear that she seemed somewhat pleased. “If you encounter Klarion, how-" “Take this.” The redhead handed her a small communication device, “If I’ll find him, I’ll let you know...but…” “But?” Diana reached for the device, her fingers briefly lingering over Batwoman’s. “It works both ways...if you find him-” “I’ll consider letting you know.” Before she could start protesting, the Amazon walked over to the edge of a roof and added, “Now go get some food, wouldn't want to find you in the middle of the street in few hours.”
What Wonder Woman didn’t know was, that it wouldn't take even half an hour before that could happen. When the Amazon left, Kate took a couple of long breaths, slowly moving towards the fire escape staircase. She reached for the cold metal railing when her legs gave up on her. For the second time in last few minutes, the ground was getting closer and closer and the Bat was helpless. The last thing she perceived was the impact of her body to the cold roof; then it all went black.
“So...what now?” Tim asked unknowingly, looking at his girlfriend. “Now? We can go through the footage from the last crime scene, hopefully we can find something to help.” She exhaled and turned the Gotham news on one of the monitors. “Didn’t you go through that already?” “Not the last one.”
“This is Vicki Vale with latest news from Gotham! Is the city lost without Batman? Last night there was an incident in the museum of Antiquities. A group of armed criminals attempted to steal one of the items from the building while holding several civilians hostage. Thankfully another superhero was visiting and decided to show up just in time. Yes, Wonder Woman prevented them to take the precious artifact and saved the poor visitors. One of the eyewitnesses sent us this exclusive recording of Batwoman arriving at the crime scene with the note saying: ‘You could say she was fashionably late and her skills were ridiculous.’”
Robin went a little closer and watched the news very cautiously. He could see Batwoman using the grappling hook. He could also clearly see that the part of the roof broke and it was hardly Kate’s fault, yet the reporter used it to mock her. Tim growled and clenched his fists when the annoying grin of Vicki Vale appeared on the screen again.
“Maybe next time instead of putting our money to charity, we should pay for training of these so called heroes-”
“Turn it off.” “What a bitch.” Barb scoffed and loaded up the footage from the last crime of the mysterious villain. Tim was awfully quiet, he always hated it when someone was mocking any member of the family. He tried to focus on finding anything that could help them identify this scoundrel. “Wait…” He suddenly jumped towards the table, “Rewind it and watch this shadow.” “This?” Oracle asked, zooming in on the situation in front of them, “That looks like…” “Can you zoom even closer?” Before he finished, Barbara already did what he wanted and the video started playing again. “Tim...That’s not...That’s not possible.” She turned to him, her eyes were wide with consternation. “Call her.” He said, rubbing his neck, “She should know why is he using her weapon.”
Barb nodded and tried the comms; when she received only silence as an answer she tried to call Kate directly on her phone but even that didn’t help. She took a deep breath and looked at the screen again. It was hard for her to accept that someone else from the Bat family could be evil. Even harder to accept that it would be one of her closest friends. If it really was true and Kate was the mysterious villain then there was only one person in the city who would be able to defeat her. However, Barbara knew that she will need more than a lousy video as a proof to ask Wonder Woman for help.
“Do you have files about the last fight between Batman and Klarion?” Tim asked all of sudden. “I can find them, why? What are you thinking about?” “It doesn’t make any sense, there is no one else with a weapon like this.” Robin was thinking out loud, “If Klarion is capable of using magic...maybe he...maybe he made her do it?” “I’ll find the files.” Oracle nodded as she look into his hopeful eyes, “What if…” “Don’t.” He dismissed the idea of Kate being evil without even thinking about it. “Tim, we have to consider every option.” Barbara deadpanned, her voice shaking. “If it is really her.” He put a hand on her shoulder and gently squeezed, “I will stop her, without hurting her.” “You seriously think, that you can just go and beat Batwoman.” She frowned and put the notes on the big monitor. “Someone will have to do it, Barb.”
Without further conversation, both of them started going through the files. If there was anything that could help explain what is happening with Kate Kane, Oracle would not miss it; Although there wasn’t much to begin with. Bruce kept the his notes short and most of it was just useless discoveries or personal observations. Tim was slowly giving up, he knew that Barbara was right, there was no way of him defeating Kate but he wouldn’t let anyone else to do this job. His gaze fell at his girlfriend desperately trying to find even a smallest clue that would salvaged Batwoman right now. The Amazon would be able to overpower the Bat alone and most likely in matter of minutes but they all knew about her methods. Diana was against killing but if it was necessary she would do anything to protect the innocent. He ran his hand through Barb’s hair, closing his eyes and already trying to figure out how they will tell all this to Bruce.
“Look!” Oracle’s voice pulled him out of preparing his speech. “Curse?” Tim whispered, quickly skimming through the text, “Robin started acting weird...headaches...Klarion is definitely controlling him somehow...cursed mask.” “Kate did suffer from headaches lately.” Barbara exhaled, the happiness sneaking back into her voice. “We have to try and get the mask off.” He said, picking up his mask and getting ready to go. “Wait...y-you can’t…” “There is no one else who can do it.” Tim kneeled down in front of her, taking her hands into his, “I can do it.” “You don’t know if the mask is enhancing her physical abilities, you don’t even know if she is conscious…” “Barbara…” He smiled and pulled her in for a kiss, “I have to do it, I have to.” “You don’t have to prove anything to anyone, Tim...you don’t even know where she is.” Oracle shook her head, trying her best to persuade him to not go but she knew that this is the only chance. Of course they could ask Diana but she would certainly not play on coincidence. Unless they were sure that Kate was actually cursed, a fight with Wonder Woman could be deadly for their friend. “You can find her...I can take care of her. As a team...like old times.” He kissed her again before standing up and going to the secret exit. “Just...be careful and come back.” Barbara smiled sadly, turning back to the computer and working on finding the Bat.
Diana was on her way to the location of the second magical item. It took her a couple of minutes to get there, she used this time to retrace her day, which is a thing that was usually not necessary. This time though, her mind promptly drifted to her morning session with the daughter of Colonel Kane. The Amazon felt bad about leaving so fast and without any explanation, she enjoyed her time with Kate. On the other side, that was her job as Wonder Woman, whenever help was needed, she went there without giving it a second thought. That also meant, barely having enough time to do anything for herself, such as giving training lesson to a captivating young woman. She decided to do it at least once more before leaving Gotham. Then there was the situation with the Bat. Diana was glad that they managed to resolve the problems but she was feeling a little confused about the behavior of Batwoman. Although, most of the time Diana found human reactions irrational and for her, definitely amusing. The comms that she now shared with the Gotham hero were quiet. For some reason, it made her feel less worried. It wasn’t a question of underestimating others but she was a goddess and her presence in a fight with Klarion would certainly be better for everyone; except him. She landed right next to the item, the Silver Wheel of Nyorlath. Some of the weight was lifted from her shoulders when she saw the item stand in it’s place. However something seemed off, Wonder Woman looked around, analysing every corner and possible hiding place.
“I know you are here.” Her voice echoed through the empty room. “I am impressed…” The evil chuckle and a dull thump behind her was exactly what she expected. “You are predictable.” She turned on her heel, her hand resting near the lasso, while the other reached for the communication device, “I found him.” “I am afraid that your friend is not in reach, Princess.” Klarion smiled, accompanied by meowing of his cat. “I don’t need my friend to take care of you.” The Amazon smirked, “You’ll never get the items, give it up now and save us both some time.” “See…” Klarion started walking around the room, her eyes not leaving Diana, “That’s where we disagree. I am getting this one without a doubt.” “You seem awfully sure about that.” Even though magic could not hurt her much, it was indisputable that the witch boy had a plan and she would be a fool to rush in. “Well, what can I say...your friend was a great addition to the team.” “I...what?” Diana was caught by surprise. “Your friend...the Bat, she’s wonderful, isn’t she? A little too stubborn for my taste but still an incredible helper.” Klarion was enjoying the changing emotions on Wonder Woman’s face. “She would never help you.” She scoffed. Batwoman was hard to read but one thing was undeniable, Bruce would not leave anyone evil in charge. “Oh, I can be very persuasive. Want to see?”
Before Diana could answer a computer monitor lit up with a live feed from security camera near the Gotham museum. Upon closer inspection, she could recognize the redhead tying up hostages and putting them into a back of a truck. On the ground next to her, there was something dangerously reminding her of a huge bomb. Batwoman didn’t get the package, her intentions were interrupted by someone else. Robin landed in front of the car, immediately gaining her attention. It didn’t make much sense to the Amazon, she talked with the Bat, she should have noticed something amiss but she didn’t and now all of these civilians were in danger; and now even Tim. Wonder Woman saw him fight before and she hated to come to this conclusion but if only half of what she heard about Batwoman was true, Robin would be dead in couple of minutes. When the redhead leaped forward and threw him across the street, Diana averted her gaze from the screen.
“What did you do to her.” She growled at Klarion when he started giggling like crazy. “Merely offered her a chance to join the winning side.” He tilted his head with a cocky smile, “Because right now...right now you are losing.” “This is not over.” “Now who is the predictable one, I’d love to say see you at the Red Jar but it looks like you’ll be busy for quite some time now, Princess.”
There was no time left to deal with the little brat and Diana was very aware of that. She clenched her jaw and jumped into the air, flying rapidly towards Gotham. Klarion won the first round and he was right, she would hardly get to Red Jar of Calythos in time to stop him. The only soothing fact was that all items were needed to perform the ritual and there was would still be one more. The Amazon reached the city in a record time, however when she got to the museum her breath got stuck in her throat. Batwoman was straddling Robin’s near lifeless body with a knife in her hand, wiping the blood from her jaw with the other one. Hostages were still in the truck but the cloth cover from the back was gone and they could all see what was happening around them. Without further hesitation, Diana flew down, her body crashing into the redhead. In a matter of seconds, she released the civilians, ordering them to run and proceeding into the middle of the street. Just in time to face the Bat who now had blood on more places than just her jaw. Nonetheless she was not fazed by that because as soon as her body regained some stability, Batwoman rushed towards the goddess, not thinking about the consequences.

Batwoman, Wonder Woman: Legacy
Chapter Three - Sharing Secrets
Batwoman arrived in front of the Gotham museum a few minutes after the police. She knew that Diana most likely solved the problem but she really wanted to see the goddess again; even though this time, Wonder Woman would hopefully not recognize her. The loud engine of a black and red Ducati roared and the noise attracted the attention of civilians standing outside. Kate looked around, carefully assessing every detail around. She saw Diana standing near one of the police officers and then jumping away surprisingly fast. The bewilderment on Amazon’s face was hard to miss.
Tumblr media
Batwoman’s arrival started causing more and more unwanted commotion from the civilians. Kate jumped off of the bike and without hesitation followed Diana up to the roof. As she was getting closer to the edge of the building, the grappling hook wobbled more and more. The redhead was used to the feeling that it would break and she knew she would be forced to use her cape to fly back down to the street however doing that in front of the Wonder Woman would probably not be that impressive. She tried to reach the roof with her hand but before she could the rope broke and a loud thud followed as the hook fell down to the ground with a few pieces of bricks. Kate eventually pulled herself up and landed on her feet. Unfortunately Diana was already staring in her direction, clearly fighting the urge to chuckle. Batwoman cleared her throat, took a deep breath and proceeded to walk towards the other heroine.
“I expected Batman to show up.” The Amazon started the conversation, failing to hide the spark of interest in her eyes as she took in Kate’s appearance. “Am I not enough?” The Bat joked back, one hand resting on her hips. Kate was feeling more confident hidden behind the bat-shaped mask, plus she didn’t miss the sparkle in Diana’s eyes, it was easy to use that to her advantage. Batwoman’s suit was completely copying her toned body, making her muscles visible at all the right places. Since she was aware of that, Kate continued to innocently flex and Diana continued to enjoy the view for a while. “Hard to say after that landing…” Her voice was merely above whisper but it was enough to snap them both out of the moment. “I...uh…” Kate clenched her jaw, trying to change the topic, “What did the cop want?” “Hm?” “Saw you talking with an officer Grogan...then jumping to the roof right away...did he say something?” The redhead explained and patiently waited for the answer. “Oh this guy…” Wonder Woman laughed, her laughter was different than at the gala, not as much energetic as before, “Let’s just say that...he could learn how to be more thankful.” “He’s a dick.” Kate growled and leaned back on the small wall decorating the edge of the roof. “That’s not very nice…” Soft chuckle escaped past Amazon’s lips, she didn’t try to contain it this time. “And why the quick escape? Did he scare you with the rudeness?” “That’s why I was hoping for Batman…” “Ouch…” Kate repeated Diana’s gesture from this morning and discreetly stared at her, hoping to get any kind of reaction, “So I am not enough.” “Nothing against you...I worked with him a couple of times and we...well...we make a good team.” She answered with a grin on her face, clearly remembering the times with Bruce. “Ah.” Batwoman leaped up on the wall, ignoring the sting of jealousy in her chest, “Sorry to disappoint you but he had to leave...unfinished business.” “Would you be willing to help?” Diana tilted her head to the side, her gaze not leaving Kate’s face. “I wouldn’t want to make it harder for you.” The bat retorted. She caught the sight of amused brown eyes following her every movement. “Clock tower, in an hour.” With that, she jumped off the roof and left the Amazon alone.
Kate crashed into the couch in the middle of the clock tower hideout with a long whine. It was hard enough to deal with all the villains, now she had to deal with Wonder Woman and most importantly her uncontrollable desire to be near the goddess for as long as she could; the headaches didn’t help. She stretched her neck, hoping to relieve the numb pain. Sound of an approaching wheelchair pulled her out of her thoughts.
“Still having those headaches?” a strong voice cut through the sudden silence in the room. “Mhmm.” The redhead scoffed. She tilted her head forward and opened her eyes. Oracle was sitting right in front of her. Kate was often wondering how Barbara Gordon was dealing so well with not being able to be Batgirl anymore. It was hard for her to imagine that she could end up in a wheelchair. Batwoman was a huge part of Kate’s identity, no matter how hard she tried to keep her secret life separate. She admired Barbara for not giving up, for becoming the Oracle and continuing to help the bat family. “Why are you staring at me?” Barbara shifted a little uncomfortable under Kate’s gaze. “I was just...how are you handling that?” She blurted out without thinking. “The wheelchair? That’s easy, you just-” “Idiot…” Batwoman frowned, she was glad that her friend was able to make jokes even after the incident with Joker but it was hard not to be angry, when she had no way of helping her. “Come on, Kate…” Oracle chuckled, “There is no point to dwell on past.” “Huh, I guess that’s true.”
“Of course it is, how would that help?” Both women were startled by Robin entering the room. “How long have you been listening?” Barbara asked and moved towards Tim. “Long enough to know that Kate actually has a heart.” His witty retort was accompanied by loud growl coming from the sofa, “Am I wrong? Did Diana steal it already?” “I...what?” The redhead jumped up and failed to hide the blush creeping up her face. “She’s going to deny it...watch.” Barb leaned back and let her boyfriend give her a soft kiss. “Well...aren’t you two the sweetest.” Kate mocked them and started pacing along the giant clock in the wall. “So?” Tim encouraged her to continue; He knew that Batman wasn’t coming back to Gotham anytime soon, so the city could use another hero around, especially if it would be Wonder Woman. “You can ask her…she should be here soon.” “What? She is coming here?” Barbara’s face lit up, it was obvious that she would jump with joy if she could. “She needed help with something. She asked for Bruce...but yeah, guess we’ll have to do.”   “You don’t sound really happy about it. Did you...tell her?” Robin asked, even though he knew the answer. Kate would never reveal your identity like this. “I don’t like being compared. Especially by someone who doesn’t know...anything.” Her voice sounded more angry than usual.
