Rome or Carnivale. I’ve never really forgiven HBO.
And Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance! How dare Netflix give so much to Henson fans only to rip it away?! And no I don’t care about COVID or the fire, they will forever have my enmity!
Also I’m mad there won’t at least be a Shantaram season 2, but that’s only because I want more Alexander Siddig.

Is this where we see the Khan Noonien Singh waiting in the wings?
And then Sloan realizes the monster he’s created and now has to stop.
And how would that leave re-formed Julian at the end of it all?
Two Sloan ideas based on TOS's "The Enemy Within"
Sloan gets split into an interlinked "good half" and "evil half." The evil half hates the good half. This is almost exactly the concept you've floated before.
Sloan contrives to send Julian through the transporter so that he can recruit the "evil half" into Section 31. But because the evil half can't survive without the good half, Sloan has to take the good half captive.
In the end, they get reverse-Tuvixed.
Yessssssss!!!!!! Both these ideas are amazing! The second one makes me wonder what a split Julian would be like.
I imagine the 'evil' half would get Julian's arrogance, vanity, and god complex. All of this is, of course, taken to the extreme and untempered by his 'good' qualities. This Julian knows what's best for everyone and acts accordingly, without and/or against the wills of others. He looks down on the un-augmented, seeing them like clumsy children. Like Kirk's evil half, he might also be sexually aggressive.
'Good' Julian is people pleasing. He tries to do whatever will make others happy to his own detriment, tries to see the best in everyone, and is overly forgiving. He is easily manipulated by self-doubt and displays of emotion from others. He's a rule follower, and he won't toe the line.
I imagine Sloan would take to this 'good' Julian for a time. He would like how easy it is to bend him to his will. It wouldn't take long for him to get bored though. 'Good' Julian lacks the dignity and moral iron core that is what drew him in in the first place.

My friends, you know what to do.
Inspired by @hotvintagepoll, here's another bracket featuring some hot vintage actors- but instead of being about actors from a particular medium, this one's about actors associated with a particular genre:
The Hottest Vintage Sci Fi/Fantasy Actors Bracket!
I'll be starting with a men's bracket.
Submissions for the men's bracket are open! You can submit in the google form below. Submissions will be open until May 5th (unless I need to extend them or close them early because I'm getting too few/too many submissions, but I'll try to give a good heads up if the deadline changes). Rules for who is eligible are under this form.
What makes an actor eligible for this tournament?
In order to keep this tournament on-theme and not have it turn into a free-for-all vintage actors tournament, all actors submitted should have some kind of strong connection to Sci-Fi and/or Fantasy media. This might mean that they're an actor who has appeared frequently in various Sci Fi/Fantasy works, or that their most well-known role is from something that's Sci-Fi/Fantasy. Actors who aren't necessarily exclusively or primarily thought of as Sci-Fi/Fantasy actors are allowed, provided that they have at least one Sci-Fi/Fantasy work that is considered an iconic role for them. You are free to submit actors you aren't sure count! I'd rather have more submissions than less. Just keep in mind that its possible some people may be cut if it doesn't feel like they really fit the tournament.
(Also, as a side note: horror movies with some kind of fantastical/sci fi element also count for this tournament!)
Other rules for submissions & propaganda:
You can submit actors who appeared in work from as early as 1900 to as late as 2000 (so pretty much it has to be 20th century). That way we can cover a range of classic sci fi/fantasy, from some of the earliest SF/Fantasy films to some of the cult classic works of the 80s and 90s.
You can submit actors and propaganda from both movies and television! It just must be from or related to SF/Fantasy material.
Please only submit propaganda where the actor is at least 18! This also means if someone's only notable SF/Fantasy role(s) is from before they were 18, they are not eligible for this tournament (even if they continued to act generally as an adult)
Live action roles only; voice roles will not be counted for propaganda/eligibility
Actors who aren't considered primarily Sci-Fi/Fantasy actors must have at least one iconic SF/Fantasy role to qualify for the tournament; however, if they've had other lesser known SF/Fantasy roles as well, you are more than welcome to send in propaganda related to these roles, too!
I might put up an FAQ as well if I get a lot of similar questions/for things that need clarifying. In the mean time: submission deadline is May 5th- so send in your favorite hot sci-fi/fantasy men!

