Manolo Blahnik | Hangisi Review
Whether or not you are planning to purchase a pair of Manolo Blahnik Hangisi heels, there is no doubt that they are one of the most-loved shoe designs out there. But are they worth it? We know Carrie Bradshaw thought so but check out my review before buying so you can slay without regret!
What Did I Purchase?
Manolo Blahnik | Hangisi Glitter Dark Gold (Galassia) 105mm
£815 / $1025
Style
I am really impressed by the brand's commitment to natural beauty. A while ago I got rid of thousands of pounds worth of product because I was concerned by the health implications and ultimately thought I deserved better. With a cute, tongue-in-cheek and slightly girly but minimalist brand image - it's playful and seems refreshing.
My Rating: 4.5 Stars
Price
The typical price is £795 for satin versions and that does not change regardless of the heel height option you select. This is quite nice as it sets a level playing field to suit your personal comfort level. The pair that I have come at a slight premium, I think due to the added pizzazz. The glitter shoes, I’ve featured are £815 and whilst, they aren’t cheap - they aren’t the most expensive pair of designer shoes out there. Overall for the craftsmanship, quality and longevity due to the classic design. I’d say these are fairly priced. Manolo Blahnik does not have to add these to any seasonal sale because they are so classic. BUT if you aren’t willing to pay full-price, definitely look to pre-loved sites but to be honest, nothing is going to beat unboxing a fresh pair meant just for you!
 My Rating: 4 Stars
Sizing
I'd say these shoes come up a little big. They are roomy and comfortable. For this reason, I advise to go half a size down on this pair. Even so, as they run a little big you should still find them snug as well as comfortable. Unlike some heels or shoes where you feel you have to suffer through to break them in, the Hangisi heels should be good-to-go first-time. They don't run true to size which could cause some issues when purchasing online.
My Rating: 3 Stars
Comfort
As heels go, these are very comfortable. I am not saying run a marathon but these would be fine to wear for a number of hours at a wedding or almost all day. Sure, they may eventually twinge-they are heels! But in comparison to some of our other most-loved torture devices *cough* Louboutin *cough* - these are a treat! Very wearable indeed. I opted for the highest heel height at 105mm and have zero regrets even when it comes to comfort.
My Rating: 4.5 stars
Versatility
Fancy brunch? Elegant Wedding? Date-Night Dinner? Work Event? These oughta do! They aren't incredibly versatile for every occasion obviously but they can easily be dressed up or down, particularly the satin versions. This makes them pretty versatile in my opinion. They tend to draw attention so if you're looking to go unnoticed, these aren't the ones to wear. As I have the gold glitter fabric pair, I think I am marginally more limited but an outfit with the right colours and details can still achieve a great look for a more casual lunch in a nice restaurant or bar to an all-out do.
My Rating: 4 stars
Day Outfit:
Cardigan - Zara
Jeans - 3X1
Belt - Salvatore Ferragamo
Bag - Christian Dior Mini Lady Dior - Black Lambskin
Work Outfit:
Pinstripe Blazer - Zara
Wrap Top - Zara
Belt - Salvatore Ferragamo
Jeans - 3X1
Bag - Christian Dior Mini Lady Dior - Black Lambskin
Evening Outfit:
Pinstripe Blazer - Zara
Wrap Top - Zara
Trousers - Sleeper
Bag - Christian Dior Mini Lady Dior - Black Lambskin
Final Pros & Cons
Pros:
They are undefeated classics
They are beautiful
Overall comfort is fantastic for heels
Cons:
The expense- but go for it!
Low-Mid resale value (if this is important to you)
Matching hardware/metals with the rest of an outfit
Final Score: 5 stars - I love them!
Buy them, hun. I absolutely love these shoes and cannot recommend them enough!
My Favourite Colours!
Do you own any Manolo Hangisi Heels or shoes? Has this tempted you to consider a purchase? Which is your favourite colour? Let me know in the comments

DIY Non-Toxic Gel Manicure Kit Review | Manucurist Pro Pouch
Certain beauty rituals seem like a distant dream and if one thing that has suffered most, they are my nails. I have a preference for natural or toxic-free beauty wherever possible so when I stumbled across Manucurist during one of my other daily rituals (scrolling through instagram) - I knew I had to try it. Manucurist is a toxic-free, vegan, cruely free at-home gel nail kit made in France. But lockdown or not, is it worth it? Here's what I think about it...
What did I Purchase?
 First Impressions
I am really impressed by the brand's commitment to natural beauty. A while ago I got rid of thousands of pounds worth of product because I was concerned by the health implications and ultimately thought I deserved better. With a cute, tongue-in-cheek and slightly girly but minimalist brand image - it's playful and seems refreshing.
My Rating: 4.5 Stars
Colour Options
There are a lot of colours to choose from but be careful as there are two types of kits and only a specific set of colour is compatible with the kit you choose. The colours look great and they've definitely covered the bases but as its growing in popularity, there are a number of out of stocks so I couldn't really pick all the shades that I wanted. For this review I opted for a classic red in Red Cherry and it's a beautiful bold red.
 My Rating: 3.5 Stars
 Ease of Use
If you're used to the ritual at the salon - this kit will look like no stranger. It's pretty easy to use with clear no-brainer instructions. Each nail polish shade comes numbered (1, 2, 3) dependent on when to use it in the process. 1 for the base coat, 2 for colour (which you also layer up twice) and 3 for the top coat. I found it easy to use. The only improvement here, I believe is to add a 120 second button on the lamp for the final coat.
My Rating: 4 Stars
Nail Results: Better On The Second Go!
The immediate look? Lovely. Due to the ease of use, I think you can achieve a look that is pretty much indistinguishable from a professional finish. This may also depend on how steady your hand is. I am out of practice when it comes to giving myself manicures as I prefer to go to the salon but I was happy with the results and where I wasn't I could see it was more to do with my dexterity than the equipment.
