"Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else's opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation."

Alternate universe where I literally just to go to school forever (for free) so I can just learn about art and literature and history and languages for 100 years. No job skills. No credit requirements. No student loans. Just learning.

does anyone have a fun discord server to join? not necessarily focused on any one topic, though that would be cool too, and preferably not with lots of people younger than 15 since i’m 17 and that would be weird. i’d like somewhere open to different opinions and discourse, i get the importance of spaces free of that for people but i’m not looking for a safe space personally. just a fun place to make some friends with varying interests and opinions would be nice!

Lonely people have enthusiasms which cannot always be explained. When something strikes them as funny, the intensity and length of their laughter mirrors the depth of their loneliness, and they are capable of laughing like hyenas. When something touches their emotions, it runs through them… awakening feelings that gather into great armies.

Many people, taking this into account, have been at great pains to prove (1) that Orlando had always been a woman, (2) that Orlando is at this moment a man. Let biologists and psychologists determine. It is enough for us to state the simple fact; Orlando was a man till the age of thirty; when he became a woman and has remained so ever since.
Orlando, Virginia Woolf
i finished orlando today and i’m so in love. i feel like my experience with gender has been written down and the fact that this was published in 1928 is even more amazing because even 93 years ago people were experiencing gender in the way that i do and having the same feelings about gender that i do. 10/10 recommend, especially for trans people.

Can’t believe Jane Austen wrote Pride and Prejudice in the 2000s
And in 2015 Emily Brontë released literary clsssic Wuthering Heights
Thank God someone paved the way for them…

I literally cannot overstate how important creative hobbies are when dealing with mental illness. If you can’t draw, there are coloring books. If you can’t write a novel, you can write in short journaling bursts. If you can’t sing in the shower, you can listen to music. Sometimes with mental illness it feels like we have this dark presence inside of us that is bumping around in our brain and organs, causing problems. It helps immensely to let it out.
