putting the obvious anti-transmasculinity aside because i think it speaks for itself, i’d just like to point out the fatphobia (and general wrongness) of acting like “bone-flat” is the ideal and no real men have fat on their chests. like, i hate to break this to you but my very cis dad has a bigger chest than me now, as does pretty much every other cis man in my family, because it’s completely normal for cis men to have fat on their chests and the existence of that fat is not disgusting. “bone-flat” shouldn’t be the ideal for like…pretty much any part of the body because having some degree of muscle and fat tissue to pad out your skeleton is literally just part of having a body. if you really think having any fat whatsoever on a given part of your body is disgusting, i genuinely fear for your well-being because that’s…not good.

The "this word is a slur" is such a weird argument because like historically speaking every word aside from the words we got from academia and medical studies (i.e words like homosexual, heterosexual, and bisexual -- which meant intersex at first) were at some point sexualized and made into slurs.

The word queer is older than modern English. For fuck sake Queer as Folk comes from a middle english saying "There is nowt as queer as folk". Being "on Queer Street" meant your money was funny. Queer wasn't used as a slur until 1890s and even that was only once by the motherfucker who got Oscar Wilde imprisoned.

Also not for nothing it took me all of 20 minutes on an etymology website to find this information.

Had to share this here because you're right and you should say it. It's incredible how many people came out of the woodwork as soon as AO3 was down and suddenly had no compunctions at all about screaming how much they love and need fanfic--on the AO3 twitter. Is it so much harder to do in the comment section?

At this point I don't care anymore if people call me entitled or think I'm out of line. If fanfic is so meaningful to you that you cannot go half an hour without, let alone 24h, then you can get over yourself long enough to write a fucking comment. No excuses.

"writing comments is hard and scary" yeah well GUESS WHAT so is writing fanfics. fandom as a community is dying, because it is instead treated as a COMMODITY, a CONSUMER PRODUCT. We're not asking for much. We're asking for a CONNECTION. We don't want to sell, we want to share.
