In your "you can use tis sigil to represent your spirit" post, there is a lovely sigil that I would like to represent in my upcoming book, Big Book of Candle Magic what will be published by Weiser. I used the sigil on a 7 day candle in a picture. I can send you the image. What is your process for approving use of your art in a published book?
We would need to negotiate a price for usage of my artwork in publication. You can email me at [email protected].

Magic Fashion Inspiration - Soft Natural Kibbe
I had a fun idea to put together some outfit inspirations that align with the magical correspondences for the days of the week, both thematically and color-wise. Since I’ve recently delved into style analysis and discovered I'm a Soft Natural type in the Kibbe system, I’ve designed these mood boards with that body type in mind.   Monday- White/Purple, ruled by the Moon. Associated with emotions, intuition, domestic issues and dreams.
Tuesday- Red, ruled by Mars. Associated with passion, self confidence, courage, energy.
Wednesday- Yellow, ruled by Mercury. Associated with knowledge, travel, communication, and self expression.
Thursday- Blue, ruled by Jupiter. Associated with money, business, politics, law, and luck.
Friday- Pink/Turquoise, ruled by Venus. Associated with love, beauty, relationships, sensuality, harmony, and creativity.
Saturday- Purple/Black, ruled by Saturn. Associated with protection, overcoming obstacles, death/reincarnation, and change.
Sunday- Peach/Orange, ruled by the Sun. Associated with friendship, healing, authority, illumination, and success.

Summer Art Magic: Red
We may often think of the color red and it’s association with the summer season in our magical workings. It’s very fiery and energetic and feels right at home in this high intensity season. Along with it’s inherent power to motivate us, increase our confidence, and stimulate our passionate side; the color red may also be able to help protect us from sunburns and skin damage this summer!
Red produce often get their color from the antioxidant lycopene which can help reduce our susceptibility to sunburns. Here are some red foods you can work into your kitchen magic or Litha meals to draw on the power of RED this season!
 TOMATO
Researchers at the University of Manchester found that tomato consumption resulted in skin that was 33 percent more protected from sun exposure. The lycopene giving the fruit it’s red color also neutralizes harmful molecules produced in skin exposed to the sun's ultra-violet rays.
Damage inflicted by the free radical molecules on skin structures and DNA can lead to premature ageing and skin cancer so eating more tomatoes also keeps your skin looking young and beautiful!
Research showed that cooked tomatoes were higher in lycopene than raw tomatoes and tomato paste is chalk full of the good stuff. So, next time you feel like a pizza night this summer, know that it’s actually helping your skin!
31 Delicious Summer Tomato Recipes
WATERMELON
Watermelon typically contains about 40 percent more lycopene than raw tomato! This antioxidant also absorbs both UVA and UVB radiation. It may take a few weeks to build up enough in your diet to notice significant solar protection benefits, but who doesn’t want refreshing watermelon on a hot summer day!
Here’s a fun Watermelon Salsa Recipe you can try!
BELL PEPPERS
A study in the Photochemical and Photobiology journal found that beta-carotene—a plant pigment and precursor to vitamin A—provides protection against sunburn. And sweet red peppers are a stellar source of beta-carotene, clocking in at 42,891 micrograms per 100 grams (or about 3.5 ounces)! Add some of this red magic to your Litha celebration this year with some of these delicious recipes!
45 Favorite Bell Pepper Recipes
Of course you should still make sure to wear sunscreen and take other practical measures to protect your skin this summer. If you want to learn more about the science behind these powerful red foods, please check out the links to the studies below. Stay hydrated and safe this summer, Love and Light - LUMI

How cool would this be for spells or sigils?!
Wire wrapped paper beads. write your spell on it and roll it up and carry it with you. You could paint them with colors corresponding to your goals, link them up as a bracelet and wear them. No one would know about the witchraft!

