PBW Witch Shop & Zine Distro

The PBW Witch Shop is a curated selection of witchcraft and magic related zines, books, pin-back buttons, tarot cards and more.

We focus on traditional and folkloric witchcraft, animism, chaos magic, secular witchcraft, magical herbs and plants, queer witchcraft, tarot & Divination, witchcraft & magic in politics, history, culture, and social & racial justice, and aspects of non-Wiccan forms of witchcraft, magic, and paganism.

Pre-Covid the Portland Button Works primarily made custom pinback button. Selling zines and books was secondary and more of a hobby for me to share things I’d like to read. Right now our business is pivoting to focus on books and zines that people can read in the comfort and safety of their own homes. Some items are from well known witchcraft and occult publisher and some are titles from small publishers with interesting items I don’t see in other shops but I’m excited to elevate.

Not everyone has income to buy books right now, we totally understand that, but I would love it if you were able to reblog this post or share Portland Button Works and PBW Witch Shop with your friends.

Minnesota: City of Bloomington pays $28K for driveway that increases fair market value of terror-linked Dar Al Farooq Property

While Smith Park, and other Bloomington parks, are in need of repairs, the City is paying $28,147.50 for a driveway that the City does not need…

The email below indicates that the City will be paying $28,147.50 for an entrance that “increases the fair market value and is a special benefit to the DAF Property.”

The Request for Council Action, item Approve Special Assessment and Waiver Agreement with Al Jazari Institute Property, LLC, dated December 17, 2018 states, "DAF agrees the Project increases the fair market value and is a special benefit to the DAF Property.“

The City will be paying $28,147.50 for an entrance the City does not need, that removes park parking spaces, and negatively impacts residential homes across from the entrance.

On September 10, 2018, there was a new conditional use permit (CUP) request by Dar Al Farooq

to increase the use of the already overused and noncompliant Dar Al Farooq (DAF) property. The CUP required DAF to construct a new driveway, and identified Smith Park parking lot as the location for this driveway, regardless that it is a City parking lot and across from residential homes.

After the CUP hearing was closed to the public, the Mayor offered to pay for half of the cost of the new required driveway, and then added DAF would pay up to $10,000.

As noted below the Request for Council Action, item Approve Special Assessment and Waiver Agreement with Al Jazari Institute Property, LLC, dated December 17, 2018, the estimated cost of the driveway was $ 30,000, so even though the Mayor said the offer was to pay for half, by limiting the amount DAF would pay at $10,000, the City was actually agreeing to pay more for an entrance the City did not need. As indicated above the actual cost is $38,147.50 and therefore the City will be paying $28,147.50.

While Smith Park, and other Bloomington parks, are in need of repairs, the City is paying $28,147.50 for a driveway that the City does not need, but again, as noted below, "increases the fair market value and is a special benefit to the DAF Property.”

The following is from the Request for Council Action, Smith Park Driveway Assessment and Waiver Agreement, dated December 17, 2018.

It increases the fair market value of DAF Property and yet the City is paying almost three times more than DAF.

Dar Al Farooq (DAF) overuses their property and instead of requesting DAF address the overuse, the Mayor suggests that the City pay for half the cost for a new entrance to Smith Park which ends up being almost three times more than DAF. That is not right.

The City does not need a new entrance, the City already paid for an entrance, the entrance had worked for years until DAF overused their property, and the City is paying for almost three times more than DAF. That does not make sense.

The Dar Al Farooq property is overused and noncompliant and the City needs to address it.

Here is one of the ways to make sigils!

Sigils is something used by not only witches but also many other people. Sigils help you accomplish things you want, like: losing a habit, passing a test, or finding something you’ve lost. (But getting these accomplished would definitely take time)

There are many other ways to make sigils, and all of them would work as long as you believe. Of course, sigils won’t be able to do hard things like finding a stack of gold or making your hair grow really long in 1 day.
