SUBMISSIONS ARE OPENING AGAN!
Hello everybody, it's that time once again! Send in short stories, novellas, and short story collections and we will see whether tumblr has read them!
Going over some general rules again first:
Submissions will stay open until Tuesday. Once it's Tuesday, I will close it. I may close early if I get an influx of submissions. I also might extend submissions if I want more.
Make sure to go through the list of all stories that have already been submitted and posted. I know it's long, but feel free to use the "Find" tool to see if what you want to submit is already on there.
Limit yourself to only submitting about five pieces in each category. If I extend submissions to be longer than originally intended, feel free to submit a few more, but otherwise try not to do more. Be courteous to others who want to submit things.
Feel free to submit things that are well known classics + lesser known pieces!
Do not submit full-length novels, even if they're shorter. This is for short stories, novellas (under 40K words), or short story collections. Please consider going to @haveyoureadthisbook-poll @haveyoureadthismgyabook or @haveyoureadthisfantasybook or @haveyoureadthisqueerbook, among other poll blogs (those are just the ones I follow so I know about them)
Do not submit plays or poems. We have had some problems with people submitting plays before, and like, I love plays! But that's not the focus of this blog. We're focusing on prose here. Even if it's a book of poetry or a verse poetry book, do not submit them. Please consider going to @haveyoureadthispoem-poll and @do-you-know-this-play
Consider submitting with a link to the piece you are submitting. Of course, if you don't have one/can't find one, that's perfectly alright. But if it's an older piece that is in the public domain/easily Googlable OR is a piece originally published online/in a publicly accessible literary magazine, others would love to read it as well :)

Hi! I'm not sure how you plan to do the pictures for the GX monster tournament, but I just submitted Yubel for the tournament, and I was wondering if I can request that the Japanese version be used? (I don't like that the dub changed Yubel's body lol). Thank you!

I usually decide card-by-card whether to use the original vs. censored version to use (for the cards that are changed), usually choosing whichever one I think looks better, and for Yubel's case I already decided I was going to go with the OG, I like their one boob and one peck <3

Any monsters you’re surprised to see nominated thus far?
(Sorry that I took so long in responding to this ask)
There weren't many that I was surprised by, but I forgot about Outstanding Dog Marron, I got so excited by seeing that guy that I sent a picture of him to someone I know irl who is called Maron and told him he was an outstanding dog.
I was also excited to see Kaibaman. I love Kaibaman...
More surprising, though, was that no one submitted Elemental HERO Neos, Judai's ace from season 2 onward...

Submissions are now closed!
Sorry for going silent about submissions went silent, I had a bit of a tiring week. But I've gone through submissions and since it is now Friday, I will now be closing them. We have enough for a 64 bracket. We have a few over 64, exactly, though I rejected a few submissions for not being in the GX anime or not being a monster. What I'll likely do is just have a few polls in the first round be 3-ways instead of 2-way polls.
Tomorrow, I'll answer the two or three asks in my ask box & post the list of submitted monsters :)
#there were a few submissions that i feel like technically shouldn't count#because while they appear they aren't summoned#i might exclude them to make it a more even 64#but some of them are cute so i might keep them anyway#not a poll

Do you like books? Do you like movies? Do you like when books are adapted into accurate adaptions?
So do I! Unfortunately, this doesn't always happen, so why don't we celebrate the ones that do get good adaptions by making them fight to the death?
Rules/Qualifications:
Do not spam submissions. I'll know and I will delete all of them. If you REALLY want to, then do it subtly, at least
Do not submit Harry Potter. First and only warning.
Good TV show adaptions are also allowed in, but movies will take priority
If you want an example of what "good" means- well, I can't give you that, but you can get examples of what "bad" is! You can look at the propaganda on this blog for the previous tournament I ran, which was worst adaption

SUBMISSIONS ARE OPEN FOR ANYWHERE BETWEEN THE NEXT 24 TO 72 HOURS!!!
New Rule: If you are submitting multiple stories, please do not submit more than 5 pieces to each categories (a total of 15 if you max out each category with 5 short stories, 5 novellas, and 5 short story collections).
I am implementing this rule as, while I love to see what everyone submits, I also want to give more people a chance. I feel as though in the past, there have been a couple people who have submitted a majority of stories and I want to give more people a chance to! Plus, with more people submitting, there gives more room for a variety of type of stories in terms of popularity, genre, time period, and language!!! :) If it comes to be that I do not have submissions, I will either extend the submissions time or allow people who have already submitted the max amount to submit again :)

RULES & SUBMISSIONS FOR GX TOURNAMENT!
This is to determine the best monster that appeared in the GX anime! If the monster appeared AT ALL in duel monsters its eligible for the tourney.
Any monsters that appear in any of the manga (including the GX manga) or any anime that isn't GX DOES NOT COUNT. THIS IS FOR GX ANIME ONLY. If they happen to appear in another series as well as GX, then that's fine.
Submissions will be open from Friday, February 16th to Friday, February 23rd (1 week). I may extend this if I do not get enough submissions.
The size of the tournament will be determined by the amount of submissions received, but I would ideally like to do a 64, single-elimination bracket. If I get a surplus of submissions, I'll extend this up to 128 (but no more than that). If I get less submissions, I will lower it to 32 (but if I get less then that I will extend the submissions period.
Feel free to submit as many monsters as you want, but do not submit the same monster more than once!
No monster will automatically make it to tournament! Feel free to submit anything, from the most popular to the most obscure monsters!
When submitting a monster, feel free to write some propaganda to be used during the poll!
When the poll starts proper, I will continue to accept propaganda by accepting it through the ask box and reblogging it! Anti-propaganda will be accepted ONLY after the poll begin.
Be nice, have fun, believe in the heart of the cards, and may the best monster win!

WELCOME TO THE LITTLE MERPOLL!
We have already done Little Red Riding Hood and Cinderella, so it's time for the Little Mermaid! Submissions are open now until Friday, February 16th (though they may close earlier if there are many submissions). Please read the following rules before submitting:
Submit a character who is based on the character of "the Little Mermaid" by Hans Christian Andersen! Adaptations where the character is not portrayed as a mermaid are allowed, as long as the story is still explicitly based off the original story.
I will also be accepting characters "playing" the Little Mermaid in a one-off thing, either through some sort of play, being magically transported into the role, etc.
Just because a character is a mermaid, does not mean they qualify. They have to specifically be based on or an allusion of the Little Mermaid.
No OCs or fan characters, official characters only! For more information, read this post from when Cinderpoll was going on.
No real people!
I reserve the right to reject a character if I do not feel comfortable including them, either because of the subject of the story or the media it is from.
When we did Cinderpoll, it was a 128-bracket. I have a feeling there are much less Little Mermaid characters out there compared to Cinderella, so the goal is going to be for 64! That said, if we DO manage to get enough for a 128, I will happily do it! (No more than that, though.)
Feel free to write propaganda on why your character is the best, either when you are submitting the character or through the ask box afterwards.
Be nice and have fun!!! This is just for fun, please do not get too worked up if your character is not submitted a lot or loses in the tournament. This is just for fun and is not indicative of morality of the characters who win.
