My dad works in a rather high up position in a multi-billion dollar company and I work for a small not-for-profit art group.

i'm at a concert thingy and the bands don't start for another 2 hours, but they have the stage set up and are letting people come up and do karaoke. this family just went up w their kids to belt out cartoon songs and when they held the mic up for the baby to try, it babbled cutely for a sec and then grabbed on and unleashed one of those horrible piercing baby SCREAMS at the top of their little baby lungs and i'm pretty sure wiped out the first 3 rows of people lmao

I finally got some free spots with the vet to get the litter a stray gave birth to in our yard spayed (theres only one vet in the whole ass town) and one of them is beginning to look a bit round and I am praying that she did NOT get randy with a neighbourhood tom cat because I can't afford more furry mouths to feed when nobody will take em 😭😭

I hate when people criticize magical girl anime for having long transformation scenes. "so the enemies just wait for them?" have you ever considered that something can be beautiful without needing to serve a purpose or make sense in a literal scenario 💔

I love Clark Kent because realistically both a nice 6'5 superhero with godlike powers AND a friendly 6'5 country boy reporter would be rolling in bitches, but Clark suffers from terminal Sweetiepie Syndrome and has zero game as a result

Coming from a very trade centred background, the lack of respect shown to people who put in months of training and and then their apprenticeships is really upsetting.

A lot of your personal safety (even in your own home) is based around decent trade work that's up to health codes and safety regulations.

I like when people say things like “respect blue collar workers!” and then the same people turn around and completely dismiss the years of training it takes to be able to do that type of work safely and effectively.

“Telling people not to do their own electrical work because it’s dangerous is classist bc not everyone can afford an electrician” “I can’t believe that plumber charged me so much money for less than an hour of work, what a scam!” “In the post-capitalist utopia everyone will just take turns doing all types of blue-collar work, instead of years-long apprenticeships we’ll just give them a course in high school or something” “Building and safety codes are just pointless bureaucracy meant to stop the average citizen from being able to build their own structures” “I would love to be a farmer and just hang out tending to plants all day”

These are all things I have seen on this website by self-proclaimed worker’s rights advocates and I hope I don’t have to explain how incredibly insulting and dismissive it is when it’s not outright dangerous. There’s a LOT that needs to be fixed about our current labor system but “pretending like training and safety protocols aren’t important” and “pretending that those jobs are actually really easy and any layperson can do them” are uh. Not good solutions.
