After 3000 years the Melody of Flowers has returned
Tumblr media
She's back baby! So read the effects below and share your thoughts if you will please. Translations provided by The Organization.
My first thoughts? Konami should errata Ostinato, 1st Movement Solo, and Fortissimo to be treated as "Melodious" cards. Also the deck still needs a better way to search Polymerization like Fluffals have. Otherwise the cards are simply fantastic.
Tumblr media
LEDE-JP009 Gensou no Utahime Refrain (Refrain the Melodious Songstress) Level 4 LIGHT Fairy Pendulum Effect Monster ATK 1600 DEF 800 Pendulum Scale: 1 Pendulum Effect You can only use the Pendulum Effect of this card’s name once per turn. (1) You can target 1 “Melodious” Fusion Monster you control; send 1 “Melodious” monster from your Deck to the GY, and if you do, the targeted monster gains ATK equal to the sent monster’s Level x 200 until the end of this turn. Monster Effect You can only use the (1)st and (2)nd effect of this card’s name once per turn. (1) If this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can add 1 “Melodious” monster from your Deck to your hand, except “Refrain the Melodious Songstress”. (2) If a “Melodious” Fusion Monster(s) is Special Summoned to your field while this card is face-up in your Extra Deck: You can place this card in your Pendulum Zone.
Tumblr media
LEDE-JP010 Gensou no Utahime Couplet (Couplet the Melodious Songstress) Level 5 LIGHT Fairy Pendulum Effect Monster ATK 1200 DEF 2000 Pendulum Scale: 9 Pendulum Effect You can only use the (2)nd Pendulum Effect of this card’s name once per turn. (1) You cannot Pendulum Summon monsters, except LIGHT monsters. This effect cannot be negated. (2) If you control no face-up monsters other than “Melodious” monsters: You can add 1 “Melodious” Spell/Trap from your Deck to your hand. Monster Effect You can only use the (1)st and (2)nd monster effect of this card’s name once per turn. (1) If this card is added to your hand, except by your normal draw: You can reveal it; Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower “Melodious” monster from your hand or GY. (2) If a “Melodious” Fusion Monster(s) is Special Summoned to your field while this card is face-up in your Extra Deck: You can place this card in your Pendulum Zone.
Tumblr media
LEDE-JP036 Gensou no Otohime Spectacular Bach (Spectacular Bach the Melodious Maestra/Bacha the Melodious Maestra) Level 7 LIGHT Fairy Fusion Effect Monster ATK 2500 DEF 1800 Materials: 2 “Melodious” monsters You can only use the (1)st and (3)rd effect of this card’s name once per turn. (1) If this card is Special Summoned: You can Special Summon 1 “Melodious” monster from your Deck. (2) Your “Melodious” Fusion Monsters’ activated effects cannot be negated while you control this Fusion Summoned card. (3) If this card is sent to the GY: You can target 1 “Melodious” monster in your GY, except “Bacha the Melodious Maestra”; Special Summon it in Defense Position.
Tumblr media
LEDE-JP036 Gensou no Hanakashin Flowering Etoile (Flowering Etoile the Melodious Floral Song Goddess/Flowering Etoile the Melodious Grand Choir) Level 8 LIGHT Fairy Fusion Effect Monster ATK 2800 DEF 1500 Materials: 1 “Melodious Maestra” monster + 2 “Melodious” monsters You can only use the (1)st effect of this card’s name once per turn. (1) (Quick Effect): You can banish any number of “Melodious” monsters you control (until the End Phase), then you can return up to that many face-up cards your opponent controls to the hand. (2) If this face-up Fusion Summoned card in its owner’s control leaves the field by your opponent: You can Special Summon 1 “Melodious” monster from your Deck or Extra Deck, except “Flowering Etoile the Melodious Grand Choir”.
Tumblr media
LEDE-JP056 Gensou Kyosoukyoku (Melodious Concerto) Normal Spell Card You can only use the (1)st and (2)nd effect of this card’s name once per turn. (1) Fusion Summon 1 Fairy Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck, using monsters from your hand, field, and/or Pendulum Zone as material. (2) If a “Melodious” Fusion Monster(s) is sent to your GY while this card is there (even during the Damage Step): You can place this card on the bottom of the Deck, then draw 1 card.

I've been trying this scenario for three weeks. It's not possible. Yubel cooks Yami Yugi so hard, it's not even funny. Now that Yubel is an actual archetype with support especially. If I'm wrong by all means please let me know.