I would argue it depends. Turning on the radio in the car or listening to something on a random Spotify playlist doesn’t make you a hobbyist. But if you are actively seeking out and curating music, I think it does.
Ok I need to know tumblr’s opinion on this cuz it’s driving me crazy
Feel free to say why/why not in the tags!

The Cold War was over, we were daring to keep kids off drugs and reducing, reusing and recycling our way to a smaller hole in the ozone layer. We were like the dog who caught the car and didn’t know what to do with it, so we tried everything, from the depressingly dark to the WTF exuberant. Violence was OK for kids so long as you couldn’t see the blood.
The Taco Bell tacos were 69 cents each, your school could afford to do field trips to Disney’s Epcot, Beanie Babies were all the rage, and we didn’t know yet that the modern-day home run heroes were all on andro.
And Star Trek: Deep Space Nine was in its first run.
What a time to be alive.

Guys, I know they are both wonderful, but Bette Davis can’t go down! Please, she must survive to the next round!
Tumblr media
I know Bette, I know but you are a queen and queens don’t fall in Round 3!
Tumblr media
You guys need more reason to vote for Bette Davis?
Ok! These are from my favorite Bette movie, The Letter, with William Wyler, her favorite director (whom she had an affair with allegedly).
Bette plays the wife of a rubber tree plantation manager who is accused of murdering one of her husband’s workers in self-defense.
At least, that’s what she says.
Her last line in that movie is iconic!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then there are her two turns as Queen Elizabeth I where she shaved back her hair to play the Bess. She is one of the best Bess’ ever put on screen.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Or basically any batshit role from the 50s or 60s .
I mean forget her ingenue roles, forget her powerhouse roles of the 40s. Bette could do woman having a mental break like no other.

Propaganda
Bette Davis (All About Eve, Now Voyager, Jezebel)—She is a bitch and I like her so much. Also: unf. She does it all: rage, vulnerability, romantic passion, hauteur that invites beholders to say "step on me" under their breath. Her work in the 1930s, from melodramas to romantic comedies, is excellent, but I've mentioned 1940s films above because I feel that she really was at her best once the studio allowed her star image to get edgier. Also her decades-long platonic friendships with male co-stars (e.g. Paul Henreid, Claude Rains) are very important to me. Anyway: bow down before Bette Davis, HBIC.
Gloria Swanson (Don't Change Your Husband, Queen Kelly, Sadie Thompson, Sunset Boulevard)—the absolute BALLS this woman had! an icon of the 1920s, her career had simmered down, decent living in radio, deciding you know what? you know what i'll do? I'll star as the haggard old aging decrepit horror icon in Sunset Boulevard, that's what I'll do. Nobody else in Hollywood would take the part (every other actress didn't want to be framed as a has-been)—gloria said, fuck that, I'll eat this role alive and serve cunt the whole time. she was still so gorgeous when they made Sunset Boulevard they had to intentionally make her up/costume her to make her look older than she was. mad respect for the screen legend who says yeah, i am a screen legend, i was always that bitch and here I am again to prove it
This is round 3 of the tournament. All other polls in this bracket can be found here. Please reblog with further support of your beloved hot sexy vintage woman.
[additional propaganda submitted under the cut.]
Bette Davis:

"The absolute GOAT of vintage cinema. An icon. Her EYES. Any time you see Bette on screen you know she's about to steal the spotlight. Her range is incredible, she can play coy, shy, mischevious, innocent, evil, hideous, beautiful, cunning, and wise all with the same self assurance and talent. I live in awe of her ability. And, of course, she's gorgeous. I think she peaked in 1950 with "All About Eve", at the age of 42- she was in full control of her craft, she's a milf, and her scratchy voice makes me nervous in a good way."

She was THE idea of a 1920s sex comedy star, and was a hot (and totally unhinged) older woman in Sunset Boulevard. Hot as a young woman and as an older woman? Yes plz