i wanted to cast a spell to help me pass some of my exams in may (ap stuff) but im really broke so no money for supplies
can i cast a spell with a drawing? maybe using certain colors, figures, symbols and a bunch of intention to make it work
i tried researching about it around but couldn’t find anything :| thank you! <3
The easiest spell is cheap, free actually, study! Lol
Assuming you mean on top of the obvious actual work, I would suggest researching some of the primary test taking techniques and seeing how you can adapt them into your practice specifically. Here's a few of my ideas to help you get started:
Good Sleep
The night before a big test is a great opportunity to prep for the big day. Your memory recall will be much better if you've slept sufficiently, there are tons of studies about sleep and it's effect on mental processing. So maybe set up a longer unwind time the night before. Do a face mask, drink some tea (green tea, or maybe Gingko Biloba for memory) have a nice bath and/or whatever rituals you may already do for handling stress or improving sleep.
Sigils
If drawing sigils is something you like to do then consider creating a sigil and drawing it on your hand or your water bottle. Something to remind yourself to center, relax, and take one step at a time. Don't rush through instructions, look over the entire year first then take it question by question. If you come across something you don't know, maintain your positive energy by not obsessing. Simply mark it to come back to or give your best educated guess and move on.
Color
As an art witch I'm always looking for ways to utilize color to trick my own brain into doing what I want it to. Wearing red can give you confidence but might make it easy to rush or get aggravated. I would suggest either orange or yellow. Orange brings the confident and productive energy of red with the mental stimulation of yellow and is known for keeping us happy/positive. Yellow is a mental stimulate, it helps us think faster and process quickly but it may also lead to anxiety or excess stress if you're prove to that thought pattern so listen to your body.
I hope that helps or gives you a good place to start, good luck on your tests!

Hello! I have fallen into a deep depression. I find that therapy would be best for me, however I am afraid to bring it up as I am worried that my mother will not believe my emotions. I feel that withcraft is something that can help benefit that, since it is something I had great interest in a while back. However, someone close to me said that it is all fake and that it means nothing, and that kind of ruined it for me. At this point, I am just wanting to do better for myself. As someone who is a “baby witch” can the art to becoming an art witch be something good to start with?
Okay, I'm going to be straight with you. There's a lot of misinformation and a lot of make believe in the witchcraft community (not unlike most religions). That said, there's a lot that's real too. The tricky part is not accepting everything you learn at face value but putting it through a filter of truth.
Does lighting a purple candle and drinking tea and putting potpourri under your pillow somehow put you in magical contact with the god of dreams? Maybe? But probably not. However, the herbs in the tea have a sedative, the potpourri stimulates a hormone reaction which causes our bodies to relax, and staring at the candle instead of your phone the last 30 min of the day might actually impact how easily and well you sleep. Art witchcraft specifically can be utilized as a form of art therapy, if that's what you choose to pursue, and can be very beneficial in helping you categorize and process your emotions.
Look for the facts and build from there. Always be asking WHY. There's a lot to be learned, applied, and benefited from but falling into the trap of crating a false reality for yourself will NEVER help you out of your depression. You have to outsmart your brain which is addicted to the hormone cocktail it's getting by being depressed. It's difficult and subversive sometimes, I've been there. When there's a disparity between what we know is real and what we are trying to believe is real we can never be happy. It takes shining lights where it's uncomfortable to look and facing facts we may not like. Then deciding to grow from that. It can be a long hard road, it was for me, but it's possible. It takes making rules for yourself that you don't break and not letting yourself give in to excuses and procrastination.
No one will tell you this, they never told me, but the truth is depression gets fixed when you are productive. Work at something. Devote your time and energy into something that you know is worth pursuing. Finances are one important one to consider but even self improvement can get you the. Work out regularly, train your body and watch yourself get better and grow through the struggle. The confidence you get will help you in other areas. I quit smoking, stopped being an alcoholic, stopped being a compulsive liar and just embraced truth in all things. It's possible, but the path there isn't what people want to hear. I won't coddle you, I'm being real with you because I want you to beat this. I wish you nothing but the best on your journey friend, my inbox is always open.

Hello! I recently learned about art witches, and I really wanted to become one after I saw one of your posts for beginners, but I can't find it again. Do you think maybe you can start tagging things, or maybe give a link to it?
I believe all the new witch/beginner art witch stuff on my blog is tagged #101. That should give you a lot of stuff to chew on. Past that most of my practice is based on color psychology and you'll find a lot of information on my blog about that if you're looking to build on the basics.

