I know Adrien wouldn't willingly work with his father - with Hawkmoth / Shadowmoth / Monarch / whatever-the-fuck - but that little "what-if " is filled with so much potential and angst, and I love it every time I see it.

Me rising from the grave after the season 5 finale released:
Literally to me it's not even a matter of "I hope Adrien will learn everything next season🤞." It literally does just feel entirely obvious that he will. It feels very obvious to me that this finale is the (much-needed!!!) calm before another storm.

I really need to start checking which blog I’m on
ML Season 5 Finale
It’s the show’s pattern that at the end of the season Marinette makes a mistake and must face the repercussions in the next season. She forgot to change back when meeting with Master Fu and she lost her mentor, and she had to deal with new responsibilities as a guardian with hardly any experience. She mistook Felix for Adrien and she lost the Miraculouses. What mistake has she made now?
She fought alone when she said that they should fight together when she was hiding in the kitchen. But what was she supposed to do? Although I totally understand that it would be great for Adrien to fight his own father, it’s already been established that when Adrien finds out his father is the villain in dramatic circumstances, it doesn’t end well. Adrien recognising his unstable state and giving up his powers was a sign of maturity. He also had the occasion to fight his father as Chat Noir and tell him off (S5 Representation). Of course it’s not nearly as satisfying as Gabriel knowing the truth about Chat Noir, but it’s also more in line with what the show has been telling us.
She trusted Gabriel. However, eventually it turned out OK. Gabriel was forced to listen to Emilie and chose to save Nathalie who died because of his actions. This wasn’t a selfless sacrifice, but it wasn’t a totally selfish action either. In that moment it was the best possible outcome, because he was dying anyway due to his own wrong choices.
Marinette lost the Butterfly Miraculous. I’d call it an accident, not a mistake, and you can’t really learn anything from an accident as opposed to mistake; but in the pessimistic variant this is her mistake and the consequence is Lila becoming a supervillain; Gabriel is “redeemed” and Adrien will never know the truth about his father.
Marinette lied about Gabriel dying a hero. I think that is the mistake that will have the greatest impact on season 6.
We can see signs that her mistake may have bad consequences in the future:
The scene with the shining, smirking statue (resembling Chloe’s statue) and Tomoe talking about continuing Gabriel’s legacy is rather disturbing. If it were Ms Bustier giving speech and the statue were less shiny and more serious, the scene would give less villanous impression. The statue is a clear, visible symbol of the lie.
During the kissing scene we can hear the main theme, but it’s a bit different, more worrisome and sad. If it’s a happy ending, why is the soundtrack not happier? Marinette and Adrien seem very happy, but there’s the lie between them.
Also during the kissing scene we can see white butterflies flying around. It may look hopeful, because the Monarch was defeated—but we also know that Nooroo is not free. That changes the idylic picture into something more sinister. Lila’s got a lot of information from Nathalie and the computer about Gabriel, the Monarch and Miraculouses. She may reveal it in a villanous way to harm Ladybug and everybody else. She may pretend to be a new hero and accuse Ladybug of cooperating with the Monarch. I hope we’ll be shown what Lila really wants and what she’s up to.
Adrien
Ladybug probably won’t tell Chat Noir about Monarch’s true identity to keep the secret safe. She may also convince Plagg not to say anything. Nathalie most likely will also stay silent not to reveal herself as the villanous Mayura. I think it will be Lila who will reveal that Gabriel was the villain. That will make Adrien realise that Nathalie and Ladybug haven’t told him the truth. He may feel betrayed, angry and resentful.
I hope we’ll see more angry Adrien. For a long time he tried to be a perfect son and in the last season he started to be more aggressive as Chat Noir. Learning to express more anger and frustration as Adrien, not as Chat Noir, would be much healthier than destroying the world with his superpowers. I hope that there won’t be too much Chat Blanc / Anti-Chat, because such plots aren’t really going anywhere, they only undermine Adrien’s ability to control himself and the future of Adrienette. In the last episodes Adrien grew up and managed to recognise that he shouldn’t transform in such an unstable state, so I hope he will continue to mature and be able to deal with terrible news without destroying everything. And if they’ll keep pushing the Chat Blanc narrative, then maybe Adrien shouldn’t be Chat Noir anymore, if he’s apparently that unstable, and maybe Gabriel was right all along, controlling his son so tightly.
Nonetheless I truly hope he will destroy that terrible statue.
Reveal?
I didn’t expect the reveal and I don’t think it’ll happen in season 6. Those few times we’ve already seen it, it turned bad, but maybe it can strengthen them with Gabriel gone, if they reveal themselves out of trust instead of it being forced by external circumstances or by Ladybug trying to control the situation.
The superheroes
Frankly speaking, I was sort of happy that at the beginning of season 5 Marinette had no additional Miraculouses and Ladybug and Chat Noir were again the only superheroes in Paris. I’m afraid that with so many superheroes season 6 will be rather chaotic.

