It was now lunch time, and Eddie still couldnât get the fact that his crush, Y/N L/N had gotten him a Valentine gram. He couldnât believe it! Yet, here he was at the Hellfire Table, staring at you from across the cafeteria, card in his hands. To be honest, Iâm not even sure if he was blinking.
The rest of the table took notice to Eddieâs unusual behaviour. Eddie was just sitting there, not saying anything. Usually around this time heâd either be discussing the next campaign, or heâd be all riled up and walking on tables and yelling at the other cliques of the school. But this time, no. Heâs just sitting there, not even moving. They couldnât even tell if he was breathing. Hell, he probably wasnât due to the state of shock he was in.
âHey, uh Eddie?â Dustin says, trying to get Eddieâs attention. âHelloooo?â He repeats, waving his hand over Eddieâs face. âEddie!â Dustin snaps his fingers in front of the distracted boy.
Eddie snaps up, staring at Dustin, and slaps his fists on the table. âWhat Henderson?!â Dustin flinched in fear. I mean, it wasnât uncommon for Eddie to yell at the three freshman. Just this time, Eddie had a look on his face. Almost like Dustin had interrupted him from something important. Well, to Eddie it was important. It was you. To him, you were the most important thing in his life at this very moment.
âItâs just uh well uh,â Dustin stammers. Scared of pushing Eddieâs buttons any further. âWell, you uh havenât brought up the next campaign or uh yelled at the basketball team? Lunch started like ten minutes ago and you havenât said anything.â
Eddie sighs and calms down a bit. His fists and face softens, and Eddie relaxes his shoulders. âYeah, just uh Iâve been distracted. Thatâs all.â
âDistracted by what?â Lucas asks.
âJust uh,â Eddieâs eyes divert from the young boy and look in your direction. âSome things.â
âWhatâs that?â Dustin wonders, before taking a bite of his lunch.
âWhatâs what?â
âThe paper,â Dustin says with a mouth full of food, before swallowing. âWhatâs the paper in your hands?â
âOh, itâs uh,â Eddie panics, trying to figure out what to reply. He didnât want to tell the group about his crush on Y/N. I mean, Eddie was supposed to hate her group of friends. The way Jason and the rest of the popular kids treated them? No way Eddie could find himself mixing with that crowd. âItâs nothing important.â Eddie slowly tries to hide the paper by shoving it into his leather jacket, but Jeff grabbed it from his hands before he could hide it.
âNo way. Dude! You got a Valentine gram from Y/N L/N?! Cheerleader Y/N L/N?!â Jeff says while standing up from his seat. The rest of the table look at Eddie and start yapping away. Strings of âNo wayâ, âAre you sure itâs really from her?â or âWhat did you say?â were heard.
Eddie grabs the card from Jeffâs hands before putting it into his pocket. âShut up!â Eddie yells. He looks up and sees you looking at him. Probably because his voice caught your attention. He smiles at you shyly then looks away to speak to the table. âOkay, yes I got a gram from Y/N and yes, it really was from her, and no, I have not said anything to her about it because I have no idea what to say.â Eddie mumbles the last part but it was loud enough for them to hear. He looks back up to find you gone from your lunch table, along with all your stuff.
âMaybe you could start with a thank you,â Eddie hears a voice from behind him. There you are, standing to his left in all your glory. âMind if I sit here?â You ask, nodding towards the empty chair, conveniently next to Eddie.
âYes!â Eddie yells without thinking. You look at him a bit confused at what he means. âI MEAN no! I mea- yes you may sit here, no I do not mind.â
You chuckle lightly, then take your seat next to Eddie. Thereâs a few seconds of awkward silence between you, Eddie, and the rest of the table. But, it was immediately interpreted buy Dustin reaching his hand out towards you to introduce himself. âHi! Iâm Dustin!â
âOh! Hi Dustin, Iâm Y/Nâ
âYeah, I know.â Dustin smiles. âSo, you and Eddie areâŠfriends?â
âUmm, I guess you could say thatâ
âI didnât think Eddie had other friends.â Mike comments. âLet alone, girl friends.â Eddie kicks him under the table, earning an âow!â from Mike.