Everyone stayed quiet for a couple of minutes. They all knew how it felt like, being compared to Batman. Although it was one of the few things no one liked, they never doubted that Bruce could defeat them all; and that was a reason for all the comparisons.
“But...she is still coming right?” Oracle asked, barely hiding the excitement. “I guess…” “Kate...from what you said earlier...it looks like she enjoyed your company.” Tim tried to make her less worried, “I’m pretty sure that she’ll enjoy working with Batwoman too.” “I don’t really care.” Kate barked out. Diana managed to hit a sore spot, although it probably wasn’t on purpose, it didn’t really matter to the redhead right now.
Before Tim could continue, Wonder Woman landed in the middle of the room. A cloud of dust flew off the floor followed by a loud creak of wood. Barbara gulped audibly, staring at the heroine with her mouth open. Robin straightened up and smiled. The Amazon didn’t look a day older since he saw her the last time. Kate didn’t react, she continued looking out into the Gotham city with a small pout on her face.
“Is this a bad time?” Diana asked, her eyes glued to the Batwoman’s silhouette. “No, not for us. Just ignore her.” Barb didn’t hesitate to answer, smirking. “Your previous conversation just...wasn’t the best?” The redhead scoffed at his explanation. “Tim Drake.” The Amazon jumped next to Robin and gave him a brief hug. “Good to see you again, Diana.” The hug was interrupted by the noise of Barbara clearing her throat, “Right...this is my girlfriend, Barbara Gordon.” “The famous Oracle?” The hero offered her a hand and she gladly shook it, not saying a word. Clearly it was hard for her to believe that Wonder Woman knew who she was. Even though Bruce always appreciated the work that Barb did, she never thought that he would talk about her with other heroes. “So what do you need help with?” Tim was eager to hear the explanation of the unexpected visit. Diana looked back at Batwoman who was still successfully ignoring her. “Just give me a minute?” “Sure.” The couple nodded and moved over to the computers on the other side of the room.
She stood silently, watching the Gotham hero. Her mind wandered to the previous events of the day; her training with Kate Kane. She judged her way too early and then ended up speechless when the redhead revealed her skills. There was a strong possibility that she made the same mistake twice in one day, which was pretty unusual for her. Mankind couldn’t compare her to the rest of the Amazons, they never got a chance to see them. Compared to the other superheroes, Diana was still literally a goddess. Yet it wasn’t hard for her to empathize. Batwoman had to be compared to Batman every other day and the fact that she joked about it didn’t exactly start their friendship off in the best way. Now, she had to put Wonder Woman aside for couple of minutes and figure out the right approach to save the situation. It definitely wasn’t her intention to insult anyone from the bat family; especially not another female superhero. As an Amazon, she had enormous respect for any woman in this kind of work. After few long steps, Diana ended up standing right behind Batwoman. It was impossible to not notice the small shudder running down the redhead’s spine. This happened almost everytime, no matter if she was close to a man or woman. She could call it one of the biggest weaknesses for humans, not being able to control their body responses at all times.
“Planning on joining us?” Diana kept her voice down, hoping that they could solve this in private; sort of. “I can hear very well from here.” The Bat answered calmly, her heart rate spiking up. Kate was aware of the mess she was becoming in her presence. “About before…” “Don’t worry about it.” She turned around, facing the goddess, suddenly very thankful for the mask she was wearing. “I didn’t....but looks like you are more than I thought.” The Amazon was absolutely honest, as always. “It’s just-” “Annoying?” “I know that he is the best.” Kate exhaled, “But I’m really-” “You are really trying?” “Did you pick up habit of interrupting people?” The only answer she got for her question was a friendly smirk on Diana’s face, “Anyway yeah, not like you ever had to prove yourself, huh?” “Maybe we are not that different.” It was supposed to be a rhetorical question but apparently this time, it was Batwoman hitting on something from the past of the other woman, “Back at Themyscira, my mother never thought that I was good enough to be the emissary for the Amazons. Half of my life there was about proving that I am worthy of going to the outside world.” “Oh,” Kate’s gaze dropped to the floor when she realized how stupid it was to assume that she knows anything about their guest, “Sorry. I-I didn’t know.” “I’d be surprised if you would.” Diana waved her hand and chuckled, “Not a common knowledge.” “So are we sharing secrets now?” “Would you like to share one?” The goddess raised her eyebrows, one of her fingers copying the edge of Batwoman’s mask. “I-Uh-I-No.” The redhead’s eyes flew wide open at the implication. She was not ready to share her identity with Diana. She enjoyed her time with the Amazon as Kate that much that she was definitely not ready to risk it. Although it was obvious that Wonder Woman would not judge her for being a hero it could change the relationship that she currently had with Kate Kane forever. “Alright…” She removed her hand from the mask and took a step back. “So...uh...what made you jump on that museum roof?” “Klarion.” Diana walked back towards Barbara and Tim, saying only one word like it would explain everything. “The Witch Boy? In Gotham?” Fortunately, Oracle picked up on the hint right away. “I think he’s trying to get the artifacts to-” “Summon the demons…” Barb finished and turned back to the computer, immediately trying to locate Klarion. “Demons?” Robin smirked. “Demons Three…” Batwoman whispered, “Faust wanted to summon them into the world once but he didn’t have the magic items..” “Yes and the Green Bell of Uthool is in Gotham. Same as Felix Faust.” The Amazon smiled, impressed by the Bat’s knowledge, she already knew that they would work well together. “The other two items?” Barbara asked without moving her eyes away from the computer screens. “Still in their places. I checked.” Wonder Woman assured them, “And Faust is still in prison.” “Could Klarion be the mysterious criminal?” Robin turned around to face Kate. “Is it possible that he talked to Faust before you got to him?” The redhead ignored his question, clearly more worried about how powerful Klarion would become with the power of the demons three. “Yes.” Diana nodded, “Although I don’t think you’ll be able to trace him with your technology.” “If he is the new villain or has something to do with it...we could just follow the crime scenes?” Tim tried again, this time they acknowledged his theory. “I can keep an eye on all police calls, let you know when something will pop up?” Barbara offered. “That is a good idea...and we can go out tonight.” The goddess cautiously looked at Batwoman, still not sure if they cleared the air after the previous conversation. “O-out?” Kate stammered out a little confused. “To search the city.” “Right…” “What about me?” Robin jumped in, feeling left out from the plan. “You stay here and guard the lunch box.” Kate smirked. Diana’s energetic laugh echoed through the clock tower and the atmosphere in the room suddenly didn’t feel so heavy. “B-But...Robins are good luck?” “Then you better stay here and share the luck with me.” Barbara giggled and pulled him closer towards her.

Batwoman, Wonder Woman: Legacy
Chapter Two - Lesson One
Kate woke up at her apartment in the Kane tower. She looked drowsily at her phone to check the time. 11 am. Her shoulders were stiff but Kate didn’t pay attention to it, she crawled out of the bed and slowly moved to the shower. Stream of hot water was something she appreciated, especially after last night. Thankfully there was no need to go out as Batwoman during the night but the police gala did drain most of her strength. It took her more than twenty minutes to get out of the shower and fifteen more to pick an outfit for her training with Diana. Her final choice were dark brown cargo pants and a black tank top contrasting hard with her pale skin. She also grabbed a coffee and sunglasses on her way out. The elevator brought her down quickly. Kate almost jogged past the reception, nodding excitedly at the employee. She completely missed her father standing near the waiting area.
Tumblr media
“Kate!” Hearing his voice caused her to stop. “Dad, I’ll be late…” She started before turning around, “What do-” “Hello Kate.” Diana’s voice rang through the lobby and the redhead’s jaw hit the floor when she saw the woman stand next to her father. She almost tripped over the edge of blue rug on the floor as her eyes raked all over the goddess body. Diana was wearing a tight black jeans, loose white button up with brown leather jacket over it. “H-Hi...Sorry I...I didn’t see you here…” Kate spluttered. “Ouch.” The Amazon chuckled and picked up the small sport bag from the floor, “Your father said that we can use his private gym…” “His gym?” Kate raised her eyebrows and looked amused at her dad. “Well I paid for it.” Jacob laughed, obviously entertained by his daughter’s behavior, especially around his friend. “Yeah?” She scoffed, “When was the last time you used it?” “Maybe you could join us, Colonel?” Diana jumped into the conversation, smiling innocently at the redhead. Kate glared at her dad, trying to ignore the woman next to her. “I’d love to but I think my daughter would not enjoy it as much as we would.” He leaned a little towards Diana and squeezed her shoulder, “Maybe next time?” She nodded and her attention turned back to Kate as soon as the colonel walked away. “Shall we?” The Amazon asked. “Uh...yeah...let’s go.”
Kate was thankful that they didn’t have to wait long for the elevator. It was hard not to notice Diana, even though she was wearing casual clothes. People were staring at them and it wasn’t exactly comfortable for her. However the goddess didn’t mind the attention. After all these years on Earth she was more than used to it. To be fair, everyone knew who Wonder Woman was but not a lot of people knew Batwoman’s real identity. They entered the elevator with a couple of employees who were working in the offices upstairs. Kate gave them a small smile when they tried to cover their confused looks, eyes flicking between both women. The Amazon didn’t miss the looks that she was getting as she scooted over to Kate. The redhead gulped audibly when she felt Diana’s hand on her back. Loud exhale interrupted the silence in the elevator, Kate fought hard to keep it in but when the strong fingers pulled down her tank top a bit, revealing the nautical star tattoo between her shoulder blades, she lost the fight.
“That’s a nice tattoo, Kate.” The Amazon slowly ran her fingers over the exposed skin, copying the edges of the star. “Shit…” She muttered, clearing her throat few times before answering, “I...uh...thank you. Did you...uh did you consider having one?” “Not like I could.” “Right…” Kate shot a killing look towards the employees giggling in the corner of the elevator. “Was that supposed to be scary?” Diana whispered, serious look on her face. Kate turned her glare on the Amazon and pouted, making the employees laugh even harder. The goddess let her hand drop from Kate’s back and her gaze shifted to the rest of the occupants of the elevator. It wasn’t a surprise that her glare had a completely different effect than Kate’s. The elevator stopped and the employees rushed out, hoping to avoid her wrath. It was Kate’s turn to chuckle at their embarrassed faces. “You didn’t have to do that…” She blurted, trying to keep the chuckling under control. “Well...let’s call it lesson one.” Diana winked at her, leaning on the cold metal wall.
They reached the gym in few minutes, Kate was still trying to pull herself together after what happened in the elevator. She didn’t even mind that her father’s employees were laughing at her behavior, the thing she couldn’t get out of her mind was how Diana’s fingertips felt against her skin. The equipment in the room was one of the top brands, her father didn’t mind paying insane amount of money for things that could help Kate improve as Batwoman. She also had a feeling that he set her up for meeting Wonder Woman during the gala. Kate almost forgot the cup of coffee in her hand, it was stone cold now. She put the cup down on the closest bench and walked over to the closest punching bag, giving Diana some time to change. Her brain let go of all the thoughts as she started her usual sequence of punches but she could feel the Amazon’s eyes watching her, studying her every move. Kate was smart, she knew that showing off her skills wouldn’t be a great idea since Diana didn’t know about her secret identity. It was hard to force herself to do mistakes but she managed to keep her shoulders down and not use her whole body weight for the punches, which was something that the Amazon immediately picked up.
“You are standing all wrong…” “Am I?” Kate asked, fake surprise coloring her voice. She turned around to look at her new teacher, but she didn’t pick the best time. Diana just pulled down her jeans, revealing long, toned legs. “Yes, let me show you.” She started walking towards Kate, the muscles flexing with every step she took. Kate knew she was staring and with open mouth. She also knew that Diana was talking and she didn’t catch a single word. It wasn’t intentional but her brain just wasn’t capable of paying attention to anything else than the Amazon’s body; at least until fingers snapped in front of her eyes. “S-sorry…” Her face turned red in matter of seconds. “You didn’t hear anything that I just said right?” Diana tilted her head, waiting for Kate to look up at her. “I...Sorry.” The redhead choked out the same word again but when her eyes moved up to the Amazon’s face, she didn’t really see the expression she expected. Diana was amused. Again. “No need.” The goddess dismissed her apology, “You’re a human, whenever your kind see something you like, it ends like this. Natural reaction.” She shrugged, obvious very aware of how attractive she was for most of the Earth population. “Are you...saying that I like you?” Kate’s eyes were growing wider and wider with every other second that Diana spent in her proximity. “Don’t you?” It wasn’t really a necessary question, they both know the answer. Diana took a few steps back to her bag and put on the rest of her workout clothes. Kate was silent, she wasn’t used to being called out like this. The Amazon came back almost instantly, she took a place behind the redhead, “You don’t have to be embarrassed about that, Kate…” “Let’s just...focus on the training, huh?” Kate shut down the conversation, letting herself fall into the hero mode and dismissing all the inappropriate thoughts. “Sure…” Diana nodded and proceeded to show her how to move properly during fights to use the whole body weight. Even though Kate knew all this, she let the goddess lead, listening to the advices and repeating the motions that she showed her; all that with Diana’s body firmly pressed into her back, copying her every movement. When she was certain enough that Kate got it right, she stepped back and moved towards the other bag.
“How much do you have to control...yourself?” Kate asked after few minutes. “A lot…” Diana smirked, allowing a bit more strength into her hits. The bag was swinging heavily and it looked dangerously close to breaking apart from the chain that was holding it. “Isn’t that annoying?” “Why?” The Amazon seemed surprised by the question. “I mean...it’d be easier to just let go, no?” “Of course, Kate...but we wouldn’t want to destroy the building now, would we?” She deadpanned and glanced at the redhead briefly, only to see her entertained, somewhat cocky expression. “Show me.” “That is not the best idea.” “I want to see...I mean...don’t destroy the building but let go a bit?” Kate encouraged her.
Diana turned around, fully facing her companion now. Her face was unreadable and Kate prayed that she didn’t overstep. The Amazon bit her lower lip and without breaking the eye contact, she hit the bag. Loud creak accompanied the dull thud noise when the bag hit the ceiling but Diana wasn’t done. If Kate wanted to see, then who was she to say no. She turned around on one heel and her leg hit the target directly. The chain broke and the bag flew into the wall on the other side of the gym.
“Holy fuck…” Kate wasn’t that surprised, she knew very well the extend of Wonder Woman’s strength but seeing at least a part of it still had an effect on her, “Do you want to...uh do you want to spar?” She pointed towards the small ring not far away from the place where the bag landed. “Why not…” She just shrugged and walked over to the ring. “Just...you know...be gentle?” The redhead joked, her eyes glancing at the bag, then back at Diana. “I have no intentions to hurt you, Kate.” The Amazon gave her a small smile and waited for her to start the fight.
