Happiness

The sun gleamed through the gap in the curtains, illuminating the hotel bedroom we were sleeping in. I moved in the bed to get my phone, which caused my partner to wake up.

“‘Morning Pete,” I whispered,

“Good morning, baby, how’d you sleep?”

“Really good, It’s hard to have a bad night’s sleep when you’re next to me, though,”

“You’re too sweet.”

I swung my legs out of the bed and started picking my worn clothes off of the floor. I walked in the bathroom, turned on the tap and splashed my face with the cold water a few times to wake myself up. Before I could leave the room, I heard the door creak open and felt a thin pair of arms snake around my waist.

“I love you, Jack,”

“I love you too.”

I turned around to look into his beautiful and let our lips fall into a soft yet passionate embrace.

I am happy.