âHaha Iâm sorry about him,â Eddie laughs nervously. âHe doesnât know what heâs saying.â
âAww itâs ok,â Y/N reassures. âBesides I came here to talk to you, no offenceâ You say the last part towards Dustin, Mike, and the rest of the table.
âY-you w-wanted to t-talk to me?â Eddie stutters.
âYeah, I mean wasnât it obvious? I sent you that Valentine gram, and I say hi to you like everyday.â
âYeah. No youâre right-â Eddie looks away from Y/N and sees the table staring at them as they have their conversation then quickly look away. âUhh do you want to talk somewhere more private?â
âSure!â Y/N stands up from her seat, so does Eddie. The two leave the cafeteria as Eddie leads her to the Theatre room aka the Hellfire room. âWoah.â Y/N finds herself looking around the room. Taking it all in. She walks towards the table in the middle of the room, and sees all the little figurines used in the last campaign. âDid you paint these?â Eddie looks at her and nods. She picks up each piece one by one, admiring the little details.
Eddie is just watching her in aww. Heâs never seen someone, let alone one of the âpopularâ crowd even slightly interested in DND. Eddie walks towards the table, standing to the right of Y/N. âSo uhhh, I just wanted to say thank you. Yâknow for the gram. Iâve never got one before.â
âOh yeah, I mean itâs no biggie. I just thought I would do something nice for you.â You set down the figure you had in your hand on the table, and look at him. Heâs nervously looking down, fidgeting with the rings on his fingers.
âWhy me?â He looks up and make eye contact with you.
âWhat?â
âOut of all the people you couldâve given a gram to, you decided to give one to me. Why?â
You chuckle lightly before saying, âYouâre really gonna make me say it?â Eddie looks at you confused. âEddie, I like you.â
Here we go again, Eddieâs eyes were bulging out of his face for the second time today. âYou like me?â
âYeah, I mean I thought I was being kinda obvious.â
Eddie was never really good at reading others emotions. That, and he never thought that a girl like you would ever want him. So I guess he never really thought you liked him back.
âWait, this isnât a joke right?â
âNo! Why would it be joke?â
âWell cuz youâre you. Youâre popular and pretty and shit,â Eddie gestures to you. âAnd IâmâŠme. Iâm a freakâ Eddie looks down. It seems like he does that a lot with you.
âEddie,â You take his hand into yours and tilt his chin up with your other hand so that heâs making eye contact with you. âYou are probably one of the coolest people Iâve ever met. Youâre not afraid to be yourself despite what everyone else thinks. Yeah, you are a freak. But, thatâs what I like about you.â
Eddie looks at you with a smile on his face. You two stay like that for a while. Just holding hands, looking into each otherâs eyes, smiling. âI like you too.â
âYeah?â
âYeahâ
âGood.â You wrap your arms around Eddieâs neck and lean in and kiss him. Eddieâs hands grab your hips, at first gently, not sure if his placement was okay. But as he slowly melted into the kiss, his grip got tighter, and he was pulling you closer. Eddie pulls back from the kiss with a smirk on his face.
âSo,â He starts. âAre you busy tonight?â Eddie says trying his best to sound seductive, causing you to laugh.
âDepends, Munson.â
âOn?â Eddie questions.
âWhat are we doing tonight?â

Feb 14 1986. Valentineâs Day. To couples, it was the best day of the year.
To Eddie Munson, it was the most dreadful day of the year. Not only is it because thereâs couples at every corner of the school eating at each otherâs faces 24/7, but also because of the cliche high school Valentine grams. To some people it might be a way to show your love for each other, to others it might just be a bag of candy and a meaningless card, but here at Hawkins High, it was a popularity contest. The more grams you got, the more popular you were. And every year, itâs seems that everyone got at least one. Everyone except for Eddie.