It didn’t take long and Kate was already lying down on her back. She didn’t even touch the goddess before her back hit the floor again. It was a little annoying and Diana for sure noticed the change in her body language; clenched jaw and tense muscles. Kate didn’t even bother with taking a proper stance, she faked punch left and instead did the same movement that the Amazon did with a bag before. Unfortunately for her, Diana was expecting it. She ducked down at the last moment and continued with a precise kick just under Kate’s knee, expecting that the redhead would end up down again. The moment when Kate felt her leg giving up on her, she didn’t think. It was a motion that she had to do several times as Batwoman, she turned her body, now falling face first into the ground but before her body could hit the floor, Kate braced herself against it with her hands and bounced back to her feet. For the first time since yesterday, Diana was the one who was speechless. Her mouth slightly open and her eyes looking cautiously at Kate, waiting for the explanation of how she just did that when couple minutes ago, she couldn’t even punch the bag properly. Instead of getting the answer for the unspoken question, Kate launched forward, dedicated to take the goddess down at least once. Her body crashed into the Amazon. Diana didn’t prevent the impact but she allowed herself to go with it; otherwise Kate’s attempt would have same effect as running into the wall. Since Diana really didn’t want to cause her any injuries, she fell down on the floor with her; looking up into the wide green eyes. Kate was obviously taken by surprise that the goddess fell down so easily; only until she noticed the smug grin on Diana’s face.
“You did that on purpose…” She shook her head with disbelief. “Didn’t want to hurt you.” The Amazon said, “Kate, where did you learn that…” “Military…” The redhead scoffed and tried to stand up. When she leaned on her arms to push herself up, Diana grabbed her wrists and rolled to the side. Kate had no time to react as the Amazon pulled both her arms to the side with her and chuckled when her opponent landed on the floor again. Kate growled in pain and rubbed her shoulder, looking up at Diana. “Never let your guard down.” She offered the redhead a hand and helped her up. “I thought you didn’t want to hurt me…” Kate pretended a whine, but she regretted it immediately when she noticed how the expression on Diana’s face changed from entertained to concerned in a blink of an eye, “I was...just joking.” “Oh…” Her face lit up again and a relieved sigh escaped from her mouth. “Maybe we could-” Whatever Kate was going to say, it got interrupted by Diana’s phone. She patiently waited for the Amazon to finish the call. “Did something happen?” The redhead asked, even though she gathered enough information to figure that Diana will have to leave. “I have to go, Kate…” Her face showed the signs of disappointment, “I apologize but apparently Wonder Woman is needed.” She still managed to flash a smile in Kate’s direction as she grabbed the bag and walked over towards the window. “Be careful...I mean…” Kate cursed herself for saying that, like something could hurt the goddess. “I will.” Diana chuckled before flying off to wherever she was needed.
Wonder Woman arrived at the Gotham museum of Antiquities, the place where the Green Bell of Uthool was placed. She was aware what would happen if someone would manage to steal it and use it with the two other magic items and since Diana wasn’t fond of demons running around, she didn’t waste any time with looking around. She heard the gunshots from inside and ran towards the main door. It was the classic Wonder Woman entrance, sliding in through the door; obviously the door was smashed in the process but people loved it. She stopped in the middle of enormous hall of the museum, quickly looking around to check the situation. Five heavily armed guys were standing on her right and three more in front of her. Civilians were on the ground behind them, happiness sneaking into their faces as they saw the arrival of the goddess. Diana smirked and casually blew away the pieces of wood from her shoulder.
One of the robbers aimed at the hero and pulled the trigger. Diana deflected the bullet with the bracelet and moved towards the man. The rest of the group waited, actually they were staring in horror as the hero reached their mate and threw him across the hall. Civilians cheered for the hero, one of the robbers turned around and aimed his gun on the small girl in the corner. Before anyone could do anything, he pulled the trigger and a loud scream filled the hall. Fortunately, Wonder Woman was paying attention to the rest of the criminals and reached the girl in time. She pulled her up into her arms and quickly moved her to the sobbing mother nearby. The woman couldn’t even say thank you, because Diana had to act fast. She was always a bit cocky when it came to fighting villains that could barely react to her movement but when they threatened civilians, that was something else. Wonder Woman moved around the hall precisely and disabled three more guys in a couple of seconds. She looked to her left, to make sure that no one else was in immediate danger. When she found the rest of the robbers on the other side of the hall, the smirk returned to her face as she walked towards them.
“You picked a worst moment to interrupt my day.” The sound of her mocking voice was accompanied by gulping of the men in front of her. “S-stay back.” One of the yelled and aimed the gun towards the hero. Diana only scoffed at his naivety and jumped towards him first. Her hand grabbed the gun and without any problems bent the cold metal upwards. Robbers eyes were wide and he started walking backwards. Unfortunately for him, Wonder Woman reached for her lasso and it locked around his ankles; pulling him down to the ground. She punched the other guy standing near her and he fell down unconscious. Dealing with the last two was easier than Diana expected. They practically dropped the guns to the floor, begging her to not hurt them. The fight was over before it could properly start and the hero was a little disappointed. Police rushed into the museum only to find a couple of criminals on the ground and Wonder Woman helping civilians out. “Great...we can’t even do our job now.” One of them groaned, loud enough for Diana to hear. She ruffled hair of the little girl she saved earlier and walked angrily towards the police officer. During her time in the human world, she learned that most of the people are ungrateful and rude but it didn’t make her less angry. The man saw her marching towards him and a sly smile lit up his face. “What can I do for you, darling?” He asked, probably not even realizing what Diana could do to him if she would want to. “Maybe you can get to your next job faster…” The hero answered, raising her eyebrows and waiting for his reaction. “Maybe you should not get involved next time…” The cop deadpanned, “We can a handle few guys.” “If I wouldn’t be here in time, that little girl would be dead.” Diana pointed outside towards the woman who was now leaving the building with her daughter in her arms, “And they would-” She didn’t finish, her eyes noticed the small figure up on the glass roof of the museum, “Klarion?” She whispered before leaving the confused officer and jumping up towards the roof.

Batwoman, Wonder Woman: Legacy
Chapter One - Scavenger Hunt
“Gross.” “What?” Beth smiled at her sister, who was now precisely faking her disgust. “Sometimes I could swear that you are not my twin.” Kate looked at her all serious. “You love it.” “I love a lot of things but your stories with Clayface are definitely not on the list.” She stretched her neck and groaned when the loud cracking followed after her movement. The last few days she always woke up sore. Obviously being Batwoman was exhausting, especially after all that happened in National City but Kate was happy for Maggie. She really was... Beth, was however, staring at her, not saying a word.
Tumblr media
“Talk.” Kate exhaled. “You look like shit.” Beth was never one to sugar-coat things. “Huh.” The redhead scoffed, “I also feel like shit.” “Take a break then.” “Not that easy…” She shook her head; sulking back into the sofa. “Bullshit sis, other people can handle Gotham for a while.” “Others?” Soft laugh escaped from Kate’s throat, “Like...Red Alice?” “Oh no…” Beth stopped her immediately, “Red Alice is...not a hero…” “Maybe if she would come along more often, she could be.” Kate wasn’t someone who would abandon family. She knew that Beth’s past was dark but she was just really happy that her sister was alive. There was a time in the past when she thought she lost her.. After she fell from that plane…
Kate closed her eyes for a moment, getting rid of the memories that found their way into her mind. The room was silent but she appreciated that her twin knew when to stay quiet. Unwillingly she reached out for Beth’s hand; It took only a second before an unearthly cold hand squeezed hers. Ever since Beth came back, the temperature of her body was low. At first, Kate was worried about it but now she was used to it. She felt the same about the pale skin, even though that could be a family trait. She let out content sigh, ready to go fulfill her duties as Batwoman.
“So you are not coming?” “No...I think that I’ll go have some fun tonight.” “Okay…” Kate looked a little confused, “What is more fun than beating up a few guys?” “Movies?” She shrugged and laughed at her sister’s horrified expression, “Kate...when was the last time you actually fought someone?” “Ouch.” The redhead sneered. “I’m serious, lately you just run around, looking for your mystery villain.” “Well, you don’t think it’s weird?” Kate threw her hands up in the air. “That you can’t remember the whole night?” “I didn’t drink…” She rolled her eyes after seeing Beth’s mocking grin. “Did it happen again?” “No...no I’m just tired…” “The headaches?” “Yeah...I could use some rest but first I have to figure this out and all the naps that I have to take during...work...are not making it easier.”
Beth stood up from the sofa and walked over to the window. It did seem weird but that was Gotham. And Beth liked Gotham.
“Are you even listening to me?” “Yes...yes, I’m here.” Kate groaned, leaning forward on the handlebars of her bike. “You have to focus.” “I know...it’s just…” She trailed off in her thoughts, completely ignoring her father. The pulsing pain in the back of her head was gaining intensity. “Is...is everything okay? Kate?” The tentative voice was coming from her phone, after a while of silence. “Dad, I-I don’t think that I’ll go out tonight…” She rubbed the back of her neck as her gaze settled on the mask in her hand. Gotham will have to survive without Batwoman for one night, “Just a headache...don’t worry.” “Kate, that is the third time this week...don’t you think that it’s about time to visit-” “Dad please…” The redhead whined as she slowly moved towards the small couch in the middle of her batcave, “I need to sleep.”
Kate ended the call and fell on the couch. Her eyes closed immediately afterwards, trying to fight the loud thudding in her head. The mask was hanging between her fingers.
Everything was quiet. She managed to take a few deep breaths, before she was unable to keep herself awake anymore.
"Gotham's newest criminal did strike again last night. This mysterious villain has been terrorizing the city for the last ten days following Batman's unexpected absence. His motives are still unknown but for now it appears that the person behind those attacks is more than content with the  destruction of public property and assaulting unsuspecting civilians but the incidents are gaining on intensity. Where is Batman or at least the rest of the Gotham's heroes? Stay with me and I promise to find out!"
Kate woke up on the floor; even though she was fairly certain that she fell asleep on the couch. The mask was carefully placed on the small table; she looked around, feeling more tired than when she decided to take a nap and on top of that she also felt densely confused. Her eyes settled on the small TV across the table; Kate didn't remember even considering watching TV but for some reason it was turned on and it was broadcasting news with Vicki Vale. She waited till the end of the 'mysterious villain' segment then rested her back against the couch. Her fingers absent-mindedly found her phone and she glanced briefly at the time. 9 am. A groan escaped from her throat, she slept through a whole night. Again.
"And don't forget the GCPD gala tonight, all our famous officers will be there and so will I! This is Vicki Va-"
She turned off the screen, Vicki's grin was forcing her stomach to flip upside down. Kate was dedicated to Gotham, especially now, when Batman had an urgent mission that required his presence really far away from the city. Although lately she was doing more sleeping than protecting. She jumped back to her feet and grudgingly walked over to the window, looking outside into the dirty streets.
"Huh...still standing." She smirked, part of her was feeling happy to be in Gotham and the other part was just happy to be. Seeing the city still standing after another night without Batwoman was comforting. A small smile settled on her lips as she proceeded to find some coffee.
It took her a while before she realized that she was still in her black hero suit. When she began removing her favorite outfit for nights, Kate noticed the small drops of blood all over her. An untrained eye would’ve probably missed it but that was not Kate's case. Cleaning the suit was a first thing she did whenever she returned; there was no reason for the blood to be there. She wasn't outside. She didn't fight anyone.
The gala was in the middle of the city. Kate passed several heavily armed cops before she reached the entrance. Getting into those events was harder as Kate than if she would appear as a Batwoman but frankly this fact was quite welcomed. She was always up for the challenge but this wasn't one of those times.
"Name?" The guy waiting in front of the door asked, while his eyes moved up and down her body. "Kate Kane." She answered, disgusted by his cocky smile. "Hmm..." He stared into the paper in his hand for a moment, "Oh, here you are, your father is already inside." He crossed out the name and gave her one last smile before stepping aside, allowing Kate to walk in.
The room was enormous. She stood on the stairs trying to find her dad but she wasn't successful. Instead she continued towards the few already drunk police officers right under the stairs, hoping that they might tell her some information about the villain. That was her only reason to visit an event like this; to get information. Occasionally it was to bring home a new woman to fuck but after her visit in National city, Kate wasn't really in the mood for a one night stand.
When she was about to join the group of drunk men, her eyes landed on the woman in the back of the room. She was tall, her dark hair tangled into a simple braid. The blue dress was complimenting her body at all the right places. Kate took a deep breath, hoping to ground herself when the woman look in her direction. She knew exactly who this woman was; the whole planet knew that but the whole planet was not lucky enough to get to talk with her. Kate slowly made her way through the crowd, keeping her eyes on the goddess who was now sipping wine like it was a completely normal thing for her to do. The redhead couldn't stop the growing smile on her face; even though she managed to keep it at least a little under control.
"You were there when Faust was caught, right?" Kate asked, not sure if it was the best start for the conversation. "I did help..." a soft chuckle escaped the other woman's lips as she curiously watched Kate. "I...uh...I am Kate..." She cleared her throat and mentally kicked herself. "Diana." "Wonder Woman." Kate breathed out, surprised and amused by the fact that she got to meet the hero so easily. "Or that, yes." Diana nodded and tilted her head little to the side, clearly enjoying the attention. It didn't take long before both women were surrounded by a bunch of admirers. Kate couldn't even get to the small talk, not to mention asking how Diana defeated Felix Faust. She stood aside, waiting patiently for a moment when Wonder Woman will be left alone again. Unfortunately, the line of people who wanted to talk with the goddess and were attending this gala was endless. Kate scoffed, making sure that it was heard by most people in her reach but before she could walk away, police commissioner Gordon appeared on the stage. She took a few steps forward to get a better view.
The commissioner talked a lot, Kate actually stopped listening somewhere in the middle of his speech. He talked about Faust's arrest then he went on thanking everyone who was involved and that's where Kate lost the interest. The thudding in her head returned and she rubbed the back of her neck. Someone was standing way too close behind her, she shifted uncomfortably but the strong hand on her waist stopped her from turning around.
