How I see the Hat Box Ghosts Addition to Walt Disney World’s Haunted Mansion…
I haven’t posted about it that I remember, but after the reveal of where the Hat Box Ghost was to be located at WDW and then when he arrived, there was quite an uproar with fans, though some divided on the subject.
Some found it broke the story telling of the mansion. That the ghosts couldn’t appear until Madame Leota called them forth.
Having Hatty appearing before that ruins it.
Well in my opinion, it doesn’t, and instead makes me feel it’s a bit of a nod to the 2023 movie in a way.
Spoilers.
When we meet the Hat Box Ghost in the movie, he’s been called to Gracey Manor by Madame Leota and never left.
This manor is designed like the Disneyland Haunted Mansion.
When we see the Manor that Hatty once lived in before death, it’s made to look like the Walt Disney World Haunted Mansion.
Gracey owns the DL Manor, this Hatty as a guest appears later.
Hatty appearing at the start of WDW feels like a nod to him as the owner like in the film and he is creating his guests.
It is still Gracey Manor in story for both rides still, but it doesn’t bother me so thinking of it like this.
Also, we do technically see ghosts and ghouls before Madame Leota called them forth. We see the busts watching us. The eyes watching us. The footsteps on the stairs. The floating candelabra. The man trying to escape the coffin and so on.
We may not see them fully formed till after Madame Leota calls them forth, but they are there and visible in their own ways.
Another reason it doesn’t bother me so much Hatty is before Leota.
But that’s just me.

I really wish they’d make another updated version of the Haunted Mansion Rides to a Movies book.
I have the first edition which is falling apart. I didn’t get the 2nd cause they only added that Constance was added to the ride.
I wish they’d update it now to add Hatbox Ghost and the new movie and make it digital available as well so if I wanted it instead I don’t have to worry about it falling apart like my other copy.
I even have the Pirates of the Caribbean edition and I used it a lot as well.
I wish I could get my hands on a copy of the a Phantom Manor book as well.

Just for fun, do you think The Haunted Mansion, MCU and The Santa Clause all take place in the same universe or something else?
So I got to see Haunted Mansion (2023) and during the movie we see Travis with a Black Panther figure and a Marvel Monopoly game.
We also have at least 3 Marvel actors in the movie.
But it could be played off as they look like those actors.
( I can’t remember if Xmen First Class is considered part of the MCU now, but if so Kevin Bacon who played the villain is an actor in the MCU as himself in GOTG Holiday. )
Then in The Santa Clause series we have a Loki Funko pop mentioned and then appear later.
If anything we know Disney loves using what it owns.

Can you imagine a fan fic crossover?
I thought it was only one but now I see more!
There are at least two in view. I don’t know if they used any others for sure, but you can see at least these two.

My guess is that they were made for the 2003 Haunted Mansion movie, or at least the female painting was as she appears in the hall during the movie.
Abc owned by Disney, makes sense they’ll reuse their own things from movies.

So far I’ve noticed the following Portraits of the Haunted Mansion Rides in the 2023 movie trailer:
We see a Painting of The Attic Bride, which unsure at this time if they will stay with Constance or not.
It reminds me of a take of the new changing painting of the bride and phantom at Phantom Manor in Paris.
We see April-Decemeber like seen on the ride.
We see what looks like an interpretation of The Ghost Host changing in the hallway with a hatchet and cooked pig.
We get to see the Stretching Room with Tightrope Girl (Sally), and Dynamite Man (Alexander Nitrokoff).
The Dueling Ghosts. Though we don’t get to see it well. They appear to be on either side of the Organ.