Itâs not like he cared anyway. I mean it was just some stupid high school cliche. Thatâs what he would tell himself at least. But deep down inside of him, he secretly wished that there was at least one person in this school that cared enough to spend a dollar on him. And he secretly wished it was you.
Y/N L/N. Co-captain of the cheer team, Chrissy Cunninghamâs best friend, and one of the most popular girls in school. Girls wanted to be her, and guys wanted to be with her. Guys including Eddie Munson. ïżŒ
He didnât want to admit it but he was obsessed with you. But not in the same way as everyone else. Other guys looked at you and all they could see was a hot girl, single, and their next hook up. To Eddie, yeah you were the most beautiful girl in the world, but you were more than just a pretty face. You were smart, and treated everyone with kindness. You treated Eddie with kindness. Eddie couldnât help but think about you almost every moment of the day. Most days he would think about what it would be like to hold you, kiss you, and tell you how much he cares about you, and some days, he would think about the day he had been wishing for since the day he saw you. The day that he would finally get the courage to talk to you. And today was one of those days.
As Eddie walked in to the classroom, late of course, black lunchbox in hand filled with you know what, headphones on blasting âI Was Made For Lovinâ Youâ by Kiss. He listened to this song every morning before school ever since he heard you humming it during class. As he walked into the class, his heart started beating faster in chest. He caught a glimpse of you across the room, listening to whatever the girl behind you was telling you. He looked around the room, looking for an empty seat, and low and behold. The only empty seat, was right next to you. Looks like cupid was on his side today.
As he approached the seat, you looked up at him and smiled. âHi Eddie!â you cheered, as he took his seat. The way you looked at him, the way you said his name, Eddie for sure thought that he would pass out right then and there.
âHiâ he said shyly. You smiled at him once again, before facing the front of the class as Mrs. OâDonnell took attendance, then continued on with the lesson. Eddie tried to pay attention, he really did. He was so close to a D in this class which meant that he was so close to graduating, but he couldnât help but stare at you. He started noticing the little things you did. The way you would glance between you paper and the board while taking notes, the way your brows furrowed when you didnât understand something, the way you would lean against the desk when you found something intriguing, and the way you would bite on your lip when answering the problems on the board. He noticed it all.
He continued to stare at you for the rest of the class hour, then was snapped out of his day dream. Chrissy Cunningham walked in with a bag of Valentine grams on her shoulder for the last 5 minutes of class. As she started calling out names and handing out the little goodie bags, Eddie couldnât help but lean his chin on his hand. Waiting for this to be over. Chrissy called out your name, and handed you what looked like about 10 grams. Eddie wished that he had gotten you one. He thought it was stupid, but he saw the way your eyes lit up as Chrissy handed you the bags. He wished that he couldâve been the reason for that.
As Chrissy was near the end of her list, Eddie officially zoned out. Staring down at fingers tapping on the desk.
âEddie Munsonâ Chrissy called out. Eddie was too caught up in his own mind that he didnât hear his name get called. âEddie Munson?â Chrissy called out again. Eddieâs head shot up. The room went silent. Who wouldâve sent the freak a Valentine gram?
Eddie raised his hand, before Chrissy came over to his desk. She handed him the bag and smirked at you for a quick moment before leaving the room. Eddie hadnât even noticed the interaction the two of you had, he was too focused on the brown paper bag with his name in cursive on it. As OâDonnell wrapped up her lesson, and told everyone the homework for the weekend, Eddie was opening his bag. He saw the different types of heart-shaped chocolates and candies, and pulled out the red envelope. He ripped it open, read the card, and he couldnât believe what he was reading.
Happy Valentineâs Day Eddie! Hope this makes your day <3 - Y/N
At this point, Eddieâs eyes were bulging out of the sockets. He couldnât believe that the one girl that he wanted a gram from, actually got him one.
He nervously turns his head to the left to look at you, and sees you stand up, putting your bag on your shoulder. He looks at you with his mouth slightly open. You reach your hand out towards his chin, and close his mouth, causing his eyes to bulge out more if thatâs even possible. You smile at him, then leave for second period.
Eddie, just sits there. Not really sure what to do next.