I'd say it isn't as ready-to-go as a salon shellac service straight after though. As if by chance, an Amazon package arrived just as I finished oiling my cuticles and unfortunately, one swift pull to open the package and I had damaged the results on a couple of nails - mortified!
Over time, I wasn't happy with how long it lasted versus the 10 day minimum it is supposed to last. By the fourth day I had to get it off my nails and start again as there were too many chips on my left hand!
2ND GO UPDATE: As I was fed up from day four I tried again and were much happier with the results.
My colour was going strong after 8/9 days when I decided to remove it to try a new shade.
My Updated Rating: 4 Stars
Value For Money
I spent a total of £177. £125 for the Pro Pouch 36W which included the 36W lamp, base coat, top coat and two colour choices. Then I also opted for 2 more colours and the cuticle oil. With the kit, I received a free carrying case which looks more sturdy in the photos on the website than in person. I'm a little disappointed by the quality as there aren't any inner pockets to help segment items.
All in, I'd say this was a fair price, especially as I expect to pay a little more for the fact it's toxic free, cruelty free and vegan. The only unfair thing which impeded my joy was Brexit and the £45/£50 fee that was demanded of me by customs, damn it! However, as I mentioned, my first-time results were not the best but ultimately it outperformed other traditional nail colours I've tried.
My Rating: 4 Stars
Final Pros & Cons
Pros:
Saves time and money
Non-toxic and cruelty-free
Results look great
Cons:
Doesn't last as long as shellac
Doesn't dry instantly once cured
Out of stock issues on preferred colours
Final Verdict
In these unusual times where we cannot get to a salon to tend to our beauty needs in the way we'd like to, I think opting for an at-home kit is a great idea. It may even give us some more independence after things return to normal. Ultimately, it saves time but you won't get the experience of a hand massage or perfect cuticles unless you are a pro yourself. I've tried DIY gel kits before and have returned them but this one is a keeper. Therefore, I have no regrets in this purchase and I am grateful to have found it.
Final Score: 4 stars - I really liked it!

5 Female & Black-Owned British Beauty Brands
In honor and celebration of International Women’s Day occurring during the USA’s Black History Month, I compiled a list of British beauty brands which are grabbing some well-deserved attention, some of which, even from across the pond:
Bouclème
HAIRCARE FOR CURLY TEXTURES
In the UK, there just isn’t enough availability out there when it comes to finding hair products for curly hair textures. Bouclème, founded by Michele Scott-Lynch has made it their mission to understand curly hair and how to manage it. What’s more is that they’ve chosen to do this in a way that upholds sustainable and modern values and aesthetics. All Bouclème products are cruelty-free and is free from a whole host of nasties we hate to see in our products such as silicones, sulphates, parabens etc. Their 0% credentials makes them top of my list to check out.
I’ve got my eye on…
Pat McGrath Labs
COSMETIC MAKE-UP
You’ve got to be living under a rock if you are into beauty and haven’t heard of Pat McGrath. Make-up artists to the stars and a powerhouse when it comes to adding credibility to even the longest-standing brands, Pat made herself a household name when it came to make-up. Aren’t we lucky she decided to package all of it up in her very own brand? Pat McGrath Labs is an inclusive, dreamy and daring make-up brand that offers beauty products of all kinds but I’m particularly impressed by her formulas that are set to dazzle!
I’ve got my eye on…
Uoma Beauty
COSMETIC MAKE-UP
Founded by one of the key drivers behind social justice in the beauty space this year, Sharon Chuter, Uoma is everything when it comes to inclusivity. Sharon started the Pull Up For Change Challenge which put the spotlight on prominent companies to share the ethnic representation of their teams, particularly at executive levels and push them to do better. Uoma Beauty is a testament to a brand that puts inclusivity and quality at the forefront with an innovative way of finding your perfect foundation shade out of 51 to choose from.
I’ve got my eye on…
Charlotte Mensah
HAIRCARE
The landscape of professional hairdressing in general but particularly in afro hair may look very different Charlotte Mensah. She has set the benchmark when it comes to a luxury salon experience with great service levels. Her talent and creativity has been celebrated for years so I am delighted to see her products listed on NET-A-PORTER.com. All her products are formulated with organic, ethical and sustainably-sourced oils for ultimate nourishment for the hair.
I’ve got my eye on…
RICH SKXN
ONLINE SHOP FOR SKINCARE & BODYCARE
This beauty online shopping site has carved out a corner of the internet to provide us with a whole host of well and lesser-known skincare and bodycare brands that cater to those with more melanated skin. They have a great selection of products to by for self or even nicely-packaged giftable bundles.
I’ve got my eye on…
Are their any Black-owned beauty brands that you love which aren’t mentioned here? Which brand is your favourite in this list? Let me know in the comments.

5 Black-Owned Luxury Brands You Should Buy In 2021
It’s Black History Month in the USA, so although we don’t need an excuse to, there’s definitely no excuse to not make this list. Here are 5 Luxury Black-owned fashion brands to elevate your taste levels in 2021:
Brother Vellies
What happens when you mix craftmanship, sustainability, authentic culture and fabulous taste? You get Brother Vellies, of course! I’ve coveted Brother Vellies boots and feathery heels from afar (more precisely, across the Atlantic) for absolute years. The concept behind the brand is interesting and the results remarkable. Aurora James (pictured) and founder of the brand has dedicated her creativity and business acumen in creating a sustainable brand, working with communities across the globe. These pieces to treasure and to never discard. Check out which items made it to the top of my list:
Top Picks
Fenty
All Hail Queen Rih-Rih. Rihanna is a powerhouse of confidence and creativity and this is truly exemplified with her luxury fashion brand, FENTY. Known as a style chameleon, she perfectly channels her effortless badassary into this brand. The cuts are minimalist and edgy but definitely make a statement. She also enlisted the impeccably stylish shoe designer Amina Muaddi to create the shoe collection. If only it was easier to get hold of in the UK during lockdown (be wary those import duties!)