"Headache?" The gentle, calm voice filled her head. Kate wasn't sure if she could trust her mouth to talk, instead she gave the woman behind her a small nod, "You don't look like you are having fun..." "This was more like a scavenger hunt." "What were you hunting?" Diana moved closer, her voice was merely above whisper; trying to avoid interrupting the commissioner's speech. "Information..." The redhead answered vaguely. Loud gasp instantly flew out of her when Diana's body suddenly pressed firmly into her back. "I am sorry..." The Amazon smiled nonchalantly, her hand still on Kate's waist. Gordon stopped talking for a couple of seconds, waiting for people to walk to the other side of the room; several officers took the chance to 'unintentionally' touch the goddess as they passed them proceeding to the dance floor. For Diana it was a friendly gesture, but Kate's brain short-circuited, "Are you blushing?" She asked point blank, not even trying to make this more comfortable for the redhead. "Well, you don't get to have a goddess this close every day, huh?" Kate managed to save her reputation; well at least a little bit. "True." Diana let the last person walk by and took a step backwards, giving the other woman room to breathe. "So, Kate, what kind of information?" "About the new Gotham villain..." She didn't have to try hard to cover her identity as Batwoman but she always felt that it was harder with other heroes. Who was she kidding, Alex Danvers figured it out in no time. "Want to join the crime fighting party?" Diana's laughter was energetic, her eyes roamed Kate's body as if she was deciding if the smaller woman could even fulfill the role of the hero. “Maybe if you could teach me few moves.” The redhead joked back, watching Diana in awe when she threw her head back and laughed; not caring that people were staring at them. “Well, when are you free?” The Amazon kept the wide grin on her face. “Tomorrow?” “Alright.” Wonder Woman had to fight really hard to not give into another wave of laughter as the face of the woman in front of her covered a huge spectrum of emotions in a few seconds., “The Kane building? Around noon?” “Did...did you just agree?” She choked out. “You thought I wouldn’t?” Diana put her hand back around Kate’s waist; walking towards a group of men, taking her companion with her, “Why would you ask if yo-” “I thought we were just joking around.” The redhead scolded herself immediately after the words left her mouth, thudding in her head returning with a bigger intensity. “Relax.” One of the waiters stopped and took the empty glass from Diana’s hand, “I won’t force you to go.”
Kate didn’t say anything after that, clearly caught up in her thoughts. How dangerous would it be to play this game? She already tried the double life once and it didn’t work out great. Unfortunately, she didn’t have any super powers at her disposal; she couldn’t just go around and reveal her identity as Batwoman.
“Diana!” A familiar voice pulled her back to reality. “Colonel Kane! It’s nice to see you again.” Diana was dragged into a quick hug. “Dad?” Kate was looking at them, puzzled and maybe a little outraged that her dad never mentioned the fact that he knew Wonder Woman; or that they are at this level of friendly. “You already met my daughter? I hope she wasn’t bugging you too much.” He practically snorted when Kate started pouting. “Nonsense.” Diana’s hand drifted from Kate’s waist up to her arm where she gently squeezed the bare skin before adding, “She’s wonder-ful.” “Oh god…” The redhead rolled her eyes at Diana’s bad joke but she couldn’t stop the giggle fighting it’s way out.   “Well then...I’ll see you tomorrow?” The Amazon tilted her head and patiently waited for the answer; sparkling brown eyes looking directly at Kate. “O-of course.” She nodded, feeling her whole body melting under Diana’s hopeful gaze. “Great.” She took a step forward and leaned in; making sure that no one else could hear her, “You can stop blushing now, Kate, I wasn’t that close this time.”
Without further delay, Wonder Woman said goodbye to the colonel and left to talk with other guests. Kate was staring after her, unintentionally ignoring her dad for a couple of seconds. Her breathing was ragged, she gulped several times but it didn’t help with the dry throat. A strong arm locked around her shoulders and she finally turned to pay attention to the man standing next to her.
“What was that about?” He failed to hide the smug expression on his face, “Did my daughter just score a date with Wonder Woman?” “Dad, please…” Kate groaned, walking towards the changing room to pick up her jacket.

Supergirl: Legacy
Chapter Twenty Two - Promises
Maggie didn’t feel like going out after the Thanksgiving dinner, more so she didn’t really enjoy being surrounded by hundreds of people ready to start a crazy shopping spree. However her fianceé insisted on taking Lucy Lane out before she had to leave National City again; and to be honest, Maggie was never able to say ‘no’ to Alex.
Tumblr media
“You should smile a little more, detective.” Lucy nudged the woman walking next to her and giggled. “She just doesn’t like mornings and people…” Alex explained to her friend. Even though they weren’t able to hang out often, the agent wouldn't give up on the opportunity to do that. A few months back, Lucy Lane became the co-director of DEO but she left J’onn in charge to look after the secret military projects. Her father, general Lane had an issue with leaving aliens unattended but his daughter was different; both of his daughters were different. “I didn’t even have my coffee.” Maggie frowned and leaned into Alex’s arms. “Mhmm, is that why you're so grumpy?” The agent sneaked her hand into the back pocket of the detective’s tight black jeans and gently kissed her forehead, “We better get you some coffee then.” “I could use one too actually.” Lucy nodded and proceeded to walk towards the shops, a smile settling on her face. It was a long time since she saw Alex Danvers this happy and she certainly never saw her in love.
They stood patiently in the queue, Maggie was completely hidden in the crook of the agent’s neck; yawning and half asleep. She didn’t pay any attention to the surroundings as long as she could feel the familiar warmth pressing back into her. Alex was in the middle of some very intriguing conversation with Lucy about the wedding when it all started. The roof suddenly split apart and massive pieces of concrete began falling down into the middle of the mall. The cop immediately leaped away from her fianceé and ran to the nearest civilians, starting to direct them to the nearest emergency exit. The panic was tangible in the air, Lucy and Alex noticed a young guy trapped under one of the fallen pieces. They quickly started removing the concrete from his legs, the agent never stopped checking to see if Maggie was safe. If the situation wouldn’t be so hectic, Lane would stop to tell her how adorable that was. Every couple of minutes, Danvers looked up, her eyes instantly finding the cop; and detective Sawyer did exactly the same. But even their constant check ups couldn’t prevent what was about to happen in the next couple of minutes. The ground started to shake, accompanied by loud sounds of metal bending and something heavy hitting the ground. Fortunately, it was outside the mall, unfortunately it caused more destruction of the roof. One of the alloy beams loosened up and fell to the ground. There was no sound of the impact, only loud and somewhat painful scream.
“Fuck!” “Damn it, Alex, don’t move.” Lucy jumped next to her friend, carefully observing her injured leg. The sharp part of the beam pierced her thigh right through. “Babe, what-” Maggie ran towards them, her gaze moving along Alex’s body, “We have to get her to the hospital.” “What about the others?” Lane looked around the devastated mall, noting most of the people were already running outside through the exit just like the cop ordered them. “I already called the precinct, they should be here soon.” Sawyer answered, lifting her fianceé up in her arms, “You good, Danvers?” “Yeah. Not a hospital.” Alex growled, her breathing was ragged and it didn’t take much to guess that she won’t be able to help with whatever was going outside. “DEO? I have a car in the car park.” Lucy offered. “Lead the way.” The cop was right behind her.
Maggie’s arms were locked tight around the agent. She wasn’t losing a lot of blood but her leg would definitely need some time to heal. It wasn’t that long since Alex was hurt and they both knew that this wasn’t a last time for sure. Lucy opened the car door and helped the detective. It wasn’t as easy as they thought since they didn’t want to cause any more pain to the agent who was now on the verge of passing out. They managed to get her inside and before the blackness took over, Maggie leaned in, giving her a gentle kisses; aware of the fact that Alex probably didn’t perceive any of it.
“Are you coming?” Lane started the car, waiting for Maggie to get in. “No.” The cop shook her head, “Get her to safety, I need to…I need to help them.” “She’ll be alright.” The director assured her with a small smile, “Don’t do anything stupid, Sawyer. She really loves you.” “Go.” Her eyes were flooded with tears. She hated to leave Alex’s side but there were others who needed her help now; going to the DEO would be pointless.
She watched the car leave the park before running back in. There was no one else inside and Maggie knew what was the next step of the plan. She needed to find her colleagues and start evacuating the buildings around. She rushed through the emergency door and stopped in her tracks. Half of the skyscrapers around had a huge holes in their sides and most of the streets were covered with wreckage. Screaming and crying could be heard from all sides. A few of the National City cops were just arriving and Sawyer proceeded to meet with them. However, she didn’t make it there as the Martian landed in front of her with the Daxamite right next to him.
“What is going on?” The detective asked, watching J’onn grab one of the passing civilians, presumably reading his mind. “Supergirl is dying…” “That’s bullshit.” Maggie deadpanned, not being able to imagine anything that could hurt Kara. “It is highly un-”
The alien was interrupted by a building behind them falling apart. They all turn around in shock. The almighty Supergirl flew through a building like a ragdoll, crashing into the ground. Above the crater that was created around the Kryptonian body during the impact was flying another silhouette. A man in black armor with a gold lightning on the chestplate, black cape fluttering in the wind. The blonde didn’t even get up properly and the mysterious villain was already landing another punch into her stomach, sending her back to the ground.
“Who the fuck is that…” The cop exhaled in disbelief. You don’t see Supergirl being helpless every day. “Black Adam.” J’onn said, clenching his jaw and his whole body tense as he stared at the intruder. “We...we have to do something.” Mon-El didn’t bother with waiting for a plan, he jumped towards the fight and the Martian had no other option than to follow him into the battle.
Maggie was cluelessly standing around, watching Kara being thrown into another building. This didn’t look like something that would be easily won. For a second she wondered if Alex is seeing this in the DEO but her fianceé was probably surrounded by doctors trying to fix her leg. The detective swiftly ran towards the rest of the police forces and joined the attempts to evacuate everyone into safety. Her mind partially staying with Alex and her eyes searching for Supergirl whenever she got a little room to breathe.
Kara scrambled up from the hole that her body left in the ground, intentionally destroying small pieces of metal between her fingers on the way out. She had no idea who this guy was and why was he in the National City but it didn’t matter at that moment. A big part of the city was already destroyed because she wasn’t strong enough to take the fight anywhere else. It felt weird, he didn’t have any kryptonite, yet he was able to emerge victorious from everything that she had tried. To be honest, he didn’t give her a lot of space to come up with a proper plan but that was not an excuse that Kara was willing to accept.
“Supergirl.” His voice was deep and mocking. The Kryptonian stood up and faced her opponent once again. “The longer we draw this out, the more pain your city will endure.” He scowled when Kara barely dodged the lightning bolt, “Just stay down and die. Make it easier for everyone.” “I’d never-” She got interrupted. The guy in black suit disappeared into the wreckage few metres behind him and Mon-El was now standing in his previous place. J’onn landed next to her, his face twisted with worry. “All those who impose upon my will shall meet the same fate, leave now while you still can.” The warning came from somewhere above them. Kara was hoping to recover at least some of her strength but the guy was already preparing the next attack. “Adam!” J’onn yelled at the uninvited guest. “Martian…” “Why have you brought destruction to these innocents?!” “A debt is owed.” Black Adam scowled and his eyes sparkled when J’onn flew up towards him. It wasn’t hard to dodge his attack thanks to his reflexes. However he didn’t expect the Daxamite from behind, knocking him down from the air. The god touched base on his cheek, barely registering the pain that Mon-El had inflicted. “The girl even hits harder than you... You've made a grave mistake by joining us here today.”
Adam turned on his heel, kicking off the ground with a stupendous amount of force that startled even Supergirl and Martian Manhunter. Before Mon-El could react he found himself soaring from this building clear into the next.
“Who's next?!” Adam barked at the two remaining, waiting for one to put up any semblance of a challenge to the God.
Martian observed the condition that Kara was currently in and took it upon himself to take the lead, soaring toward Adam with great speed and precision. The alien took hold of the self proclaimed god, taking both through the glass and over the metropolitan area. Adam struggled to break free of his inhuman hold, striking his stretched forearms several times before ultimately crashing into the street below. Martian relinquished his hold, striking Adam with a powerful jab that left him reeling for a moment; Adam snapped back to however, his demeanor more menacing than ever. The two exchanged blows and J’onn quickly came to the conclusion that he would not be able to overpower his opponent, at least not by way of physical strength. J’onn beelined toward the foe, dodging bolts of lightning in the process; once upon him he grappled his temples, framing his head before dwelling deeper into the recess of the twisted mind. J’onn was unsure what he was looking for or even what he had planned to show Teth-Adam but he knew once upon a time he had honor and he could remind him of that; at the very least he hoped this surge of memories would disorient him long enough to gain the upper hand. At the bottom of the tyrant’s mind sat Isis, a woman loved by Adam and Kahndaq, a country who he was devoted to in ruling; By pulling both to the surface Martian hoped to remind Adam the gravity of his actions. It seemingly worked, as the man fell to his knees and hands, his breathing sporadic. Just as Martian’s hands left his head Adam took a furious hold of his wrist, slowly ascending above him with rage smeared across his face.
“Wait-What are yo-” Before J’onn could finish uttering his question he was slammed against the pavement with all force possible, creating something of a crater. As he recovered Adam returned, both hands above his head as he held what appeared to be an eighteen wheeler truck. J’onn knew it would be painful but it wasn't until he spotted the fire warning on the truck’s cargo did fear truly set in. He screamed as the God dove down, driving the flammable vehicle directly into the cavity with him. Martian Manhunter was engulfed in flames, his worst fear covering every inch of him in an enclosed space.
Kara dusted off Mon-El, helping him back to his feet as J’onn fought below. Once they heard the screams however they realized the tide of battle had changed and in not in favor their ally. Kara turned to Mon-El, her hand still nursing her wounded abdomen.
“We have to go help him.. Are you sure you're up for this..?” She looked into Mon-El’s eyes asking him of his certainty despite her own being in question. “I've got your back if you've got mine.”
Kara feigned a smile before taking hold of Mon-El’s wrist and diving down toward the raging fire in the street. As Supergirl flew by overhead she released Mon-El, who rolled straight into a fist fight with Adam. Kara however focused on extinguishing the flame to prevent further harm to the now unconscious Manhunter. Despite his best efforts Mon-El was no match for Black Adam and at every turn he found himself taking painful blows and missing what few punches he could actually manage to get out. With J’onn now to safety Supergirl rejoined the battle, attempting to work with the Daxamite. However the moment she got close she was struck was a bolt of lightning, magical in origin. Her vulnerability was shown again as Kara was flung clean across the street into a bank nearby.
“When I struck you the first time it was to teach you a lesson, boy. Don't meddle in the affairs of Gods.” With no one to interfere Adam set his sights on Mon-El, walking toward him with menace as he now struggled to find his footing. With one hand he lifted him by his throat, imbuing the other with an aura of electricity moments before he plunged his hand clean through his chest.
Kara watched in utter horror, unable to find her voice in order to let out the scream building inside her. Instead her eyes began to water, building up before bursting into a sudden smoke as the sadness turned to fury. The heat emitted from her head and soon the windows of the bank she was in burst outward. Supergirl took flight, delivering a powerful uppercut to Black Adam that sent him scaling up toward the top of a skyscraper. The kryptonian pursued after, her body gliding over the windows of the building as she encroached upon him. Adam quickly regained, watching her soar toward him before diving downward to clash with the oncoming attack. As their hands met, a blast of force was released, decimating part of the building they had met on. The civilians inside took shelter, falling over themselves as they scrambled to find safety under their office desks. The building began to give way, dooming all those inside to a deadly fate. Supergirl could hear everyone inside cry out for help, her body yearned to move toward them but the magic of her enemy had taken its toll and she found herself plummeting back toward the ground. The kryptonian managed to pry herself off of the floor, all her senses pulsating as she took in the ruins surrounding her. Adam lorded over her, touching base into a swaggering strut before he stopped at her feet. His mere aura seemed to bring out a weakness in her she had never truly felt before. There was some quality to the God that was reminiscent of Kryptonite and it gave him the upper hand all throughout their battle.