I feel like she would slay in alternative fashion

Anytime I hear talk of revolution from keyboard warriors I have to wonder if they even understand the true cost of revolution. The bloody cost in terms of human lives. The years, in some cases decades, of instability. How in some cases to even get your ideological revolution you have to compromise the very values you claim spawned the action. And at the end of the day how it can all fall apart.
How long did it really take before France was a republic? And how long did the Republic last in Russia before the Bolsheviks took over? The Russian Revolution was not one glorious switch from the Romanovs to Lenin. Millions died.
I know, the tree of liberty has to occasionally be watered by the blood of tyrants. But there has to be a way to do it without also mixing the blood of the innocent.
Why aren't you a revolutionary?
I live in the US, and there won't be a left-wing revolution here any time soon. There are no vanguard parties, no radicalized masses, no crisis of legitimacy for the current government, no infiltrated armed forces, no unifying figures. Conditions here could radically change, but for the next couple decades at least, talking about leftist revolution in the US is a little like basing your politics around the immediate formation of a world government or the complete abolition of nation states.
As an extension of the previous, if you live in a somewhat-functional democracy like the US, it seems a lot easier to just... win an election. There are certainly barriers to leftists winning elections beyond unpopularity, but there are a hell of a lot more barriers to winning a revolution. It's a lie to pretend the playing field is equal under liberal democracy, but it's delusional to think that the playing field for armed struggle isn't massively more unequal.
I think I would be kinda sympathetic (though still not convinced of anything, see 1 and 2) if the logic of most US leftist revolutionaries was something along the lines of "the US has rotten, stagnant institutions that limit the ability of truly democratic sentiment to express itself and wield power, and I want to clear away the cruft" but instead it's typically something along the lines of "well I would like to do the cultural revolution here but I can't do that no matter how many elections I win." It would help the case of revolutionaries if they were not apologists for the worst excesses of prior revolutions.

This list is rough. I can make a case for 6 of these 10 films being my personal favorite. Ow. In the end I went with My Fair Lady because I loved it so much growing up. It ignited my adorations for Hepburn and Harrison. But I could make a case for so many others.
Of the answer nowadays outside this list would be Sweeney Todd. That’s what growing up in this cruel world does to you.
Note: this list references the 1961 version of West Side Story and the 1954 version of A Star Is Born.

Not only is The Intendant an unreliable narrator, she was telling Kira the TL;DR version.
I like the idea of civil war, it’s much less complicated than my thoughts.
Basically: the empire grew its territory through subjugation (as opposed to the Federation’s alliances). So if it were to de-prioritize its military in favor of new reforms, it would probably end up losing planets and territories without much of a fight because those planets would be all “bye Felicia” the minute they had a chance, which might mean fewer resources like dilithium crystals.
This may have meant less defense development, and with a formidable Klingon/Cardassian military, it could have been overpowered over time.
Look I love Crossover
But the in-universe explanation of how the Klingons took over is just...
"Blind pacifism bad!" Well yeah. But Kirk wasn't preaching blind pacifism, he was saying that tyranny is illogical.
Surely pacifism ought to mean ensuring that others get to have peace, not just laying down arms and sitting back? And this is Spock we're talking about. It hardly seems logical to put so much work into improving your people's lives only to leave them defenceless against those who don't appreciate the message of peace and freedom.
I'm sorry, that particular bit of backstory feels like an insult to everything Kirk, Spock, and TOS stand for.

Julian is in such a state of shock, he completely blacked out. He doesn’t remember a thing.
It wasn’t until later when he was washing the blood off his hands that he even knew Sloan was dead.
Concept: Sloan destroys Kukalaka, either as an attempt to make Julian 'grow up' or in order to torment him. It backfires spectacularly.

This is interesting! Aside from Doctor Who Lego has only done American TV series. Would they do a set for a British series if there’s also an American version? Rather than the U.S. one?
Tumblr media
Potential Ghosts LEGO Set??? But they need your help!!
SJ’s Workshop is a small fundraiser ran by a young individual who is trying to get an official BBC Ghosts LEGO Series made!
Now this is where you come in all you need to do is create a LEGO account or log into an existing one and support the origination. No money required just your support!
He needs your help in getting to the next round of voting in order for this to become a reality.
This needs 10,000 votes and is only at the moment 549 supporters away from 1,000
If you can please help him in doing this
Ben (The Captain in Ghosts) has retweeted the campaign on Twitter to push the word out
The link to become a supporter is below it costs nothing but five minutes of your time!
Thank you 🤍👻

It’s nice to see I’m not the only one who thinks JJ Abrams deserves blame for the Star Wars sequels, and it wasn’t all Kathleen Kennedy with help from her minion Rian Johnson.
JJ Abrams showing naked disdain for Star Trek, and openly stating he really was only doing them in the hopes of getting to make Star Wars one day, only to get his chance to make Star Wars & making it even worse, so bad he killed off Disney's scheme to release a new Star War every year into eternity...truly iconic
