sorry for the delay in answering! 😳 basically, that there are two sections rather than all the houses sharing the same class (e.g., 1 might mean gryffindor/hufflepuff and 2 ravenclaw/slytherin)

hard no from me.
i will admit that i'm not super active in the jily fandom anymore beyond writing and all the pieces fall, so i've really only learned that this trope is even a thing and that there has been discourse around it in the past day. from my very limited exposure, i know that a number of poc and jewish members of the fandom have expressed deep discomfort about this trope. there are some extremely troubling implications of making james a death eater and continuing to ship him with lily that have been very validly pointed out. i 1000% stand with them.
look, i love dark and/or morally grey characters. and all the pieces fall is itself evidence of that - my iterations of both lily and james in that fic are darker and more morally grey than perhaps they're usually depicted. but the thing about playing with character morality is that it requires critical thought about the implications of it. turning a character into a nazi allegory for no other reason than 'ooh villain sexy' isn't it, particularly when continuing to ship the nazi allegory with someone of the very identity the nazi allegory group is targeting.
fic isn't reality, but fic has real-life consequences. witnessing people brush off violence against a marginalized community because the perpetrator is good-looking causes real people real harm.
everyone deserves to feel safe in fandom spaces.

How do you feel nowadays towards Tedoire?
in terms of my own writing... i've been a little sidetracked by mcu fanfiction lately, but even when i get back to hp fanfiction, i don't see myself writing it again. i don't mind tedoire and i might sometimes read it, but i'm def less keen on it than i used to be.

i cannot emphasize this enough, omfg. i’ve had a couple people insinuate in the past that some bi characters of mine aren’t actually real representation because they’re in opposite sex relationships and it makes me want to tear my fucking hair out.
can we please let authors just write stories where bi people are out there living their lives without having to to prove to gatekeepy readers that their characters are “the right kind” of bi?
“why bother writing bisexual characters if they just end up in a m/f relationship”

Hi! I just started re reading "the wrinkles of the road" and I have a question: you say that van dedworth is rose's cousin's brother in law (chapter 5). Which cousin are we talking about? It seems implied that he's victoire brother in law but how could he be teddy's brother? I probably missed something, there are just too many cousins!
no worries, there are *definitely* too many cousins, haha - as i’ve been editing, i’ve cut a few out of the story or significantly decreased their roles because it’s definitely hard to keep track of! <3
you actually didn’t miss anything, though! one of the changes i made was changing who victoire was paired up with - i’m hoping that y’all forgive me for taking teddy out of the equation 😅 there are a couple story-related reasons i did it that will become a little more apparent later, but honestly, mostly it’s that i just like writing the guy she’s married to now a lot more than i like writing teddy. 😂
(fwiw, that is a popular opinion - i’ve gotten a lot of “don’t you dare break them up i love them” and only two or three “i like teddy better’)

omg i don’t mind at all! <3 + also thank you so much, i love being told that people like my stuff in general but esp that they like vic/g, spoiler but i do not see me breaking them up and they’re married in the scorose i’m rewriting that takes place like seven or eight years in the future.
and yes, it’s an app! it’s called social maker - i write the texts and then string them together in photoshop, and now i also change some of the colors of the texts themselves to be more distinguishable. :)
