IF they do get another season, I'm probably not going to watch it and just wait for reviews. Until I hear this show gets some FUN and Lighthearted tone to it like the books again, I'm just not interested in this. If I want to watch a show with serious vibes and a protagonist who is always right, they're a dime a dozen out there

I think about this show less and less as time goes on because it's just so boring, but I the thought finally flitted through my mind of what was wrong with last weeks.
I've never been a fan of the whole fatal flaws thing in the books, it's just their personalities. I get that it ties into Greek myth for these kids to have them, but I found it silly to put such a title on it.
Annabeth's fatal flaw has been shown and overcome in one moment. Her pride, her desire to be the best, her hubris to sacrifice Percy like he brought her on this quest to do, was just rushed past like everything else on screen. She made a heart-felt speech to Hephaestus, (that did not work in book four so why did it now? No god should do anything for these kids without needing a favor first? What is the point in calling this Percy Jackson if you're not going to stick to the simplest book lore?!) and boom, all better. Percy and Annabeth skip away with no lesson learned, or anything besides more exposition
The exposition isn't even done well! This is the first time it was at least done with interesting visuals over a catchy song, haha cute Percabeth, but it's still more plot dumping while only leaving three episodes left?! I cannot believe new viewers are going to stay interested much longer, I'm already bored to tears
And my very first problem with this show from the get-go gets a highlight real of why Sally Jackson would not have told Percy about the gods! Knowledge=danger! She sent him away to boarding schools and put up with Smell Gabe for years to keep Percy close but as ignorant as possible of this world!!! Stop ignoring, glossing over, and changing details and keeping their names the same, this isn't even in essence the same story anymore

Is it driving anyone else nuts these kids never once raise their voice? They speak so flat, so monotone, I'm just begging for some emotion other than exposition!
Also I am super duper pissed annoyed at Echidna! That woman resembles Nothing of how she was described as a dumpy, snake skinned, wearing a blue jean dress woman! What is with the constant monologuing from all these monsters??? Why is TV so afraid to show ugly people!!!!
Also, also, also, Percy Jackson would never have gone up to the top of an arch Knowing a monster was chasing him! Putting mortals lives at risk! That moment where he locked himself in there is the most book accurate thing this version of Percy has yet done!!!
(also, also, also, also, you left out the pink poodle man. Come on. How do you leave out Gladiola?!)

Annabeth's going to be getting the Hermione-ish affect, I can already feel it. She was just as duped as Percy about wanting some food, it was Grover who tried to warn them not to go in there! Annabeth having a sit down with a monster?! She's not perfect, they all took turns saving each other! This glorification of a character stealing other characters moments is what made me loath the HP movies and I really hope the show isn't going down that road!

Okay, so, I think I finally figured out how to articulate my problem with the show.
The scene where Percy meets Mr. D. It's funny, it's good, it's not a direct scene from the book but it still stands out and elaborates on the world and is totally something that Would happen in the books
Yet the scene where Sally gets Percy to camp is so wrong and so intrinsically different from the book it took me out. It was supposed to be a very rapid fire kind of thing, Percy's trying to take an unconscious Grover out of harms way while he trusts his mom to run. Instead there's this whole grand speech and it's So Dramatic a toddler would figure out Sally's about to die
That's the kind of change that is unneeded, that happened because it's more cinematic and the show needs to Show

I’m re reading the lightning thief in preparation for the show, and I just totally forgot how much of a troubled kid Percy really was.
I got so caught up in the “Percy’s so polite and Annabeth is actually the rule breaker! Everyone mixes them up!!” Narrative of the fandom that I totally spaced how much shit percy gets into.
he was selling candy illegally out of his dorm, he dumped Grover in NYC because he was (rightfully tbh) angry with him. His first spoken line is “I’m going to kill her.”
Rick was NOT pulling punches when he wrote Percy, he’s a bad boy with a heart of gold to a T. Why does everyone just see him as the sarcastic but sweet character?
Also annabeth is SO awkward all the time I love her so much

