we are in dire need of some new media trend. we've done pirates, we've done cowboys; we've gone through two whole zombie revivals. aliens and space themes have basically been a constant since at least the 1950s, as have robots and evil AIs. we went pretty heavy on vampires for a while. we've also done dinosaurs, ninjas, musicals, wizards, sea creatures, ancient rome, ancient egypt, middle ages out the wazoo, entirely too much world war II, we're currently overdosing on our superhero phase, we've done monsters (misunderstood), monsters (radioactive), fake guy in the real world, real guy travels to fake world, caves & mining, vikings, what if you were really small, genre parody as a genre, sand, New York, time travel, something racist goes down in the jungle, neurodivergent detective, buddy cops, crooked cops, gangsters, bank heists in particular, kid has powers, revolt against the corporate world, portals, social insects, dragons, the British, global apocalypse, martial arts, roadtrip as self-discovery, Jesus, clones, clowns, babysitting goes wrong, demonic possession, ghosts of all kinds, talking animals, fucking with the stock market, restaurant ownership, dwarves, planes, and spies. where do we go from here. what's our next big thing

Thinking about how in The French Mistake they go really hard into the “Jared had his life together but Jensen doesn’t” bit by including Gen and doing the whole house thing and him having the money for stuff. But I wish we could have exacerbated that and also leaned into the cockles of it all by having them at least mention the Jenmish bachelor pad. Gen is shocked that Jens came home with Jared? Misha is really offended that Jensen didn’t come home that night and asks where he was, prompting a discussion about how “fake me lives with fake Cas??” And some sort of predecessor to “and they were roommates” coming out of someone’s mouth.

It's FUNNY because supernatural had Dean and Cas do all the things the romantic couples do. Date nights???? Done. Movie nights????? DUH. There was pining and longing. and yearning. They had them BREAK UP. LITERALLY. These two had a divorce arc. They raised a son together. They lost their son and went through a break up. 

Dean had a whole ass WIDOWER ARC!!! No really, Dean grieved Cas like a broken widower.

Dean gave Cas a MIXTAPE. He was on his knees asking for forgiveness. Hell, everyone around them implied they were a couple. JOINED AT THE, Y'KNOW, EVERYTHING. 

Supernatural had them do all this. Had all of this be done to them. But they never officially called them a couple. Show, not tell.

And because they never outright called them a COUPLE I'm still being called crazy and delusional for seeing them for what they are which is ... a COUPLE

endverse cas definitely doesn’t die in that gunfight. he crawls his injured stolen body out of the warehouse and collapses next to dean’s body, where he will wait to die with his head pillowed on dean’s shoulder even as his corpse stiffens. their skeletons will tangle up like a married couple buried in the same grave, or even two animal fossils that will baffle whoever digs them up in a thousand years

one of my favorite head canons is that after dean tells sam he’s queer anytime sam disagrees with him or tells him he’s wrong about something or generally does anything dean doesn’t like dean tells sam “that’s homophobic” and sam stammers about it not sure how he’s allowed to respond and deeply hating it

yea i'm gonna talk abt it more in-depth in a post later but ohhhh this whole convo where sam is like "when this is all over i'm going back to school" and dean being like "it's never going to be over" because the saving people part of the motto is Not incidental for him. it's the whole point. meanwhile for sam (and john) this is all about their own personal revenge quest. self-centered, singular focus. but it's not like that for dean. because dean cares. about the whole world even.

Misha saying the writers were aware of Destiel and would play into it is so WOW yet so unsurprising. Because of course they knew. because you don't write the widower arc. the divorce arc. the MIXTAPE. The: "I left but you didn't stop me," "the very touch of you corrupts." "I forgive you ... I love you." "I lost Cas and it damn near broke me..." "now you might be able to forget about that but I can't!!
