Eating right: never too late to start avoiding fried food now!
How many times did you have fried food last month? And this month? This week?
Tumblr media
Chances are, you might have let yourself a little loose and gave in to temptation. Yes, fried food does look yummy in their golden tinge and all that crispiness. Smells good too, so they can be hard to resist.
But there are only two problems with fried food. Yes, only two that we need to concern ourselves with. Number 1: Deep-frying destroys nutrients in food and the grease is bad for our heart. Number 2: Repeated frying in the same oil can increase the risk of cancer from eating fried foods.
All is told in this The Express Tribune article here: http://tribune.com.pk/story/574538/healthy-living-oils-not-well/

Are you really eating right? Be honest with yourself!
I continue to be amazed at what some people try to do in the pursuit of eating right and healthy. Often, they'd take great pains to minimize a couple of bad ingredients but let others -- perhaps these are their favorites? -- slip past.
For instance, how are you supposed to be eating right when:
1. You cut down on sugar, salt and flour in your cooking, but afterwards you slap on heavy sauces?
2. You bake some nice healthy Russet jacket potatoes, then add on the obligatory sour cream and deep-fried burnt bacon bits?
3. You toss raw vegs and greens with unhealthy dressings instead of eating them plain?
The list goes on; I'm sure you've come across similar situations. And maybe now and then you are guilty of doing this? I try hard to be fully aware myself -- eating right can be done :)
Now, is there an unhealthy eating habit you dread to change?

Buying health supplements online -- how to go about doing it?
Amazon is almost like a god-send: I think I could buy almost anything I need online, all at one convenient place. Looking for stuff is easy and fun. And I get my purchases shipped to me very quickly and fuss-free. I just love to shop this way :)
But when it comes to health-related products, this heaven-on-Earth place might not have all of them. Of course we shouldn't be able to get prescription medicine anywhere online -- they must be correctly dispensed by trained medical staff based on what the doc ordered.
There are also times when manufacturers prefer to do their own selling, like some supplements I'm keeping tabs on. When purchasing directly from these companies, how do you stay mindful of potential issues?
Tumblr media
I normally start by looking for product reviews to read. If the health product interests me, I next find out where I can buy it. Often, a simple and quick search is all it takes to do both tasks; but I tend to be very selective with the search results.
For example, when I was looking for where to buy the highly-recommended antioxidant supplement called Cell Fuzion, I landed at http://pinkofhealth.net/where-to-buy-cell-fuzion/ with a detailed article that answered most of my questions.
To me, buying health products straight from the manufacturers do have their plus points, I feel. For one, I'd be more certain that the goods are authentic. Secondly, I can avoid any price markup by the middleman; thus, I can expect to get more bang for the buck.
As with most online retailers, I would also expect to enjoy good discounts when I buy more. And to see clear and transparent return/refund policies which don't stress the customer out.
One thing is for certain though -- I'd be very mindful about hard-selling, fraud or misrepresentation. For example, if I got a free product trial but my credit card info had been collected, I'd remember to cancel any auto-ship should I decide not to use the product.
Come to think of it, what I've just laid out is mostly similar to my buying experience with and expectations of Amazon and other well-established online merchants.
The only key difference is I gotta be more diligent with my pre-purchase research as inputs from past customers may be limited and likely more skewed towards a favorable stance. "Go in with your eyes open!" they'd say.
Oh, how I miss that familiar Amazon shopping platform at such times :)

Should I eat fruits before or after a meal?
Have you heard this tip before -- don't eat fruits just after a meal, especially for dinner?
Tumblr media
I have come across vague references to gas as a result of fermentation in the stomach. Eeeks, I certainly don't want to smell rotten, when I can help it. Lol ;-)
So off I went to good 'ol Google. This Huffington Post article (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/11/12/the-best-way-to-eat-fruit_n_2114888.html) shedded some light for me on this quirky concern.
Indeed, from now on, I'll be eating my fruits before a meal to get the best of what I eat. Plus I'll add plenty of raw greens to the mix. Doing this will keep me half-full so that I won't overeat during the meal -- yup, this idea is borrowed from people who are dieting for weight loss.
I don't need to lose weight, but I definitely need to eat right. What about you?

Taking a closer look at the top antioxidant supplements
I was curious about what dietary supplements are being consumed nowadays by people trying to take charge of their health. Seems to me that if a health product is selling well and has attracted a tiny share of negative feedback, there must be something going for it.
So, what better way to do this research than to head over to Amazon and check their bestsellers' lists and also which products are getting top ratings. There are some interesting finds in their antioxidant department...
Tumblr media
There are 10 sub-categories plus the "combo" one for antioxidants alone. Too many for me to compile, so I made only a list of key antioxidants which I've seen others talked about a lot.
Seems like there are many pills and capsules -- with differing potency across the brands -- to pop just to stay healthy, unless we can find an all-in-one super product that's effective.
So I googled, and discovered by chance an antioxidant supplement which claims to have potent ingredients. This is Global Healing Center's Cell Fuzion, quite a new product on the market and not sold on Amazon.
Further searching landed me on a comprehensive review of Cell Fuzion, seen at http://pinkofhealth.net/cell-fuzion-review/. Wow, this supplement actually works at the cellular level to protect and repair cells and DNA. I was impressed already, especially with the prospect of anti-aging.
As I read more, I became more convinced this is a superior product which beats hands down all the separate dosages of individual antioxidants. I was left wondering if the high price tag is worth it though...
What do you think -- should I give Cell Fuzion a try?

Fast-paced workouts or slow movements -- which is the better exercise for health?
Tumblr media
I've often been intrigued and also confused by which type of exercises are the best for maintaining a healthy body. Since young, I've been told that workouts are good, especially for the heart. Yet I see a lot of people do slow stuff like yoga...
What's the catch?
One the one hand, we get to sweat it out by going to the gym, playing sports, having a swim or run. On the other, I've heard that exercises like pilates and yoga are therapeutic and can provide restful sleep afterwards.
Seems to me that the faster exercises tend toward cardiovascular benefit while slower ones work more on "qi" or energy flow in the body. Maybe a mix of both would be the ideal way for healthy living :)
What are you doing for exercise?