Now I'm just sadistically enjoying watching you blindly ignore whole chunks of the book of Snape's horrid ways and yet saying I'm the one who can't read, so let's play a game. Defend That Scene:
In The Weighing of the Wands;
"Snape looked coldly at Hermione, then said, "I see no difference.
Hermione let out a whimper; her eyes filled with tears, she turned on her heel and ran, ran all the way up the corridor and out of sight."
How, in Merlin's saggy left sack, do you so enjoyably defend such monstrous behavior? Please do enlighten me.
Explain to me how, in The Madness of Mr. Crouch, you so awesomely defend Snape's utter joy in watching Harry panic and needing to see Dumbledore while just standing there being more useless than a statue;
"Harry could tell Snape was thoroughly enjoying himself, denying Harry the thing he wanted when he was so panicky."
Quotes that turn my stomach with joy for people like you!
Snape is a horrible person and here is why
There is one fact in the books that destroys the whole argument for snape being a good/brave person. And that fact is Lily Evan’s was a king person.
Lily and snape were friends before they even went to school, and then stayed friends for most of school before they went their separate ways. Why did they stop being friends you ask? bc snape was a bad person and lily finally realized it. she then got to be with James, realized that even tho he may be obnoxious, he’s a GOOD PERSON, then fell in love married and had harry.
Good Kind people will always give the benefit of the doubt. Lily knew snapes home situation and she excused his behavior bc of it. But finally when they were getting older and snape started having control over his own decisions lily saw that those decisions didn’t reflect who she thought snape was (a good person who was misunderstood).
Lilys best friend was snape, he was the only friend she had went she went back home! Hell the only person she could really talk to since her sister wouldn’t. Snape was a huge deal to Lily, she wouldn’t have just dropped him for any reason. I imagine she was pretty upset when she realized she’d have to not be friends with him anymore.
Let’s also remember Snape only switched sides bc he yet again didn’t get what he wanted. He did NOT care that harry or james was in harms way, he only cared that lily would be hurt. which is so fucking weird bc if he really loved lilly he would have been happy that she found her soul mate in james. Would have not joined voldeys army, and he would have worked with james and sirius to fix their issues so that lilly could still be a friend in his life.
Anyways, snape was never a good guy, and never will be considering he was a 30 year old man who never got over high school drama. The character we could compare him best to is Ross from friends (and no ross was not a good guy either and rachel deserved better) And Lily evan’s being the icon she is had basically warned us about snape from the beginning.

it’s so sad to me that spider is just collateral between the war that is neytiri and quaritch. neytiri’s pain is valid and unfortunately spider was born into a world where he would be caught in the middle of a battle. his feelings are valid too.
this shouldn’t be about hating on neytiri or spider. this much more than that. which is why i love how complex their dynamic is and i can’t wait to see more of it in the next movie.

OP is right and arguments like tiphprince give drive me nuts. While there is no set point a person should 'get over' their childhood trauma, they completely ignore the fact that you Should Try, otherwise you are in fact refusing to change and blaming your past. At a certain point in your life you need to move on and be a better person, which Snape was not. In the slightest.
Brave? Bravery is standing up to your enemy. Snape repeatedly tried to Thwart Voldemort, but when he could have stood with the school he ran to Voldemort. Snape only ever did what was best for himself. That is not bravery.
Dudley was a bully. Dudley repeatedly hit children all around him with no remorse. Yet Dudley Dursley changed his behavior!
"Lily, whose furious expression had twitched for an instant as though she was going to smile, said, "Let him down!"
A quote from the book none ever seem to acknowledge that always fascinated me, Lily does get some sort of petty relish out of Snape's torment in this scene but doesn't ever let anyone see. She did find it justifiably funny he never listened to her to stop fighting and this was his comeuppance.
No, I don't think James was a bully, as that statement involves malicious intent of someone else's pain on a repeated basis on a vulnerable other.  I never for once believed Snape was vulnerable, let alone never retaliated with just as many horrible things back. As Remus himself said, Snape never left an opportunity to curse him. I imagine all manor of unsavory retaliation, but individually to them if Snape found them alone. Did Snape laugh while he did that to them? I personally think so.
Fighting from both parties is not mutual bullying, it's a recurring battle that one side had to stop to make it right. James stopped first. Snape joined the Death Eater's.
This lone memory is Snape's worst because of what he said to Lily.  What James was doing was Harry's focus, but not even Snape's, as confirmed in Prince's Tale when the memory replays in conjunction with his other times with Lily, not all of what happened between him and James.
Considering Snape is a bully to the entire student population the past years already as a teacher I don't believe for a second he wasn't the same in his youth, and don't tell me it was to keep his cover as a Death Eater. That is a bull excuse for his behavior when he could have just been a passive nobody and kept his nose down to be in Dumbledore's good graces, hell it would make more sense for him to try to be the best teacher ever if his 'plan' was to infiltrate Dumbledore's school on Voldemort's orders. James' entire character should not be based around this sole instance as so many people do. Snape had years to change his behavior both before and after what he did to Lily; instead of hating a child for his parentage and making Hermione, Neville, and likely countless others feel tormented.
Snape is a horrible person and here is why
There is one fact in the books that destroys the whole argument for snape being a good/brave person. And that fact is Lily Evan’s was a king person.

