Girls autism culture is getting a school evaluation and then not being identified as autistic because you missed the communication category because statistically we mask all the time without even realizing it and the evaluation system still isn't up to date

Low support needs autistic culture is not being believed when you say you lose control of yourself during meltdowns, and if you insist on it people accuse you of lying and punish you or say you have "severe autism" and start treating you like you're fucking five.
(Actually I'm not sure if this is just a low support needs thing or not, please correct me.)

I can’t believe how accurate this is. I’ve had a rock collection since I was a kid, and I’m still collecting them to this day.
Do any of you relate to this? If so, what do you like to collect? It can be plushies, toys, whatever. :)

this is my little place to vent,
I had my sister in law and her kids come and stay, and there is always a lot of little digs that annoy me, like saying what way people should parent etc , but it doesn’t apply to us as my kids are neurodivergent, this isn’t her understanding neurodivergence, she’s actually quite ignorant and hasn’t got a clue,
So one of the main things that bug me is my theory on life is let kids explore their fashion hair color etc so my daughters coming 12 has her hair dyed black as it’s what she wanted I was hesitant to start with, but I had a chat with myself and the main reason was other peoples opinions on it, so cut a long story short we all went to the park now hence this is the second day in so she must have been busting to say something and held back, so we are walking back she says I can’t believe you dyed her hair, I said why? , her reply she’s only 11, I replied well it’s only hair , she then proceeded to say that’s the hairdresser frame of mind , as I’m a hairdresser , no it’s not it’s letting my child accept herself let her explore who she is, comments like this have made me mask all my life and I’m certainly not gonna let my daughter hide anymore than she already has,
but now that’s out there on the universe lol I just wish people could keep their mouths shut and worry about their own lives , I just feel as a neurodivergent family it’s constant judgement for the way we do things etc and she would never do these things , but we’re neurodivergent so she says it like we are broken , and she paints the picture perfect family which is far from the truth , it saddens me I feels better now hope everyone on tumblr or anyone out there can relate please share your pet hates with me ❤️
ps am I being super sensitive? How would you take this ? Let me know your thoughts

Autism acceptance includes accepting all autistic manners of communication.
That means supporting autistic people who talk in a "very childish" way. (I do this a lot irl)
Autistic people who do "TV talking" (this means talking like a character from your favorite media, basically talking in quotes and copying their speech patterns,as far as I know)
Autistic people who use echolia.
Autistic people who are very awkward/quirky when they communicate.
Autistic people who are overly technical,or have very sophisticated and articulate speech.
Autistic people who mumble.
Autistic people who talk really fast.
Autistic people who can't control their tone of voice/inflection.
Autistic people who talk in a monotone voice.
Autistic people who use different kind of sounds,or body language to communicate.
Autistic people who talk slowly and draw out their syllables.
Autistic people who use a lot of sentance fillers.
Autistic people who use Aac devices, communication cards, etc etc.
Edit: acceptance of nonverbal autistics is also necessary. Nonverbal people deserve love, respect, acceptance, accommodation and support.

ok i really need everyone to be honest rn; is it not common to be able to hear when the tv's on? or like, the fridge? are those appliances silent to everyone else???
i've always been able to hear when people pull into our driveway before my family can, but i also have said the fridge was out AND BEEN RIGHT when my family didn't know. when my dad asked, i told him the high pitched shriek stopped, and he was like ".....?"
i saw a tiktok today that said that most people can't hear that noise, and that autistic people are some of the people who can. i was like "no. wait. ?????". so then i turned off the new tv i have which has a MUCH louder shriek and i relaxed. my dad came in and was like "is that a melodramatic sigh?" and i had to explain my tv's pitch is so much louder than the living room tv's pitch, and i was still adjusting. he just stared at me like ":|" for a few seconds then left.

Tough day
Ive wrote a long version of this but I decided that I'm just going to share snippets of my write as I'm aware it can be long and drawn out lol
my brain takes longer to process information and cut a long story short it takes me all day to process it il go over and over trying to resolve this battling with the two parts of my brain lol. days like this I feel like my coping skills are in a little boat somewhere in the middle of the ocean traveling to see jack and rose from titanic , ill Never let go jack ill never let go, but rose would need to let go and give me back my coping skills as I need them lol

if you say you support self-diagnosed autistic people, you have to support them from the beginning to end, not just when they have a binder full of extensive research and are 80% closer to being diagnosed
if anything, the part where i think people need the most support is when they start questioning. because so often people go to other autistics for help and get brushed off due to the intense stigma around self-diagnosing which makes them even more likely to just give up on the whole thing
on top of that, a lot of people dont have access to either the internet or credible sources on autism that can help them learn more. that’s why a more accepting community could be so beneficial, because so often we’re the only ones they got on their side, not only to relate to but to just be heard

no school today
My son didn’t make it to school today he cannot let go of this friend situation that’s happening in the street and not in school . So instead we went and helped daddy at work and he grafted Alday and got to chill out in a hammock from a tree. We don’t always get it right as parents but we try our best as I fell into the rabbit hole of saying right you can choose school or the garden daddy works at (says he hates this garden so I thought he would choose school ) that was silly off me as I tried to back track and it was to late 😂 but we had a great time and hopefully tomorrows a better day for him if he makes it he makes it not theres more to life.
We have took this relaxed approach as parents as we have forced my daughter as we felt we had no choice and choice is what my children need. She’s now homeschooled but won’t engage with anyone outside of the house hold and wants to rent to school now she’s heading for senior school I cannot get my head around this I would love to home school the both of them but she’s heading back there’s a whole different world of home education and I want everyone to know school isn’t the only way but it makes me sad she won’t engage with it . And I think going back to school is solely to make friends .
anyway hope everyone’s keeping well

Hey. Hey you. The person aimlessly scrolling, stuck in an immobilized standoff with your brain
It's not your fault. You won't be stuck forever. I know you're trying. I know you hate it. It's ok.
And tell the Mean Voice in your head that it's not helping. It knows as well as you do that you would get up and Just Start the task if you could. You're not doing this on purpose.
Take a deep breath. Relax your jaw. I see you trying so hard to break out of it, but you can't force it. You'll get Unstuck eventually. All you can do in the interim is be kind to yourself.