“Had we met under different circumstances I would have valued your strength, perhaps even taught you to hone it but.. you have no such luck. I will take what I am owed, by any means necessary. This city will fall and you will follow unless you do the noble thing: lay down your life to spare your people the same fate. One life in exchange for millions.. think of all those you love before you stand again, Supergirl.”
“Kara…” The CEO was standing in front of her, green eyes barely able to keep eye contact, “I messed up.” “What are you talking about, Lena?” The Kryptonian raised an eyebrow and waited for explanation; She was genuinely lost. One day she rejects her and the other she can barely keep her hands off of her. “Do you want the long story?” Luthor scoffed, her tears making an appearance again. “Just...you know you can tell me anything…” Kara took a step closer, her thumb gently wiping the drops away from Lena’s cheeks. “I never meant to hurt you…” She started, leaning into the touch, “I never doubted that you wanted to be with me…I just…” Her gaze dropped to the floor, “Do you know that feeling when you want something for so long and when it finally happens you realize all the things that could go wrong and you-” “And you run…” The reporter finished, slightly tilting her head to the side, “What could go wrong, Lena?” “I am a Luthor.” “I am well aware of that.” Kara deadpanned, not fazed by this fact. “My mother is already trying to get rid of you...if she finds out...and everyone else...Luthor and a Super, that’s not a good combination. You’d see that in time and then…” “Then?” “Then you’d leave. Just like everyone else did.” Lena broke into tears, she fought them for so long but saying those words out loud was harder than she thought. “Luthor and a Super…” Kara chuckled, “We’ve done this a few times already and it has always worked out, don’t you think?” She wrapped her strong arms around the human and brought her as close as possible, “I won’t let anyone hurt you again, I promise.” “I d-don’t deserve y-you…” The CEO sobbed, snuggling closer into the familiar warmth.
Supergirl snapped out of the memory of her previous conversation with young Lena Luthor, only to jump into another one.
“Alex! Open the door.” She was standing in front of her sister’s apartment. “Go away, Kara…” The agent’s voice was weak, it wasn’t hard to notice that she was crying. The Kryptonian didn’t need to hear anything else. She quickly climbed out of the hallway window and flew into the apartment through the balcony door. Alex was sitting on the floor, a bottle of whiskey next to her. Kara rushed towards her, pulling her close into a hug and not moving until she felt the whimpers stop. “Alex Danvers…” The blonde whispered softly. “Y-yeah?” “I will destroy everyone who will try to hurt you again, even if it would be the last thing in my life. That’s a promise.”
She looked up at Adam who was more than patiently waiting for her decision.
“Mon-El I told you several times that I don’t need a white knight!” “I was just trying to help, you can’t do everything alone…” The Daxamite looked at her confused. She knew he was trying to do a good thing, to be a hero even though she told him not to. “Maybe you just don’t understand-” Supergirl started. “No, Kara, I do understand, you don’t want me to save your life. You’d rather die than sacrifice-” “Don’t you dare to finish that sentence.” She warned him, “I would die for people in this city. This is my home, Mon-El. My family is here, my friends are here. I would not hesitate for a second and you sabotaging the DEO mission just because you thought that I was in danger is something that will not happen again, because if it will, I will kick you back to Daxam myself.”
Her eyes found his lifeless body in the middle of the street. She failed him. Half of the city was destroyed, she didn’t even want to imagine how many people died during the fight. People that she swore to protect. She failed them all. However, she could still keep some of her promises, to Lena, to Alex. Kara could still save them. All she had to do was kneel down and die. Die for something that happened in past, something she wasn’t involved in. If Adam would get to her sister or the CEO, she would never forgive herself, an excruciating pain clenched her chest at the mere thought of that image. The reporter looked around once more. She gathered every detail she could, tears rolling down her cheeks as she began to notice the dead bodies in the wreckage around. It was enough for her to make a decision. She knelt down, her gaze glued to the concrete under her hands. This was the end, end of Supergirl.
The clouds cultivated in the sky above the fallen city, a sudden rush of dark tapered overhead until all semblance of light was now absent. The hairs on the forearms of the Kryptonian began to rise, foreshadowing the danger that was soon to come. As Kara looked to the skies above she bared witness to a massive bolt of lightning diving down toward her. Her eyes closed, her arms opening to embrace the fate she was doomed to. In her head rang one word, a shout from the tyrannical God that commanded the storm.
“SHAZAM!”

Supergirl: Legacy
Chapter Twenty One - After Dinner
Alex opened the door to her apartment and smirked when she saw Lena Luthor standing there two hours before they agreed upon. She wasn’t really surprised to see her this early but she spent enough time with Maggie to not make a joke.
Tumblr media
“Hope you’re not going to come early all the time.” “I...thought you might need some help?” Lena smiled and cautiously walked inside. She never got to do this before; a Thanksgiving with family yet it didn’t take her long to decide to offer some help with preparations. “The only thing you can help her with...is drinking.” Maggie chuckled as both women appeared in her sight. “Not a great cook then?” “My apartment didn’t burn down.” Alex shook her head, “Not even once.” “Babe, you are capable of burning pizza.” The cop teased her as she passed a glass of wine to Lena. “But…” The agent narrowed her eyes, “We always order pizza?” “I know.” Her fianceé nodded and amusedly watched Alex, a little too drunk already, trying to figure out what just happened. “You two are adorable.” Lena felt her nerves calming down, she was feeling more and more relaxed even without Kara around. “You’d be adorable too, with my sister I mean.” Alex blurted that out causing Luthor to spit her out wine; Maggie took away the glass of whiskey in her hand shortly thereafter. “Alex, babe, go and watch some TV.” She replaced the whiskey with water and send the agent toward the sofa, “For what it’s worth, I think she’s right.” “It’s not that easy.” The CEO scoffed, finishing the wine. “Not saying that it is. Want to help with cooking or are you joining Alex on the alcohol mission?” The detective tilted her head, giving young Luthor the famous dimpled smile. “Cooking.” Lena rolled up her sleeves and walked to the nearest cutting board, “So, did they solve the issue with my mother and the Kryptonian DNA?” “I…” Maggie was taken back by the question, it took her a minute to realize that Luthor knows about a lot of things now, “No, I don’t think they found her. Honestly, after all that happened, they could use some time off.” “Couldn’t agree more.” She smiled and started following detective’s lead in the kitchen.
“Just...be nice to Alex. She has a lot to tell you.” Kara stood in front of door to her sister’s apartment, trying to prepare their mother for what will happen. “I was always nice to her, Kara.” Eliza shook her head before she would continue, the door opened but instead of Alex there was a young, tall and black haired woman.
“Lena!” Supergirl squealed, “You came!” “Of course I did.” Luthor grinned and let them both in. “Mom...this is Lena Luthor. She’s...my guest for tonight?” The blonde introduced her friend, not even trying to hide the smile growing on her face. “Hey, Little Danvers. It’s about time.” Maggie jumped in, hugging Kara right away. “And this is another one of your guests?” “Mother…” Alex joined the conversation, softly squeezing Maggie’s hand. She planned on doing this after the dinner but she could feel the courage was already leaving her, “This is…” The panic started settling in her stomach until she felt her fianceé tightening the grip on her hand, “This is Maggie. Maggie Sawyer, she is my…” One last deep breath, “We are engaged.”
There was a long silence after what Alex said. The detective could feel the woman next to her shaking but she didn’t dare to move. Kara was standing right next Eliza, waiting for her reaction. She caught an eye contact with her sister, the fear in Alex’s eyes was absolutely devastating and the Kryptonian wasn’t sure how long she could handle this situation. Thankfully, their mother decided to react in the next few seconds.
“I am disappointed, Alexandra.” She said, walking closer to her daughter. “Mom…” Alex whispered in disbelief. “She seems like a lovely woman and yet you waited for so long to introduce us?” Eliza chuckled and her arms wrapped around the cop who was standing completely stiff, “Pleasure to meet you, Maggie.” “Y-you too...uh…” “Just call me Eliza.” “Anyone else need a drink?” Alex asked, holding the bottle of whiskey in her hand, “Mags?” “I think we can all use one, hm?” Both Danvers sisters watched their mother taking the bottle and going for more glasses. “That went well.” Kara hugged her sister, both of them relaxing for a while before they got interrupted by a doorbell.
Eliza, Maggie and Lena continued preparing the food, while Kara and Alex proceeded to open the door for new guests.
The apartment was full of people. James and Winn came in with more wine. J’onn was accompanied by Mon-El and not too long after them, Clark and Lois showed up with Lucy Lane. Alex was still a little tense, not so much from the conversation but from the fact that Kara managed to forget to uninvite the Daxamite which could cause some trouble.
“I am really happy for you, Alex.” Her mother’s voice pulled her out of her thoughts. Everyone else was sitting around the table; Clark was enjoying sharing his newest adventures, Lucy and James were reconnecting as friends, it was a long time since they last saw one another. All the while Winn was barely hiding his man crush on Superman. “Are you?” The agent asked, watching her sister in what looked like a really awkward conversation with Lena and Maggie. “Of course I am. Why would you think something else? Your fianceé is really sweet.” “She is…” Alex giggled and looked at surprised Eliza, “What?” “Oh dear, I was hoping to see you like this one day.” “Like this?” She looked genuinely confused. “In love. Happy.” Eliza simply explained and walked back to the table.
“Kara?” Mon-El improperly jumped into her conversation with Lena. “What do you want?” Supergirl growled in response, trying hard to be nice. “I just wanted to say that...I’m sorry about the other night and.. I’ll be here. Always. If it doesn’t work out between you two, I mean.” It was obvious that he really meant it and the reporter would probably would've appreciated such a gesture before but now, now she didn’t want him around; at least not around Lena. She had no problem to remaining his friend if he could continue acting like an adult. “Well...thank you.” She simply said and turned her attention back to the CEO.
Usually there would be a small hint of doubt on her face, however this time it was obvious that she didn’t want to continue the conversation with him. Even Lena apparently noticed the change and she started to feel bad, not because of the Daxamite but because the blonde seemed really dead set on doing everything she could to win her over. The only thing that Kara didn’t know, was that she won Lena the first time she stepped into her office and it hasn't changed since then.
“Excuse me for a minute…” Luthor stood up but before she could leave, a strong grip on her arm stopped her. “Everything okay?” Kara asked, her puppy eyes staring right at her frightened the CEO. “I...I just need to make a phone call.” “Alright.” The smile on the Kryptonian’s face was contagious and Lena left the room with a huge grin on her face, up until she dialed a number.
“Miss Luthor, always picking the best time to call.” The friendly voice answered after few seconds. “Just wanted to say...happy Thanksgiving.” “Is it really Thanksgiving already? God, I am drowning in work.” “Vicki…” “Yes? Keep it quick, babe.” “When will you come for a visit?” Lena still asked. She knew the answer, she always knew. “I’d be stupid to leave before Batman returns, there is so much going on.” “Not even for me?” She tried to flirt but her voice was giving up on her. She didn’t love Vicki but there was something else that scared her. “I thought this was just casual, Lena...look I really have to go, we can talk later, okay?.” Vicki ended the call, not even giving her a chance to respond.
Lena stood in the hallway, thinking that she was alone; just her and her thoughts. The door opened quietly and J’onn slipped outside next to her. Even though it was obvious that Luthor was fighting back tears, he waited, giving her chance to return. When the woman didn’t move, he started talking.
“Excuse me for saying but you don’t really seem like the casual type, Miss Luthor.” “I...what? How did you?” The CEO took a step back, for a moment wondering if everyone could hear her call. “I can read minds.” He explained, “I didn’t mean to do it. Sometimes however I pick up things and to be honest, your thoughts were very loud.” “I see.” Lena nodded, “Will you...will you tell her about this?” “No. It’s not my place to tell Kara. Although, there is something that I’ll feel I should tell you.” “What is it?” Her eyes were completely flooded now. “Miss Luthor…” “Uh...just Lena is fine.” “Lena…” The Martian started again, “I work with Kara everyday and I can safely say that she would destroy the planet for you.” The CEO chuckled but the tears were already rolling down her cheeks, “Not literally....we learned that in the DEO the hard way. She trusted you when we didn’t. She defended you at every chance she got. Kara is not scared of being alone, she is scared of being without you.” “How-how do you know those things?...” “I can read minds…” He said again, “And I’m not done yet. Supergirl is like my daughter. I can see the pain that the Gotham reporter is causing her...and I can see how much pain it’s causing you. You didn’t give Kara time to deal with her issues, you gave time to yourself. You can’t trick your heart with substitutions, Lena. You wanted to be with her for so long, now she wants to be with you. What are you afraid of?” “I…” Luthor just broke down in tears, J’onn pulled her closer to him. She didn’t have to talk, he can read the answer in her mind. “I can assure you, that she is scared of the same thing but she is willing to fight for your relationship and hopefully avoid that. Are you?” He felt the slight nod of the CEO’s head, her thoughts were practically screaming yes back at him, “I want you to know Lena, that we all know about your relationship with Luthors...and if you’ll let us, we’ll gladly be your new family, we’ll take you in, just like we took in detective Sawyer.” “What-what if Kara...what if she…” Lena tried talking through the sobs. “She will understand. It’s not like you intended to hurt her. You know...Alex was in same position, the first time she showed her feelings to her fianceé,” He put a lot of emphasis on the word, “Maggie ran. There was a little more to it but...look at them now. You just need to talk with Kara.” “T-thank you…” The crying was hardly at the end, even though she was feeling better.
They stood there for a long time before Lena managed to calm down completely. When J’onn turned around to open the door again, someone else did it for him. The Kryptonian was standing in front of them, staring at the CEO. Even though Kara didn’t say anything, it was obvious that she didn’t miss Lena’s red eyes and the Martian’s arm around her shoulders. He went inside, leaving the women in the hallway.
“Lena...what happen-” Before she could finish her sentence, Luthor’s soft lips were pressed against hers. Kara needed a moment until her brain could fully comprehend what was happening. Once she did, she pushed Lena back, forcing her to lean on the railing near the staircase. Her hand rested on the cold metal in an attempt to ground herself. The CEO relaxed as soon as the reporter’s body was completely pressed against hers. She could feel Supergirl’s tentative grip on her hips growing stronger and pulling her impossibly close. When Lena managed to move one of her hands into Kara’s hair, the crumbling sound right next to them forced them to jump apart.
“Lena…” The Kryptonian whispered, absolutely out of breath. Luthor wasn’t paying attention, her eyes were searching for the source of the noise that destroyed the moment. Her eyes finally landed on the railing that she was leaning on. The part that Kara was holding a second ago was gone, a small twisted part of metal was lying on the floor. She exhaled amusedly and looked back at the woman in front of her. A set of big blue eyes were staring right back at her, although this time the puppy expression was gone, instead she was looking into eyes full of expectations and fear; perfectly mirroring her own now.
“We...can we talk after dinner?” Lena asker, her voice small and shaking a bit more than she hoped for. “Sure.” The blonde nodded but she didn’t move, still standing close, her forehead resting against Lena’s, “We should get back inside.” “We should.” Luthor agreed, her breathing becoming ragged. She wasn’t surprised when Kara leaned in and gave her one more quick peck on the lips before turning around and opening the door.