Rituals inherently are not a good mechanic in the game. Before someone says 'Some Ritual decks have been high tier', that's only because certain key cards were too powerful and the deck died as soon as it was hit.
Black Luster Soldier hasn't gotten support in years. On occasion it will get a card that helps out or boosts its power. But having things like 2 Ritual Spells that don't work off Pre-Preparation of Rites and so on. The Field Spell, slow as dirt and the deck itself takes time to prepare.
Bad matchup. Yubel is a deck that thrives off being destroyed or removed from the field. BLS is almost all aggression. What's that to a deck that just can't be destroyed in battle. Oh you want to banish it? Okay I'll just use my Lotus to destroy Yubel instead to trigger its effect or just Super Poly/Eternal Favorite into Das Ewig Liebe Wachter. Oh I just Super Poly'd your field that you spent considerable resources into? GG I guess. Oh and setting up Eternal Favorite only requires me to open Lotus. Leaving 4 cards in Yubel's hand to be Sacred Beast stuff which actually does have Yubel synergy.
Match Poll 1: Yami Yugi vs Yubel
So with the result of the initial polls I ask of this poll for the first fic write up. With the assumption all current support is included, using the results of the deck polls I ask you:

With the release of Phantom Nightmare we have gotten new Aroma cards. Aromas now actually have insane one card combos but for the sake of the poll we will limit ourselves to either Predaplant or Sunavalon. Sorry no Rikkas allowed.
Also before I get the ask, Aki is not a viable option for the poll as her most powerful monsters are Dragon Types which Aroma will lock you out of.

Raise the flag of Rebellion for Raidraptors
Talking about the new Raidraptors from Phantom Nightmare. While not unwelcome, I do want to discuss them a bit. It's been a while since Phantom Rage released. We're moving a bit away from the PK/RR dual support and just resting in the deck's natural rhythm. RUM and rapid Xyz Summoning. None of these cards are bad by any stretch
Tumblr media
PHNI-JP004 Raid Raptors – Noir Lanius
Level 4 DARK Winged Beast Effect Monster
ATK 1600 DEF 500
You can only use the (1)st and (2)nd effect of this card’s name each once per turn.
(1) During the Main Phase, if this card was Normal or Special Summoned this turn: You can target 1 “Raidraptor” monster you control; add 1 “Raidraptor” monster with a different Level from your Deck to your hand.
(2) You can banish this card from your GY; increase or decrease the Levels of all “Raidraptor” monsters you currently control by 1 until the end of this turn.
Off the bat, you’re not searching the Level 3 or Level 6 RRs, you’re only searching a Level 1. Pain Lanius is a card that summons itself and Last Strix lets you Special Summon from the Extra Deck to set up RUM. And what is interesting is that the searching and level changes do not have summon restrictions. So it would be possible to go into any Rank 3 or Rank 5 Xyz. But based on the optimal plays for the deck, you’re locking yourself into Dark or RR only. So maybe try out some Break Sword in the Extra Deck now, I wouldn’t try Fiend Eagle tho.
Tumblr media
PHNI-JP005 Raid Raptors – Bloom Vulture
Level 4 DARK Winged Beast
ATK 300 DEF 1900
You can only use 1 effect among the (1) and (2) effects of this card’s name once per turn, and only once that turn, also during the turn you activate these effects, you cannot Special Summon monsters, except DARK monsters.
(1) If all face-up monsters you control are Winged Beast monsters: You can Special Summon this card and 1 “Raidraptor” monster from your hand.
(2) If you control no monsters: You can target 2 Level 4 or lower “Raidraptor” monsters in your GY, including this card; Special Summon them in Defense Position.
So just your every deck Special Summon from hand and revival. Obviously you only get to use one per turn. Because it would be pretty gross otherwise. You open Bloom Vulture and use it for a comeback play. Great card.
Tumblr media
PHNI-JP045 Raid Raptors – Rising Rebellion Falcon
Rank 13 DARK Winged Beast Xyz Effect Monster
ATK 4000 DEF 3500
Materials: 5 Level 13 Winged-Beast monsters
(1) If this card is Xyz Summoned: You can destroy as many cards your opponent controls as possible, then, if this card has 3 or more “Raidraptor” Xyz Monsters with different names as material, inflict damage to your opponent equal to the destroyed monsters’ total original ATK.
(2) Unaffected by other cards’ effects.
(3) Once per turn: You can detach 3 materials from this card, then target 1 “Raidraptor” Xyz Monster in your GY; replace this effect with that monster’s original effects until the End Phase.
