[5:52 PM] there was something beautiful in the way yeosang looked at you. something beautiful, and soft, and lovely, a stark contrast to the power and energy that flashed in his eyes every time he brandished his electrum whip. it drew you in whenever you caught him staring. you couldn’t help it, you’d stare right back. he looked at you with such immense love in his eyes, like you were the most valuable, precious thing in the universe and his whole existence was dedicated to making sure that you were okay, that you were safe. never mind the fact that you were a trained shadowhunter and could, within reason, have him on the floor with a knife at his throat in a minute flat. that didn’t matter to yeosang. he’d seen you at your worst, fought alongside you in battle since the two of you were old enough to go out on missions. you were the best shadowhunter pair of your generation—and even that without the advantage of being parabatai. the sole reason for that—for why you weren’t parabatai—is that both of you were immensely, immeasurably, crushingly in love with each other. maybe one day you would notice the look in his eyes when they watched you. maybe one day you would realize he loved you just as much, if not more.

[11:34 AM] you and mingi are learning the dance for a collab stage for some awards show you, mingi, yunho, and one of your group members have been invited to perform at. it’s a huge honor, being asked to perform with them, even if nobody knows that you and mingi are dating, but mingi’s cheeky. it’s a pretty... intimate dance, and he takes every opportunity he gets to put his arm around your waist and pull you into him or tuck his neck into the crook of your neck, leaving soft kisses there. it’s a bold move, but with the nature of the dance, it just looks like the two of you have really good chemistry.

the prince sighs, rolling his eyes at you.

“y/n, how many times have i told you not to call me that?”

“fine. prince wooyoung, what are you doing?”

“how many times am i going to have to tell you? it’s wooyoung! just wooyoung!”

“ok fine! just wooyoung, what are you doing?”

he pouts. it looks ridiculous on him, but somehow you can’t help but find it cute.

“why won’t you just call me wooyoung? and can’t i hang out with the love of my life?”

“ok wooyoung, first of all, you dragged me into a closet out of nowhere, and second of all, you’re the heir to the throne and i’m a kitchen servant. you might be my boyfriend but we can’t do this and you know it.”

wooyoung sighs again.

“well if it means i can’t be with you, i don’t want to be crown prince! they can let my sister inherit the throne, i don’t care!”

“wooyoung we’ve talked about this,” you take his hands in yours. the sincerity in his eyes is clear, you can see it, “you’re crown prince and there’s nothing i can do to change that. as much as i love you, we can’t be together.”

his eyes are cast downward, and when you cup his cheek and bring his face up so he can look at you, you can see how he looks at you with all the love in the world.

“y/n, i’m sorry.”

“i know, baby, i know.”

“i just, i wish i could give you the life you deserve. you don’t deserve this, this hiding in closets to be together and fleeting glances when we pass each other in the hall.”

you take the chance to lean forward and press his lips to yours.

“it’s okay, woo-ah, it’s okay. i knew what i was signing myself up for when i fell in love with you, it’ll be ok.”

your hand is still cupping his cheek, and he inadvertently leans into it.

“what would i do without you?”

you smile at him and open the door to the closet.

“literally be a mess. now, you’re supposed to be at dinner in 15 minutes and i was supposed to be in the kitchen 5 minutes ago. come on, let’s go, you can’t be late.”

he leans down to kiss you quickly just because he can, and then leaves. whatever are you going to do with that prince of yours?

[11:28 PM] “seonghwa, please.”

“y/n, you lied to me.”

“no, you have to understand, i had to! i didn’t have a choice!”

“what’s there to understand? you lied to me, and that’s it.”

seonghwa doesn’t lose his nerve. you’re breathing heavily now, your head feels heavy with anxiety.

“how was i supposed to tell you? did you expect me to just go up to you and go ‘hey what’s up i’m a princess from this kingdom and i’m supposed to be married off tomorrow i really need to stowaway on your ship’?”

“you told me you were thrown out by your family! you didn’t tell me that there’s a kingdom-wide manhunt for you!”

you’re desperate now, voice getting higher and higher and tears pooling in your eyes.

you close your eyes for a second, and when you move to speak again, your voice cracks on his name.

“seonghwa, please. i can’t go back, i can’t. you have to let me stay here, please, i’m begging you”

seonghwa falters. you can see it in his eyes. he wants to keep you there, to be with him for the rest of time, to be his for the rest of time. he wants desperately. he wants, he wants, he wants, but he knows he can’t.

“y/n, if they find you here, under my knowledge that you’re here, my crew and i will die for it. you can’t stay.”

his heart hurts as you nod and turn away.

“i see,” it’s a soft whisper, concealing the tears that are finally falling down your face, “we reach land tomorrow, yes? i’ll be out of your hair by morning. goodnight, captain.”

his hand subconsciously reaches out, and grabs yours, pulling you back towards him for a fraction of a second. as you pull your hand out of his, he feels his heart shatter into a million pieces.

“y/n, i’m so sorry.”

you nod, and move to step away from the deck. you don’t see him wait there, watching you leave until you get below deck and he can’t see you anymore.

he sighs, then makes his way to his own quarters. seonghwa doesn’t sleep a wink that night. he watches you step off the ship at dawn when they dock. almost no one else is above deck. you don’t see him watching you one last time.

“you’ll be in my arms again one day, y/n, i swear it on my life.”

[2:11 AM] you’ve got a midterm tomorrow, and your body has decided that you are done studying for tonight. when you walk into your and yunho’s bedroom, where your boyfriend is already asleep, he stirs just enough to focus on you. your hair is messy, your face is makeup-free and you’re only wearing shorts and one of yunho’s oversized hoodies. you look absolutely exhausted, and as yunho gestures for you to get in the bed so he can cuddle you, he can’t help but think that you’re the most amazing person he’s ever had the pleasure of knowing. he doesn’t hesitate to tell you so, whispering his “i love you”s softly into your hair once you’re safely tucked into him, his head on top of yours.

[12:44 PM] san knows you’re a dancer, you’ve never tried to hide it from him, but he’s never actually seen you dance before. the first time he sees you dance it’s when you’re practicing with your group for a showcase and he’s worried about you. he shows up at your studio with takeout and an energy drink, fully intending on barging into your practice room and taking you home to eat. but when he gets there, your group is in the middle of a dance, so san decides to stand outside and watch through the small window, amazed. when you bend down so one of your group members can jump off you and another member’s backs, he lets out an audible gasp. you look over to the window only to see san waiting for you after you finish the routine, and decide to end practice there. on the way home, you find it cute how san can’t stop fanboying over what an amazing dancer you are (his words, not yours!)

[11:48 AM] you’re standing in line for the biggest line in the amusement park, so there’s obviously a long wait. wooyoung finds that his favorite way to pass the time waiting is to keep leaning down to press his lips against yours, catching you off guard every time no matter how many times he does it.

[11:11 PM] neither of you could sleep, so you and seonghwa end up slow dancing in the living room of your apartment until you’re both tired.

[10:34 PM] you’re sitting on the roof of a tall building with mingi. one hand is loosely held by his, the other is pointing up at the night sky, picking out constellations. you don’t know if you’re right or not, but there are stars, and there’s mingi, and when you lean your head on his shoulder and close your eyes, you hear him sigh in content and he puts his head on top of yours. eventually, you fall asleep like that, legs tangled together, hands intertwined, and somehow your head ends up on his chest. you’re so closely pulled into his body that you don’t know where you end and mingi starts. everything is perfect.
