I just relized something that I don't think enough people talk about. We keep thinking the heartbreak of Jayce and Viktor that will happen. Viktor becoming the Machine Herald. We are not ready for that. But also-

Honestly the whole Viktor/Blitzcrank bond speaks volumes to me. Like… Viktor created this living being that developed emotions of its own, and like… he doesn’t consider that a flaw in the golem. He never considers “removing” the emotion from Blitzcrank (to my knowledge?? Correct me if I’m wrong Leaguies). He considered it a flaw in himself, removed them from himself (Thor “did he though” meme) but when Blitz exhibits signs of consciousness and emotion, he just… lets it be. Like… for a guy who preaches rising above emotion, that’s just a huge sign that Viktor does view a certain degree of emotion as essential to being alive, he just… struggles with them himself.

Also… I personally think things are gunna play out differently in Arcane. I think the council attack is the beginning of the end for Viktor’s time in Piltover, and that his exile will follow shortly after. I don’t think he’s even gunna be able to create Blitz before he’s exiled. So maybe he’ll create Blitz while he’s also undergoing his transformation into MH? And the two of them are born/reborn together?? Then the whole “council trying to take Blitz away/deprogram them” will either come much later, once Viktor is already the Herald, or it won’t happen at all/it’ll be reworked. Cuz once the cities officially split, the Piltover Council really won’t have any say in what a Citizen of Zaun does (granted Blitz is created using a Hextech gemstone, so maybe that’s where the Council’s objection comes in?) Or perhaps it’s switched around, and it’s the Chem Barons who are trying to seize Blitz for themselves? That could work, it is very valuable and groundbreaking technology.

Either way, you’re absolutely right, we’re not gunna be ready. Viktor will have lost so much at that point; his family, his home, his work, his… Jayce. And to finally have this incredible thing he created, to give it life and “raise” it like his own child, teach it about the world… only to be threatened with having that ripped from his grasp too?? Like goddamn, can he have one fucking thing for himself?!

Please let him rest.

I saw a earlier ask, about the outfits in arcane starting to look more like the ones in LoL. I think i know how Jayce might get his coat with fur.

In arcane, we see a a picture of Jayce and his dad. The dad's coat looks similar to the one Jayce wears in LoL, it's only missing fur. I think after the whole scene with Viktor, 'in pursuit of great, we failed to do good', Jayce will stop being so ambitious. Specificly about magic, he'll stop trying to make anything that is 'world changing' like the hexgates. He'll stick with tools, like his family always had done, cause at least it will do good. Wich is where he'll start to wear his fathers coat and change.

This might also be where he and Viktor start to drift apart. Because Jayce will be stepping down NOW of all times, when they have to think outside the box to help. Wich leads to Viktor feeling like he has to something, and his path to becoming the Machine Herald starts

Oooooooo I never noticed that, it does kinda look like the Giopara jacket.

The lapel is slightly different, with Daddy Talis’s notched and Giopara’s peaked, but… the sleeve appears to be a darker color on Talis’s, just like this shot of Giopara, where the sleeves are dark navy. Either that or they’re both sleeveless/shoulder-only jackets, and that’s his shirt underneath, but still. Very similar.

That definitely adds another layer to it, it becomes Jayce sort of “giving up.” In talking to Caitlyn after his trial, he even said he’d “join the Talis hammer business,” and even she knew that he’d whither away doing that—“you can’t do that” / “No, I can’t.” And accepting the role, accepting the “look” by donning his father’s jacket… yeah, it’s a sign that he tried; he chased the dream, and it hurt people, people he loved. So he gives up, takes a step back. Because at least as a tool maker, he can’t hurt anyone. Poor baby needs a hug. 😢

And Viktor… I don’t think Viktor has much tolerance for giving up. That man is a fighter down to his bone marrow. I could definitely see this being a cause for their budding rift.

A single breath passes, and Jayce holds Viktor’s gaze as he digs his fingers into Viktor’s hair, combs them upwards and slides the hair band free with his knuckles. But he closes his fist before it can all fall free, and slowly tightens his grip… carefully testing what’s allowed.

And soon enough he’s got Viktor’s head yanked back, exposing the glowing and steaming augments of his neck. He leans in and presses a kiss there, heat be damned, but it’s too gentle for Viktor.

“Harder, Defender—I won’t break.”

Jayce tightens his grip and pulls, much harder, and Viktor releases a wild, inhuman moan.