When they reached the table, Clark cleared his throat to get attention of his cousin, walking her a little further away from others. Kara gulped, wondering if he used his powers to find out what was happening in the hallway.
“Are you okay?” His voice sounded concerned and confused, “What happened?” “I..nothing. Nothing happened, why are you asking?” “I can hear your heartbeat Kara...it spiked so high that it was not possible to miss it.” Clark explained, “And hers too…” “I don’t know what are you talking about.” She shook her head, unfortunately not avoiding the blush that settled on her cheeks. It was enough for Superman to figure out what just happened and for his sake not asking any other questions. Both Kryptonians moved back to the table, avoiding eye contact with each other but finally happy to enjoy some food.

Supergirl: Legacy
Chapter Twenty - Likewise, Supergirl
“Lena...” Kara rushed into the L-Corp office, she didn’t bother waiting for the secretary to let her in. The reporter knew what she wanted to say and she knew that she had to say it now. “I was just about to call you.” Luthor jumped up and walked around the table toward the hero. “I...I need you to listen to me.” Kara sat down, nervously fiddling with her glasses while watching the CEO lean back on the table.
Tumblr media
“Last night I had a phone call with my mother-” “Lena…” “She was talking about some meeting with a professor-” “Lena!” “She gave him your DNA and I-” “What?! No, Lena, listen to me.” The blonde took a deep breath, taking her glasses off, “I understand now why...why you said those things...I understand why you won’t drop everything just because I-” “Kara...that’s not…” Luthor interrupted her but before she could explain, Supergirl continued. “Just let me talk…” “Alright.” Lena smiled, happy to see the parts of the superhero in the reporter. “I was thinking and...I could use some time to...to work on myself...I don’t do well with…” “Being alone…” She interrupted again, her voice barely audible.
Kara nodded and her mind briefly jumped back to the previous evening. She knew going back to Mon-El was a mistake, same as she knew that what happened with Alex wasn’t only his fault. Kara always wanted to ran to Lena, Supergirl always ended up running to the Daxamite. However Kara was Supergirl, Supergirl was Kara and it was time to make a choice. The reporter looked up at the CEO, hopeful green eyes were staring back at her. The office was quiet, a couple of second passed by before either of the women moved. All of the sudden, the blonde stood up and took one step forward. Her fingers clutched the frames of her glasses and the crack of the plastic echoed through the room.
“I don’t care how serious this thing is…” “This thing?” “With...Vale.” Supergirl’s voice was colored by a slight disgust. “It’s…” “I’m not done yet.” The hero stopped her, “I don’t care how serious it is. I’m not giving up Lena. I lost my family...and I got a chance to make a new one, as Kara Danvers...and I almost lost them too. Well, Alex...I almost lost Alex. I’m tired of losing people, it’s just-” “It’s not serious.” Luthor straightened up, she couldn’t stop the chuckle fighting it’s way out when Kara stopped talking. “What?” “It’s not serious.” “B-but she said...she said that…she’s your date for a lot of future nights?” “Vicki is a reporter, they say things to spur the situation in their favor...we are...not exclusive.” Lena considered this conversation amusing and she couldn’t decide if she should feel bad about it or not. “They do?” “Aren’t you a reporter?” “Not a good one I guess.” Kara shook her head, she didn’t even realize that the huge grin settled on her face. “I’d say the best one in the National City.” The CEO pulled her into a hug, feeling relieved. Lena would never admit to anyone how much she missed this.
After a while, the Kryptonian let go and started walking towards the door, trying hard to not break the eye contact with the other woman. She managed to not trip and find the handle of the door, which was a success given the condition of her mind at that moment.
“Would...would you come to my place for Thanksgiving?” She blurted out without thinking. “I’d love to.” Lena didn’t hesitate with the answer. “By the way...I-I knew that it’s not serious.” The reporter tried to put her glasses on but they wouldn’t hold thanks to the broken frame. “Is that so?” Luthor tilted her head and waited for an explanation. “Yeah...you are here with me and not in Gotham with her.” Kara stated boldly. “Kara, I have a company to run.” “You tell yourself that, Lena.” She smirked and walked out of the office.
“Alex, calm down.” Maggie chuckled.
Her fianceé was currently running around the DEO, waiting for J’onn to appear. She already invited Winn and James for Thanksgiving and she planned to do the same with the martian. The cop was watching her, nothing but adoration in her eyes. Maggie never had a huge Thanksgiving dinner with her family, maybe that’s one of the reason why she was so nervous. The other reason could be meeting Alex’s mother for the first time. Although now it was pretty clear, that the agent was more nervous than she was.
“I can’t...you don’t know my mother...and Clark is coming…” The redhead started rambling. “Alex...babe...slow down…” Maggie smiled and her hands ended on Alex’s shoulder, stopping her nervous pacing, “It’ll be okay.” “How can you be so sure?” The sight dimples, decorating the face of her girlfriend was calming but not as much as she needed now. “Just trust me?” She leaned in and kissed the agent gently, “Can you do that for me?” “Yeah…” Alex nodded clumsily, “I think I...I can do that.”
Their small moment was interrupted by a buzzing of the phone. The agent quickly looked at the message and groaned in frustration. She never enjoyed Thanksgiving, mostly because of her relationship with her mother. There wasn’t a single moment when Eliza wouldn’t compare her with Kara. Alex learned to drink during the dinners. A lot. It was impossible to beat Supergirl in eyes of her mom. There were other things too, for example Eliza Danvers had no knowledge of her daughter working for the DEO, or being gay and dating Maggie. Another almost impossible thing was to decide what was the scariest thing from those.
“Who’s that?” Maggie asked, after the wave of emotions disappeared from Alex’s face. “Kara. She invited Luthor for the dinner.” “And she said yes this time?” “Apparently.” “There is something else bothering you...I can see that.” “I kinda...forgot to mention to mother that you are alive...and that we are dating...she doesn’t know that...that I-” “Oh…you don’t have to tell her that we are together.” The detective assured her, but deep down she was hoping that Alex will tell her mother everything, especially since they were engaged now. “Are you kidding me?” The agent scoffed and raised her hand to bring the ring on her finger in front of Maggie’s face, “It’d be hard to hide it with this…” “You...you can always take it off.” “That’s very considerate, Mags, but I don’t plan on doing that.” Alex refused with a smile and nuzzled closer to her fianceé.
Kara stood on the roof of the building near her old apartment, the red cape fluttered in the wind behind her. She wrote quick message to Alex to inform her about the latest accomplishment in Kara’s life. A proud smile was stuck on her face since she left L-Corp. She was only hoping that her sister would also be proud. Before she could dive more into her thoughts, her Supergirl comm channel beeped a few times.
“Supergirl…” Lena’s voice was last thing that Kara expected. “Miss Luthor...What can I do for you?” She kept the conversation formal, even though it was unlikely that someone would break into the DEO comms. “I...I didn’t manage to tell you before...Cadmus has your DNA samples.” The Kryptonian immediately remembered Lena mentioning something like that in her office. This short sentence was something absolutely terrifying, not only for Kara but for all of National City. “Your mother?” “Yes...she said that she’s meeting with someone.” It was no surprise to Supergirl that the CEO was giving up her mother for the second time in such a short time. “Did she mention who?” “Some professor. She didn’t say a name, I’m sorry.” “Well, you don’t have to worry about that, we’ll find out.” Kara tried to reassure Lena that everything will be okay but her voice wasn’t as convincing as she wanted. “I’ll let you know if she calls again.” “Thank you...I...uh...have a nice day, Miss Luthor.” “Likewise, Supergirl.”
The comms were quiet right after that. The hero was a little anxious about the fact that Cadmus was operating with her DNA but there was no point in standing on the roof and thinking about what could happen. She jumped off the edge and flew towards the DEO.
“J’onn!” Alex yelled over the control room. “Agent Danvers.” The Martian smiled and walked towards her right away. “You have to come to the dinner.” “Dinner?” He looked a bit confused. “Thanksgiving. My mother will be there...and Kal-El is coming…” She whispered the last part, hoping to not irritate her boss. Last time when he and Superman met, it didn’t end really well. “Is that the best idea, Alex?” He asked, walking into the conference room with Alex and Maggie behind him. “J’onn, please you have to come. You know that I wouldn’t ask if it wouldn’t be important.” “Your mother won’t be happy to see me.” “I decided to tell her...everything…” “I see.” The room was silent for a few seconds, “In that case I’d be more than happy to come.” “Thank you!” Alex squealed and hugged the alien without giving him a chance to say anything else.
Maggie was watching them cautiously, her eyes were flooded with tears. She was glad to see someone replacing Alex’s father. However it was hard to watch for her, since her father was also gone from her life. He wasn’t dead but even if were to be Maggie would not care; not after what he did to her.
“Detective Sawyer?” J’onn’s voice pulled her out of her thoughts. “Y-yes?” Before she could scold herself for thinking about those things while being in the same room as someone who can read minds, he was already next to her. His arms locked tight around her, she didn’t move; once again surprised by his friendly gesture. “We have a problem.” Supergirl barged into the room, quickly walking towards her sister. “You need fashion advice to impress Luthor?” Alex chuckled and dodged Kara’s fist. “If that was the case I would definitely not be asking you for help.” The blonde retorted and it was her turn to dodge the punch. “So...what’s the emergency, little Danvers?” The cop was trying to cover the rest of the tears in her eyes. Moving the attention to something else would be enough most of the time but not whenever Alex was around. She always noticed those things. It didn’t take long before her fianceé pulled her into another hug. “Cadmus has my DNA.” “What are you talking about...the clone?” J’onn was startled by the news. “Wasn’t the only one...Lena told me about a phone call with her mother. She was meeting with some professor, sharing my DNA with him.” Kara explained. “That’s not good.” A small voice behind them gained their attention. “Agent Schott?” The Martian was slowly getting used to Winn listening to their conversations. “Can you find her?” Alex’s mind was instantly trying to find solution to this situation. “I can try.” Winn nodded, “Don’t think it’ll work though. Maybe Lena could help?” “We are not bringing her to the DEO.” Supergirl quickly refused the idea. There was no way that she would allow Lena to get into the middle of this. They will have to find another option.

Supergirl: Legacy
Chapter Nineteen - The Professor
Kara was standing on the balcony, wearing only Mon-El’s blue shirt. Tears were freely falling down her cheeks. She managed to run away from the bedroom right in time to stop herself from doing something she would regret later. Her fingers clutched tighter around the small phone in her hand. Before she could read the messages that the young CEO left her, the glass door behind her opened and the Daxamite slipped carefully behind the blonde.
Tumblr media
“Where did you go?” He didn’t even try to hide the confusion in his voice. Kara scoffed, sometimes she forgot that he wasn’t really used to hearing “no” from anyone. “Look…” She started, turning around to see his puppy eyes, “I shouldn’t have come here. I really need to…” “Really need to what?” He grabbed her wrist and pulled her closer. “I really need to talk with Alex. We still didn’t…” Kara started explaining and moved towards the edge of the balcony. “Is it that important that you have to go right now?” Mon-El sounded a little annoyed, his grip on Kara’s wrist was getting tighter and tighter every second. “Don’t you dare.” She growled back at him, “Alex is the most important person in my life. Don’t you dare even try to start comparing yourself to her.” The blonde managed to free herself from him without any problems. She was about to jump and fly away when she remembered that she still had no other clothes on than just his shirt. “Oh, so I am not even close?” Daxamite scoffed and blocked the door leading back into the apartment. “Close to what?” Kara knew the answer, yet she asked. There was an insane amount of anger in her since Lena sent her the message. It was hard enough to not fly into L-Corp and get rid of Vicki, now she had to deal with Mon-El’s whining but there was no one else to blame; just her. “Close to taking Alex’s place?” He raised his eyebrows, looking a bit bewildered about the fact that Kara had to ask that question. “You…” She took a deep breath and shook her head, “You are the reason why she is not talking with me. You and your stupid need to be my white knight or whatever!” The Kryptonian pushed him back, she could feel some of the anger leaving her body as Mon-El stumbled back into the apartment, “You are the reason why Maggie almost died! You...you broke my sister!” She continued pushing him until his back was against the wall. “Kara...!” Before he could finish his sentence, Supergirl picked up all her clothes and left without another word.
“Alex!” The agent jumped up from the bed at the sound of her name. “Was that?” Maggie asked, amused by the situation that was happening quite often. “Kara, yes.” Alex nodded and a small groan of frustration escaped from her mouth. “Go on babe…” The detective chuckled, “We can continue later.” “Alex! I can hear you...Oh Rao! No.” The blonde rushed through the door but after seeing half naked Maggie, she turned on her heel and disappeared faster than light. “Great…” Alex rolled her eyes and followed her sister outside her apartment, accompanied by the noises of her fianceé almost choking at Kara’s antics. It wasn’t hard to find Supergirl who was completely regretting her previous entrance right now.
“What is it Kara?” “I thought that maybe...maybe we could talk now? I mean if it’s too early for you...I-I understand...I also really miss...miss my sister and...I broke up with Mon-El...told Lena that I am Supergirl,” Kara carefully looked up at Alex, smirking a bit when she saw her expression, “I also asked her to a dinner...but she...she…” The reporter broke down in tears. “Kara, Kara, slow down…” Alex instinctively pulled the hero into her arms, “I’m sorry, Kara, so sorry…” “No.” The Kryptonian sobbed loudly, “I should have protected Maggie. I should have done more…” “That’s...no, Kara, you almost died. You...you did enough. I know I wasn’t exactly the best sister the last few weeks…” “I missed you so much.” Kara snuggled closer to the familiar warmth of Alex’s embrace just as the door opened and Maggie slipped right behind the agent. “Little Danvers.” The detective whispered, looking down at the fragile blonde; sometimes it was hard to believe that she was the Girl of Steel, “Everything okay?” “She asked Luthor for a dinner.” “As Kara or as Super-?” “And also told her…” The redhead continued explaining. “Lena knew already.” Kara interrupted with another loud sob. “Of course she did.” Maggie chuckled and locked her arms around both Danvers sisters. “Want to watch a movie?” Alex asked and a smile settled on her face when Kara gave her a content sigh as an answer and dragged her back into the apartment.
Lena was sitting in the kitchen with a glass of wine in her hand. Vicki already left the town and the CEO was all alone with her thoughts. Lena knew that she was falling for Kara ridiculously fast and it was obvious that she wasn't doing anything to stop herself. Since the young reporter was also National City’s finest hero, Luthor was expecting a bit of a fight for the relationship, however after seeing Lena with Vicki, Kara was keeping radio silence. Just when she was about to get more wine, her phone started buzzing. Her heart rate spiked for a second as she noticed that the caller ID was blocked; it could be Supergirl.
“Hello?” “Hello, darling…” A very familiar voice answered. “Mother…” Lena growled back and her fingers clutched the phone tighter, “Shouldn’t you be locked away...somewhere?” “Oh, don’t be funny...I heard that you are making new connections? Thinking of expanding into Gotham? Lex would be proud…” Lillian chuckled and continued, “Much more so than if he knew you were hanging out with the Super all the time.” “I am not expanding anywhere, Mother.” The CEO’s voice was stone-cold. “Lena…” long sigh and dramatic pause, something that Lillian mastered over the past few years, “You will always be a Luthor. It’s time for you to really join the family...your disgraceful attempts to ruin our name were a nice change at the beginning, now it’s just irritating…” “I will never...ever...in my whole life...stop with-” “I am sorry, Lena...I have a very important meeting with a certain professor who can really appreciate the DNA samples of your Kryptonian friend.” “What?” Lena almost screamed into the phone. “Unfortunately, I don’t have time to explain.” With that Lillian ended the call.