Me sniffing the upcoming angst
Just remember that in every even season of Miraculous, there has been a Ladynoir conflict of some kind.
Season 2 had one because Ladybug was keeping the guardian and the knowledge of the Miraculous a secret. Season 4 had one because Ladybug was keeping secrets pertaining to her role as guardian and her confiding in Alya.
Season 6 is coming, and there just happens to be a whole lot of information that Ladybug is not sharing with Chat Noir…

I know right? I’m holding on STRONG for an angst arc Gripping onto that for DEAR LIFE
adrien going from “YOUR SON MUST FUCKING HATE YOU” to “oh how i wish i could be like him someday! :)” is easily the worst character arc to ever be
but hopefully there’s no way this isn’t just setting up a plot for s6 for adrien and the rest of paris to find out the truth and have there be an angst arc
but again it is… miraculous ladybug… so

We’re in for a long and (hopefully good) season 6, aren’t we?
Okay sooo let's get this straight. Marinette, along with others, withholding information from Adrien about HIS life is WRONG. The show knows this.
S2, Syren: Chat Noir is upset that Ladybug is keeping secrets from him (about Master Fu). This is resolved bc Chat Noir is granted an introduction with Master Fu.
S3, Chameleon: Adrien tells Lila he is happy to be her friend, on one condition, she doesn't lie to him.
S3, Backwarder: Marinette and her friends debate on how Marinette should interject herself between Adrien and Kagami. Someone suggests she disguise herself as a celebrity to woo Adrien, but the idea is shot down bc "Adrien hates lying"
S3, Puppeteer 2: Chat Noir tells Ladybug that the more important something is, is precisely more the reason you have to say it. No matter what.
S4, Lies: Adrien is personally very hurt and guilt ridden when Kagami accuses him of being untruthful.
S4, Rocketear: Adrien is upset that Ladybug allowed for Alya and Nino to know eachother's identity bc it contradicts everything she has told him thus far.
S4, Hack-San: Adrien is beyond angry and betrayed that Ladybug would lend her Miraculous to someone and not inform him on it before hand.
S4, Ephemeral: Adrien confesses how heavy of a weight his secret identity has been on him. As well as feeling like he has been dishonest with Ladybug.
S4, Kuro Neko: Adrien questions his identity and is unsure who his authentic self is. This causes him some distress until Plagg provides him with a satisfying answer. He is both Adrien and Chat Noir, therefore, he is not being inauthentic.
S4, Strikeback: Adrien is upset that Ladybug had kept Rena Furtive a secret from him. Ladybug realizes that, although she meant well, she had been keeping Chat Noir out of the loop and it was wrong. ** She realizes this with Chat Noir not Adrien.
S5, Jubilation: Both Ladybug and Chat Noir are upset after having lost their marriage and four children. Chat Noir is noticeably more enraged than Ladybug. He goes on to emphasize his contempt for having his feelings played with. He attempts to kill Darker Owl.
S5, Passion: Marinette asks Adrien if he is alright. He says that's he's fine, but then decides to tell Marinette the truth that he is worried about Natalie.
S5, Elation: Chat Noir feels wrong for kissing Marinette bc he knows who she is, but she doesn't know who he is. He feels that he is taking advantage of her unawareness (him being Adrien). It's dishonest.
S5, Emotion: Adrien tells Marinette that he couldn't tell her about the Diamond Dance bc his father had ordered him not to. This admission comes from Adrien without Marinette having to ask him.
S5, Revolution: Adrien is tormented with guilt about not telling Marinette about him moving to London. Although, last minute, Adrien is able to work up the courage to tell Marinette before Chloé could.
Miraculous: Rise of the Sphinx, the video game: Adrien's character bio in Marinette's scrapbook includes his likes and dislikes. His like...... Ladybug, of course. His dislike........ dishonesty. Marinette's bio in comparison states she dislikes, "bullies and liars". Which I think is a compelling difference. Adrien doesn't just dislike liars; he dislikes dishonesty.
Dishonesty is a much more broad and grey area than lying. It's why Adrien is uncomfortable with secret identities. It's why he feels uneasy about his own identity as Chat Noir. It's why he was so upset over Ladybug allowing Alya and Nino to know eachothers identities. Ladybug didn't lie to him, but she was being dishonest. It's also why he didn't feel comfortable pursuing a relationship with Marinette as Chat Noir because it would be dishonest. He recognized that he held information on her (as her classmate and friend) that she did not willingly give him. It would not only be unfair, but dishonest.
This characteristic of Adrien's isn't some fandom conceived trait. It's been a very prominent feature of who Adrien is as a person throughout the entire series. There has always been a very strong narrative regarding Adrien's dislike for secrets, lies, illusions, disingenuinity, dishonesty...
The finale was NOT the show justifying Gabriel's actions nor the lie Adrien was told about his father's role.
The way I see it is that because Adrien is the deuterogonist of the show his discovery of all these secrets can not be fully resolved in ONE season finale. Now that the Monarch situation has been dealt with. Now that the kwamis have been rescued. Now that Marinette is dating Adrien. There really isn't any other conflict our protagonist has other than the secret she is withholding from the boy she loves. The writers of Miraculous get a lot of undeserved flak in my opinion. I trust them, and I trust the direction of the story.
Ideally, I would hope this conclusion is meant to lead into an Adrien focused season 6. I would hope that ultimately Marinette will come forward and tell Adrien herself. However, I understand before we get there we're gonna need to marinate in this icky resolution for the sake of drama. It is a show after all, we're here to be entertained.

