But anyway.. the whole concept of Wonderland is that it embodies Joe’s past as well as the darker parts of his psyche. So when Joe finds himself in this strange world, he’s left frightened and confused. Rhys serves as Joe’s guide to Wonderland but never really tells him what needs to be done to save this unusual, (and quite bloody) dark world. Joe runs after him for more answers, but to his frustration, never gets anything useful (at least that’s what he thinks). Exhausted and broken, all Joe wants is to go home, but Rhys encourages him to keep going. He mentions about ‘facing the past’ and if he avoids it, his future will only be in turmoil wherever he goes. If Joe leaves now, he’ll only suffer more and more. It’s up to Joe to figure out the truth for himself before his Wonderland crumbles and Joe loses himself completely.
