TSSM!Max Dillon x Reader Headcanons
Pairing: TSSM!Max Dillon x Fem!Reader
Warnings: Fluff, talks of childhood abuse, mild angst, Max is a touch starved lad and he's released from that facility bc I can <33
A/N: I hate the fact we barely see how Max is like before the accident so I mostly make up his lore myself out of self indulgence and we at least get to know Jamie!Electro before his eel accident😭
So it also serves as my headcanon lore dump for TSSM!Max, taking inspiration from both the comics and TASM2. and one of my comfort celebs who has a similar childhood to that of Comic!Max.
The embodiment of a soft as fuck boyfriend material
His rough childhood made him prefer hanging out with his friends than staying at home, but his S/O holds a special place in his heart to the point he moved in with you once he graduated high school.
Unfortunately ever since he was young, he had to endure abuse from both his mom and his dad. At first it was his dad being physically and mentally abusive to him and his mom before they divorced, but his mom changed and slowly became worse over the years. She was overprotective of him, so at first he assumed she cared about him but as he grew up, she started talking him down out of guise of "never wanting my son to be like your father" but it does nothing but make Max feel downplayed.
At first he had trouble making friends because of how overprotective his mom is but once he reached high school, he made friends that supported his feelings and the best part? He also met you and started dating each other a few days after knowing him.
Despite his rocky relationship with his mom, Max eventually learnt to cope with the abuse by staying positive like one of his idols. Yes, he does have the anger bursts from time to time whenever he's upset but it stemmed from him often fighting with his mom at home.
He then started working in Dr. Connors' lab as an electrician there mostly to fund himself, to put his skills in electrical engineering to use, along with to prove to his mom that he's more than capable of fending for himself and not be a failure to the whole world. It's a slow progress, but he's optimistic he can be a successful worker one day in the future.
You and his friends know that he sometimes can be overworked but Max would often reassure them that he can handle all this and it'll be fine.
Sometimes when he's on a break, you went on to visit him in the ESU lab and be a regular there thanks to well, you being Max's girlfriend and Dr. Connors saying that you're always welcome here if you want to visit Max.
He usually brings food from home but if he forgot it, he'd of course text you so you can bring him food 😂
He'd absolutely would try to steal glances at you during class because well, you're simply irresistible in his eyes. You on the other hand would smile or wink at him if you caught him but he doesn't care. guys give Max a chance, he just wants to love someone bc he never got the love he should've gotten as a child.

The two of you might not be one of the popular guys out there but you and him are almost inseparable ever since high school💖
When he's not working or studying, his favorite thing to do is to slack off on the couch, with his head on your lap
HERE COMES THE BEST PART
YOU RUNNING YOUR FINGER THROUGH HIS HAIR. HE LOOOVES THE FEELING OF IT AND ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU LIGHTLY RUFFLE IT AAAAAA-
If you ruffle it too much, don't even try because it'll absolutely end up with playful fights
Aaaand when both of you were exhausted from it, that's when the DVD player and snacks come in <33
It's pretty clear that Max's love language is quality time and touch as he cherishes you with his heart and he wants the best for you so he tries his best to make moments with you memorable.
So that it'll be useful in the future because reminiscing about the lovely memories he's made with you gives him so much comfort
Especially during late night talks after doing your assignments and all, as a break from all the college work and stress
"Remember when I caught you singing out loud to 'I Want It That Way' in the shower?"
"Then why didn't you knock the door or something, Y/N?"
"But you're singing loud so I know you're in the bathroom, you doofus."
Music being played on the CD player isn't an uncommon sight at all and he'd often listen to his favorite artists while doing his college assignments. (Side note, yes, this is what I always do irl)
Occasionally you'd sing along with him and just have fun doing a makeshift karaoke time 🤣
That is if you inadvertently forgot to do it because of being too carried away
"WAIT IT'S 8 PM ALREADY?! FUCK, THE DEADLINE'S TOMORROW MORNING-"
You stealing his jackets as you find them comfy and he doesn't mind you barely returning it unless it's his favorite.
"Come on, Y/N, that's my favorite."
And then you'll tease him by sticking your tongue out and pulling the jacket closer to your body
Waking up to little kisses on your neck courtesy of him
After becoming Electro, things are a little harder for him because he's not normal anymore, having to constantly generate electricity from his body to the point of him having to always wearing a specially designed suit meant to prevent him accidentally shocking others by physical contact.
That includes the mask he often had on when not in supervillain mode - making him unable to kiss you anymore.
This definitely made Max upset as he now can't touch you directly without shocking you or risking your life as you're a normal human being with no resistance to electricity
Which means no more direct touches or kisses, and yes, he can still hug you but ofc he had to wear the suit
Max was so nervous to see you again because he was afraid you'll be scared of him for life as thanks to him becoming a villain, and you possibly not being able to see him in the same light as you used to because he's very likely to be stuck in this glowing yellow form he started to dislike
While he had company in the form of the Sinister Six during his short lived time as a supervillain, deep down he began to feel lonely because he's sure he lost all of his old friends back in college and high school from them possibly finding out he's now Electro and avoiding him due to the fact he's a villain.
Max saw himself as a monster, but you looked right past it and know for sure deep down he's still a vulnerable man with feelings
And that made him fall in love with you more because you still accepted him
Heck, he slowly but surely grew less disgusted of his "Electro form" the more time he spent with you after the accident and Dr. Connors assured him that he'll get a cure for his condition
You eventually get used to Max constantly being in that suit to the point of you not minding him snuggling behind you with the mask on
It's a habit that he somewhat carried on from before the accident because he loves to hold you when you two sleep, usually from behind while he buries his face in your neck

Whether he's Electro or not
Ok but I feel like this most likely happens after he became Electro because he needs some reassuring 🥺
With the mask on, of course
This one might get the two of you in trouble but imagine him becoming your walking lamp/nightlight by removing the mask, but this is a rare occurrence because of the fact you're the supervillain Electro's civilian girlfriend
He might be literally glowing but you still see the same old soft Max you know so you don't care at all

I don’t like big celebrations.” He huffed through his nose, a worried smile on his lips. “Please, my dear.” A beat passed before he softly grasped your hand in his own. “I’d rather just us spend the evening together.” He pleaded, a quiet look in his eye. “Otto, you look so tired.” You sighed after a moment, leaning yourself into him and allowing him to wrap all six arms around you. “I told you to go easy on yourself today, sweetheart. It’s your birthday.” But Otto only smiled with closed eyes and shook his head. “I’ll rest when I’m dead.” A soft smile pecked at your lips, and you cupped his lower back in your hands.
“Otto, I love you. Have I ever told you that?” And in response, the doctor shied away with a grin and rosy cheeks. “More times than I believe I’ve warranted.” He leaned his head down and placed a soft kiss to your forehead. “Happy birthday, my love.” You told him quietly, softly moving your hands up and down his back. “You make all my days happy.” He responded, laying his chin on your head. You moved to lay your head lax against his chest. The two of you kept that way for some time, rocking back and forth ever so slightly, listening to the whirring of his actuators.
