“i’m not scared! you are.”

that was tohma, three minutes into wuwang hill.

he’d decided to use his time off to visit mondstadt, and visit liyue while he was at it. you went along with him on ayaka’s behalf, because she couldn’t join, and also because you’d been outside inazuma before.

“i told you we didn’t have to come here.”

“i said i’m not scared!”

you rolled your eyes, breaking a twig above you with your fingers. tohma shouted in surprise, almost jumping on you. he grinned sheepishly when he realized what you’d done.

“so much for not scared.”

“look, this place is slightly creepy, okay? only slightly! and i’m not scared, i’m your knight in shining armor!” he looked at you triumphantly, and you just shook your head.

“alright then, sir tohma,” you stopped walking, grabbing his hand. “let’s see how well you fare in a domain, not too far from here.”

“a what?”

you smiled, almost challenging him. a part of you felt cruel for toying with the poor man, but the other part was having fun.

“a domain! legends say it’s haunted too- i have a friend who comes here often, she talks with the ghosts sometimes.”

“there are ghosts in inazuma too,” tohma said, mostly to himself.

you laughed, pulling him further into the woods. “let’s have some fun, then.”

omg cal hi- it is i, kai <3 is this kinda long?? idk i haven’t written anything in. a while, to say the least

|| mild swearing

to nobody’s surprise but yours, the haunted house was scary.

it was renowned for the fact that it was, unlike most, genuinely frightening, but you’d dismissed the warnings people gave you with a, “it’s just people dressed in costumes jumping out at us, it can’t be that bad.”

apparently, it could.

you had flinched when they’d slammed the door shut behind you, leaving you, diluc, and the other pair of people coming in with you in the dark, but not wanting to look cowardly in front of your friend after talking so much about your bravery, you’d kept your mouth shut. after the other two people had disappeared without so much as a sound, though, you were more openly uneasy.

“they’re probably also part of the haunted house,” diluc said. you agreed, but that didn’t stop you from edging a bit closer to your friend.

suddenly, the dim lighting in the hallway became harsh and red, making you blink. “damn, that’s kinda bri- whAT THE FUCK-”

as you’d turned back to face the source of the light, you looked up, suddenly finding yourself locking eyes with one of the people from earlier. they were now sporting several blood stains and also a literal axe, aimed directly at your head.

diluc instinctively wrapped an arm around you, pulling you into a duck with him before you both set off sprinting. as soon as you turned the corner, the door slammed behind you on your own, and you took a moment to catch your breath.

“y/n, are you alright? you aren’t hurt?” diluc did a cursory inspection, and you let out a breathy laugh.

“nah, of course not. just shaken, i guess. probably a good thing, though. that’s the most exercise i’ve had this month.”

the corner of diluc’s mouth tugged up. he rummaged around in his pocket, pulling out what you recognised to be a chocolate bar you’d both gotten while trick-or-treating. “here, have this. it’s your favourite, right?”

you took it gratefully, turning it around in your hands for a moment. “oh yeah, thanks. you want any?”

“no, it’s fine. though, if you’re scared,” he turned to look at you, a rare teasing glint in his eye.

“i’ll be right here to protect you.”