I cannot describe the hypocrisy I find in everyone so excited for the pjo disney + show. The kids cast look nothing like their book counter parts, there are already very obvious changes being made to the show's lore in comparison to the books, (Sally would never have told Percy the Greek stories?! Knowledge is dangerous!)
I am not blaming the kids. I am going to go into this with honest hope I like the show for what it is and not what I wanted it to be, which was an honest adaptation. But for the love of gods, please stop acting like this is some new and never before seen loyalty to its source material. This series is, as of right now, In Name Only accurate to the RR books!

Quick snippet shot because I've seen the movie three times now and it's so good! My brain rot latched on to the fac that Vol. 3 kept saying Rocket was Peter's best friend when, they weren't? They were a bunch of jackasses standing in a circle, they were all friends with each other, Groot and Rocket especially.
So then, I decided to write this to appease myself because now I do want to see more of them being besties instead of having constant ship measuring contests.
Another Cell:
"That OrgoCorp ship we picked up hasn't shown much bounty yet," Kraglin said in disappointment as they tore it apart. "We probably caught it going out to pick up a delivery."
"So what are we to do with this?" Taserface asked, the hungry look in his eyes answer already. If he wasn't the most thickheaded crew member aboard, his hand and wrist would have been bitten off already from the only thing they'd yet found. Some kind of varmint that was screaming and twisting in place. It seemed to be making up cuss's on the spot as the claws and teeth tried desperately to be free from whatever fur wasn't singed or modified around its neck.
Yondu had half a mind to let it go and see what chaos it would cause aboard his ship, the little thing had spirit.
He might have some use for that.
"Go give it to Quill," he smirked.
Taserface grunted in disappointment, but went off still licking his lips. Probably in hopes there would be a dual appetizer in sight.
"You, ah, really think that's the best idea captain?" Kraglin scratched at his neck as the animal began articulating even more threats about what he'd do to all of them starting with their entrails. "Pete's still adjusting to being aboard himself."
"Exactly," Yondu shoved him aside and plucked a shiny bit of the cockpit's thoroughly dismantled rigging up to hold it in the light, wondering if its value was worth hocking or if he could shave off a few edges and put it on his dash. "Either the boy will eat it, or it'll eat him. Either way, they'll both stay out from under my feet for a bit while they figure it out."
...
Rocket had already stolen seven trinkets off his captor including the zipper from his pants by the time he was thrown bodily into a room.
The door slammed shut before he'd even peeled himself off the floor, but he jumped to his feet still mentally mapping his path here and how to get back to where they'd taken him in. He'd seen plenty of other ships and pods he could escape from, he would not be anybody's test subject again.
His eyes adjusted quickly, and he saw he was not their only captor.
Some bald body was huddled up in the corner, a weirdly pale looking creature that had noise vibrations coming from his ears as he glared resentfully right back at Rocket and kept something tight in his hands. Maybe his life pack. What did he care.
Still, he might be a threat, so Rocket began edging back to the door without taking his eyes off the ones tracking him. Then Rocket saw the blood.
It was all over the flappy, loose linen he was wrapped up in. The rest of his skin was mottled black and blue.
Rocket hesitated, but when the creature made no threatening move towards him, and he well knew that hurt, fearful look in those strange eyes that could lash out, he turned his back and began investigating the door.
It was no good, no lock, no seals, nothing.
He turned back and put his hands on his hips, trying to look bigger. Even all scrunched up, this creature was still bigger than him. He couldn't look weak now.
"Well, what's your name?" He barked.