So we got your usual RR boss not affected by anything. Also a Rank 13?! Neat neat. Also a board wipe that you can do on the opponents turn if you use the RUM strategy. Since it’s not affected by anything it would be a game ender in certain scenarios since it can’t be negated. Also being able to duplicate lower rank effects? Golden. Might be hard to use its full power but even half would be good.
Tumblr media
PHNI-JP046 Raid Raptors – Brave Strix
Rank 5 DARK Winged Beast Xyz Effect Monster
ATK 2000 DEF 2500
Materials: 2 Level 5 monsters
You can only use 1 of the 1st and 2nd effects of this card’s name per turn, and only once that turn.
(1) You can detach 1 material from this card; Set 1 “Raidraptor” Spell/Trap directly from your Deck.
(2) If this card has a Winged Beast monster as material: You can detach 1 material from this card; add 1 “Rank-Up-Magic” Spell from your Deck to your hand.
(3) A “Raidraptor” Xyz Monster that has this card as material gains this effect.
● Gains ATK equal to its own Rank x 100.
So Force Strix got a rank up now. Well at least there’s a reason to make your RR Level 5, because I’m not running Stranger or Blaze Falcon. Sadly you need to choose between a RR S/T or RUM. Both can severely impact your gameplay so plan accordingly depending on your access to Wise Strix or Mimicry Lanius. Also the boost to attack is neat for the rank up plays. Since you want to oonga boonga hard and cards like Revolution Falcon only have 2000 ATK.
Tumblr media
PHNI-JP056 Яise-Rank-Up-Magic Raid Raptors’ Force
Quick-Play Spell Card
You can only activate 1 card with this card’s name per turn.
(1) During either Main Phase or your opponent’s Battle Phase: Target 2 or more “Raidraptor” Xyz Monsters you control and/or GY, including 1 on the field; Special Summon from your Extra Deck, 1 “Raidraptor” Xyz Monster whose Rank equals the total Ranks of those 2 or more monsters, and if you do, attach those monsters to it as material. (This is treated as an Xyz Summon. Transfer their materials to the Summoned monster.)
So a new RUM that is clearly designed to go into the Rank 13. You Xyz Summon using multiple RR Xyz to make your huge tank. Not much to really say. Using Last Strix can help bring out a big body for low cost. And at Spell Speed 2 it can definitely change the tide of battle.
Tumblr media
PHNI-JP057 Raid Raptors – Roost
Continuous Spell Card
You can only use the 1st and 2nd effect of this card’s name each once per turn.
(1) If a “Raidraptor” monster(s) is Special Summoned from the Extra Deck to your field: You can add 1 “Raidraptor” Spell/Trap from your Deck to your hand, except “Raidraptor Roost”.
(2) You can target 3 of your “Raidraptor” monsters that are banished and/or in your GY; place them on the bottom of the Deck in any order, then draw 1 card
A new Continuous Spell to play alongside Nest. And this time it adds S/T to support your Xyz. There are a lot of traps for the deck or RUM that you might want to search. Having a Pot effect is an extra boost since your GY or banished zone will fill up quick in this deck.
Tumblr media
PHNI-JP074 Raidraptor – Glorious Bright
Normal Trap
You can only use 1 of the 1st and 2nd effect of this card’s name per turn, and only once that turn.
(1) If you control a “Raidraptor” monster: Target 1 face-up card your opponent controls; negate its effects until the end of this turn. Unless you control a “Raidraptor” Xyz Monster at activation, you can only target monsters.
(2) You can banish this card from your GY, then target 1 of your “Raidraptor” monsters that is banished or in your GY; add it to your hand.
Madolche Promenade for RR. Which is always good. And it even has a banish effect for recursion. All good things. Making it searchable means you shouldn’t be against running this. Since it negates any card as long as you have a Xyz which is how the deck works.

The Goal
Hey everyone! I'm making this as a way to help with writing Yu-Gi-Oh! fics. For now I will just question on character matchups, deck usage, and any IRL techs that characters could utilize. Might utilize Sevens and Go Rush later on, as I am not acclimated to Rush Duels yet.
1st task will be to find an actual pfp. Too bad that can't be a poll.
Any hypothetical matchups will have the format explained: Anime Rules, Speed Duel, etc. And assume any character with actual support will be using all the available support that exists IRL or is within character. So like Yuya having a card that happens to exactly counter Yosenju against Sawatari is not allowed. But Yuya can use the new Zarc support from Age of Overlord.