Top Picks
Cushnie
This one I add with a heavy heart, to be honest. It’s one of the most prominent luxury Black-owned luxury fashion brands who sadly has announced that it will be closing down due to the pandemic. The brand fronted by Carly Cushnie, amassed much admiration during its twelve year existance. Now is probably the time to go searching our favourite discount sites to grab a piece of a brand that should’ve survived from decade to decade. I for one love the simplicity, sexiness and effortlessly chic aesthetic of the brand. Hoping we can manifest a miracle come-back!
Top Picks
Off-White
Now, would this list even be complete without a mention of this brand? Founded by Virgil Abloh, now Louis Vuitton’s Men’s Artistic Director in 2012 has reach all heights of cool. With it’s statement graphic logo and recognisable and almost ironic use of air quotes, the brand has become a fast favourite among fashion elites and students alike.
Top Picks
Christopher John Rogers
Loved by celebrities like Rihanna, Lizzo and Michelle Obama - this designer has really made an impact. His show-stopping, confident designs in bright and bold colours look sophisticated and expensive. Look out for his upcoming collections to be wowed again
Top Picks
Which Black luxury designers do you love which aren’t mentioned? Which designer is your favourite in this list? What do you think of this list? Let me know in the comments.

Valentine’s Luxury Lingerie Gift Guide | Agent Provocateur Edit
Happy Valentine’s Day! (Almost…)
My grandma and mum used to strike fear in me with that old adage about getting into an accident, the paramedics cutting off your clothes and revealing unsightly underwear - ew! Shame would be brought on the family! There are more important things to worry about but I'll be damned if I'm not in a matching set if that time were to come. And, us luxury lovers know detail is everything so why not extend that to what you wear underneath?
There is no better excuse than that Valentine's Day is coming up soon and for some of us that means... Well, you know what that means. And for others, lockdown has stopped ALL plans. But does it have to? Why not treat yourself (or someone else)!
Regardless whether you're celebrating valentine's with a loved-one, a barely tolerated one, lovers or friends, or not at all, lingerie should definitely be for yourself first. And hall-of-fame luxury lingerie brand Agent Provocateur helps us fulfill our fantasies with their newly launched Valentine’s collection.
TOP PICKS FOR SELF…
TOP GIFTING ITEMS…
Plus a whole load of accessories for the demure to the devilish…
BUYING TIPS
Picking for yourself?
Size Matters
Always refer to the size guide and don't forget to measure yourself. Every, single, time.
Double-Up
If you're ordering from a brand you haven't purchased from before, if you can order an alternative size. It can never hurt to have options.
GIFTING TIPS
Picking for someone else?
Firstly, it has to be said: just ask! Sizing issues can be avoided by being direct. Why not let your partner know your intent and even make it fun by picking out items together. This way, you can pick what you are both comfortable with and can experience the anticipation together. However, if you are hellbent on a surprise, check out my tips below to minimise disappointment…
Look Out Club
Okay super sleuth, so now you have resorted to looking through your partner’s underwear drawer- naughty, naughty:
Look for the newest looking bra items and note down the sizes.
If there are multiple sizes among the newest bras, I recommend buying different size options of the same bra to cover your bases.
OR Forgo the bra! Go for an all-rounder like a kimono, silk sleepwear set or playful panties.
DISCLAIMER: When gifting for someone else be sure to deprioritise your vision, make sure you pick and go about it in a way your partner would be comfortable with. Don’t expect a show; lingerie is deeply personal and gifting should be out of generosity and not expectation. In other words, you may not get to see it so you ought to be okay with that- OBVIOUSLY!
How important is your underwear game to you? What's your favourite lingerie brand? What might you go for from Agent Provocateur’s latest collection? Let me know in the comments!

5 Popular Luxury Handbags To Not Buy In 2021
It’s good to practice self-control but dare I say it, I don’t believe I’ll need much of it when it comes to these items. Of course, if you happen to love them, you do you; Don’t pay any attention to me! Nevertheless, here is my lowdown of luxury handbags I won’t be buying in 2021 and why (staring prices included)…
Christian Dior | D-Lite - £3,350
No doubt this bag has a certain beauty to it. Afterall, it’s in the classic and wonderful Lady Dior shape but for what it is, I don’t think it’s worth the investment. Especially if you are beginning a luxury handbag collection. It’s best to start on the absolute classics in more wearable colourways. I can see this bag being discontinued at some point so it’s not a longterm piece. The texture and material looks as though it will hold a stain and perhaps not age well as it may be prone to marks and frays. Opt for the Lady Dior in a classic leather.
Balenciaga | Hourglass - £1,450
The cool girl bag of the moment - or at least one of them. I think this is a trend piece which I can just about see becoming part of the main collection for years to come but for me, it’s to sci-fi-esque and doesn’t scream luxury to me, even though it is. Having said that it’s a decent price at £1.450, particularly if you are into alternative leathers like crocodile skin (not for me, but each to their own!). For me, I just cannot see how this would fit in my wardrobe and it doesn’t fill me with any butterflies. So, it’s a no from me!
Prada | Cleo - £1520
So the nineties are back in full force and I am not mad about it. Prada minimalism always reminds me of the late 90s, early noughties or the Matrix movies. This bag just seems not so practical for me and lacks in look-at-me power. The bag is a reinterpretation from a 90s design but it just misses the mark for me for it to become a priority purchase. The optical illusion aspect of the bag is clever but reveals that you not be able to fit what you need in it as it is so slim.
Gucci | Marmont - £1,420
Okay so, full disclaimer: I own this bag in black and I still adore it. My only misgivings when it comes to buying a new one is that I really don’t appreciate the sequins. I don’t think this is necessary and cheapens the design for me. Overall these bags are practical, aesthetically pleasing and practical as it fits a lot, ages well and can be worn cross-body. But, it is a bit ubiquitous now and I don’t think it’s necessary to have more than one or two in a collection.