Are you familar with Hilma af Klint’s paintings?
I wasn't, looked her up thanks to your question and I'm once again reminded of how little credit women get in the art history world smh. Very very interesting artist and I'm so glad you brought her to my attention!

Areas of Research for the Intermediate Witch
When you’ve covered all the basics, the next step is to pick some topics and study them in-depth. Take notes, whether they are online or by hand, and find creative ways to incorporate what you’ve learned into your practice. With depth of knowledge comes depth of understanding, and that will make you a stronger witch. Here are some ideas/topics to get started:
Mesopotamian magic (especially the role of astrology in Mesopotamia)
Go through each of the Sabbats and write down a summary of how they came about. What is their history, purpose and associated mythology?
Hermeticism and its influence on Western magic
The first recorded spells and incantations (hint: they were in ancient Sumer)
Who was Zoroaster?
John Dee and Enochian magic
Freemasonry
The Golden Dawn
The Salem Witch Trials, and how they affected legislation on, and public perception of, witchcraft
Carl Gustav Jung and his work on the connections between psychology and alchemy
Crystal elixirs
Shadow work
Mythology from a variety of cultures - you’re probably familiar with Zeus and Ra, but how much do you know about Ranginui and Papatuanuku? Knowing a variety of mythologies, whether you follow them or not, can help you better understand the deities you work with.
Other religions! It’s the same as mythologies - the more you know, the better.
Buddhist philosophy
Reiki
The fae
Botany - if you can, try to research the plants in your region, and devise correspondences for plants you can find in your local area based on their physical or medicinal properties. Just make sure to be mindful of local/native cultures if there are any.
Make a dream journal, and write down whatever you can remember about your dreams (don’t worry if it’s hard at first, the more you write them down the better you’ll get at remembering). Research possible dream meanings of any dreams that stand out to you!
Astrology, if you’re not already familiar with it. Astrology originated in ancient Mesopotamia as one of the first forms of divination, and as a result is the basis of a lot of magic today.
The natural world. The metaphysical is important but perhaps more so is the world to which it is attached. I’d recommend watching nature documentaries for this one.
Cover all your bases. If there’s a witchcraft 101 area that you never fully learned, now’s the time. Things like grounding, centering, circle casting, meditation, warding, visualisation… these are all important foundations that you need before you can try to build on your knowledge.

May I ask if art spells can be done on just a random sheet of paper?
Yes, of course! "Magic" is just science we don't yet understand. We know that our thoughts control many many things, we theorize that on some level there is an interconnected web of everything and by controlling and focusing our thoughts or strengthening our mind body connection, we can effect our world.
So, once you understand the theory behind what magic is and your time as a practitioner of it, you can recognize that the specific tools/times/rituals etc are largely irrelevant because the actual thing being controlled is you.

I was currently interested in doing fabric based magick because of the book "Sew Witchy", but I’m confused on the magickal correspondences and symbolism of each embroidery stitches. I tried to look for similar information about it, but I’m empty handed at how to put stitching styles as intents in my spell project... Could you or any of your followers help me?
Sounds like a very interesting book/concept but I have very very little experience with sewing or fabric related crafts. I think a good place to start developing some correspondences would be to research the history and uses of each type of stitch. Was it developed and utilized primarily for boat sails? Do we see it used for domestic clothing in ancient cultures? Is it a basic/foundational type stitch or one you end a project with? Why? These types of questions can give you a starting place for developing your own connections and correspondences.
If any of my followers have more experience with this type of magic or these types of crafts please feel free to share your knowledge!