All of us when Adrien finds out about everything
i can't wait for ladybug to tell chat noir that gabriel agreste was monarch. i can't wait for adrien to learn that and to suffer with that knowledge. i can't wait for him to learn that his "heroic" dad killed himself hours before he would have died due to the cataclysm adrien himself inflicted on him. i can't wait for adrien to learn that he's a sentimonster that his father was controlling for years, and that his father terrorized paris, and that his nightmare was real, and that the woman he loves most, his kwami whom he trusts more than anyone- they both kept it secret from him

Shameless self-reblog to put my stuff out there, just because I can see that the fandom is going in this direction.
Welcome to my new blog, which is going to serve as a fun space for Miraculous Ladybug fans who believe Adrien deserves to have a funky little villain arc. Previously, this was a theory blog claiming that Adrien would be the Next Hawkmoth, and was housed over on my multi-fandom blog, @itschatblanc, but I decided that Adrien having a villain arc needs a specialized page.
I wanna build a community, so feel free to tag me in posts, submit posts, send asks, etc. I just wanna see content for my favorite possible villain.
Especially with Miraculous Reverse, and Season 6 coming up, I think it's time to jump on this bandwagon with me, and see where it goes.
These were the previous theory materials, and I'll be going through these to update them. They're still available to see, so give them a read. It's fun stuff.

Especially with the season 5 finale, I feel like eventually, everything's going to bubble over and result in some kind of big, emotional blowup. Things look good now, but as many have pointed out, it's not going to last long because there's huge issues that haven't been addressed, especially with Adrien/Chat Noir
I had a bunch of people make some really good points on my last post about Adrien being very defensive and overprotective of Marinette. So, I kinda wanna deep dive into them.
Firstly, he was never taught how to properly cope with any serious emotions, especially anger. We’ve seen that, unfortunately, Adrien mirrors his father in smashing and breaking things whenever he’s angry or frustrated. This is the only way these two know how to get their anger out.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
From what we understand, Gabriel has abused Adrien for a good portion of - if not, all of - his life. He neglects him, leaving with Adrien with no family member to open up to (unless we count Nathalie - she’s the real MVP here). He manipulates him, leading Adrien to feel like there are times where Gabriel actually cares a lot about him. He exploits Adrien through modeling, which has made it hard for Adrien to find himself as a person.
Because of all this abuse, Adrien represses a lot of his real emotions to be this “perfect” son. He just wants his father to love him and he’s gone to lengths where he’ll do just about anything for Gabriel to simply earn his love. Although, thank god Adrien is learning not to do this so much anymore and is starting to break out of his shell.
However, Adrien breaking out of his shell is not being executed very healthily. A lot of times, Adrien’s emotions - particularly anger, most times - are released because other people’s actions have made them boil to the surface to a point where Adrien can’t contain them. This is why it’s scary to think of when he’s going to be brought to his full breaking point.
Tumblr media
A few people brought up Chat Blanc as an example in my last post. When Gabriel revealed he was Hawk Moth, Adrien was tipped over the edge, enough to where he destroyed the entire world. That is horrifying and we now know what Adrien is capable of. The only reason I hadn’t mentioned it is because I’ve been wondering if there is something else - something not nearly as bad as his own father being Hawk Moth and manipulating him to picking him or the love of his life - that would send him over the edge.
Tumblr media
My theory is that someone doing something horrendous to Marinette is what could completely break him and possibly cause him to beat up or even cataclysm someone. I don’t want to believe Adrien has the heart to do that, but we’ve caught glimpses of him this season attempting to cataclysm people and balling up his fist at his own classmate. And sure, Adrien might feel bad after trying or actually damaging someone, but he’s still accountable and he did it because he physically couldn’t control himself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And THAT is what’s scary, that Adrien’s emotions are bubbling up so much that something small might just cause him to break. It feels like something wouldn’t necessarily have to be as extreme as Gabriel revealing himself as Hawk Moth to make Adrien break, considering we’re already seeing big signs of Adrien’s repressed anger.
Adrien showing bits of anger might not be new, but we should be concerned because it’s only getting worse.