Jacquemus | Le Grand Chiquito - £560
Who would I be if I wore this bag? Too try-hard I think. And I say this directed at me only, it just doesn’t suit my style. Sure I like to take risks but ultimately, I’m not this cool. I have to say though, it’s a great price for a designer piece. It just doesn’t feel like an easily wearable designer luxury bag that can go with many different outfits. This will be a struggle and it’s pretty much limited to Spring/Summer. I have difficulty seeing how this bag works across all seasons. For this, I don’t think it’s worth it, I’d rather spend 3x more for something with more wearability. What luxury bags do you plan to stay away from this year? What do you think of this list? Let me know in the comments!

10 Reasons To Buy Luxury: It’s A Cult, Hun
“All Art is quite useless” - Oscar Wilde
When Oscar Wilde wrote this, he compared art to a flower, stating that ‘its aim is to simply create a mood’. Moreover, there must be some necessity in it’s useless-ness as we humans admire flowers for their beauty and the way they can make us feel and ponder. We desire art and are moved to express ourselves through it. The same can be said about fashion; arguably art’s most accessible, transcendent and era-defining form. Life would be dull without it. Regardless, there are reasons why many of us have fallen at the feet of luxury fashion and are compelled to enjoy it, regardless of class status (eugh-hate the concept), income, race, gender-expression, religion, sexuality etc. We won’t be leaving this cult anytime soon! Here are my top 10 reasons why some are compelled to buy luxury and why maybe you should too:
INVESTMENT: Securing the Bag
It is no secret that some buy luxury items to make a return on investment. It’s not my motivation but it’s undeniable that people can run businesses and amass fortunes buying and selling luxury goods. Find the right piece, at the right price and you are able to make some serious margin. There is almost no better example than the Hermes Birkin or Kelly handbag. Starting around £7,000 retail value and being so sought-after and exclusive, people are willing to pay above retail value to get their hands on the one of their dreams, even second-hand! No wonder, there are a bevy of savvy re-sellers out there, hunting down good quality pieces to resell at a higher price.
RECOGNITION: Flex to the Death
We have some serious attention-whores in this house! I’m not going to lie, I love to see it. With trends like logo-mania, with full credit being given to Hip Hop culture and Black musicians and artists, becoming ever-popular, we now see people flaunting their wealth and/or spending power with flamboyance. Nowadays, we can look from the likes of Cardi B enjoying this with reckless abandon to kids in South London parading the logos of their favourite designer brands across their clothes and accessories. I’m partial to a bit of this myself as the logo prints and colours can be fun to experiment with. You’ll be spotted a mile off but if that’s not your vibe, don’t worry, understated luxury hasn’t gone anywhere and won’t anytime soon!
LONGEVITY: Time Waits for No One
…But your vintage Chanel might. When quality materials meet top-notch craftsmanship the outcome is usually future-proof. Of course, you need to love and care for your items but when done properly pieces can last a lifetime. I have items in my wardrobe that my mother bought when she was my age or that she even purchased in vintage stores, that are still beautiful, wearable and still garner a bit of caché. Luxury lovers adore dreaming about wearing pieces years from now knowing they would stand the test of time; to be revisited when trends come back around or just because their style dictates it. If you want more certainty about longterm reliability, that can bring down your cost per wear, luxury brands are an obvious choice.
SUSTAINABILITY: Reuse, Repair, Recycle, Re-love
It doesn’t hurt to be a bit more selective. As luxury brands are expensive, many of us tend to make more considered purchases rather that buying up a storm only to throw them later, like we are more accustomed to doing with fast fashion. We tend to love these items a little more and as we spend more on them, we aren’t necessarily driving as high of a cycle of over-production to mass-destruction. If shopped this way, with items lasting longer, consumption rates can be lower, easing the toll on the planet. This isn’t to say shopping in any case (luxury or not) is sustainable, because it isn’t. However, there is definitely more of an eco-system in luxury around reselling, reusing, regifting, repairing and loving again. I doubt you’ll see a Christian Dior Saddle Bag in anyone’s household rubbish- ever.
"What you wear is how you present yourself to the world, especially today, when human contacts are so quick. Fashion is instant language." —Miuccia Prada.
SELF-EXPRESSION: An Unspoken Introduction
If anyone tells you fashion isn’t art they are lying or ill-informed. It’s a form of artistic expression that is an extension of self. It’s putting our best foot forward, letting people know who we are without having to say a word. Think of Princess Diana in her now-called “Revenge Dress” she wore at the 1994 Vanity Fair Party after Prince Charles admitted to cheating on her with Camilla Parker-Bowles. It can even be political like when the US Democratic Congresswomen wore white at the State of the Union address to spark connotations with the suffragettes. For luxury lovers, these brands help us curate our sense of style, personal brand or visual message with a sense of intention.
REWARD: Follow The Manolo
What an incentivising tool to use for yourself. Not that I need an excuse but I am definitely that person who rewards achievements or marks key life-changes with a beautiful luxury purchase (y’know, for the memories). Got that 1st Class degree? Celebrate it with a luxury handbag; Starting a new job? That’ll be a pair of Gucci loafers and a leather jacket or a pair of Manolo Blahnik’s. Made it to another birthday? Well… That’s a Net-A-Porter spree waiting to happen. Dangling a dreamy luxury purchase ahead of yourself can be a great motivator to make sure you hit those milestones. You shouldn’t be buying luxury in debt or with little to no savings but you could use it to push your financial goals farther. If you feel you’re a luxury lover in need of a financial push, set a splurge budget for when you hit a certain saving goal and be strict about it. It’s never going to feel luxurious, swanning about with the latest Christian Dior handbag with zero savings and debt. Let’s practice responsible splurging so our luxury habits can feel as good as they look.