Young Luthor was left standing confused in her office. She didn’t know if Supergirl was aware of Cadmus having her DNA. It was time to break the silence, even if just for a minute. Lena considered the option of trying to find out more about her mother’s plan.
“So...will you need any help with the wedding?” Kara asked, resting next to her sister on the sofa. “Oh-” “It’s all done.” Maggie interrupted her fianceé and bit her lip to prevent the urge to laugh at Kara’s face. “O-okay…” The disappointment in Supergirl’s voice ruined her effort; even Alex started chuckling, “What? Why are you laughing?” “Do you really think, that I’d plan my wedding without my little sister?” The agent pulled Kara closer; even though Alex locked her arms around the hero quickly, she couldn't stop the swift gentle punch that was going towards Maggie's shoulder. “You owe me potstickers for this.” The Kryptonian mumbled softly and moved closer to Alex. “Alright, alright…” Maggie was almost choking with a laughter.
The agent looked at the two women and a huge grin decorated her face. She was finally happy again. Maybe it could all go back to normal. Maybe she could feel like this for a long time; maybe even forever. The perfect future with her wife, getting a dog, kids, having Kara around… Her thoughts were interrupted by Kara’s phone. The reporter quickly grabbed it from the table and read the message.
“What’s going on?” Alex leaned forward and looked into her sister’s eyes. “Kal-El will come over for Thanksgiving!” She excitedly jumped off of the sofa. “Kal-El? As in...Superman?” Maggie seemed a bit surprised by the information. “Yes…” The agent exhaled and amusedly watched the hero freak out over her cousin’s visit.

Supergirl: Legacy
Chapter Eighteen - I won
Kara’s phone was ringing like crazy, she only glanced at the screen briefly, seeing that Lena sent her several messages. She landed inside Maggie’s apartment, that she was allowed to use after the clone incident and decided to read them, maybe the CEO wanted to get the dinner after all.
Tumblr media
The Kryptonian wasn’t surprised when she read the last message. ‘Sorry you had to find out like this, I waited for so long Kara. Now it’s your turn. L.’ Kara didn’t even care what was in the rest of the messages. Her eyes flooded with tears and she dropped back into her bed. Everything should have worked out, Alex was happy with Maggie. She knew that they still needed to talk but her sister deserved some time with her fiancee before they were forced to solve their issues. And Lena? Lena was supposed to be hers. It was hard to believe that when Kara was finally able to sort out her feelings for the young Luthor, someone else showed up. However there was no one else to blame, just her, for taking so long. The hero was heartbroken, her mind immediately flashed to the only possible match for Supergirl: Mon-El.
Lena was sitting in the restaurant, her eyes following Vicki’s every movement. The redhead was deliberately teasing the CEO as much as she could; her leg brushing Lena’s under the table constantly was just one of the things she prepared. Even though she tried her best to get her date into the mood, she could notice how oblivious Lena was.
“What did she tell you?” Vicki asked, her voice a bit lower than Luthor was used to. “Who?” Lena asked, trying to look as innocent as she could. “Supergirl…” “Oh,” the CEO tilted her head, hoping to come up with something quickly. “Hmm...so she’s the one you were fawning over.” Vale scoffed. “Is that so bad?” Lena chuckled, leaning closer onto the table. “I personally consider Wonder Woman more attractive but...I won’t judge you.” Vicki also leaned forward, her thumb slowly drawing circles on Luthor’s arm. “Because she doesn’t hide who she is, right?” “Are you more in love with Supergirl or with her other identity?” Vicki teased back, clearly enjoying Lena’s sputtering form. “I…that’s a stupid question...it’s still the same person.” “Alien.” “Whatever…” Lena rolled her eyes and chuckled, “So, you like the Amazon princess?” “You’re dodging my question, Miss Luthor.” The reported pouted playfully, “But yes, I do. It’s easy to keep track of what she does.” “Some things should stay secret.” “Are you referring to us?” The redhead raised an eyebrow, slowly looking around the restaurant. “I think it’s a bit late for that.” Lena intertwined their fingers, gaining back Vicki’s attention, “Is there an us?” “I...if you want to?”
The CEO was quiet for a long time, staring at the woman in front of her, hoping to get answers for all her problems. Vicki was patient. She tilted her head and waited. However the sparks in her eyes were slowly dying and it was obvious that she started to doubt the timing of her question. Lena knew that she could just drop everything and run to Kara, she also knew that it would be a mistake. Even though she dreamed about the moment when Supergirl would admit her feelings and reveal her identity, Lena was sure that the blonde needed some time. She had to know for certain that Kara wasn’t doing this just because she broke up with that annoying baby. Luthor tried hard to remember his name but it was pointless, obviously it wasn’t important for her at all. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes for a couple of seconds.
“You’ll have to go back to Gotham.” “I will.” Vicki nodded, “Actually, I have to go tomorrow.” “I can’t go there with you…” Lena sighed. “You can ask Supergirl to fly you over whenever you would want.” A goofy grin decorated the face of the reporter. “Huh...idiot.” Luthor kicked her softly under the table but a small smile appeared on her face. “We...we don’t have to be exclusive you know…” Vale started, her voice colored by a bit sadder tone and Lena immediately regretted this whole conversation. “Would you want that?” “I think...that could work for me, will it work for your other woman though?” Teasing smirk returned to Vicki’s face and Lena couldn’t help but chuckle. “You are very cheeky tonight, Miss Vale.” The CEO shook her head, still chuckling. “Then maybe...maybe you should get me out of here and do something about it?” “Maybe…” Lena nodded as she stood up and waited for Vicki to accompany her out from the restaurant.
Alex was carefully walking around her apartment, trying hard not to wake up Maggie who was now contently sleeping in the bed. Everyone knew that the older Danvers was the last person who should be allowed into the kitchen. Well, everyone except Alex herself. She grabbed Maggie’s white button up and walked over to the kitchen. It took her longer than she expected but she managed to find all the things she needed to make a blueberry pancakes that her girlfriend liked so much. Maggie woke up few minutes after Alex but she stayed in the bed, enjoying the view of the badass DEO agent making her way through the kitchen. Although the detective was ready to step in if it would be needed, like that one time when Alex set half of the pie on fire. Maggie still had no idea how she managed to that. A huge smile settled on the cop’s face as she watched her fianceé intently studying the recipe on her phone. She could hear the whispered curses as Alex tried to measure all the ingredients. It didn’t take long until Maggie slipped out of the bed and quietly approached the kitchen counter behind the agent.
“You little piece of shit…” Alex scolded the bag of flour after it exploded to her face. The sound of Maggie’s laughter echoing through the apartment made her jump back and she stared outraged at the detective. “Do you need some help, babe?” Maggie managed to choke out before another wave of laughter took over her body. “I...just...I wanted to make you breakfast…” The agent threw her hands in the air, completely forgetting that she was still holding the bag with the white powder and it covered the rest of the kitchen. “Maybe you should have bought it somewhere…” The detective leaned forward on the counter, hoping to steal a kiss from her girlfriend but Alex got a different idea. She also leaned forward but as soon as Maggie closed her eyes, the agent threw the rest of the flour in her face. “Ally!” The detective cried out and reached for the bag. They ended up fighting for half an hour. When Maggie straddled Alex in the middle of the kitchen that was now more like a war zone, the agent sighed and pulled her down for a soft kiss.
“I won…” Maggie whispered and rested her forehead against Alex’s. “Yeah?” “Obviously, you are on your back Danvers.” “I think being on my back with you on top is actually a win for me.” She smirked and tried to kiss the cop again. To her surprise, Maggie moved away from her reach and tilted her head without saying a word. A devilish grin appearing on her face when Alex whined quietly, hoping that the detective would move closer again. “Aw, Danvers, do you want something from me?” Maggie teased her, enjoying the power that she had over the woman. “Sawyer…you are killing me.” The agent growled, hopelessly trying to free her hands but Maggie was holding her wrists down. If Alex would really wanted to she could have overpowered the tiny detective in a second but they both knew how much this turned her on. “I do want something from you though…” “What?” Alex hoped that it would involve a bed and possibly handcuffs but she was wrong. “I’d like to have that breakfast.” “Really funny, Sawyer…” The agent rolled her eyes as Maggie bursted into another uncontrollable laughter, “You can make it yourself now.” The pout on Alex’s face didn’t help at all and the detective had to let go of her wrists to wipe off the tears.
“Yeah...I got it Danvers...but maybe you could...be a good girl and clean this mess?” Maggie’s voice dropped lower and Alex’s breath hitched. “O-okay…” She simply whispered back, failing in regaining her composure. “And after you’ll be done with that.” The detective’s lips moved closer to Alex’s neck, pressing gentle kisses all over, “I’ll have to reward you…” Maggie leaned back slightly to see  her girlfriend’s eyes widen more and more, “For being a good girl…” The moan escaped from agent’s lips before she continued, “My good girl…” With that, the detective bit down on Alex’s pulse point, leaving a mark as the woman under her violently bucked her hips up. “Mags…” “Well, hurry up Danvers…” Maggie jumped up to her feet and the moment was gone as quickly as it started, “I’m really hungry.” She winked at the frustrated agent. “You’re mean…” Alex complained, standing up. “You love it.” “I do…” The agent wrapped her arms around Maggie’s waist and smiled.

Supergirl: Legacy
Chapter Seventeen - It’s for you
Maggie was standing clueless in front of Alex’s apartment. She thought that the agent would be there but the flat was empty. Kara’s place wasn’t an option and Alex wouldn’t go to a bar so the last choice was the DEO. Without further hesitation, Maggie ran to her bike and drove off towards Alex’s workplace. It didn’t take long to get there, she left the bike in front of the door, not really bothering with proper parking. A nervous smile appeared on her face when she finally saw her girlfriend but it was replaced with a worried one when she noticed the really angry Supergirl right next to Alex.
Tumblr media
“Danvers!” She cleared her throat and walked over to the women. “I don’t think that this is a good time, detective.” Supergirl moved to stop her. “Super-Kara…” Maggie took a deep breath, looking up at the hero, “Please, don’t get involved in this. Let me talk with her.” “Supergirl-” J’onn’s firm voice echoed through the control room but the Kryptonian ignored him. “You did enough already…” She glared at the detective. “Supergirl…” J’onn tried again, finally gaining Kara’s attention, “Let her through.” “But J’onn-” “Kara, trust me.” He was smiling at both of them. Maggie shifted uncomfortable under his gaze, her fingers playing nervously with the contents of her pocket. Supergirl raised her hands and moved aside. Alex was looking in disbelief at the both of them, making sure to avoid looking at Maggie.
The detective walked cautiously around the aliens, her hand reaching for Alex who was now quietly pacing around. She squeezed Alex’s arm softly, waiting for any kind of response. The agent froze, staring into the ground. Maggie gulped, feeling Supergirl’s eye watching her carefully.
“Alex…” Her voice was trembling, “I have to tell-” “Spare me the long story, Sawyer.” Alex scoffed, “Did you change your mind during the week with her or were you thinking about it before that?” “Oh I was thinking about it way before that…” Maggie said without thinking about the consequences. “Excuse me?” She looked up into Alex’s horrified face. “Shit, Danvers, I didn’t mean it like that…” The detective pulled her closer, “I called her. I asked her to meet me I...I needed something from her.” Alex opened her mouth but Maggie stopped her, “All that happened after wasn’t part of the plan…” “Oh so you didn’t plan to-” The agent jumped in, shaking off Maggie’s hand. “Danvers…” “No. You listen to me, Sawyer-” “Damn it, Agent Danvers!” J’onn stopped her from saying a lot of hurtful things, “Let her talk. That’s an order.” “That’s...You...You can’t order me to do that!” She threw her hands in the air, her yelling gaining attention of other agents in the room, “Did you read my mind? Did you see what she did? I am not going to listen to her...you saw the box...I am pretty sure that there was a ring in there-” Alex continued her rambling. “It’s for you…” Maggie whispered, her voice small and vulnerable. “And you saw how happy she was and…wait…” It took a moment before Alex realized what the cop just said, “What?” Her eyes found Maggie’s immediately and she stared at her, speechless.
“It was always for you, Danvers.” She pulled out the box from her pocket, “It’s my aunt’s ring. I...I gave it to Kate before...I called her and asked if she could bring it and that’s why she was here.” Her eyes were flooded with tears, “I was thinking about it for a long time, you uh...we make a great team.” Alex was nodding, the smile on her face getting bigger and bigger, “Ally, nothing happened between me and Kate. Do you believe me?” “Yeah…” The agent whimpered. “I need to...I need you to answer one question for me…” Maggie opened the box, revealing the simple gold ring. “Oh Rao,” Kara covered her mouth and watched the couple excitedly. “Alex Danvers,” The cop waited for another small nod to make sure that the woman didn’t drift into some wild fantasy, “Alex Danvers, will you marry me?” She didn’t kneel down, she knew she didn’t have to. “Yes, yes, yes…” The agent repeated several times, resting her forehead against Maggie’s. “Yeah?” The detective breathed out. “Yeah.” Alex assured her, “I love you, Maggie.” “Right…” She chuckled, “We kinda skipped that.” “You made it pretty clear without the words.” Alex leaned in, kissing her girlfriend gently. “Still…” Maggie whispered, her fingers tracing Alex’s jaw, “I love you.” “Are you sure? Because you could have a superhero…” The agent pouted but her eyes were sparkling with happiness. “Danvers.” Maggie grinned back at her, “You are my superhero.” She nuzzled into Alex’s neck, finally feeling like everything is how it should be.
After watching the happy couple, Kara’s mind started going back to the feeling that she was ignoring lately. Alex always put her first and at least once she had to make sure that it will be the other way around. Her sister was happy, she was practically glowing. So now was the time to focus on Kara Danvers and that was something that the Kryptonian postponed lately. Thankfully Mon-El hadn't shown up to the DEO since their last conversation and Kara didn’t have to worry about his hurt feelings. The memories of Lena sneaked in, she wondered if it would be so wrong to tell her. Not only that Kara planned on telling her friend that she is Supergirl, she also planned on telling her about her feelings. Even though the Kryptonian was still a little confused about them, she had a hope that the CEO could help her with that. She just wanted to be happy too, like Alex. Because Alex Danvers wasn’t a superhero only for Maggie, she was also a superhero for Supergirl.
“Kara…” The detective’s voice pulled her out of her thoughts. “Maggie.” She smiled, “I am sorry about…” “Don’t mention it.” Maggie looked at her thoughtfully, “What is bothering you?” “Is it that obvious?” Kara exhaled, “I...it’s...Lena…” “You like her.” The cop grinned at the hero, giving her time to process everything. “Is that also obvious?” Supergirl yelped surprisingly. “Calm down,” She laughed warmly and continued, “What about your boyfriend?” “I told him that I need a break…” “So you ended it?” “No...I guess...I don’t...Ugh.” Kara growled, looking at Maggie helplessly, “What do I do?” “First, go talk to her. You owe it to yourself, Kara.”