Hey, I've been slacking off in Witchcraft and Wicca due to depression and the lack of motivation. But I’m ready to get back to it. Where should I start?
I always advise a good first step is to start a meditation/prayer practice. Learning to quiet and focus the mind is a fundamental skill that everything else builds on. I like to incorporate yoga for stimulating the whole system and learning to feel that mind/body connection.
Reading and learning is always an easy and good step to take when pursuing spiritual interests but remember to put everything through the filter of critical thinking and honest personal assessment. WHY are you doing something, what are the real components and how do they function? It can take a while to sift through the hyperbole and find truth especially if you're getting information from biased sources. I personally find reading books about psychology, history/mythology, and science to be much more beneficial than anything labeled "witchcraft" but that's a personal opinion.
Best of luck on your journey of spiritual discovery, I hope you feel a deep and personal practice that feels right for you!

These are really great ideas! Get outside, get exploring, and pay attention. You could rename the full moons to align with your specific area as well. For me squirrels happen to be everywhere in one particular spring month. So maybe that months moon is a squirrel moon and I could incorporate that in my divination, Grimoire work, or spells!
Localizing Your Practice
Tumblr media
So much witchcraft emphasizes how important it is to honor and work with the Earth, but then teaches us spells with ingredients we basically have to import using locations we don’t have access to. It’s rare to find an existing grimoire or guide book that actually works with where we live. We can still use them, but it doesn’t enhance our connection to our local land, which to many can feel important. Here are some tips for localizing your practice and working with the land you actually live on.
See what nature exists around you. Explore your own backyard with a critical eye. What plants can you actually go and pick yourself? What are those plants associated with? Do you have access to a creek or river? What does your local land actually have on it? If magic correspondences for your local plants haven’t been written about, you may have to do your own research. Example: I grow several plants on my back porch which I can potentially use for magic. There are magnolia trees and rhodedendrons on the grounds of my apartment complex. My parent’s neighbors have chickens in the backyard, so I have access to some feathers when they shed.
Check out local folklore, legends, etc. This is one of my favorite parts, but can also be the hardest. What are the stories of your area, both on a local and cultural scale. Example: A West Virginian may incorporate legends of the Mothman. Everyone says that one building on my old college campus is haunted (and they’re right.) People talk about that liminal-space feeling when you drive down that one road at night.
Find the magic spots. Sometimes the urban legends will tip you off to these (usually in a bad way) but other times you can find them on your own. A place where the energy is just right for some reason. A place you can go to be closer to nature, or a place you could host a ritual if needed. Sometimes it’s just a place where you can feel your mind open a little bit. Example: The shady corner of a public park. The tunnel downtown. That weirdly-perfect circle of trees in the woods behind Wal-Mart.
Meet your land wights. Spirits of the local land. This could be the fair folk, but also house spirits, the spirits of the trees near you, the nature spirits of wherever you are. They’re there. Be good to them and they’ll be good to you! Note: Some spirits and wights will not be interested in working with you, and that’s okay. I generally think it’s good to at least leave a polite offering to just be on general decent terms even if you never work with them more directly beyond that.
Check in with your Seasons. Harvest holidays generally don’t have actual lifestyle importance to most people reading this. The seasonal shifts other people write about may be from a very different climate than yours! Figure out a calendar that works for you. It doesn’t have to be detailed, but something that ties you to the seasons as you actually experience them. I also love working in any fun annual festivals nearby, if any.

Happy Lughnasadh! The kids and I baked braided cinnamon bread and made corn husk dollies. We spent time thinking back on all the things we've done and all the ways we've grown this year. The kids are starting school and routines are changing. We're taking a moment to enjoy each other's company, laugh and play, dance and snuggle before the next chapter begins.

Hi where would you recommend to start with getting into color magic?
Hi! I have written a detailed look at each major hue (look up #101 on my blog or the color you're looking for specifically) which I think serves as a great place to begin to look at colors for their psychological impact as well as some interesting posts about how we process color as humans.
From there I would recommend writing out your personal correspondences for each major hue. What scent, body part, memory, texture, mood etc do you associate with each color? Spend time looking at, meditating with, or surrounding yourself with that color. Note how it makes you feel, where that color shows up in your home/closet/neighborhood, etc.
Ultimately we need to know what color to reach for to match our intent in spellwork. Quick correspondence graphics can be helpful but to develop those connections intuitively and to use color powerfully in our spells it's important to get to know the color and your connection to it.
I hope that helps! My inbox is always open if you have any questions! ☺️