COLLECTING: Not Just “Stuff”
Some collect coins, stamps, beanie babies, snowboarding trips or golf memorabilia (so I’ve heard). Some others, collect luxury- and there is no shame in that! Collectors of all walks of life can be met with downright derision but to them it’s not just “stuff”. To be a collector is to have an affinity that drives a compulsion to just own and have something that you deem as special. In luxury, it may be a particular brand, category or just an overwhelming eclecticism that governs you. Whatever the motivation, it feels like love (or sometimes addiction). Collectors often hunt for the piece they feel is missing from their collection, build it diligently over years and lovingly display their treasured pieces and perhaps spend time cataloguing them. Maybe they dream of gifting their collection to a loved one when the time comes, charging others to see it or being buried with it like an Egyptian Pharos. Regardless,
“Things of quality have no fear of time” - Unknown
HERITAGE: “It’s Chanel, Dah-ling…”
For some it is about the pleasure of engaging with a brand that has some real staying power. The longer a brand has been around can denote trust and quality. Not only that but its logo and assets become so distinctive, they in themselves represent longevity. The visionary behind that brand may be gone long ago but their inspiration is still relevant and sought-after as they are celebrated (sometimes regardless of their past). Think Coco Chanel or Hugo Boss, both of which were linked to Nazis- yikes! Regardless, both brands have been able to carve out a spot in luxury fashion that goes although is undeniably tethered to its past through, it transcends it at the same time.
TRANSPARENCY: Show Us What You’re Worth
Luxury brands love to show off their craftsmanship. And why not, it’s what sets them apart from your average high street label. With this, there is more of an expectation of transparency when it comes to sharing their process, not necessarily where but perhaps how they source their materials and why they have chosen them. This is becoming evermore prevalent with a surge in demand for a more sustainable world. Thinking about fur, a material synonymous with luxury, some brands like Gucci have announced they will not be working with fur any longer whereas others such as Saks Potts are being more transparent as to where their fur comes from, how the animals are farmed and treated and, why they believe it is a more sustainable option.
AESTHETIC: Sometimes It’s About The Looks
These brands have built their legacies on aesthetic. Everything needs to be on-point and on-brand and that’s true for product design or which influencers they’ll collaborate with. Us luxury lovers appreciate the beauty of the objects these brands create and sometimes we put this above functionality. The beauty of an object somehow gives a feeling of defining or affirming yourself when it becomes something you own; It’s an extension of your tastes. Our style and tastes evolve over time but at that point in time, beauty sparks joy so it’s no wonder we are so willing to pursue our next hit!
Why do you buy luxury fashion? Do you agree with or are there any other reasons that influence you? Let me know in the comments.

Top 10 Luxury Brands Countdown of 2020
Hello & Happy New Year!
After a little break away I am back and ready to tell you the Top 10 Luxury Brands that won 2020 (IMO) and that you should be buying in 2021. We all know 2020 was, well, memorable, to say the least. Which is a remarkable accomplishment considering it gave us so many things that we would want to forget!
But 2020 also sharpened our collective vision from seeing healthcare inequalities unearthed, the biggest global civil rights movement in history, desperate clings to power in the midst of defeat AND it also gave us another Savage x Fenty Fashion Show, Telfar bags, Billy Ray Porter killing it in EVERY outfit and Harry Styles throwing a bit of fabulousness our way! But there were some brands and top-pick purchases, which were clearly miles ahead the rest in sparking joy in us self-declared luxury-lovers:
10. Olivia Von Halle
We've been inside a LOT this year so I am kicking off this countdown with two sleepwear brands. First up is Olivia Von Halle who gave us new heights of luxury glamour and an outlet to flaunt our eccentric I'm-a-hermit-but-aren't-I-fabulous-dahling alter egos with brightly coloured and wildly patterened silk pyjamas and robes. Thank you, Olivia!
9. Sleeper
This stunning luxury sleepwear or loungewear brand will have you looking like a Hollywood star morning, noon or night. But certain styles sell out fast, so be quick. I love my Weekend Chic set for a more casual look or for a more attention-grabbing ensemble I've been reaching for my new Boudoir Pants with exaggerated fluffy flares.
8. Bottega Veneta
They really went all-out with the quilted look and seemed to take pride in dividing opinion. I saw the Bottega Veneta Cassette Padded Intreaccio Leather shoulder bag swung under the arm of some super chic women this year. But the shoes! The open-toe sandles - yes. The closed toe pumps/court shoes - it's a no from me.
7. Balenciaga
I did not bite the bullet on this one. I'm going to be a late adopter or not at all but for me Balenciaga was really up there this year with two of their handbag designs. They've really leaned into logomania over the last few years, they’ve dominated with trainers but this year we saw less of the trainers. However, when it came to handbags, the Neo Classic is still making a strong resurgence but the Hourglass has definitely stolen the show. It's so structural and distinctive. I think this is a really great play from Balenciaga and I have no doubt it will continue to be popular in 2021.
6. Hermés
Is it just me or was Instagram and YouTube full of "my first Hermés" videos this year? I don’t know what it was or maybe it's just the algorithm targeting me. Hermés is always talked about anyway but this year was on another level! It's the most sought-after and exclusive bag. I was seeing Birkins in cobalt blue or Kelly's in seafoam, fuchsia or more earthy tones; wherever I looked, my internet corner was full of Hermés this year. And I'm not mad about it. I love watching all of these over-joyous women (and men) getting their earthly rewards in the form of Hermés handbags. I. LOVE. IT! My only questions is, when is it my turn?! By way of an Hermés snack, as one doesn’t just buy an Hermés handbag without invitation, a lovely collection of watches are available on Net-A-Porter…
5. Jacquemus
Everyone thought the future would give us flying cars and mini mobile phones but instead, 2020 gave us the tiniest bag to rule them all! We thought we had seen enough in 2019 but no, it appears we couldn't get enough of the Le Chiquito handbag. This one is not quite for me but I will respect the flex of anyone who is looking badass with this in the palm of their hand.