Their conversation was interrupted by Alex, she pulled the cop to her arms and smiled at Kara. The Kryptonian knew that her sister wasn’t ready to talk yet but that smile showed that she will be, soon. Her face lit up with a possibility of having the relationship with her sister back and she turned around, flying off to the L-Corp.
She landed at the balcony and walked into Lena’s office, not waiting for the invitation. The CEO jumped up from her chair, startled. Supergirl stood in front of the woman, quietly, considering what should she say.
“Supergirl.” Lena started, “What can I do for you?” “We...we need to talk.” The Kryptonian choked out, pacing nervously around the office, “I need to tell you something. Something important.” “Alright…” Luthor nodded and leaned back on her table. “I...I am Kara Danvers.” “Alright…” She repeated, enjoying the confused expression on Kara’s face. “You knew?” “Of course I did...but I appreciate that you trust me enough to tell me.” Lena assured the hero with a smile on her face. “Right…there's another reason I'm here too...I...I broke up with Mike.” Kara blurted out before she could change her mind. “Are you okay?” It was almost incredible how quickly could the feared Luthor, turn into a caring mess. “Actually...yes, I am.” Supergirl seemed surprised with her own answer, “I know that you are probably busy but I was hoping that maybe...maybe we could get a dinner. I would really like to spend more time with you…” “Kara…” Lena scoffed sadly. “What I am saying is that...I...I think I like you.” Kara’s fingers were playing with the pattern on her suit. The door to the CEO’s office opened and the tall redhead stepped in. She didn’t mind Supergirl’s presence, the woman hugged Lena from behind, pressing a soft kiss to her cheek.
“Ready to go?” “Uh…” Lena watched the blonde cautiously, her face was showing a signs of distress. Kara could only guess if the CEO was disappointed because she couldn’t react on the big news. “Supergirl this is Vicki Vale, she’s a uh...reporter from Gotham and she’s also…” She didn’t finish the sentence, unsure of what would be an appropriate thing to say since they hadn't talked about it yet. “Also her date for tonight.” The redhead filled the missing information, the excitement from meeting the hero clearly audible in her voice. Lena smirked, amused at how hard Vicki was trying to stay indifferent, “And for a lot of future nights.” She winked at the Kryptonian and Kara gulped. “Well...Don’t let me keep you, Miss Luthor.” The pain in her voice made Lena’s heart clench. “Supergirl...” She tried to stop her but Kara was already leaving the balcony. “I guess I have a few more questions for my story, Miss Luthor.” Vicki mockingly copied Supergirl’s voice and followed the CEO out of her office.

Supergirl: Legacy
Chapter Sixteen - Don’t you dare to walk out
Alex didn't like that Batwoman was using the same nickname for her girlfriend as she did but the feeling of having Maggie back overcame everything else. They got to Alex's apartment in record time; the agent was exhausted, she curled up on her bed, her eyes never leaving Maggie. She watched her change into her comfortable black tank top, her mouth going dry when the cop took off her clothes. Soon the room went dark as Maggie turned off the lights and Alex felt something she had been heavily missing for the last few weeks. The familiar warm pressed into her as the detective cuddled closer to her. She was a top DEO agent, yet she couldn't help but gasp when Maggie's hips rolled back into hers.
Tumblr media
"Mags..." She whispered, leaning closer, her lips sucking gently on Maggie's neck. "Yes?" The detective asked innocently but her hoarse voice gave her away. "Don't..." Alex had to pause when the woman in front of her repeated the motion, "Don't stop.” "Fuck." Maggie muttered and it was her turn to for fight air when Alex slipped one of her hands under the small piece of red fabric. Her fingertips immediately dipping into the wetness there. The detective whimpered when Alex let her fingers rest on top Maggie's clit. They didn't move. Maggie was trying to catch her breath and Alex was just savouring the long deserved time with her girlfriend.
She was so overwhelmed with Maggie's presence that she didn't even realize what was happening. It was all so natural and it definitely felt right. The strong fingers started to move in tight circles against Maggie and she could barely keep her thoughts straight. The detective wondered for a second if this was really the first time that Alex had done this but that thought was interrupted by the desperate whine coming from somewhere behind her.
"Ally..." Maggie rasped, her mouth refusing to form more words as the two tentative fingers slipped inside her. The detective felt like her lungs held all the air from the room. It might as well had been true since Alex had a major problem with breathing, feeling the exact opposite. The agent was so lost in the sensation of having Maggie wrapped tight around her fingers that she forgot to move. The gentle rocking of Maggie's hips brought her back to reality however. She started slow, the cop pressing back into her with every move. It wasn't hard for them to keep the rhythm but it was progressively becoming harder for Alex to keep her hips still. She bit down on her lower lip and buried her fingers as deep as she could into her girlfriend. Maggie braced herself against the headboard as she screamed. Alex groaned, unhappy with the angle she had but Maggie's screams only spurred on her movements.
"What..." Maggie whined and grabbed Alex's arm when she tried to pull out. "The angle is all wrong?" The agent hovered over Maggie's body; taking in the view and getting lost in her head. "Danvers." The dangerously low voice pulled her out of her thoughts. The detective was lying on her back, staring up at the gorgeous agent above her. Tears were sparkling in Alex's eyes but she was smiling. Maggie was quickly becoming frustrated, however pushing Alex certainly wasn't something she would want to do. Instead of voicing her feelings, she shoved them down and caressed agent's cheek. "Ally, talk with me. What's going on in that brilliant mind of yours?"
Alex didn't answer, she ran her hand slowly down Maggie's body. Her fingertips leaving a small trail of wetness behind as they smoothly copied every curve on the beautiful skin. When she reached her previous destination, she stopped and left her fingers resting near Maggie's entrance.
"I thought you died..." Alex started, taking a couple of deep breaths, "I was there...I saw your body Mags." "Oh Alex..." She whispered, her thumb gently wiping off the tears. "I drank a lot...and then they forced me...to go to the funeral. I blamed Kara for everything." "It wasn't her fault, babe." The soothing voice was encouraging Alex to continue. "I know that...I went to see her and there was the clone."
At that exact moment, the agent decided to push her fingers into Maggie again. The detective cried out and her hips arched up. Alex didn't move, her palm intentionally pressing against Maggie's clit.
"I saw you die twice." "Dan-D-Oh god, Alex." Guttural moans were now escaping Maggie's lips as Alex started with a punishing pace. "Twice, Sawyer. Do you have any idea what it did to me?" "N...no." The cop worked hard on keeping the eye contact, even though her eyes were closing with the waves of pleasure rolling through her body. "I thought that I'd never get to touch you again..." Alex pushed even deeper, "That I'd never kiss you aga-fuck..." She felt the thigh between her legs and her body immediately started grinding against it, "I...I thought that I'd never...get to...do this." Her breathing became ragged and heavy.
Maggie pulled Alex into a kiss, keeping one of her hands behind her neck and the other still holding the headboard behind her. She felt Alex's tongue grazing her lips. It was obvious what the agent wanted but she had a different plan. Her hand moved to Alex's ass, roughly squeezing the flesh there and helping her grind harder against Maggie's thigh. Alex let out a long content sigh, when she opened her mouth Maggie didn't waste any time and slipped her tongue inside.
"I need...I need to..." The agent broke the kiss after a while and rested her forehead against Maggie's. She could barely talk over the moans that were coming out. "Tell me?" The detective wasn't any luckier. She managed to choke out two words before her voice failed her. Alex stopped moving her fingers for a second to give them both room to breathe. "I need to see that you are alive..." It sounded so broken and scared.
Maggie could feel tears in her own eyes when she realized how devastated Alex was, while she spent a week with her ex fiancee hiding in the motel room. All those people crying for her...
"Can you...can you cum for me, Mags?" Alex whispered into her ear, forcing her to join the reality once again. "Not if you won't move..." The detective quickly glanced between their bodies, smirking when she noticed that Alex never stopped grinding against her. "Fuck you..." The agent hissed, curling her fingers after few particularly hard thrusts that were supposed to wipe off the smug grin from Maggie's face. Unsuccessfully. "That feels so good, babygirl." The detective got carried along a little not knowing if Alex even enjoys this kind of talking but to her surprise, she didn't protest, "Faster..." The sound was something between moan and scream but it was enough. "Come on, Sawyer..." Alex growled, not even trying to hide how close she was but determined to wait for her girlfriend. "Yes, yes, yes, oh god...you're such a good girl Ally." With that Alex lost it. She bit down hard on Maggie's shoulder to stifle her scream as she came hard. This view was the last push that Maggie needed to follow Alex over the edge. Her hips were still twitching every couple of seconds when the agent's body fell pliant on top of hers. Silence in the room was only occasionally interrupted by deep breaths or small moan whenever one of them tried to move. Maggie wasn't sure if she should say something, she wrapped her arms around Alex's body and softly kissed her head. That was the moment when she noticed that her girlfriend was crying. It almost tore her heart apart when the sobs gained on intensity but Maggie didn't let go. She would never let Alex go, she knew that for sure.
Mornings after where usually hard for Maggie but this one started good. She wasn’t tired even though her muscles were sore. When she woke up Alex was still sleeping, her arm was locked firmly around Maggie’s waist. A content smile on her face was a sign of how happy she was. The detective had to fight hard to slip out of bed without waking her up. As soon as she was able to stand up, Alex let out a low whine, clearly missing the warmth of Maggie’s body.
The detective walked over to the kitchen, she searched through the cupboards and pulled out the ingredients to make pancakes. It was an easy choice for breakfast since she knew how much Alex loved them. It was also needed if Maggie wanted to follow through on her decision and tell her girlfriend about her week with Kate. Soon the incredible smell filled the apartment and the agent started waking up slowly. Maggie could hear the shuffling of sheets and before she could even prepare the pancakes to the plate that she intended to bring to bed a pair of soft hands settled at her stomach; she felt Alex’s hot breath on the back of her neck.
“This is nice.” The agent whispered while leaving tender kisses all over Maggie’s shoulders. “Right.” She chuckled. “What did I do to deserve this?” Alex joked, her hands dropping to Maggie’s waist, slowly pushing to turn her around. “Ally…” The cop hesitated before turning around to look up at Alex’s eyes, seeing the surprise there when the first tear rolled down her cheek. Maggie knew that this wouldn't be easy. She leaned in to kiss the agent but her lips were met with nothing but air when Alex took a step back. “No, we are not doing this.” She shook her head, “Sit down and talk with me, Mags.” “Yeah...you are right, we have to talk.” Maggie nodded and took a plate, moving to the bar slowly. Alex followed her and waited patiently, her heart sinking down more and more with each minute of silence. She was about to say something to encourage the detective but she didn’t get to it. Maggie took one of the pancakes and stuffed it into Alex’s mouth before she could speak. The agent chew the food quickly, her eyes avoiding her girlfriend. “You are stalling.” Was the only thing that Alex was able to say. “Danvers…” Maggie took a deep breath, “Batwoman...didn’t save me yesterday.” She left it like that, trying to figure out what was going on in Alex’s mind before continuing. It didn’t sound that bad...yet. “What do you mean?” The agent’s eyes were wide but she still didn’t look at her. “We met...me and Batwoman...at the morning of the day I was kidnapped.” “So she was visiting...you…” Alex was trying hard to keep herself together. She remembered the way Maggie look at the hero. Her bottom lip started to tremble. “Yeah...and we were supposed to meet again the next day...but I didn’t show up and she knew...that something happened.” “Right…” The agent stared into her plate, taking another bite of the delicious meal to bury down the sobs. “She rescued me a week ago. We were hiding in the motel at the edge of the city.”
The room was silent immediately after Maggie finished her sentence. Alex didn’t move, she even stopped chewing. Her brain was trying to process the information. After what seemed like an eternity, Maggie put her hand on Alex’s arm. The agent flinched away, almost falling down from the bar stool.
“Alex…” “No!” Her voice was harsher than she wanted, “You could have called! You could have let me know that you are okay!” “Alex…” “Even if you just sent a fucking postcard!” “Danvers!” Maggie yelled back at her to make her listen, at least for another minute, “It was too dangerous. We didn’t know where the clone was, she thought that it would be better to hide-” “Of course she thought it would be better…” Alex scoffed, “Did you…” “Danvers, don’t.” “Did you sleep with her?” She asked the question that was bothering her the most, although Alex wasn’t really sure if she wants to hear the answer. “Are you fucking kidding me?” Maggie got off her chair and glared at the agent. “If you did…” Alex pointed at her, “If you did then...you didn’t have to come back... you should have...kept pretending that you are dead!” The hurt in her voice was almost touchable. She trusted Maggie with her life but after seeing her look at the Gotham hero, she couldn’t get over her insecurities. The detective shook her head and walked over to the door. “Don’t you dare to walk out on me, Sawyer.” Alex threatened, her voice breaking when she noticed the different spark in Maggie’s eyes. She wasn’t sad or angry, she was actually amused by all this and that drove the agent crazy, “Or you know what? Go.” “Oh Danvers…” The cop gave her a small smile and walked out the door. Alex considered going after her but when she got to the door, she heard Maggie on the phone.
“Yeah...just like before, I’ll be there in ten.”
The agent followed Maggie down the street, keeping her distance. Even though her girlfriend was a cop, she would hardly notice that she was being followed by the top DEO agent. When the detective turned and walked excitedly into the park, Alex waited for a while before she moved closer.
Maggie was leaning on the tall tree, at first it looked like she was just out clearing her head, before the redhead appeared. The same woman that Alex saw during the funeral. The same woman Maggie dated for months. The same woman that was saving Gotham over and over again. Alex felt like her body was sinking into the ground. How could she compete with another hero? She was compared to Kara for her whole life and now when it finally seemed like she could have something that was only hers, another hero appeared. At least this time she was human. She was standing on the corner of the street next to the park, having a perfect view on the whole situation. When the redhead put her arms around Maggie’s shoulders and pulled her into a hug, the agent clenched her fists, fighting the urge to run over there and beat the shit out of her.
They sat down on of the benches and got lost in the conversation. Alex saw all the way too familiar gestures, hand on the thigh, the happy and content smiles but she certainly didn’t expect the next thing: The redhead reached for something in her pocket. The agent wasn’t that far away from them to not notice how Maggie’s body went stiff when the hero showed her the small black box. Alex didn’t need to have x-ray vision to know what was inside. Her knees buckled and when she saw Maggie nodding, she decided that it was enough. The pain in her chest reached a limit that she couldn't handle.
The shiny green eyes pierced right into hers. She felt like she couldn't breathe and her body certainly didn’t want to listen. Her brain was trying to persuade her to run but she didn’t. Alex watched the redhead in panic. Soon, the green eyes were accompanied by a brown ones. The only difference was that this time, Maggie didn’t look amused, she was horrified. She quickly grabbed the box with the ring and jumped to her feet to go after Alex, who now, finally tricked her legs into moving.
Unfortunately, even with her police training, Maggie wasn’t fast enough to catch up with the agent and she lost her after couple of minutes; the Gotham hero right behind her.