Heimer, Vi, Cait and Jinx all have attires that look fairly similar to their League counterparts, at least the color scheme and shape is there. But so far we have not seen anything remotely similar to Jayce's brown leather/fur coat or that long blue scarf Viktor uses. I wonder how they will incorporate them

Hmmm, idk, that’s a good point. Cuz fur is certainly A Statement, and as it stands, Jayce just… doesn’t seem like that guy. It’s very… peacocky. There’s always the possibility that they will remove those design elements and stick with something a little closer to the already established design, but… something I think they do quite beautifully with every character is signify mental and emotional change via visuals. And let’s face it… Jayce and Viktor are about to drastically change.

For Jayce, I think utilizing the fur would actually be a very interesting choice for him. It’s flashy and a little gaudy, and seems to say look at me, look at me. It’s definitely a loud way to tell us that Jayce’s personality has shifted. However, fur is also comfortable and soft, subtly implying that despite his tough, I-don’t-give-a-shit-what-you-think-anymore exterior… he still seeks comfort. Perhaps… a comfort that he lost?

And as for Viktor… he’s always been depicted in red. House Talis red, to be precise. And anyone who’s taken a lick of color theory knows that red symbolizes intensity and emotion, love and passion. And blue… blue is typically associated with calm, with rationality. Something Viktor professes to be all about in his Herald days. But (and I may be looking too hard into this, but bear with me here)… his cape/scarf/whatever is two-toned. It’s blue on the outside and red on the inside.

Which so clearly tells me that the passivity, the calm rational exterior is just masking the emotion within. That despite what he says, it’s all still in there. And I actually really like this idea—telling the story of Viktor hiding his pain and rage through visuals.

Now as for how they will implement any of this… I have no idea. I have a feeling they’ll just throw it at us one episode with no explanation, and it’s up to us to connect the dots (like we did with Vi and Jinx and Caitlyn after the time skip). I think it would be neat if maybe Jayce’s coat with the fur is a gift from the Ferros clan or the Gioparas (if they even bring them in). Would be another way to tell us that Jayce is accepting his new role as Defender.

I still like it though, haha. Like… Viktor cosplaying as an Academy student until he actually landed the role is so hilarious to me. Like… really, Piltover? That’s your security?? Well he’s already here and he’s already learned some stuff, might as well keep him. Like they’re collecting stray cats??

If Viktor's parents are alive during Arcane, I don't he would let them keep living in the Undercity. I think he would have brought them up to Piltover's clean air as soon as his first paycheck arrived

Imagine if the treatment was readily available, but out of reach due to their poverty. How sick would you feel knowing that, if the money had arrived just a montj or so before, your mom or dad or sibling would be alive? Imagine Viktor keeping awake at night , thinking about all the things he should have done differently to get the money faster

Cuz we don’t know how he was able to make it into the Academy, how he paid for that. Even Jayce had to have a Sponsor. I’m guessing his parents put every cent into it, and his plan was always to pay it forward. But just like for many Zaunites, time runs out. I can only imagine the guilt Viktor would feel if he wasn’t able to help them before he lost them. And perhaps that would light a fire in him—to help others, since he couldn’t help those that mattered most. To save some other child from suffering the loss he did. Kinda makes sense how angry he starts to get when Hextech gets co-opted by the rich.

And it’s subtle, more subtext than anything, but I think we watch over the course of the season as his rose colored glasses shatter—as he starts to accept that yes, it is a societal problem. Just because I found opportunity here doesn’t mean Piltover will ever take their boot heel off Zaun’s throat. And that means it’s up to me to force them.

But like… it sorta doesn’t add up? Surely Heimer figured it out before Viktor graduated? And then he just… had a free ride? So when does our hextech dream fall? Like in terms of when between act and 2 is it closer to act two or relatively early on?

Good question! ….. to which the answer is I don’t even know, haha.

No, I do, but it’s more of a ***vibe*** than a specific time frame. Like, in Tension, the very first part of OHD, they’re working on figuring out the intricacies of the Hexgates. So not too long into their partnership, cuz to me it seems as though that was the first thing they worked on. They would have had to, for that massive structure to be built by 6-7 years later and for the tech to already be so deeply integrated into their society. So I’d say Tension takes place… a little less than a year after their first meeting. And then the plan was to have OHD span the entire time gap between act 1 and act 2, and then maybe beyond, if I felt like it. Piltover’s Hexgate is completed in Stardust, so I’d say it’s been at least three years at that point, give or take. Probably another 1-2 by the time Oasis begins. So by Oasis’s conclusion, we’ll be pretty close to the end of the time skip (I’m guessing, cuz we never got a definitive answer on how long the time skip was, I don’t think. Just Amanda Overton’s sorta-answer in the Reddit AMA).

So to better answer your question… it basically spans the whole time skip. Or it will, as soon as this writer’s block is done raw dogging me.