4. Marine Serre
I could swear I have been receiving subliminal messaging by this brand. The crescent moon logo is so simple and repetitive and not just because it's been on almost every celebrity. The skin-tight tops and jumpsuits make me swoon. Even Beyoncé gave this brand cool status when she wore it in her Black Is King music video. Black and female-owned, this brand is one I cannot wait to get behind.
3. Christian Dior
From Saddle Bags and Lady Dior handbags to the resurgence of the Dior oblique design, Dior was on every luxury lovers list this year. Since Maria Grazia Chiuri took the reigns as Creative Director, the brand has catapulted itself into the stratosphere once more. Quality still remains a key focus as many are even putting it above Chanel when it comes to longevity. I’m in love with each Dior item I’ve acquired this year and will no doubt be looking for more in 2021.
2. Amina Muaddi
Not even global lockdowns could stop Amina Muaddi creating the most SEEN shoe of the year. The Begum is a shoe design which is nostalgic and futuristic all at the same time. It was probably the most coveted cool-girl shoe of the year; parties to go to or not!
1. Gucci
"Gucci, Rucci!", as my mum likes to exclaim. The brand has always been a favourite in our household but Creative Director, Alessandro Michele seems to have stopped steering the brand as he’s fully cemented it as a must-have instead whilst Dapper Dan continues to elevate street style with a Gucci flare. It's quirky and sometimes tongue-in-cheek overhaul has secured the win for Gucci, in my opinion. And there is homeware too, making lockdown more bearable - yay! Some say, some pieces are a little basic nowadays but we won't let those kinds of people ruin our fun!
What were your favourite brands of 2020? Are there any brands you cannot wait to indulge in, in 2021? Do you think I overlooked a brand you simply LOVE? Let me know in the comments…

Why You Shouldn’t Make A New Year’s Resolution
Losing weight, reading 3 books a week, cycling X miles per month, giving up alcohol, knitting blankets for all of the children at the local school- whatever New Year’s Resolution you’ve thought up in hopes of making you a better person will probably leave you feeling inadequate, especially when it’s wrapped up in other people’s expectations. The truth is- you already are that better person. Believe it and act in kind.
I’ve never really bought into the idea. From a small child, I’ve always noticed how it kind of just leaves people feeling lack-lustre. They often reach for a series of goals that are either too many or too daunting to be achievable. I am definitely on board with setting intentions though, being present and truly committing to an evolution in attitude or state of being. The type of change that is rooted in nurturing your spirit and not inflicting violence on your body. Small steps rather than lengthy leaps which may leave you falling and feeling like you’ve failed.
The best changes which are more sustainable are probably ones that are simple, authentic and comes from a place where you are telling yourself you deserve the positive outcome of its effort rather than from telling yourself that you already aren’t good enough.
2020 has been hard and it’s probably not the year to make big promises. This year, why not focus those efforts into reflecting on the year that’s gone by without demanding excellence from ourselves. Rather than setting one LARGE goal, are there smaller milestones which can help you get towards where you would like to be? Do you need to set a goal at all? Is the change you are seeking affirming or destructive? Why not focus less on achievement and more on how you feel: are you settled? Anxious? Feeling distanced from others? Are you taking care of your body and mind? Has the year exposed areas of opportunity that you can lean into to experience growth for yourself or a community?
Come late December and early into January, I’ll be trying to reflect, exploring the answers to the above, thinking up some other probing questions and connecting with myself about how I would like to feel next year. I’ll be easing into bracing myself for some of the negative emotions and pain-points I’m sure to experience that comes with growth. I’ll remember the lessons from Yin class: thank myself for bringing me to this point and learning to sit in the discomfort to reap the rewards later. And being okay if they don’t come at all or in the way I had hoped.
I’m hoping you’ll go a bit easier on yourself too and melt into feeling for what’s next for you.
Now, that’s mad luxurious…
X
Are you setting and New Year’s Resolutions this year or are you taking a different approach? Do you recommend any healing ways to close the year? How do you feel you have you grown this year? Let me know in the comments…

Net-A-Porter | Winter Date Night Edit
They are definitely in your household, right? If so, read on… Miss Corona cannot be the only one to galavant up and down the streets of London. I like a date night as much as the next person so now lockdown has entered a slightly less locky-downy tier- I was immediately out to experience some relief and normalcy, and nothing quite does it like getting dressed up and not having to serve your own wine. Net-a-Porter, long-time internet haunt and provider of fierce outfits definitely delivers for all of your Winter date night attire needs…
1 - Coat - Michael Michael Kors - Belted Wool Blend Coat - £450
2 - Top - The Attico - Cropped off-the-shoulder top - £800
3 - Bag - Gucci - Marmont Black Quilted Leather - £1,420
4 - Scarf - Yves Saloman - White Feather Scarf - £165
5 - Shoes - Gianvito Rossi - Plexi 100 Leather PVC Pumps - £535
TOP IT OFF
For a sexy and dramatic look, my top select is this cropped off-the-shoulder top from The Attico. There are so many colours and textures to choose from with a quick browse online to find one that suits your style. Opt for black to keep it timeless; not a problem at all with a little help from the sleeves as they give period-drama vibes. Word-of-warning though- just commit to the sleeves down look or you’ll be fighting with it all night to stay on the shoulder.
WRAP UP WARM
No winter look is complete without a suitably warm and billowing coat that snaps in the wind. Mine is an old style from Maje which is large enough so I can throw it on with the biggest jumpers or fashion-sleeves underneath. There are plenty of coats to choose from on NET-A-PORTER but the closest in style and cost is the gorgeous Michael Michael Kors Wool Blend coat. I’m also constantly reaching for this Charlotte Simone fur scarf but you can find similar frosty colours by Yves Saloman on NET-A-PORTER.