"Hurts," the boy grunted.
Rocket felt it, the feeling he'd been trying to suppress since he'd laid eyes on him. His heart melting. He'd tried so hard to convince himself in that ship he wouldn't ever have to care about friends again, and yet that sounded far to familiar.
Then the kid plucked something out of his ear, the odd, low noise had just a little more garble to it now as it dangled in place and he gave Rocket another once over. "What? What did you say?"
Rocket sighed, picked up a bit of cloth on his way as he padded over, and began licking at it. As he got in arms reach, he slowly, gently leaned forward, and pressed it to the welt on his wrist.
The boy flinched, but didn't push him away. Tears began pooling in his eyes instead as he watched him just as wearily back. "Are you, real?"
"Sure am," Rocket assured. His ear ticked, he was watching the little dangly bit wondering if it was supposed to go back in.
"A talking racoon," he scoffed, but sniffled as Rocket licked at the cloth again and moved onto a dried bit of blood over a fresh, sensitive scab. "Space really does have everything."
"What's a racoon?" Rocket asked wearily, it didn't sound like he was being thanked.
"It's what you are, stupid," the boy snapped.
"Ain't nothing like me," Rocket bristled and pulled his cloth back, sitting down on the, on the floor, and, oh gods he would not cry. He was done crying.
"Yes you are," the kid insisted with a stubborn set to his lip. "Except, you talk."
"Thanks, genius, we've established that," Rocket scoffed. "What's your name," he asked again.
Silence, except the faint noise dulling off for a moment. Silence, and then it began again except somehow different. The boy took a breath, and said, "Peter Quill. Why did Yondu put you in here?"
"What's a Yondu?" Rocket asked back. "I was scooped up by a bunch of flargin jerks who dropped me in here."
"Oh," Peter sniffed and brushed his face off on his ratty clothes all these strange creatures here wore.
"Listen, I'm busting out of here," Rocket said with confidence. "When I do, you, you need to run for it too." Somewhere not with him though. Anywhere he wasn't.
"I got no where to go," Peter said dully. "Yondu said I had to start showing my worth or the crew was going to eat me. They'd been sending me out to steal stuff, but, I keep getting hurt. I guess you're my replacement." His voice went sharp, mean, lashing out. "Bet you'll be worse at it, the only thing you can steal is garbage!"
Rocket watched the color rise in his face, he knew that feeing all to well. Peter should get to rip Yondu's face off if he wanted to.
"What's that?" Rocket asked quietly of the thing Peter had been clutching as his lifeline this whole time.
Peter sniffled again and held it even tighter, there was an ominous cracking noise. Then he exhaled and coughed, and said, "it, it's mine. My mom gave it to me!" He sounded even younger without the bite in his voice.
"What's a mom?" Rocket asked.
Rocket watched the pain show on Peter's face, the kind that couldn't be covered up with bruises and scraps.
Peter didn't answer. Instead, he held out the little bud that had been in his ear.
Rocket took it and held it curiously closer, and finally heard the noise proper.
It was nothing like what had been on the High Revolutionary's ship. He didn't know how to explain the feeling it gave him, but he found himself smiling at Peter, who was smiling back cautiously.
Peter waited until it was over and the slight pause in the air before he asked quietly, "what's your name?"
Rocket didn't want to tell him. He had to be thinking of ways to get off this ship.
If he told him, Peter Quill would probably die too.
The music caught, and began playing an even stranger noise than before. He decided he liked this one even better than the last. He knew what feeling it gave him. Hope.
"Rocket," he answered, scooting a little closer.
/an/
and then they proceeded to cause Yondu nothing but chaos until they departed in Vol. 1, lol.
If I come up with any concrete ideas I might add another chapter about Peter, Rocket, and Yondu actually bonding, something I've wondered about for years but never as anything more than vague ideas.