HEELS, HONEY
And for a bit of height and shoes that won’t cripple your feet, the Gianvito Rossi Plexi style is always a winner. The clear plastic sides are great at elongating the legs, the pointy toe is super sexy and they are about a 7 out of 10 on the comfort scale so are a quick no-brainer heel to grab for almost any occassion. Here, I wear the black suede version but the leather are equally lovely.
Merry Christmas!
XOXO

Luxury Christmas Gifts For Mum | Lady of the Manor Edit
She’d do anything for you and somehow, she’s always done it looking fabulous! No matter how many times she’s claimed you swan around the house- you’re certain nobody does it quite like her. Her standards for you are super high and undoubtedly, she deserves the best too. She’s probably said that she doesn't want anything for Christmas as your love will do but that just won’t suffice in your mind. So, here are few luxury gift ideas for mum that you can still order to arrive in time for Christmas:
COSY CREEPING
ATP Atelier - Anzi Flat Shearling Slippers - £245
Mum spent years running up and down for you so it’s about time she was able to slow down in style. These shearling slippers from ATP Atelier are sure to have her feeling like she is walking on cloud nine.
CANDLE-SO-RIGHT
Diptyque - Baies scented candle, 600g - £135
Whether it’s dedicating some much-deserved time for moments away or ensuring every guest is greeted with a beautiful scent - this candle from Diptyque is always a popular choice to add a bit of luxury to any moment. She shouldn’t need an excuse to prioritise herself but sometimes she needs a little reminder that self-care should be considered a necessity and not a only luxury. It needs to happen more often, mum!
ALL HALLE, HER MAJESTY (A.K.A MUMMY)
Olivia Von Halle - Lila printed silk-satin Pajama Set - £460
The Lady of the Manor deserves nothing but the best so a set of luxurious silk-satin pajamas are just the ticket. Olivia Von Halle has become synonymous with playful prints and chic sleepwear with a touch of glamour. Pick whichever colour and print goes best with mum’s personality. I’m certain my mum would love this gold set with black and white serpents to go with her opulent taste and flamboyant character.
LOU LOU LUCKY TO HAVE HER
Saint Laurent - Loulou medium quilted leather shoulder bag - £1,795
I feel like this is a great handbag for mum. It’s stylish, roomy and wearable for a day out of shopping and lunch with you, a nice evening dinner or when she just has to ‘nip out for a moment’. Thank the Saint Laurent Gods you were blessed with such a great mum and surprise her with a handbag she’ll treasure in and out of the house.
MUM’S THE WORD
NARS - Lips Unwrapped Advent Calendar - £175
If your mum is anything like mine, she’s a self-confessed lipstick addict, guardian of secrets and, longtime fanatic of Nars. This lipstick set is sure to delight her. It’ll give her lots of fun and options for anytime she feels like finishing her look off with a pop of colour. To be honest, even if she’s just ‘swanning’ about at home during lockdown, I’m sure she’ll be tempted to reach for a lippy from this set.
Merry Christmas to you and all the mummies out there!
XOXO
Will you be able to spend time with mum this Christmas? Are you all set to spoil her? What are your recommendations of gifts that are great for mum and what do you think of the selection above? Let me know in the comments!

My Luxury Christmas Wish List | Black & Ice Edit
Now, now, now - Santa, didn’t anyone ever tell you not to judge? It’s rude. For that reason, I’m exempt from any naughty or nice list and will just spend some time manifesting more luxurious treasures into my life. Any year for me, it’s never about a white Christmas because I wear a LOT of black- it’s my favourite colour after all. So my wish list is obviously a bit ‘all black everything’ but this time, with a dash of ice! You know, to mark the season- who doesn’t like to mix their glamour with a bit of mood anyway?!:
CHRIST, IT’S CHRISTIAN DIOR
Christian Dior - Mini Lady Dior - £3000
Thank the proverbial heavens- I won’t be attending church over Christmas as I am not religious but a Lady Dior just makes me want to cry out to whomever is above. This bag is so gorgeous, classic, timeless and beautiful- I’ve been thinking about it for a long time. I think it’s clear to me now that I am in favour of the mini size in black leather and preferably with silver hardware (but I’d settle for champagne). This is 100% to be my next handbag purchase. The structure makes it an iconic piece and what’s not to love when the late Princess Diana is the inspiration behind it.
SHEAR LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT
Burberry - Shearling Trim Vinyl Trench Coat - £5,500
Admittedly, sometimes I get a bit carried away. My Leo-rising occasionally begs for drama. And this Burberry coat would deliver every. single. time. It’s giving me Super Gotham Villain vibes and it’s a role I’d love to play. I think I’d pair this with over the knee boots and maybe a slightly preppy all-black outfit underneath.
WHEN TWO BECOMES ONE
Cartier - Love Ring Diamond Paved - £6,100
I absolutely adore the delicate playfulness yet masculinity of this ring. I feel like it’s a great ring to never take off. I love mixing metals and this achieves that while being so incredibly wearable, it would go well in all seasons, with all outfits and, just like the Spice Girls, it would be cherished for years to come.
HO-HO-HANGISI
Manolo - Blahnik Hangisi 105mm - £795
Probably THE most iconic and beautiful shoe ever made. Glamourous and elegant, this shoe has cult status- it was Mr Big’s proposal shoe after all with Carrie in Sex And The City. At 105mm high, it’s a comfortable height and is so well-made. I’d definitely welcome these in a black as I hardly get to wear my glitter pair. Now that I’ve started, I’ll probably go on collecting the Hangisi style for the next couple of decades in almost every colour available but next up- I’m thinking it’s got to be black satin. Tip: do go half a size down as they run a little big. Usually I am a 38 but I got the glitter version in 37.5 and they are a perfect fit.
BEGGING FOR BEGUM
Amina Muaddi - Begum - £845
The IT shoe of the moment with it’s instantly recognisable upside down martini glass heel. These statement heels have been doing the rounds on almost every celebrity but do you know what? I think they aren’t just it but they are here to stay. I wasn’t sure if I liked them at first but honestly for me, they ignite my nostalgic love for 90s and early noughtie’s move icons like Elle Woods, Dionne and Cher. They are becoming notoriously hard to find so if you see them in a size 38, I’ll take them in any colour to go, please!
Merry Christmas!
XOXO
Are you on the naughty or nice list this year? Regardless, what are you hoping is waiting for you on under the tree on Christmas morning or what do you plan spoil yourself with? Did anything on my list make yours too? Let me know in the comments!

Imperial Treasure: London’s 2-Michelin Star Chinese Restaurant
IMPERIAL TREASURE, MAYFAIR, SW1Y
From the moment you approach Imperial Treasure, you are certain you are in for a lovely evening. At the moment, with the lead up to Christmas, the lights of the nearby Christmas Tree add a sense extra sense of magic.
But I’ve got to be honest, we wound up here almost by accident. My occasional fashionably-late arrival and distraction in Selfridges, meant we missed our reservation at Alto but we managed to slip in at Imperial Treasure, London’s 2-Michelin Star Chinese Restaurant.
APPETISERS
I usually try to eat pescatarian or plant-based food and with the wide selection of Tofu and vegetarian dishes, there was absolutely no feeling of compromise. To start, we went for the Salt & Pepper Tofu and Vegetarian Peking Duck Pancakes. We weren’t too impressed with the Salt & Pepper Tofu but the paaaancakes: Wow! The hoisin sauce was delicious, sweet and rich and we are still perplexed about how the duck substitute tasted so duck-like and tasty! This was set to be my favourite part of the meal, until the main course arrived…
MAIN COURSE
We ordered the Mapo with Tofu, Braised Spinach Tofu with Mushroom,Tenderstem Brocolli and Egg-Fried Rice. The 2017 Riesling, ‘Le Dragon’ Domaine Josmeyer was suprisingly fruity and sweet but went beautifully with the meal. The Mapo Tofu was spicey, flavoursome and obviously freshly-prepared as you would expect. The Braised Tofu was the most celebrated dish on the table with it being slippy, meaty, succulent and drenched in a translucent mushroom-based sauce. Honestly, we have not tried Tofu cooked like this before and I am very much looking forward to visiting again.
Regardless of the occasion, the staff are so polite and welcoming, it seems all dress-codes are welcome (within reason!). I’d see it as an excuse to wear your favourite heels but you would not be out of place in a more relaxed outfit with some chic trainers. I’d definitely recommend Imperial Treasure if you are looking for a swanky, romantic spot with grandeur for a date or a special night with friends.
See the Imperial Treasure A La Carte Menu here
See the Imperial Treasure Wine List here
Total Bill: £175-ish for two people (two appetisers, two main courses, sharing rice and vegetables and, four glasses of wine)
Have you tried Imperial Treasure before? What’s your favourite Chinese restaurant in London? Let me know in the comments.

Selfridges | Christmas Gifts For Him Edit
So, he’s a little bit of a boujee scamp too and since he’s met you, his tastes levels have… upped a little? Basically, you’ve created a monster but you still want to ensure he feels suitably spoiled around this special time of year where we celebrate capitalism *cough* I mean, Christmas! Luckily, a longtime favourite retailer which is great for a day out or a browse online has all, but the obvious ;) ;), you’ll need to make him merry on Christmas morning:
1 - Trainers - Christian Louboutin - Rantulow Flat Calf Graine -£545
A beautiful pair with a classic shape, classy fabric and colour composition. The pop of red on the sole is sure to make him feel special and at least a little bit cool. For alternative brands and styles which are even less showy, look to Jimmy Choo - Hawaii (for the older gentleman-come cool guy), Santoni - Gloria (for the understated guy) or Common Projects (for the ex-skater boy who likes a bit of luxe).
2 - Game - Selfridges Monopoly Board Game - £45
Fun for all the family until someone knocks the board over in anger! I love that Selfridges have got their own branded version of the infamous board game. Although it won’t quite fit, this is a great stocking-filler for any guy who is a fan of Selfridges and Game Night. Undoubtedly, it’ll be great to get the competitive juices flowing after Christmas dinner. Just consider your family history when it comes to Monopoly so it doesn’t end in tears. At this rate, he might have to save it to play post-Covid.
3 - Earphones - Bose QuietComfort Wireless Earbuds - £249.99
When did Selfridges stop selling Bang & Olufsen online? Anyway, this Bose pair should be a winner too. Guys seem to really rate the brand for reliability and performance making this is a great gift that marries tech and style.
4 - Reversible Belt - Salvatore Ferragamo Reversible Leather Belt - £295
Can you say ‘bargain’? Okay, not really but I love these belts and he will too. The interchangable style makes them so practical because you can swap from one colour to the other with a quick turn of the buckle (two for one!). My tip? Pay attention to the colours (and metals) he likes to wear most often and go from there. Does he love to wear dark colours like navy or black with silver? Match it. Or, does he often wear lighter tones of grey and white with and a gold watch? Then, go for tan with a gold buckle. There’s a two-way Salvatore belt to suit either and almost any other colour variation.
5 - Personalised Champagne - Moët & Chandon Champagne 75cl - £49.99
What a perfect item for His Royal Boujee-ness. Whether or not Moët & Chandon is at the top of his champagne preferences, you have to admit, this is a cute one! It’s perfect for a little extra gift that you can enjoy together or save for New Year’s Eve. To be honest, this is a great all-rounder, I’d recommend for Mum, the bestie or even your aunt. Add their names or affectionate aliases down the side and ta-dah - you’ll be scoring points at least until January.
Merry Christmas!
Stay safe
XOXO
